Episode 113px]

The camera swerves through a thick rainforest, and after multiple turns, it eventually stops in front of an ancient temple.  The eyes of giant stone head next to the temple gate light up red as he begins to speak:
The show's logo forms as two halves of a Pendant of Life come in from the sides of the screen and merge; the show's name appears above the logo as the camera pans across the entire temple.
"With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is NOW!"

On this final word, Kirk emerges from a thick patch of jungle plants and shrubs, then runs into the foreground and up a wide set of steps to greet the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple.  The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards.  Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures of his temple.  Which one are we gonna hear about today?"

Faint orange lights underneath Olmec turn on, and the camera cuts to a close-up of him as he replies:
"The Replaced Hand of Ali?i?lani Hale."

"Oh, the Replaced Hand of Ali-lani Hali!" Kirk says in response, a strange expression on his face as the camera cuts back to him. "So, the adventure is set, and one of these six teams will have a chance to retrieve the Replaced Hand! Will it be:
"Derek and Christina of the Red Jaguars?" the camera pans to each team in order, their first names briefly appearing at the bottom of the screen?
"Cody and Adriana of the Blue Barracudas,
"Martin and Tara of the Green Monkeys,
"Eddie and Tiffany of the Orange Iguanas,
"Wesley and Abbie of the Purple Parrots,
"Or Jordan and Courtney of the Silver Snakes?"

"They'll have to pass some tough physical and mental tests," Kirk says, "but in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's Temple.  But first, they have to cross the Moat, and here's how they'll do it today?
"One player from each team is holding an ancient surfboard.  When I say 'Go,' he'll put the surfboard into the Moat, and he'll stand on it and go across by climbing hand-over-hand on the knotted rope above him.  Once the first player's across, it's his partner's turn to pull back the surfboard and he'll make it across."
"As soon as the second player jumps down onto the deck, it's his job to run over here and hit the gong." He hits the top button on the Red Jaguars' gong? which lights up red? to demonstrate. "The first four teams to hit their gongs will be going on to the Steps of Knowledge! Are you ready, teams?"
The players all cheer and shout in response.
"Olmec: Are you ready?" asks Kirk.
"Let's get crackin'," Olmec replies.
"All right!" Kirk says in response. " On your marks, get set, GO!"

The Orange Iguanas and Silver Snakes send their boys across the Moat first when Kirk shouts "Go," but the other teams all start by having their female players stand on the surfboard and use the knotted rope for support.  In mere seconds, however, the boy from the Silver Snakes loses his balance on the surfboard and it drifts away? the spotter at the far end of the Moat prompts him to go back and restart. "Silver Snakes have to go back, but it's still early, they can catch up!" Not too long after, however, the girls from the Blue Barracudas and the Green Monkeys meet a similar fate, putting the female Purple Parrot in the lead.  She makes it across first in thirteen seconds, but the male Orange Iguana is only a split second behind.  The Red Jaguars and Silver Snakes also get their first players across after about twenty seconds.
"This is tough? it's all about balance!" Kirk remarks as the male Purple Parrot reels in his team's surfboard first and stands on it, followed closely by the female Orange Iguana and less closely by the male Red Jaguar.  Exactly thirty seconds into the round, the female Blue Barracuda sets foot on the far deck of the Moat, making the Green Monkeys the only team without anybody on the other side. "We need four teams, who's gonna? oh, Orange Iguanas gotta go back!" Sure enough, the girl from the Orange Iguanas loses her grip on the knotted rope above and falls into the Moat without any leverage (:32); the male Blue Barracuda starts to quickly in reel his team's board as she starts to go back.  Thirty-seven seconds into the round, the male Red Jaguar also has to restart, just as the female Green Monkey finally makes it to the other side.  Her partner starts pulling on the board's tether rope just before the boy from the Purple Parrots reaches the deck and runs over to his team's gong, followed closely by the Silver Snakes.
"All right, we got our first two teams! We need two more!" Kirk declares right before the Orange Iguanas have to restart again.  She falls into the water just after the halfway mark this time. "Looks like it might be the Blue Barracudas?" The Barracudas are in fact the only team moving forward as he says this, but the Jaguars and Monkeys start to cross moments later.  Soon after, the male Blue Barracuda makes it across and locks in a full fifty-three seconds after the Moat began. "Still need one more team! Who's it gonna be??" At this point, the other three teams are inching along, but one in particular is further along than the other two; their gong is hit and lights up fifty-nine seconds into the Moat crossing, ending the round.
"That's it! We have our four teams!" announces Kirk, and the camera cuts to him celebrating with the Red Jaguars by their gong, and high-fiving the two players. "This was a tough match, but the Red Jaguars stuck it out and they're going on to the Steps of Knowledge, along with the Blue Barracudas?" he pauses to allow for applause while the camera briefly shows each of the qualifying teams? "and the Purple Parrots? and the Silver Snakes! The Green Monkeys and the Orange Iguanas? they gave it a great effort, but came up a little bit short.  We got a great gift for 'em and here's what it is."
Dee reads the consolation prize:
"Look at the entertaining fun you'll have when you strap on Moon Shoes! Super excitement is yours when you bounce higher than ever! Don't leave earth without Moon Shoes, from Big Time Toys!"
Title: Rediscovery EP: The Replaced Hand of Ali?i?lani Hale
Post by: The Ancient Warrior on November 26, 2010, 05:35:06 PM
When the camera cuts away from the consolation prize, the four remaining teams, along with Kirk, are now at the top of the Steps of Knowledge. "As the quest continues," Kirk explains, "it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the legend of the Replaced Hand of Ali-anni Hali.  But teams: pay attention, because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to Olmec's Temple."
Olmec begins to tell the legend:

"One of the most majestic buildings in all of the Hawaiian Islands is Ali?i?lani Hale.  It was built for Kamehameha V when Hawaii was still a kingdom, and he used the palace-like building for his officials rather than himself.  But legend has it he wasn't completely satisfied with the work, and spoke to the contractor?
" 'Something's missing? I like the building, but it seems incomplete.'
" 'Remind me again why this isn't going to be your new palace?'
" 'I might be King of Hawaii, but it's not all about me? it's about the people.  I'm not the only person on these islands; plenty of us live on this land together? wait! That's it!'
"Kamehameha decided he wanted a statue of his grandfather, Kamehameha I, who united the Hawaiian Islands into one kingdom.  The contractor agreed, and hired a sculptor to make a bronze statue draped in golden robes, but Kamehameha had one more complaint.
" 'Very nice, but if you could redo the right hand? We don't want him telling people to stop, but telling them they're welcome here.'
"The sculptor went along with it, and the original hand? which made a 'Stop' signal? was replaced, and made its way to the Temple.  Your goal is to find the Replaced Hand of Ali?i?lani Hale and bring it back here."

"Thank you Olmec," Kirk says after Olmec finishes telling the legend. "So tell us: Where is the? Replaced Hand?"
Olmec replies:
"The Replaced Hand of Ali?i?lani Hale can be found in the Tiki Village." The camera zooms in on a bronze statue hand on the front-left edge of the ladder leading down from the Tiki Village, then fades back to Kirk.

"Teams," Kirk begins, "in a minute, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you.  If you're right, you're gonna move down to the next level, but if you're wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other teams a chance." Kirk starts walking down the steps as he continues. "The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple.  Olmec: we're now ready for your first question."

Olmec begins:
"Was the construction of Ali?i?lani Hale commissioned by: Kamehameha III, Kamehameha IV or Kamehameha V?"
Hesitantly, Christina buzzes in first: "Kame-meha? V."
There is a momentary pause.
"Red Jaguars, step down!" encourages Kirk, and the Red Jaguars move down to the second step. "Tough pronunciation? Next question, Olmec!"

Olmec now asks:
"Was Kamehameha V the King of: France, Tahi??"
Cody cuts Olmec off: "Hawaii."
"Blue Barracudas, good job, step down!" remarks Kirk, and the Blue Barracudas also move down a level. "This match is starting to heat up.  Olmec: next question!

Olmec follows up with:
"Ali?i?lani Hale was not Kamehameha V's own palace.  Was it built: For his wife, To seat his government officials or As a tribute to his ancestors?"
After a moment, Cody hits the marking first again: "To? set all the officials??"
There is another pause.
"That is acceptable."
"Blue Barracudas now just one step away from the Temple Games!" commentates Kirk as the Blue Barracudas move down to the third step. "We need two teams.  Next question."

Olmec then asks:
"Which of these did Kamehameha V want in front of Ali?i?lani Hale: A fountain??"
A third consecutive stop by Cody interrupts Olmec: "A statue."
"THAT IS CORRECT!" bellows Olmec, and the Blue Barracudas jump down to the final step.
"We got our first team going on to the Temple Games!" commentates Kirk as the Blue Barracudas hug and high-five as a celebration. "It's the Blue Barracudas! We still need one more team, who's it gonna be: the Red Jaguars, the Purple Parrots or the Silver Snakes? Next question, Mr. Olmec."

Olmec continues:
"Did he want a statue of: Kamehameha I, Kamehameha II or Kame??"
Abbie stomps down and guesses: "The first?? Kami?eha-meha I."
"Tricky pronunciation! Purple Parrots, step down!" remarks Kirk, and the Purple Parrots move down to the second step alongside the Red Jaguars. "Still time for the Silver Snakes.  Next question, Olmec!"

Olmec's next question is this:
"According to our legend, was the statue hand that was replaced making a gesture which meant: 'Stop,' 'Come here' or 'I'll protect you'?"
Abbie buzzes in: " 'Come here'??"
Courtney gongs in: " 'Stop'??"
"It's all tied up on the second step!" Kirk narrates as the Silver Snakes also move down to the second level. "Who's gonna be our second team? Let's keep going, Olmec!"

Olmec continues with the following:
"Was Kamehameha I known for: Uniting the Hawaiian Islands into one kingdom, Resisting the Amer??"
Abbie steps in early: "United the islands? into a Kingdom of Hawaii??"
"That is correct."
"The Purple Parrots are suddenly just one step away from the Temple Games!" explains Kirk as the Purple Parrots continue to the third step. "The other teams can catch up? Olmec, next question."

Olmec asks:
"In our legend, did Kamehameha V want the statue to remind his people that: The king ruled supreme, They were a united people or Remember??"
Courtney hits the marking second: "The? they were all united people."
"That is correct."
"We got a tie on the second-to-last step!" Kirk commentates as the Silver Snakes also move down to the penultimate level. "Still plenty of time for the Red Jaguars to catch up.  Olmec: continue!"

Olmec does so by asking:
"Was the statue made of: Cast-iron, Copper or Bronze?"
Christina steps in: "Uh? Copper."
Courtney narrowly beats the Purple Parrots to the buzzer: "Bronze."
"THAT IS CORRECT!" booms Olmec, and the Silver Snakes jump down to join the Blue Barracudas on the bottommost step.  However, before the teams start celebrating with one another, Kirk runs in front of the camera showing the steps and then up the bottom step between the two teams.
"We got our two teams for the Temple Games!" he says as he turns around to face the camera and the team players start celebrating with one another. "They are the Blue Barracudas and the Silver Snakes! These Red Jaguars and the Purple Parrots gave it a great effort too? it was a close match and they're not going away empty-handed.  We got a gift for 'em both and here's what it is." Derek, Christina, Wesley and Abbie will each be receiving a copy of the Pok?mon SoulSilver Nintendo DS game.
The camera then cuts away from the consolation prize and back to the Steps of Knowledge, on which only the Blue Barracudas, Silver Snakes and Kirk are still standing. "These two teams will be playing for the right to enter Olmec's Temple," announces Kirk, "and they're gonna do it right after this!" The camera zooms in on the stage-left statue in the Tiki Village, then the show's logo reforms and the camera fades to black for the commercial.

Post by: The Ancient Warrior on November 26, 2010, 05:43:15 PM
When the camera fades in from black, the show's titlecard is placed over a shot of part of the audience.  The pendant splits and the title shrinks into the distance; the camera zooming out to show part of the Moat adds to the effect, and a moment after the title is completely gone, the camera segues to Kirk standing in front of the Pit of Despair with the two remaining teams on either side.
"Welcome back to Legends," he says. "Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let's talk to our team players." He turns to the left side of the screen to talk with the girl on the Blue Barracudas, who has brown eyes and wavy dark hair in a ponytail slung over her shoulder. "On the Blue Barracudas, we have Adriana.  How old are you?"
"Twelve," she answers.
"Now it says here you play a little softball, but you also like to surf," Kirk reads from the index card in his hand. "How'd you get into that?"
"Well," explains Adriana, "my older brother did a lot of surfing before me, and one year I sort of picked it up from him." She giggles. "I've been doing it for about? four years?"
"What's the biggest wave you surfed?"
"Probably about? twenty feet."
"All right!" Kirk replies with a smile.  He then goes to talk to Adriana's partner, a boy with short brown hair and hazel eyes. "And her partner here is Cody.  How old are you?"
"And I heard you play baseball and run track," reads Kirk, "but you also collect action figures??"
"Yeah," answers Cody, "I have a big collection? mostly of Marvel Comics figures."
"How many do you have?"
"About? thirty-five."
"And you play with all of these?"
"Well, most of them stay in the box."
"All right then," Kirk answers with a laugh. "This is an action-packed team.  Let's hear it for the Blue Barracudas!" The audience applauds momentarily, and Cody and Adriana clap along with them as Kirk turns to the right side of the screen.  He proceeds to talk to the Silver Snakes, starting with a brown-eyed girl with straight, chest-length blond hair and freckles. "And now on the Silver Snakes, we have Courtney.  How old are you?"
"And it says here you like to swim, but you really like to write songs," comments Kirk. "Tell me about that."
"Well, I've been playing guitar since I was little," explains Courtney. "And I'm trying to write my own music to match the lyrics I write."
"Think you could start a band one day?"
"Maybe," she giggles.
"Well, let me know and I'll make sure I buy your CD's," Kirk grins.  He then proceeds to interview Courtney's partner at the far right edge of the screen, a tan-skinned boy with short dark hair and brown eyes. "And Jordan, how old are you?"
"Thirteen," he answers with a light Southern accent.
"And I understand you play basketball and football, but you're also into computers?? Tell me about that."
"I? uh, I manage a few websites, but I really wanna learn how to animate cartoons with this thing called Flash," Jordan replies.
"All right," Kirk comments before turning to the audience. "This is a creative Silver Snakes team, so let's hear it for 'em!" The audience applauds again, and this time, Jordan and Courtney clap along.

"Okay, why don't you girls go get ready for the first Temple Game, guys go get ready for the second Temple Game," Kirk says, pointing in different directions, and as Kirk faces the camera again, Adriana and Jordan walk offscreen in one direction and Courtney and Cody in another. "In the Temple Games, each team is competing to win?" he opens a pouch and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? "these Pendants of Life.  They're gonna need those Pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through the Temple.  There are three Temple Games.  Olmec: will you tell us about Temple Game #1?"

Olmec begins:
"Ali?i?lani Hale was a magnificent building that took a lot of construction, but in this game, you will only have 60 seconds to put four merlons on one tower.  When Kirk gives the signal, grab a merlon, stick it to your helmet, climb the tower and place the object at the top.  Then, come back down, grab another merlon and do it again.
"The first player to place all four merlon on top of the tower? or the player that's further along in 60 seconds? wins."
The camera transitions over to Kirk. "All right, time to build this tower," he remarks. "Let's put 60 seconds on the clock?" The countdown clock reappears in the bottom-right corner, and Kirk backs up and out of the camera frame. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
Adriana and Jordan start to climb up the towers, but at very different paces.  It only takes a few seconds for Jordan to get to the top, and he places the first merlon on the top of the tower with a full 54 seconds to go.  Adriana is a couple seconds behind, but Jordan is already back at the bottom of his tower with a full fifty seconds to go. "Silver Snakes are blazing right now! Can the Blue Barracudas keep up?" Adriana scrambles back down the tower, but is still a few seconds behind her opponent, as Jordan sticks his second merlon to the top of the tower at the :43 mark while she is just starting to climb back up for the second time.  She sticks her second merlon to the Barracudas' tower with 38 seconds left, just as Jordan makes it back down to the base of his tower and grabs the third merlon for his team.
"Silver Snakes just slithering up and down now!" Kirk remarks just as Jordan places his third merlon at the top of his tower with thirty seconds to go. "They need just one more now! Blue Barracudas really need to catch up if they want to win!" At this point, the players appear to be running out of steam, as both slow down considerably? Jordan still makes it back down first, but with only 22 seconds left. "They're both scramblin'? they both want this!" Adriana struggles to catch up, but Jordan still places the last merlon on the Silver Snakes' tower with fourteen seconds remaining, ending the game.
"All right, that's it! " Kirk exclaims, running over as the players climb back down and the countdown clock vanishes from the screen. "They both went very fast, but the Silver Snakes made it first? Blue Barracudas had a little trouble, like a fish out of water? but the Silver Snakes got all four? uh, merlons before time ran out, so they get the half a Pendant of Life!" The audience cheers for a few seconds while Kirk and Jordan high-five. "Blue Barracudas can catch up in the next game; it's worth a half-Pendant.  Olmec: tell us about Temple Game #2."

Olmec continues:
"According to legend, Kamehameha V didn't like the original hand of the statue he had built in front of Ali?i?lani Hale, and he wanted it replaced with a new one.  However, the new hand has been lost, and in this game, you will have to retrieve it.  When Kirk gives the signal, move along the path and pull on the rope below you as you maneuver it along the slot.  When you get to a hole in the slot, pull the first knot in the rope through the hole and continue on to the next hole.  At each hole, you can only pull enough of the rope to get past one knot, and you may not fall off the walkway or let go of the rope.
"The first player to reach the end of the walkway and pull the statue hand through the space at the end? or the one that's further along at the end of 60 seconds? wins!"
The camera transitions over to Kirk. "Let's put 60 seconds on the clock," he says simply, and the countdown clock reappears in the bottom-right corner of the screen? along with a silver half-Pendant in the upper-right corner of the screen? as he takes a few steps back and the camera pans up to show the players on the slotted tracks, several feet above the studio floor. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
Cody and Courtney start to run along the raised tracks towards the first holes, but very quickly, two different strategies emerge. "This game is two-part, and it looks like the Silver Snakes might've got it!" Kirk commentates. "The Blue Barracudas are fast, though? can they catch up?" In just a few seconds, Courtney's apparent "pull as you go" strategy enables her to pull the first knot up through the first hole as soon as she arrives at it with 53 seconds to go.  On the other hand, Cody spends a bit more time pulling the rope up when he arrives at the hole, delaying him.  He finally moves on with 49 seconds left, after almost losing the rope. "Blue Barracudas had a little trouble? he almost lost his rope!" Courtney's strategy continues to work wonders for her; she gets the second, slightly-larger knot through the appropriate hole with a full 46 seconds left, then moves in for the U-turn in the track. "Silver Snakes about halfway there? but here come the Blue Barracudas!" Sure enough, Cody pulls the second knot through its hole with 38 seconds to go; he trots on towards the U-bend while Courtney is already pulling the third knot up. "Silver Snakes way in the lead! They just need one more!" Sure enough, Courtney moves on from the third hole with 35 seconds to go, but Cody keeps going? until he tries to pull rapidly at the third hole, but ultimately loses his grip on the rope with 29 seconds still on the clock.
"That's it!" exclaims Kirk, stopping Courtney as he runs over.  The indicators vanish from the screen, and the players sit down on the ledges and drop down; they are slowly lowered to the ground by their support cords.  Spotters rush over to free the two from their harnesses as Kirk continues. "The Blue Barracudas didn't make it all the way without losing their rope? That gives the Silver Snakes another half-Pendant of Life!" The audience briefly cheers for Courtney, who claps along with a wide grin on her face. "So now the Silver Snakes have one full Pendant, the Blue Barracudas don't have any yet? but this next game is worth a full Pendant, and the Blue Barracudas can tie it up.  Olmec: tell us about Temple Game #3."

Olmec narrates:
"Ali?i?lani Hale took a long time to construct, and the workers started with a lot of stone and rubble.  In this game, you will have to clear some rubble of your own.  When Kirk gives the signal, grab a boulder and throw it onto the chute above you.  When it rolls off the other side, your partner must catch the boulder without it hitting the ground, and place it in your bin.  Then, go on to the next one."
"The team with the most boulders in their bin at the end of 60 seconds? wins!"
"This is for the Temple!" Kirk reminds everyone as the camera transitions over to him. "Let's put 60 seconds on the clock." The clock reappears in the bottom-right corner, and a silver full Pendant appears in the upper-right corner as Kirk backs up and exits the camera frame. "On your marks, get set, GO!"
Cody and Jordan rush out towards the first boulders and throw them up onto the chutes above fairly quickly, then move backwards so that their partners, whose backs are connected to their own by bungee cords strung through a separating wall, can catch them. "They got their first boulders rolling, and now they gotta rush out and catch them!" Adriana narrowly catches the first boulder, and tosses it in the Blue Barracudas' bin with 52 seconds to go.  On the other hand, Jordan and Courtney don't work fast enough to reach the first boulder, and both teams move towards the middle again. "It's tough! It takes a lot of communication, and they can't see each other?!" Early on, the teams both have trouble moving back and forth fairly quickly; the second boulders aren't tossed onto the chutes until the :46 mark. "It takes a lot of trust, but we'll see who gets it first!" On the second attempt, however, both teams fail to reach their boulders in time; they are forced to move back towards the middle again with a little over forty seconds to go.
"Both teams having some trouble!" Kirk remarks as the teams move back for their third attempts, but rush and fail miserably again (:35). "Blue Barracudas already got one, but the Silver Snakes have yet to score!" The teams move out again as the second half begins, but while the Silver Snakes once again fall short, Cody backs up fast enough that Adriana catches the next boulder with 25 seconds to go, adding another point to the Blue Barracudas' score. "The Blue Barracudas are goin' strong? they know they need this game!" On the next turn, however, Courtney finally reaches far enough out that she catches a boulder, and drops it in her team's bin with eighteen seconds to go.  At the same time, the Blue Barracudas, now moving faster, are rushing back to catch another boulder.  This attempt turns out to be a close miss, unfortunately, as Adriana reacts a little too late, but this leaves them with less ground to backtrack (:15).
"Might have time for one or two more?!" Cody and Jordan each send another boulder up onto their respective chutes with twelve seconds left, and the players move away from the middle. "They gotta move fast here!" Mistiming costs the teams again, but the boys do have enough time to toss one last boulder each, with five seconds to go.  In a last-ditch effort, the teams rush out, but only the Blue Barracudas score.  Courtney dives for the catch a little too late, but Adriana drops her team's third boulder in their bin just before time runs out.  The Pendant of Life vanishes from the screen, the countdown clock splinters and a pattern of ceiling spotlights flashes to indicate that time is up.
"All right, stop right there!" shouts Kirk, running onscreen.  The players freeze, and pairs of spotters move in to free the players from their harnesses? and in effect, each other? while Kirk moves over to the Silver Snakes' side. "Let's start with the Silver Snakes.  They got?" he pulls the only boulder out of the bin? "one boulder.  And the Blue Barracudas?" he runs over to the other side and then pulls out the boulders one at a time as he counts? "one, two? three boulders! The Blue Barracudas get the full Pendant, so now each team has a Pendant.  It's a tie, so let's bring in the tiebreaker podium!"

The camera cuts to two spotters rolling in the tiebreaker pedestal, and when they approach the teams, all four players are suddenly out of their harnesses and in front of the equipment for the final Temple Game. "All right? Blue over there, Silver over there?" Kirk asks as the spotters then walk off and the players run over to the pedestal; the Blue Barracudas stand behind the camera-left gong, the Silver Snakes camera-right. "Okay, here are your tiebreaker rules.  In a second, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, hit the gong in front of you.  You'll have three seconds to answer and I must accept your first response.  If you're right, you and your partner will be going inside the Temple in search of the Replaced Hand, but if you're wrong or you run out of time, I'll give the other team a chance.  All clear?"
The players nod in response.
"Okay.  Olmec!" Kirk shouts. "What's the final question?"

Olmec asks:
"Was the Kamehameha statue in front of Ali?i?lani Hale clothed in: A grass tunic, Golden robes or A muumuu?"
Adriana hits the gong first: "Golden robes??"
Olmec takes a second to reply.
"That? is? correct."
"Olmec's made his decision!" Kirk exclaims as Adriana and Cody hug and shout in celebration. "The Blue Barracudas are goin' to the Temple!" The Barracudas separate, then are congratulated by the Silver Snakes as the audience continues to cheer. "Both teams fought hard? Good sportsmanship! The Silver Snakes won't be going away empty-handed.  Here's what we got for them." Jordan and Courtney will each be receiving a $100 U.S. Savings Bond provided by Nestle.
The screen wipes to reveal only Kirk and the Blue Barracudas standing by the tiebreaker pedestal. "We'll see if the Blue Barracudas can make it through Olmec's Temple and retrieve the Replaced Hand of Al-lonny Holly," he declares, "right after this!" The camera swings over to the Coconut Harvest and focuses in on one of the trees growing near the stage-left wall.  The show's logo reforms over this shot and the camera fades to black for commercials.
Title: Rediscovery EP: The Replaced Hand of Ali?i?lani Hale
Post by: The Ancient Warrior on November 26, 2010, 06:00:49 PM
When the camera returns from the second commercial break, the show's logo is partially covering a shot of the fog machine at the side of the Moat.  The Pendant of Life splits, the title shrinks into the distance and the camera segues to Kirk standing in front of the Temple's stairs, to the camera-right of the Blue Barracudas. "Welcome back to Legends!" Kirk says to the camera. "Cody and Adriana have proven themselves worthy and now've earned the right to enter the Temple.  But first, Olmec's gonna give them some information to help them retrieve the Replaced Hand of Al-lonny Holly."
Olmec begins to give the rundown:
"You COULD start? by running up to the Room of the Ancient Masks! Push in the correct mask, and pass into the Upper Terrace! There you must choose your next path; you could race up into the Observatory.  Read the instructions on the far wall with the telescope, and follow them to open the door to the Central Reef.  Solve the correct puzzle to open the door to the Tiki Village, where you can grab the Replaced Hand of Ali?i?lani Hale.  Next, you might choose to enter the SHRIIIIIIINE of the SIIIIL-ver Monkey! Assemble the statue, and you may be headed toward the Pirate's Cove! Place the torch in the correct holder to go back, or spin the ship's wheel and enter the Graveyard of Ships.
"Stand on the correct grave to go upstairs? but beware the Temple Guards that may inhabit the buried pirates!  Or, you might plow through the wall and into the Viper's Nest.  Reach into the snake jars and find the key, and you'll enter the Bamboo Forest! If you escape, you might have a chance to enter the Cannon Room.  Load the three cannonballs into the cannon, and if the rock slab is up, you can crawl back through the Coconut Harvest and finally climb through the Cave, rrrrace down the STAIRS and back through the Temple Gate.  The choices are yours and yours alone!" Olmec pauses for a second. "You won 1 Pendant in the Temple Games.  Who's going first?"
"I am," says Adriana.
"Very well, Adriana!" replies Olmec as Kirk hands out the Pendants of Life. "When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the Temple and make your way towards the Hand.  Hidden inside the Temple are three secret passages that may lead you into the Bamboo Forest, and Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms.  You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on BUT? if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Cody's turn to enter and try his luck.  Hidden somewhere in the Temple are the two halves of your Pendant.  If you can find both of them, you will get an extra life.  If you can reach the Replaced Hand, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards? will vanish.  Return through the gates with the Replaced Hand of Ali?i?lani Hale in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!"
?   For just getting into the Temple, they're both going to get a Schwinn Mesa mountain bike.
?   If they can grab the Hand in three minutes, they're also going to get an Xzibit Video Game Rocker provided by Dreamseat.
?   And if they can bring the Replaced Hand out of the Temple before three minutes is up, they'll both be going to Hawaii! In the heart of Waikiki, the Best Western Ohana Waikiki Tower participates in the Young Travelers Club.  Just steps away from Waikiki Beach, an area pulsing with excitement, shopping and entertainment!

The camera cuts back from the grand prize to show Kirk and the Blue Barracudas one last time before the bonus round begins. "Will the Blue Barracudas be going to Hawaii?" remarks Kirk. "We're about to find out.  Adriana: Let's get you out in front.  Mouthpieces in.  Olmec: will you lower your gate?"
Olmec groans gutturally as he lowers the gate; the faint orange lights under him are turned off.
"Put three minutes on the clock." The countdown clock appears onscreen. "On your mark, get set, GO!"

"There goes Adriana, running up into the Temple!" Kirk starts the commentary as Adriana races up the stairs and into the Room of the Ancient Masks. "In the room, she's gotta hit three masks!" She pushes in the two masks on the back wall of the room as she runs by; the second one opens the door to the Upper Terrace, and she heads on through with 2:46 to go. "She's got a Pendant and plenty of time!" Adriana jogs across the closer-to-the-foreground of the two guardrail-lined catwalks connecting the side ledges of the room, and hits the actuator for the door to the Central Reef, which opens. "She's moving fast! She knows you can't waste time in the Temple!" Adriana crawls through the passageway and enters the Central Reef with 2:37 left, then goes straight to the fake fish tank in the front of the room.
"She's going with the fish tank," Kirk explains as Adriana reaches inside and pulls out the fish one at a time, "where she'll have to hook the fish up on the walls!" Adriana doesn't leave the fish tank until she has all five plastic fish in her hands, then moves towards the stage-right wall of the room with 2:29 remaining.  She finds the two hooks on that wall fairly quickly, and moves across to the camera-left wall immediately after (2:22). "She's got two? she's still got her Pendant, and no Temple Guards yet!" Adriana hooks the third fish without a lot of trouble, but takes a few more seconds to find the other two hooks. "She's looking for the hook? Can she find it?" Eventually, Adriana hooks the fourth fish? and the fifth, not too far away? and with a quick flash, the panel covering the ladder leading upward shoots up, and the door leading downward opens with 2:14 to go. "Oh, which way's she gonna go?" Kirk asks rhetorically before Adriana moves; she chooses to go down and scrambles down the ladder into the Cannon Room; she also points at a half-Pendant hanging from one of the rungs before she touches the ground with 2:06 on the clock.  She moves towards the cannon, but something jumps out from the front-right corner of the room?
"TEMPLE GUARD!" exclaims Kirk, and Adriana shrieks as the Temple Guard approaches. "She's gotta give 'im the Pendant? their only Pendant!" After a couple seconds of hesitation, Adriana gives the Temple Guard her Pendant of Life, and he starts heading to the back of the room to exit with a second more than two minutes on the clock. "Her team's out of Pendants," continues Kirk as Adriana moves around in search of the cannonballs, "but somewhere in the Temple are two halves of another Pendant! Can they find 'em? Will they need 'em?" Adriana finds her first cannonball by the stage-left wall with 1:56 to go, and quickly goes to the front of the room to load it into the cannon. "Next time a Temple Guard gets 'er, it'll be time for Cody! He's ready to go if he's gotta!"
"Go Adri!" cheers Cody. "C'mon; you can do it!"
"She's gotta stuff three cannonballs into the cannon to open a door!" explains Kirk as Adriana picks up a second cannonball near the Temple Guard door (1:48).  She then makes her way over to the ladder and picks up the third cannonball there, using her other hand. "She's got the other two? now they just gotta go in the cannon!" Without much difficulty, Adriana loads each cannonball into the cannon; afterwards, the tip of the cannon's fuse lights up, and a shaft of light enters the room from the camera-left side when the door to the Bamboo Forest opens.  Adriana moves toward the newly-opened passageway, and she enters the Bamboo Forest with 1:36 remaining.
"All right Adriana! Right now she's right underneath the Statue Hand!" commentates Kirk as Adriana reaches out for a high, horizontal bamboo shoot among the many poles that make up the first of three parallel, web-like bamboo tangles in the room.  She takes a couple seconds to fully latch onto the tangle, and then makes her way towards the back of the room to a large opening, through which she moves with 1:29 to go. "She's tough! This is one tough surfer girl!" Adriana carefully steps across to the second tangle, making contact after a few seconds (1:25), and descends towards a lower opening slightly closer to the foreground.  After this, she drops down to the floor and steps through a ground-level opening in the final bamboo tangle, reaching the other side of the room with 1:17 remaining. "She's got a minute n' fifteen? she could still bring it on home!" Adriana opens the closer-to-the-foreground of the two crawl tubes leading left from the Bamboo Forest? not noticing the half-Pendant embedded in the actuator? and scrambles into the Viper's Nest.  However, immediately after she enters the Nest, she runs across the room and smashes through the breakaway rock wall, entering the Graveyard of Ships with 1:10 left.
"She's still got a little more than a minute left!" declares Kirk as Adriana moves towards the back of the room. "She's gotta stand on one of those graves and then the door will open!" She steps on the stage-right grave and presses down on the embedded actuator with her feet, which triggers the door to the Shrine of the Monkey and causes the iron slab impeding access to the Pirate's Cove to rise (1:06). "That opened the doors; now she's gotta find which way to go?!" Adriana looks up as she moves towards the closest ladder, then starts to climb up and scrambles through the small doorway to enter the Shrine of the Silver Monkey with 57 seconds left. "She's just one room away from the Replaced Hand of Ali-anni Hali!" As soon as Adriana makes it through the doorway, she gets up, runs over to the back-left shelf and climbs onto it, grabbing the base.  She then moves across to the other shelf in the back of the room and grabs the torso of the statue, then takes the two pieces to the front of the room (0:49). "She knows how to put the monkey together? first the base, then the middle? and then the head!" Sure enough, Adriana puts the base on the platform without much trouble, then easily puts the torso on top with 42 seconds remaining. "Now she's gotta get the head and jam it down!" Adriana jumps up and grabs the head; she then takes it to the front platform and jams it into the statue with 36 seconds left, opening the doors to the Pirate's Cove and the Tiki Village. "And now she's into the room! Get the Hand!" Adriana promptly dashes over to the ladder leading downward, and picks up the Replaced Hand with 33 seconds to go!
"SHE'S GOT THE HAND!" shouts Kirk, as the different doors leading out of the Tiki Village start to open up. "All the doors are open!" Adriana runs up the stairs into the Observatory, then starts to climb downward with 27 seconds on the clock. "She's going down the Observatory? er, down into the Center of the Reef, with 25 seconds!" She jumps down the ladder near the bottom, and dashes toward the camera-right passageway with 21 seconds to go. "She's going back into the Pit of Despair? Time's running out, but can she do it?" Adriana stands up after crawling back into the Upper Terrace with seventeen seconds remaining, and bolts across the further-back of the two catwalks.  She runs up the stairs into the Room of the Ancient Masks with twelve seconds left, then dashes towards the entrance to the room and the staircase leading downward. "She's got ten seconds left! Nine? eight? seven? six? five? She made it!" Adriana rushes past the landing at which the Temple Gate stood with the clock reading "0:05"; the clock then vanishes from the screen as Adriana runs down the last few steps and darts offscreen to the right.
"She's?" Kirk stifles a laugh as he and Cody take a few steps towards Adriana; the camera turns to show her hunched over and panting. "She got the Hand! They did it all!" Adriana weakly holds up her arm; Kirk takes her wrist and holds the arm with the Hand high. "They got all the prizes: the mountain bike, the video game chair? they're goin' to Hawaii!" Cody is seen cheering along with the audience; he runs over and helps Adriana stand up straight. "They're tired and out of breath, but I know they had a great time, and we gotta get outta here.  I don't wanna, but we gotta.  Check us again for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!" Cody and Kirk wave at the camera with their free hands; the camera pans over to the Upper Terrace and Central Reef, and also shows the Bamboo Forest, Tiki Village, the fog machine at the end of the Moat and Adriana starting to regain her strength as the credits roll.

This episode was a very exciting one in the later rounds.  The "surfboard and rope" Moat surprisingly took a minute before the Red Jaguars rang in as the fourth team, but they and the Purple Parrots lost to the Blue Barracudas and Silver Snakes at the Temple Games.  None of the games? "Pole with Items," "Tethered Item" and "Boulder Pass"? were new, but the Silver Snakes won the first two before the Blue Barracudas won the third, forcing a tiebreaker.  They also rang in first, and thanks to Adriana's quick answer, won the round.

Teams with only one Pendant of Life tend to do very well in the Temple Run because the Temple Guards are generally easier to avoid, and that's definitely true of this run.  Adriana started on the upper floor and smartly chose the Central Reef over the Observatory, which would've been nothing more than a simple redirect.  She met her only Temple Guard in the Cannon Room, where she stumbled a little, but after that, she blazed across the rest of the bottom floor, and put the monkey together without any trouble.

Adriana's exit route wasn't the smartest, but it didn't matter? with 33 seconds left at the time of the artifact grab, she was able to make it out of the Temple with the Replaced Hand twenty-eight seconds later.  But the funniest part happened immediately afterward: after coming down the steps, she ran offscreen before stopping to catch her breath! Her teammate, Cody, was excited for the win and very eager to help her recover after the close victory, and Adriana seemed happy even as she was gasping for air.

Trivia and Records:
This is only the second solo victory by a team that won just a single Pendant? the first was "The Cork of Robert Hooke" (Season 2, Layout VI), which was also, coincidentally enough, a Blue Barracudas win.
