The title for this episode is ridiculously long. There is just too many words in the title in the first place. We might have to make the main font for the title a little smaller. But yeah, this episode easily has the longest title. I think it has 50+ characters in it? Of course, the Lost Gold Mine title and Enormous Iron Nose Ring title are pretty long too. But not as long as William the Conqueror. :P

I'm pretty sure Battle Flag is the longest  title by a LONG shot. What's the shortest title though? Isn't it King Tut's Cobra Staff? I don't know why they couldn't just call it "The Battle Flag of William the Conqueror." Seriously, that's MUCH easier to say (and type out) than adding a bunch of words to the title. Regardless, I'd like to see how it ranks, long title aside.

Cobra Staff was short, but I think Galileo was the shortest. Also The Trojan Horseshoe too was short. ;)

Also, I sent you a copy of the William the Conqueror review. It had some good rankings for the rounds I reviewed. I left the moat, temple games, and final verdict up to you. I am pretty exciting to see what this episode ends up with. Also, the pictures are included in the review too. I have to admit that I legit laughed at the Battle Flag artifact. The design of it is a little... unusual.

And my half of the review has been sent. You're right about the artifact itself too. The comet image itself looks really cartoonish.

Time for our 116th episode review. This time, it features the episode with a really long title for no reason.   It was a good episode overall and the Green Monkeys were a good team despite not winning. Also, it's a nice change of pace after reviewing Nzinga.

THE COMET-EMBROIDERED BATTLE FLAG OF WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR

MOAT: 6/10

(Credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for her contribution to this section)

For this moat, the players had to work together to climb through a series of swinging poles. When both players were off the final step, they were then allowed to run over, and hit the gong. This was a pretty average round, and with the exception of the Silver Snakes, all the teams were close. At the end of the round, the Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, Orange Iguanas, and Red Jaguars all advanced to the Steps of Knowledge.

LEGEND: 9/10

One of the boldest Kings of England was William the Conqueror. When King Edward died, William was heir to the throne, but his rival, Harold of Orange, made himself King. William was in France at the time, so he gathered an army and swam across the English Channel so he could reclaim his throne from his rival. The night before the big battle, William and his men saw the campfires of his rivals flickering in the distance. Suddenly, an enormous comet came streaking across the sky. Then men were surprised at what they just saw and thought it was many different things. It seemed that William's men wanted to turn around, but William decided to stand his ground instead. He thought of the comet as a good sign to move forward and vanquish Harold of Orange. It worked, and William's fearlessness and stirring words gave them courage. The next day, his men defeated Harold in battle. In honor of his victory, William had the comet embroidered onto his Battle Flag. Overall, I have no problems with this legend at all. It told a story with little holes in it and there was not lame plot points or childish jokes. In addition, the episode extremely long episode title makes this episode pretty memorable too. Even though it was unnecessarily long.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 7.5/10

This round was completely competitive and tight. All four teams made it to the second to last step at some point in time. It was one of those rounds that made you wonder what team would move onto the next round. Despite the competitiveness, a couple of wrong answers lowers the score for this round. But still, rounds that are down to the wire like this one are enjoyable to watch.

TEMPLE GAMES: 5.5/10

The temple games featured a commonly used match-up between the Red Jaguars and Green Monkeys. The Red Jaguars featured Natalie, who liked to play basketball and talk on the phone with her friends, and her partner Kyle, who was into jet skiing and also liked to collect basketball cards. The Green Monkeys featured Olivia, who enjoyed horseback riding and had a 220 pound pig at home, and Jonathan, who enjoys water skiing and playing tennis. Kirk also makes a joke about how Jonathan and Olivia both wore braces too. The temple games for this episode were pretty one-sided. The Green Monkeys completed their temple games at a much better rate than the Red Jaguars. It was kind of obvious what team was going to the temple. Despite that, the temple game sequence kept this round interesting. The second temple game was rarely used as a solo game while the team game was not featured much in Season 3. This was a slightly above average round overall.

The first temple game had Jonathan and Kyle trying to clear rubble from Harold's Fortress. Each player had to take two giant rocks and carry them into the holes above them. Once they were done, they had to use the trampoline to pull themselves onto the upper level. Once they reach the top, they had to throw both rocks out of the fortress to win. In this temple game, Jonathan proved to be more dominant than his opponent as he won it easily. On a side note, there was this random "horn sound" while the guys were playing this game. In the second temple game, Olivia and Natalie had to act as spies and interrogate Harold's camp. To do this, they had to traverse a maze and try to reach the whole at the bottom. The player that reaches the bottom first will be the winner. Both girls took long to complete this temple game, but Olivia managed to win with 4 seconds left while Natalie didn't even come close. The Green Monkeys enter the final game with one pendant. In the last temple game, the two teams had to knock down six hostile soldiers. One player had to grab a boulder and throw it to their partner that was hanging low on the roof. The second player then had to use to boulder to knock down each of the soldiers. The first team to knock down all six soldiers or the furthest along after 60 seconds will win. In the end, the Green Monkeys knocked all of their soldiers down with 25 seconds remaining. With two pendants and a temple game sweep, Olivia and Jonathan enter the temple in search of the Battle Flag.

TEMPLE RUN: 7/10

(Credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for her contribution to this section)

This temple run should've been a win, but two major mistakes prevented that from happening. First of all, after Olivia knocked over the column, she unnecessarily treks up to the top of the Pit, where both doors were clearly closed. She eventually makes her way down to the Tomb, where she's removed with 2:35 left on the clock. Jonathan goes in next and he makes great time. He makes his way across the bottom floor swiftly, and assembles the monkey in decent time. However, he makes a very crucial mistake, that ultimately cost the team the victory. In the Room of the Ancient Warriors, a third temple guard takes his full pendant, and the door to the chamber opens. Instead of taking that window of opportunity, he wastes even more time trying the other two doors. By the time he corrects this error, time is really winding down. He does manage the grab the battle flag, but time runs out soon after. After time was called, both Olivia and Jonathan were still pretty excited to even reach the flag. All in all, this temple run was very exciting and a nailbiter. But both Olivia and Jonathan made far too many mistakes in the temple for them to win.

FINAL VERDICT: 7/10

(Credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for her contribution to this section)

Overall, Battle Flag was a moderately exciting episode. The legend was great, the steps were close, and the temple run was a nailbiter too. The only thing that drags this episode down is the one sided temple games. Olivia and Jonathan were decent players in the temple. But this temple run really should've been a win, had it not been for their mistakes. I honestly think they were both equally responsible for this loss. Most people just blame Olivia for wasting time in the Pit, but Jonathan honestly should've seen the door to the Chamber opened. Even if he was in the rather large Room of the Ancient Warrior armors. Olivia's mistake was costly yes, but Jonathan's mistake wasted a good 25 seconds, thus preventing him from reaching the flag. They were both at fault for losing the way that they did, it's not just Olivia's fault. Most center of the room temple runs are losses due to the players either wasting time, or making a costly mistake. Besides that, just reaching an artifact in the center of the room is an accomplishment in its own right. To conclude, this episode was still pretty exciting, (albeit a tad average), and I recommend this episode to anyone.

My thoughts:
William the Conqueror is a memorable episode for me. I raised the score for the temple games by half a point just so this episode could finish with a 7. I think it deserved that score after all. The whole episode was pretty eventful, and it didn't have any weak moments. The legend was very interesting and the episode title makes this episode memorable. :P And the Battle Flag looks a little too silly with the face. I mean it was suppose to be an image of a Comet. Why is there a face on it? The Steps of Knowledge was very close, almost like how Missing Eye/Leonardo Da Vinci were. The temple games were definitely the low point of this episode. Jonathan and Olivia (who both wore braces) dominated the Red Jaguars. I am glad the Red Jaguars never made it to the temple anyways if they sucked this bad. The temple run was filled with some glaring mistakes, but it reminds me of "Dolley Madison" where the teams performance makes it enjoyable and saves it from being completely bad. I blame both players for this loss, but I think Jonathan is more to be blamed. Had he noticed the Chamber door open after the first suit of armor, then they would've won. Although they should be glad for even reaching the center of the temple artifact. Overall, this episode was always enjoyable and I actually enjoy the temple run despite what people say about Jonathan and Olivia. I think it earned the 7.0 score.

Next up is Harriet Tubman. We all know the story behind this temple run. Despite the pathetic ending, I don't expect it get that low of a score. Probably in the 5-range overall. The earlier rounds were interesting.

Yeah, Jonathan should've known better than to waste time trying all three armors. Cramped room or not, he should've have seen that door opened to begin with. Instead, he shaved off 25 seconds just wasting time. But yeah, they were both equally responsible. And Harriet Tubman will probably rank in the 5 range. It was an okay episode, besides the temple run of course.

I updated the production day list for the first production day of Season 3. It finished with sub-6 score overall. Sir Gawain and William the Conqueror are the runs that carry this day, War Fan had an average score, but Bifocal Monocle was the one that ruined this day. It was the second lowest rated episode, whch really nerfed this day. :?

We only have four episodes left too.  :mrteal: Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Empress Theodora, and Map to the Lost Gold Mine. None of those episodes should rank below a 5 at all. We are in the home stretch now. I can't wait until our last episode either.  :mrblue:

Yeah, Bifocal Monocle ranked what, a 2.8? The only episode to rank worse than that was Alhambra. And I agree, the remaining four episodes we have left to review shouldn't rank any worse than the 5 range. I bet you're excited for the end there. ;) John Sutter should rank great too. Seriously, it's one of the best episodes of both Season 1, and the series. :mrblue:

Are you kidding? Shaka Zulu is clearly better than Lost Gold Mine because Bobby had the fastest win ever. :mrred: </Youtube logic>. Just kidding, Lost Gold Mine is one of my top 5 all time favorite episodes. It just has to rank above an 8, and it might even come close to Mussel-Shell Armor and Lawrence of Arabia. Temple game miscounts aside, this episode is a classic.  :mrblue:

I am finishing up Harriet Tubman now and will send it out by tonight. I am hoping over the weekend that we can finally finish all of the episodes. Harriet Tubman is getting some okay scores right now. It looks like it won't rank as low as Robert the Bruce or Apple Half.

Oh yeah, that's right! Bobby was fast going through the rooms and got lucky with his cupcake layout. Yet Jennifer is a bad person because she took a direct path and *gasp* didn't move fast enough. Who cares about the whole package in the temple run. If you get lucky, you're an excellent player. :mrred: :mrblue: [/n00b]

But yeah, I love John Sutter. I love that episode and its early Season 1 quirks. I can honestly see that episode rank in the 8 range. And I definitely hope to finish this whole project by the end of the week. It probably shouldn't take very long either.

I just sent you the copy of the Harriet Tubman review. This is one of those episodes that suffer from a bad temple run because everything else ranked fine for me. The temple games and final verdict section need to be completed. I have the pictures ready already and you can change any of the scores around too. Other than that, we will only have 3 episodes left after this one is posted.  :mrorange:

Time to move onto Harriet Tubman, our 117th episode review. Like mentioned above, this episode ranked with a good score despite the teple ending. Of course, it would've ranked better if Ryann simply followed here partner's path. Here it is.  :mrorange:

THE WALKING STICK OF HARRIET TUBMAN

MOAT: 6/10

The six teams had to cross this moat by grabbing several boards and making a bridge across the moat with it. The only catch though is that they have a limited number of boards. To make it across, they had to work as a team to build a bridge with the boards they do have. One player will take a board and place it in front of them while their partner hands them the board from under them. Once both players reach the other side, then they can hit their gongs to go onto the next round. The first four teams that make it across will get a chance to go onto the Steps of Knowledge. This was one of the most interesting moat ideas of Season 2. The team aspect of it and the close competition made it a somewhat entertaining round. But this particular round just wasn't very exciting for this episode. It was still a creative moat challenge nonetheless.

LEGEND: 7/10

The legend talks about one of the greatest African American woman during the American Civil War named Harriet Tubman. She used the North Star to guide many slaves into freedom. She was given the nickname "Moses". Legend has it that once her and a band of slaves were being tracked by a group of slave owners with blood hounds. She told her band of slaves to hide in the Swamp so that the hounds would lose their scent. The slaves wanted to fight back instead because they were afraid of the spirits inside the lake. Hariet would not allow it, and told the slaves that they will have more problems than just spirits if they don't go into the Swamp. Grabbing her Walking Stick, she took the band of slaves across the Swamp and they hid inside a barn until they lost the hounds. All that the white slave masters could find is Harriet's Walking Stick. The Walking Stick made its way to Olmec's Temple. This legend talked about a very interesting and powerful historical figure, but I am afraid that they ruined it a little bit with the stereotypical dialogue.  The stereotypical African American voice for the slaves was a little too much. Plus, why is there no mention of the Underground Railroad? Other than that, everything else was interesting and sounded like it was related to Harriet Tubman.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 6/10

This round was like a "mixed bag of nuts". There were some good moments and some moments that were not so good. The standout moment though was when the Blue Barracudas boy answered all of Olmec's questions correctly before Olmec could even finish it. On the other hand though, there were a couple of bad answers present during this round too. Ryann from the Orange Iguanas even went totally blank on one of the answers too. Also, Olmec had a little Fogg-up too where he mis-pronounced "emancipation". :P Other than that, this round was average. The Blue Barracudas made it to the bottom with no wrong answer while the Orange Iguanas made it down second with one wrong answer.

TEMPLE GAMES: 7/10

(Credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for her contribution to this section)

The temple games featured some close competition and an interesting set up of games used. It also featured an ultra rare Blue vs. Orange match up, which only occurred in three other episodes besides this one. In the first game, Ryann and Erica had to climb up a net representing the underground railroad, and take out keys in a few select cubbyholes. If there was a key in the cubbyhole, it was safe to enter. But if there a lock instead, it was not safe. Erica of the Blue Barracudas ended up winning the game 4-2. In the second game, Chris and James had to place walking sticks on cubes, all while avoiding the swinging obstacles. It was a close match, but Chris of the Orange Iguanas finished the game with 14 seconds remaining, tying up the pendant scores going into the final temple game. In the third game, the teams had to work together to mark the four destinations Harriet Tubman stopped at in the underground railroad. One player would launch a ball at their partner, and they would then catch it, and put it on the green target. This came was also close, but the Orange Iguanas just barely pulled through, and got the last target with only four seconds left on the clock. This gave the Orange Iguanas the full pendant, and earned them a trip to the temple with 1.5 pendants!

TEMPLE RUN: 3/10

There is a very important lesson learned from this temple run. You must ALWAYS follow your partners steps in the temple even if you have less than one pendant. Many contestants have made the mistake of swaying from their partners path, but it came back to bite Ryann in the ass. Chris was a slightly above average runner in this episode, but he laid out a good path for Ryann. In the Pit of Despair though, he tried to press the actuator to the Observatory thinking that he could reach the Walking Stick from there. Sorry, but I will not give you a free pass as a Season 2 runner. He moved at a steady pace along the bottom floor of the temple. In the Dark Forest, he was a little confused about where to put the key because the Shrine door was already opened when he entered the room. \The Shrine/Forest door was opened even during the temple rundown. So maybe that added to Chris' confusion? When he finally realized that he could enter the Shrine, he heads up there before being removed by his second temple guard. With a clear path to the Shrine and 1:30 to herself, what does Ryann do? She runs into the Crypt and meets her last guard as we get one of the fastest triple captures on the show. What a very anticlimactic ending to a temple run. It went from a run where the team had a chance at victory to one of the worst runs on the show in a few seconds. Ryann's inattentiveness and mistake was very fatal. Most triple captures ended because their partners could not find the half-pendant, but this one ended because Ryann simply did not follow her partner's path. As a result, this round gets a very low ranking. What saves it from an even lower score is the fact that at least Chris' performance was good for the most part.

FINAL VERDICT: 5.8/10

(Credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for her contribution to this section)

Overall, Harriet Tubman was a pretty average episode for the most part. The legend was interesting, the temple games were close, and did feature a rare Blue vs. Orange match up. But the temple run drags it waaaaay down. Many players make the mistake of not following their partners path. But Ryann made herself look like an idiot by getting herself taken out of the temple. Thus proving why you should always follow your partners path if you have less than 2 pendants. This temple run definitely takes the cake for strangest ending ever. Furthermore, when Olmec asks who's going first in the temple, Chris responds with his own name instead of the usual "I am!" This is the third quickest loss in the shows history ("Elizabeth the First's Golden Ship" and "The Useless Map of the Chibcha Chieftain" being quicker), and the overall quickest loss of Season 2. Despite the obvious wasted potential in the temple run, the rest of the episode was decent, and I still recommend this episode to anyone.

My thoughts:
Harriet Tubman is an average episode altogether if you take out the temple run. The earlier rounds had glaringly bad moments or standout good moments. The Blue Barracuda boy was impressive in the Steps of Knowledge. And then we get a rare Orange-Blue temple games too. Too bad that combination was not used as often. :? I also remember Ryann and Chris struggling to get their last target in the team game. The temple run was frustrating due to the ending. All Ryann had to do was follow her partner's path, and they would've probably reached the Walking Stick at least. Instead, she enters into the wrong entrance room for crying out loud. Other players like Terry-Kay (Jean Lafitte), Tina (Kamehameha), and Michelle (Electrified Key) did this, but Ryann was the one that finally got caught. What an awful way to end a temple run, especially when they actually had a chance to win. I would've been mighty piss if I was Chris. Oh well, this makes this temple run a one of a kind at least.

Next up is Dried Ear of Corn. There is nothing great about this episode at all. It will probably finish close to the 6-range at least. I will try to get that one out by tonight. ;)
