The team game that used the giant wheel was from Thornwood Gavel, not Lion Slashed Jacket. And yeah, I was honestly shocked this episode ranked as high as it did. Especially considering how overlooked it is. We all talk about episodes like Belle Boyd, Lawrence of Arabia, and Royal Torque, yet nobody ever says a word about Chandragupta. Also, as I said in my review, people thought this was the last episode ever because:

Quote
Also, Kirk doesn't end the show on "Join us again next time...." like he usually does at the end of each show. Instead, Kirk just announces the prizes, and the credits roll soon after. This led most of the fandom to believe that this was the final episode of Season 3. But, it was probably just some bad editing.

And good luck with Silver Saddle Horn. I personally thought it was one of the worst, most boring episodes ever.

I don't think that Queen Boadicea is highly praised except the temple run. :P The rest of the episode is plain average for the most part, admittedly. Which reminds me, I might claim that episode soon to review. I've always liked Chandragupta though and never had a problem with it. Although it is kind of overlooked because nothing really noteworthy happens in the earlier rounds. But that doesn't take away how great it was.  Andrea did a great job in the temple and I find it very hard to point out a flaw in her performance. This production day in general featured a great moat, good temple game rounds (Bandit Queen and Judge Roy Bean), and excellent wins (Bandit Queen and Chandragupta).

I have a feeling Silver Saddle Horn is going to get a very low ranking too. Although I don't thing it should take as long as Golden Stallion to review. It was a pretty bad episode if you look at it as a whole.

Queen Boadicea is praised A LOT around here, I think it's a little too overpraised in a way. Sure, Nate was a great player, but Lissy kind of brought the team down. You can have that one, I don't have it screencapped. And I definitely expect Silver Saddle Horn to get a low score. I'm guessing mid 4 range, since it has "filler episode" written all over it.

I love Queen Boadiceae because it was one of the few good Red Jaguars teams that were actually good and fun to watch. The whole episode itself though was kind of averafe though. Just like how I love Brian and Carly from Two-Cornered Hat even though that episode is kind of overpraised too. I prefer Polynesian Girl altogether over Queen Boadicea either way. Now that is a very exciting episode IMO and would've ranked on "Catherine the Great" level if the Silver Snakes actually won. :P

And Silver Saddle Horn on the other hand brings shame to the Red Jaguars. Which is too bad, because Vicky moved fast in the temple too. If only the Treasure Chest wasn't so worthless though. But she really should've stayed low too.  :?

I finally finished my review for "Silver Saddle Horn". It didn't take me as long as Golden Stallion, but it was definitely a boring and unremarkable episode. Despite the low score, I actually don't hate this episode. I just don't bother watching it since it was uneventful and forgettable. The temple run is kind of disappointing too since Vicky was fast.  :?

THE SILVER SADDLE HORN OF HANNIBAL

MOAT: 1/10

This episode featured the longest recorded moat on the entire show. Not the longest moat that it took to complete (that goes to the Stone Head/Cracked Crown moat), but the longest one recorded for the audience. And it is very strange that this moat took a long time too because none of the other episodes from this production day had a long moat like this one. The moat itself was pretty bland and nothing special. The first player had to cross the moat by using their upper body strength to shimmy across the rope over their head. Once she reached the other side, they had to take another rope and tie it to a pole so their partner could use it to cross. The first four teams to cross this moat would go onto the Steps of Knowledge. Why did this moat take so long to complete? Because the first player on each team had trouble using the one rope to get to the other side. Since they didn't have a bottom rope to support their feet, they had to rely on their upper body strength to get them across. The second players job was pretty easy to get across. Overall, this was a very long and tedious moat to watch. You just couldn't wait until it was over!

LEGEND: 5.5/10

One of the greatest Army Generals to ever live lead 60,000 men and 38 elephants through Spain and France, and over the Alps into Italy. His name was Hannibal and he crushed the Romans in their worst defeat in history. Legend has it, the idea came to him in a dream. One day, Hannibal summoned his spiritual adviser, Mumbo, and said he dreamed he was floating above the ground on something gray with wings. While riding it, he crushed the city of Rome. He asked Mumbo what he thought of this. Mumbo told Hannibal to take a group of elephants over the Alps and into Rome. Hannibal bought 38 elephants from an elephant merchant, and he was so pleased that he gave Hannibal a Silver Saddle Horn. Hannibal won his battle and gave his Silver Saddle Horn to Mumbo as a token of his appreciation.

This was a pretty average legend. All it really talks about is Hannibal having a dream and how he bought 38 elephants in order to fight Rome. I would've liked to see more details about the battle against Rome, but Season 1 legends were never really that sophisticated in the first place. Other than that, this legend was pretty bland and the name Mumbo sounds a little to absurd. Nothing really ro say about this story.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 6/10

The Red Jaguars were the first team to go onto the temple games after Vicky answered 3/4 of the first questions asked correctly. The Orange Iguanas and Green Monkeys were head-to-head until the second to last step where the Green Monkeys got the last question correct and got a chance to move onto the next round. There was only one wrong answer given early on by the Green Monkeys, which was a pretty hard question asked too. Other than that, nothing stands out about this Steps of Knowledge round

TEMPLE GAMES: 6.5/10

The temple games featured Damian and Vicky of the Red Jaguars and their opponents were Lee and Jessica of the Green Monkeys. Even though it is not stated in his temple interview, but Lee of the Green Monkeys was British since you can hear it in his accent. The only other English player on the show was Janet from "The Priceless Portrait of the Polynesian Girl". The temple games were actually pretty decent somewhat. Both individual games featured close competition, and I liked the elephant theme used for this round. Plus, this episode featured the rare belly sliding game too, which I thought looked fun.

Temple Game #1 - Hannibal Helper

Jessica and Vicky had to climb the Alps and collect all of the stranded elephants. Both girls had to climb the mountain and collect the four elephants along the way and put it in their bags. The first team to collect all four elephants or the team furthest along after 60 seconds will be the winners. In the end, Jessica collected her elephants faster and won with 16 seconds remaining.

Temple Game #2 - Slide like an Elephant

Damian and Lee were on a soapy ramp and they had to slide on their bellies down the ramp. The objective of this temple game is for each player to slide as far as they can. The player that slides the furthest after 60 seconds will win. The final result was very close for both players and it honestly look like a tie. But Damian was further along after time ended, so Kirk rewarded the Red Jaguars with the half-pendant.

Temple Game #3 - Rebuild the Column

In the team game, both players had to work together to rebuild a column. They had to take turns pulling themselves up the column and putting the ring at the top. When one player was done, the second player had to climb the column and do the same thing. The players had to alternate until all of the rings were placed up. The first team to put the most rings on the column after 60 seconds will win. In the end, the Red Jaguars won 7-6 and gave the team 1.5 pendants into the temple.

TEMPLE RUN: 3/10

This is one of those temple runs where taking one wrong turn ruins the chance for a team at having a successful run. Vicky was actually making really good time in the temple before making a wrong turn into the Heart Room. By the time she entered her fifth room, a minute didn't even past by on the clock yet. Unfortunately, she hit trouble once she entered the Treasure Room. The Treasure Room was a dead end for her and it also housed a temple guard. With no where to go, Vicky retreats back into the Heart Room and goes up to the Observatory and then spends the next minute looping between the Heart Room, Treasure Room, and Observatory. When she finally gets her head together, she heads back down into the Throne room and is removed from the Holes of Python. Damian enters with 48 seconds left on the clock, but it is not enough time to make any sort of progress. As a result, his temple time ends with him entering the Tomb of the Ancient Kings.

Honestly, this was not a bad team at all. However, Vicky made the wrong choice of entering the Heart Room. This just made her waste time running into dead ends and detours. Had she not done this, I think this team could've actually won. Although it makes me wonder why the Treasure Chest never opened. This would've been the perfect situation for it to work. This room was probably the biggest waste of space on the show.

FINAL VERDICT: 4.4/10
"Silver Saddle Horn" was an all around uneventful episode that was extremely boring. None of the rounds were good in any way, and it was average at most. The moat was easily the worst part about this episode. It was so long and boring, and it was the longest moat ever recorded on tape. The moat is what hurts this episode's score a lot. Other than that, the rest of the episode was average. The temple run was pretty disappointing like most Season 1 runs seemed to turn out to be. The sad part was that Vicky was fast, but it was one wrong turn that spelled doom for this team. My final recommendation would be to watch this episode for the sake of completion. If you choose not to watch this episode, then you are definitely not missing anything important. It wasn't a bad episode, but it was mediocre and very boring too.

Hannibal is definitely a boring episode. The moat was the worst part, the Blue Barracudas and the Silver Snakes didn't get anyone across. It was one of those moats where it was obvious who the four teams would be. The legend was just average, although the 38 elephants part was interesting. The temple game sequence was unique, and it wasn't just the same overused games you'd usually see in Season 1. The temple run was very disappointing. They would've won if Vicky didn't detour through the whole central shaft and Treasure Room. Such a shame, she was fast too. Yet another disappointing Red Jaguar temple run, though they weren't a bad team at all, like you said.

Overall, good review. :mrred: I'm gonna review Lost Hornpipe next, I'm sure you're looking forward to that.

I can honestly see Pirate Captain finishing higher than Lawrence of Arabia and Mussel-Shell Armor. That whole episode was amazing and fun to watch. I can't think of one round of that episode that was not awesome and had such high quality. That episode use to be barely in my top 10, but now it is making a run for my most favorite episode. Although it will never beat Lost Gold Mine or Annie Taylor. ;)

And for my next one, I might actually do Roland next since it was on the same day as Pirate Captain. And we should be done with that production day once both episodes are completed. It was a great production day, minus Enormous Feather. In the mean time though, I think I am going to work on Sir Edmund Hillary. I know mot of that episode by heart, so it shouldn't be hard to write.  :mrsilver:

We haven't done Royal Torque yet. But you can have that one because I don't have it screencapped. And yeah, there is no doubt in my mind that Lost Hornpipe will finish high. I don't know if it will rank in the 9 range, but it'll definitely be in the same tier as Apanuugpak and Lawrence of Arabia. ;) And good luck with Roland and Sir Edmund Hilary. Those are some pretty strong episodes, so I know those will rank high. :mrsilver: :mrred:

At long last, here's my episode review on "The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain."

THE LOST HORNPIPE OF THE PIRATE CAPTAIN

MOAT: 7/10

For this moat, the players had to dive on a slippery footpath and pull themselves across with a rope. If they were unable to reach the rope, fell into the water, or if they touched the sides, they had to go back and start all over again. This was a decent moat, albeit a tad long, and most of the teams seemed to struggle to get across. Jarrid and Jessica had very little trouble, and were the first to finish. Which was proof that this team was strong even from the beginning. In the end, the Green Monkeys, Purple Parrots, Blue Barracudas, and the Red Jaguars ended up advancing to the Steps of Knowledge.

LEGEND: 8/10

This legend spoke about Captain John Greenwood, who was captain of his own ship at the age of 21. However, Greenwood was overcome by a treacherous pirate by the name of Joseph Wheeland. While Greenwood's crew was terrified of Wheeland, Greenwood himself wasn't, and told Wheeland to take his ship and and let his men go free. Wheeland then took out his hornpipe, and took over Greenwood's ship and counted their booty. Wheeland also wanted Greenwood's cargo, and took Greenwood to the cabin and locked Wheeland and his men inside. Greenwood managed to dodge the musket balls that were aimed at him, and he cut the ship free and sailed away. Wheeland ended up going down with his ship, and his hornpipe ended up in the temple. This was a great legend in my opinion, and I liked how it didn't cross the line into being too cheesy. *coughBifocalMonoclecough*

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 8/10

The Steps of Knowledge was a decent round, even if some questionable answers were excepted. The best example of this was the "musical thing that does a jig" answer the Red Jaguars gave, which was still "close enough" for Olmec. Also, the Blue Barracudas made a nice comeback after making one correct guess late into the round. The Purple Parrots ended up being first to finish on the Steps of Knowledge. And the Green Monkeys followed suit to join them not long after.

TEMPLE GAMES: 9/10

The temple games featured a close and great competition, and had a very unique set of games used. In the first game, Jarrid and Brent had to push a huge ball and knock over the pirates/columns. Brent blazed through this game, so much so that Jarrid had a hard time keeping up with him! In the end, Brent beat Jarrid with about 30 seconds left on the clock. In the second game Jessica and Mary had to grab a barnacle and place it in their basket, all while hanging upside down. Both girls ended up tying the game. So it was Purple leading Green 1-0.5 before the final game. In the third game, the teams had to push their partner in sacks and knock down the pirate ships. Jessica and Jarrid OWNED this game, and knocked over all three ships in 20 seconds. This gave the Green Monkeys the full pendant, barely edging out the Purple Parrots 1.5-1, and winning a trip to the temple!

TEMPLE RUN: 10/10

This temple run was flawless. Both Jessica and Jarrid were beasts in the temple. Jessica goes in first and she's very speedy. I'll go as far as saying she was THE speediest female contestant in the shows history. She blazes through the entire central shaft with no problem, is unphased by the temple guard in the Chamber, and makes it as far as the Room of the Ancient Warriors with 1:40 remaining. Simply incredible. It was in the Room of the Ancient Warriors however, where Jessica was removed from the temple with 1:32 left on the clock. Jarrid enters the temple soon after, and he's even faster. After assembling the monkey in a quick fashion, he enters the Room of the Secret Password, which would've been costly had a temple guard been in the room. Thankfully, Jarrid quickly realizes his mistake and enters the Quicksand Bog to grab the Hornpipe with 36 seconds remaining. Jarrid then blazes across the top floor, (where he came from), and escapes with 14 seconds left on the clock! Excellent team and temple run, even Kirk deemed them as "one of the best teams we've ever had!"

FINAL VERDICT: 8.4/10

While it was not enough to overthrow Apanuugpak and Lawrence of Arabia, this was a great episode from beginning to end. The only lowest rated round was the moat, which was a little lengthy. So it did drag the score down just a little bit. But all the other rounds were very exciting, especially the temple run. Jessica and Jarrid are simply put, THE best team in legends history. Look at they way they destroyed the central shaft. Why couldn't more teams be like them? I definitely recommend this episode, no other way around it.

I loved Pirate Captain and it is my third all time favorite episode after Annie Taylor and Lawrence of Arabia.   The theme to this episode was Jessica and Jarrid owning everything. The slippery path moat was pretty good. Not my most favorite moat on the show (I liked the one used in Chandragupta and Thornwood Gavel the most), but it was creative and looked fun. The legend was Pirate themed, which we have seen many times on Legends. But it was a good story and miles better than Bifocal Monocle. The artifact was pretty cool also. I remember the Steps of Knowledge round too for the "Musical instrument that does a jig" answer. :P Olmec accepted it of course, showing how lenient the producers were in S3. If this was S1, then that answer would've been shot down before the player finishing giving it. :o

The temple games were fun and this is my favorite temple games round in S3. I loved the Pirate theme they used for this game. Plus, the Purple Parrots and Green Monkeys were both great teams. Both teams deserved to go to the temple and they both looked really good. Especially Jarrid and Jessica in the last team game. Notice how this episode shared the same temple game sequence as Enormous Feather. But unlike that episode, the Pirate Captain one is amazing and fun.   And of course Jessica and Jarrid owned the temple run! The temple run is amazing and I honestly like this win more than Mussel-Shell Armor. Jessica owned the central shaft and she made it look really easy. She made it to the Room of the Ancient Warriors and not even half of the run went by yet. Jarrid was a good second runner himself. I honestly don't hold the detour into the Room of the Secret Password against him all the time because it didn't effect him in the end. He corrected himself quickly and got the Lost Hornpipe out with 14 seconds to spare! A very memorable temple win, and this is the best overall team to win in the temple. I love this run very much as well as the ending with Jarrid playing around with the Lost Hornpipe.    :P

Great review, and as I mentioned earlier Pirate Captain ranks up there very high as one of my all-time favorite episodes.   It looks like it finishes with the same score as Annie Taylor and Jewel-Encrusted Egg. That is a good thing because those are top 5 episodes. There might be one episode that could out rank the top 2 rated episodes, but I will save that one for later.  :mrblue:

Other than that, I am definitely going to do Roland next. I haven't seen that episode in a while and it is the last Red Jaguars win we need to cover.  :mrred:

Shaka Zulu hasn't been covered yet, so we still need one more Red Jaguar win to go. ;)

And yeah, I wish both teams would've gone to the temple in Lost Hornpipe. They were one and two in the moat and both performed well in the temple games. But at the end of the day, I'm glad the Green Monkeys won because they were amazing. And I also don't hold the Secret Password detour against Jarrid either. At least he corrected the mistake, and it didn't actually affect the final outcome of the game. Same with him not grabbing the half pendant in the King's Storeroom as well. While this run was amazing, I still like Apanuugpak more. While both Jessica and Jarrid owned everything, I liked Gator and his run better. Either way, both runs were solid. I also remember this episode sharing the exact temple game sequence as Enormous Feather, but we all know Lost Hornpipe was better. And I remember the Brent the "bag collector," Kirk's air hump at the end of the run, and Jarrid playing the Hornpipe during the credits. Man, the memorable things this whole episode had.

And good luck with Roland. That was a pretty fun episode, even though I never cared about the win. Still, it might rank pretty high, just not as high as Pirate Captain. Though it's MUCH better than most Season 3 episodes.

Wait, no one covered the best solo win of all time yet?  Just kidding, I actually don't care for that episode at all and found it to be pretty annoying. That is like one of those episodes someone is going to review just for the sake of completion. And that is not because for the lame win either.       had an easy win, but I enjoyed the whole episode. Shaka Zulu is just lame and boring.  :|

I expect Roland to finish pretty high also. Definitely no where near Pirate Captain's score. But the whole episode was great though IIRC even though it has been a year since I watched it. I remember all the Roland puns, the competitive temple games, and the easy temple win. This was an amazing production day with Roland, Queen Boadicea, and Pirate Captain. Then we got Enormous Feather, which was absolute crap. I am glad that we got this episode reviewed. But I am looking forward to Roland for sure.  :mrred:  :mrred:  :mrred:  :mrred:

Well, Shaka Zulu was a lame episode as a whole, but it wasn't THAT bad. Neither was Silk Ladder, and that also hasn't been covered yet. Both wins suck, but the rest of the rounds really aren't bad at all. Plus, I don't have either episode screencapped, so I won't review them either. Roland was an exciting episode though, and I predict it will probably rank in the high 7/low 8 range.

I actually like Robin Hood episode as a whole. The whole episode was fun and memorable, from the silly answers in the Steps to the competitive temple games. But that temple layout was way too easy. I honestly think even John and Tia would've won in that layout. And the Silver Snakes were a good team throughout before the temple win. Shaka Zulu was just average and boring.

And for reference, here is the remaining uncovered wins:

Red Jaguars: Shaka Zulu, Roland
Blue Barracudas: Geronimo, Map to the Lost Gold Mine, and Buddha
Green Monkeys: Ahmed Baba, Sforza
Orange Iguanas: Done!
Purple Parrots: Freydis, Egyptian Queen
Silver Snakes: Sultan Saladin,     , Benzibab

I am going to have Roland up by tonight hopefully. ;)

Wrong. I already covered Geronimo. ;)
