Legends of the Hidden Temple
Lost Season 4, Layout 4
The Unlucky Boots of Stonewall Jackson

*The camera makes its way through a forest. Eventually, it comes to a stone head. It's eyes light up, and it begins to speak... *

OLMECpx]
Legends of the Hidden Temple. (Applause as camera pans across temple) With your guide, Kirk Fogg! (Kirk appears sliding down the Pharoah's Secret Passage into the Quicksand Bog; a temple guard jumps out; Kirk jumps out of the temple and runs over and up the Steps of Knowledge) And here he is now.

KIRK:
(Stops at top of steps) Thank you! Thank you very much. Nice to see you! (Points towards crowd) And you too, Olmec. Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan temple guards. Olmec, and only Olmec, knows the legend behind each of the treasures of his temple. Olmec, which one will we hear about today?

OLMEC:
The Legend of the Unlucky Boots of Stonewall Jackson.

Kirk:
Oh, the Unlucky Boots of Stonewall Jackson. Well, one of these teams will have a chance to retrieve the boots.

Will it be the Red Jaguars? (Red Jaguars start jumping around wildly)

The Blue Barracudas? (Blue Barracudas high-five each other)

The Green Monkeys? (Green Monkeys pump their fists and cheer)

Maybe the Orange Iguanas? (Orange Iguanas jump up and down excitedly)

The Purple Parrots? (Purple Parrots cheer loudly)

Or the Silver Snakes? (Silver Snakes pump their fists and shake hands roughly)

They're gonna have to pass the tough physical and mental tests, and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec's temple, but first they have to cross the moat. Olmec here will tell them how they'll have to do it today.

OLMEC:
Before you hang the remains of an ancient bridge, (Rope hangs from the top of the moat that stretches across) along with what rests beside you. (Rope is coiled up next to each team) When Kirk gives the signal, one partner will grab one end of the rope, while the other partner will grab the opposite end. One partner will then cross the moat through the water holding the rope to the opposite side. When you are completely out of the water, both partners must tie their ends of the rope to their columns. That will be the second partner's signal to hang from the top rope and walk across the moat. If you fall in the water, you must go back and begin again. When both partners have crossed the moat, run over and hit the gong. (Kirk hits gong) The first four teams to hit their gongs will go onto the next round.

KIRK: Alright! This is gonna be an exciting round; I can feel it. Teams, are you ready?! (Teams cheer, "YEAH!") Olmec, are you ready?

OLMEC: Ready to rock.

KIRK: Okay, on your mark...get set...GO!

*The first partner of each team crossed at almost the same time, save for the Orange Iguanas, who had trouble getting situated. The Blue Barracudas moved slowly for their second partner, while the Red Jaguars moved very fast on both trips and rang in first. The Green Monkeys were careful and hit theirs moments later. The Purple Parrots almost crossed, but their rope came undone and they fell in. Orange regrouped and hit their gong next. Blue finally hit their gong as the last team.*

KIRK: (Slapping Orange Iguanas' hands) Alright, nice job, Orange Iguanas! They fought hard all the way, and they're going onto the Steps of Knowledge! (Orange high-five each other)

And so are the Green Monkeys! (Green raise their arms and cheer)

Along with the Blue Barracudas! (Blue bumps fists excitedly)

And the fast Red Jaguars! (Red jumps around and cheers)

Oh, the Purple Parrots and the Silver Snakes did a great job too. They had a tough time. We got a nice gift for them; here's what it is.

*They get ring pops*

KIRK: As the quest continues, it's time for Olmec to tell us about the Unlucky Boots of Stonewall Jackson, but pay attention, because your knowledge of the legend can, and will bring you a step closer to Olmec's temple.

OLMEC: One of the greatest military generals of all-time was the Confederate lieutenant general, Thomas Jackson, nicknamed "Stonewall" for the famous Stonewall Brigade. Known for his experience and wisdom in battle, he led the Southern army to several early victories against the outnumbering Northern army in the Civil War, under the command of the Confederate general Robert E. Lee, and appeared to be on their way to a full victory. Legend has it, that in April 1863, Jackson was on leave, walking through a village in Virginia.

JACKSON: Ah, victory is within our grasp as soon as we enter the North.

OLMEC: Not long after Jackson said this did he encounter an elderly woman with a shiny pair of black handmade boots. Recognizing who he was, the woman spoke.

WOMAN: You are Stonewall Jackson, yes?

JACKSON: That would be me, fair lady.

WOMAN: My name is Evanna. I wish to help you in the ongoing war against the Northern states.

JACKSON: But we are already on the verge of victory.

EVANNA: I show you a pair of very special boots. They have been created with the fabric to help whoever wears it to move faster. You may be able to defeat them faster than you think.

OLMEC: Although hesitantly, Stonewall took the boots, and the Southern army defeated the North at the next battle in Chancellorsville. But on their way back to camp, they were fired upon by their own army, thinking they were Northern soldiers. Stonewall was shot in the arm and wounded. It had turned out that Evanna was a Northern nurse, and Stonewall's boots were boots made only in the North, thus causing the confusion. Stonewall died a week after being shot, the Confederate army wound up losing the war, and the boots found their way to the temple. Your task is to retrieve the unlucky boots of Stonewall Jackson and bring them back here.

KIRK: Alright, Olmec. Please tell us. Where are the boots?

OLMEC: The unlucky boots of Stonewall Jackson can be found in the Room of the Secret Password.

KIRK: Alright, then. Teams, you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec's gonna ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp on that ancient marking in front of you. If you're right, you'll be moving down to the next level. But if you're wrong or you run out of time, we'll give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level...(Runs down the steps) will be one step closer to Olmec's temple. Olmec, please give us your first question.

OLMEC: Which war was Stonewall Jackson a general in? The Revolutionary W-- (Stomp interrupts him)

KIRK: Blue Barracudas.

BLUE: The Civil War.

OLMEC: That is correct.

KIRK: Alright, step down. (Blue goes down to the next step) Next question, Olmec.

OLMEC: What was Stonewall Jackson's real name? Richard, Andrew, or Thomas? (Stomp is heard)

KIRK: Green Monkeys.

GREEN: Thomas.

OLMEC: That is correct.

KIRK: Good job, guys. (Green steps down) Remember to stomp down hard to answer the question. Olmec, next question.

OLMEC: Which battle was considered the turning point of the Civil War? The First Battle of Bull Run, Gettysburg, or-- (Stomp interrupts him)

KIRK: Orange Iguanas.

ORANGE: Vicksburg.

OLMEC: That is not one of our three choices. The-- (Stomp interrupts him)

KIRK: Blue Barracudas.

BLUE: Gettysburg.

OLMEC: That is correct.

KIRK: Alright. Good job, Blue Barracuas. (Blue steps down) Now you're just one step away from the Temple Games. We need two teams. Next question.

OLMEC: What was the name of the leader of the Confederate army? (Stomp is heard)

KIRK: Red Jaguars.

RED: Robert E. Lee.

OLMEC: That is correct.

KIRK: Red Jaguars are on the board. (Red steps down) Orange Iguanas, you can catch up. Next question.

OLMEC: According to our legend, what was the name of the woman who gave the boots to Stonewall? Was it Rita-- (Stomp interrupts him)

KIRK: Blue Barracudas.

BLUE: Evanna.

OLMEC: That is correct.

KIRK: Step in! (Blue steps down) We got our first team going to the Temple Games! It's the Blue Barracudas! We're looking for one more team. Will it be the Red Jaguars, the Green Monkeys, or the Orange Iguanas? Next question.

OLMEC: Was Stonewall Jackson shot in the leg, the stomach, or the arm? (Stomp is heard)

KIRK: Green Monkeys.

GREEN: The arm.

OLMEC: That is correct.

KIRK: Alright. (Green steps down) Step down, Green Monkeys. Now they're one step from the Temple Games. Next question, Olmec.

OLMEC: Did the Civil War begin in 1858, 1861, or 18-- (Stomp interrupts him)

KIRK: Red Jaguars.

RED: 1858.

OLMEC: Incorrect. (Another stomp is heard)

KIRK: Green Monkeys.

GREEN: 1861.

OLMEC: That is correct.

KIRK: Step in! (Green steps down and starts celebrating with Blue) Alright, we've got our two teams who will be facing off in the Temple Games! It's the Blue Barracudas... and the Green Monkeys! Red Jaguars, Orange Iguanas, you both did a great job too. We've got a nice gift for you. Here's what it is.

*They get the Disney video Kronk's New Groove*

KIRK: Alright, we've got two teams that are fired up here. They'll be playing for the right to enter Olmec's temple, and they're gonna do it right after this!

KIRK: Welcome back to Legends. Now, the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let's meet our two teams here. On the Blue Barracudas we have Jill. She likes to ride bikes and she plays the piano. And Jeffrey plays basketball and also likes to fish. Let's hear it for the Blue Barracudas!

(He turns to Green)

KIRK: And on the Green Monkeys, we have Stacey. She enjoys fashion and wants to be a model when she grows up. And Ernie is a quarterback on his football team, and he likes to run sprints. Let's hear it for the Green Monkeys!

Why don't you girls get ready for the second game, and the guys can set up here.

In the Temple Games, the teams will be competing to win pendants of life. The winning team will need those pendants to protect them from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games, and Olmec will tell us about Temple Game numero uno.

OLMEC: Throughout the many battles of the Civil War, Stonewall Jackson led his troops to fire cannonballs at the Northern soldiers. When Kirk gives the signal, load a cannonball and fire it at one of the soldiers in order to knock it down. Then reload the cannonball and do it again. The first team to knock all four soldiers down, or the team that's furthest along in 60 seconds wins.

KIRK: Alright. We're gonna have our own little Civil War going on here. Well, at least Abraham Lincoln's not in charge here. Lets put 60 seconds on the clock!

On your mark, get set, go!

*Both teams knocked their first down quickly, then their second down with 33 seconds left. Green started missing while Blue managed to knock their third down with 18 seconds to go. Green finally got their third to fall, but Blue knocked their fourth down with 6 seconds remaining*

KIRK: Alright, good job, Blue Barracudas! The Green Monkeys knocked three soldiers down, but the Blue Barracudas knocked down all four with time to spare. That gives them the half-pendant of life! Green Monkeys, they had a hard time aiming, but they can catch up in the next game. It's worth a half-pendant. Olmec, tell us about it.

OLMEC: In our legend, Stonewall Jackson was given a pair of boots sewn by Evanna. Now, it is your turn to do the sewing. When Kirk gives the signal, run over, reach up, and grab one piece of the boot, then run back and place it on the boot. When all three pieces are in place, you must then sew a second boot as well. The first team to completely sew both boots or the team furthest along in 60 seconds wins.

KIRK: Alright. They're going to have to learn to sew if they want to win this game. Lets set the clock for 60 seconds. On your mark, get set, go!

*Both teams were neck-and-neck all the way. It was tied at four pieces before Green couldn't handle their fifth piece. Blue got theirs on with 12 seconds remaining. Blue then got their sixth, but they didn't have enough momentum to get back and place it on the boot. Green got a fifth on with 2 seconds remaining, ending it in a tie.*

KIRK: Oh, nice job by both teams! It was hard-fought all the way. The Blue Barracudas had one, two, three, four, five pieces. And the Green Monkeys had one, two, three, four, five pieces. It was a tie. That means that they both get the half-pendant of life! The Blue Barracudas now have one full pendant, the Green Monkeys have a half. We move to the third and final game, it's worth a full pendant. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game number three.

OLMEC: When preparing for a battle, General Robert E. Lee commanded Stonewall Jackson to ready the cannonballs for loading. Here, you will be doing the same. When Kirk gives the signal, grab a cannonball and throw it onto the chute above you. When it rolls off the other side, your partner must catch the cannonball, without it hitting the ground, and place it in your crate. Then move onto the next one. The team with the most cannonballs in your crate at the end of 60 seconds wins.

KIRK: This game is for the temple, right here. Lets set the clock for 60 seconds. On your mark, get set, go!

*Both teams were close, with Blue getting one, then Green getting one right after most of the way. Then Blue had one fall out of their reach, and Green got a fourth in, taking the lead with 8 seconds left. Blue quickly caught their fourth, but they threw it too hard and it missed the crate by inches.*

KIRK: Alright, excellent job by both teams! They both gave it their all. Lets count it up. The Blue Barracudas had one, two three cannonballs. And the Green Monkeys had one, two, three, they had four cannonballs! They get the full pendant, which means that the Green Monkeys have one and a half pendants. The Blue Barracudas had one. The Green Monkeys are going to the temple! (Green jumps around and hug each other)

WHOO! Great job by the Green Monkeys. Blue Barracudas, you gave it a great effort all the way. You never gave up. You're not going away empty-handed. Here's what we've got for you.

*They get Nike sneakers*

KIRK: Now we're gonna see if the Green Monkeys can make it through Olmec's temple and retrieve those unlucky boots of Stonewall Jackson, right after this!

KIRK: Welcome back to Legends. Stacey and Ernie have proven themselves worthy and have now earned the right to enter Olmec's temple. But before they get started, Olmec's gonna give them some information to help them retrieve the unlucky boots of Stonewall Jackson.

OLMEC: You could start by running up the stairs to the Crypt. Grab the book from the skeletons, and pass into the Pit. Swing across the pit, and it could lead you up into the King's Storeroom. Smash the clay pots to find the key, which might lead you into the Chamber of the Sacred Markers. Match the symbols on the right to those on the left, and pass into the Room of the Ancient Warriors. Place yourself in the correct armor, and open the door to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue there, and you may be heading for the Room of the Secret Password, where you can grab the unlucky boots of Stonewall Jackson. Find the tablet with the right inscription, and shout it out to open the Pharoah's Secret Passage. Slide down the tunnel to the Quicksand Bog, where you could smash through into the Dark Forest. But beware of the temple guards that may inhabit the trees! Find the key in the tree, and it will take you into the Jester's Court. Press yourself against the right wall painting, and it will lead you into the Laser Light Room. Unleash the power of the white laser, and race back through the Pit. Climb through the Ledges, race down the stairs, and back to the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone! You've won one and a half pendants in the Temple Games. Who's going first?

STACEY: I am.

OLMEC: Very well, Stacey. When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates, into the temple, and make your way towards the unlucky boots. Hidden inside the temple are Temple Guards, assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a pendant, you'll be taken out of the temple, and it will be Ernie's turn to enter and try his luck. Hidden somewhere in the temple is the other half of your pendant. If you find it, and you're carrying the other half, you will get an extra life. If you can reach the boots, all the doors of the temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. Return to the gates with the unlucky boots of Stonewall Jackson in 3 minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded, and here's how!

*For making it to the temple, they both get a skateboard. If they get the boots, they'll receive a portable CD player. If they retrieve the boots, they'll be given a vacation to Mexico.*

KIRK: Stacey tells me she's always wanted to go to Mexico. Well, let's see if we can get her there. Let's get into position. Mouth pieces in. Olmec, please lower your gate.

OLMEC: (Lowering his gate) Hmmm.......

KIRK: Lets put 3 minutes on the clock. Okay, Stacey. On your mark...get set...GO!

*This temple run was a pretty exciting one. Stacey was a player of average skill who was pretty scared of the Temple Guards she encountered. The one she found in the Crypt really rattled her for a moment. She was taken out in the King's Storeroom with 1:54 remaining. Ernie raced in, proving to be much faster than his partner and having a good map of the temple in his head. He tried the button Stacey hadn't pushed in the Pit to the Storeroom, and it opened up, also containing the other half-pendant; a smart move. He hurried through, but was caught by a Temple Guard in the Shrine with 1:06 to go. He quickly grabbed all three pieces in the Shrine to save time as well. He then went down to the Quicksand Bog and raced up the Secret Passage and into the Room of the Secret Password, where he grabbed the boots with 34 seconds left. No sooner than he grabbed them did he BLAZE back along the top floor, swinging across the Pit and passing out with 10 seconds to spare. He really deserved his trip to Mexico.*

KIRK: He's got it! Yes! He got the boots! He made it through in an amazing job! He's totally out of breath; Stacey cleared out a great path for him. They were a great team, all the way through. I love it! They're getting the skateboard, the portable CD player, they're going to Mexico! Oh, excellent job to both of you! Catch us again next time for another great Legends of the Hidden Temple. Bye!

To get rid of the white, all you have to do is shrink the paint box to a really small size, then copy and paste the plain layout, then put everthing in, if you want, I could make one for you

Pretty good! I actually think your temple run description is more spot-on than most of the others written here. Ya kno what i mean? You managed the time well, as in how fast and far the kids would actually be able to go within their 3 minutes. I'm sure that would be an exciting temple run to watch if it was real. :P
