Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now.

(Kirk is seen coming down the steps of the temple)

Kirk: Thank you, thank you! It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of the Telescope of Sir Francis Drake.

Kirk: Ah, the Telescope of Sir Francis Drake. Well, the legend is set and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the Telescope. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They're going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec's temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and here's how they're gonna have to do it today.

Before you lies an ancient bridge that is stripped. There is a rope above and one below. When I say go, one player from each team will hang from the top rope and walk across the bottom one. When a partner drops, he must go back and try again. When the second partner reaches the other side, he must get down and run over here and hit the gong! (Kirk hits the Red Jaguars' gong). The first four teams to hit their gong will go on to the Steps of Knowledge! Are you ready?

Teams: Yeah!

Kirk: Are you ready Olmec?

Olmec: Let's rock.

Kirk: Teams, On your Marks.....Get Set........GO!!!!!!!

(Event occurs)

Kirk: All right, you can stop! We've got our four teams... going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Red Jaguars, the Blue Barracudas, The Orange Iguanas, and the Purple Parrots! Green Monkeys and Silver Snakes did a great job. We got a nice gift for them, and here's what it is.

(Prizes are announced)

Kirk: As we continue our quest, it?s now time for Olmec to tell us about the legend of the Telescope of Sir Francis Drake. But pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the temple.

Olmec: Most people say that Magellan was the first to sail round the world. But the truth is that explorer and privateer Sir Francis Drake was the first one to make that accomplishment. When he circumnavigated the world and came back, Queen Elizabeth handsomely rewarded him. However, In 1596, he died of dysentery while anchored off the coast of  Panama where some Spanish treasure ships had sought shelter. He was buried at sea in a lead coffin, near Portobelo, Panama. His belongigs did not come with him. In fact, his telescope ended up in the temple. Your quest is to retrieve it and bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you, Olmec. But tell us, where is the telescope

(Camera shows the telescope, and zooms out to show its location)

Olmec: The Telescope of Sir Francis Drake can be found in The Tropical Forest.

Kirk: Alright, eams, you are standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about the legend you just heard. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. Go ahead, stomp on it!

(Blue Barracudas stomp in first)

Kirk: Okay, Blue Barracudas. You'll have to answer the question. If you're right, move down one step, but if you're wrong and run out of time, you'll have to give another team a chance to answer. The first two teams that make it to the bottom step will go on to the next round. Olmec, we're ready for your first question.

Olmec: Who is said to be the first person to sail round the world? Magellan, Bartholomew Diaz, or Leif Erickson?

(The Orange Iguanas ring in.)

Orange Iguanas: Magellan.

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Orange Iguanas move down to the second step.)

Olmec: Besides being an explorer, Sir Francis Drake was also a privateer, pirate, or crew member?

(The Orange Iguanas ring in.)

Orange Iguanas: Privateer.

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Orange Iguanas move down to the third step.)

Olmec: What was Drakes' famous accomplishment?

(The Orange Iguanas ring in.)

Orange Iguanas: Circumnavigating the world!

Olmec: Correct!

(The Orange Iguanas reach the bottom step.)

Kirk: That's it! The Orange Iguanas are at the bottom step! Olmec, we are ready for the next question.

Olmec: Did Francis Drake die in Panama, America, or England?

(The Blue Barracudas ring in.)

Blue Barracudas: America.

Olmec: Nope!

(The Red Jaguars ring in.)

Red Jaguars: Panama!

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Red Jaguars move down to the second step.)


Olmec: Who awarded Drake handsomely after his accomplishment?

(The Red Jaguars ring in.)

Red Jaguars: Queen Elizabeth!

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Red Jaguars move down to the third step.)

Olmec: Did Francis Drake die because of dysentry, cholera, or yellow fever?

(The Red Jaguars ring in.)

Red Jaguars: Dysentry!

Olmec: (Pauses)That is correct!

(The Red Jaguars reach the bottom step.)

Kirk: Alright, alright! Delay reaction by Olmec, but he got the Red Jaguars to the temple games, and the Orange Iguanas, too! But the Blue Barracudas and Purple Parrots did a great job, too. We got a great gift for 'em, here's what it is.

(Prize is announced)

Kirk: These two teams will be competing for the rights to enter Olmec's temple and they're going to do it right after this!

(Pendant joins)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let?s get to know our team players. On the Red Jaguars, we have Andre. He likes any sports and he wants to be a proffesional artist. And his partner Liz wants to be a pianist when she grows up! Let's hear it for the Red Jaguars!

(Applause)

Kirk: And on the Orange Iguanas we have Kyle. He likes to write and he wants to be an actor. And his partner Christina wants to be an actress! This team loves acting, I guess. Let's hear it for the Orange Iguanas!

(Applause)

Kirk: Okay teams, why don't you get ready for your games, and I?ll tell you what?s going to happen. In the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant)They need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. And here's temple game number one!

Going on voyages are hard things to do and you need preparations before one. A hard one is funding a voyage and it costs a lot of money. Now, when I say go, run here on this trampoline and jump up onto this web here, and smash the lid of the compartment to take a coin out. Then run back and drop it in your bin. The team that has the most coins at the end of sixty seconds win!

We got to fund a voyage! Let's set the clock for sixty seconds!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Well, the time is up! Let's check it out over here. The Orange Iguanas got one, two, three, four, five, six coins. The Red Jaguars got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven coins, the Red Jaguars get the half pendant of life! The next game is also worth a half pendant. Let's check it out!

The essential thing for sailing is a sail. You have a large ship for yourself, but your sail is broken. When I say go, rush into your ship and use the trampolines to help you move to the top. Then replace the broken sail with a new one that you have. The you must get back down again. The first player to get down, or the team that's further along at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Getting ready to sail! Let's set the clock for sixty seconds!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay, Andre managed to get down first, so that gives the Red Jaguars the half pendant! The Orange Iguana can still catch up. The final game will give you a full pendant and so let's check it out!

Francis Drake was an explorer and therefore, he sailed. Now you will sail too. When I say go, race your boat down the ramp and use your paddles to get across this rope. Then use your inner tube to pull yourself back home. The first team that gets out or the team that is further along at the end of sixty seconds wins.

Okay! This is for the temple! Let's set the clock for sixty seconds. On your marks, get set, GO!!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay, looks like the Red Jaguars got back first! They get the full pendant and so the Rec Jaguars are going to the temple! Orange Iguanas, come on, come over here. You did a great job and you're not goin' away empty handed. We've got a nice gift for both of you and here it is.

(Prizes are announced)

Kirk: The Red Jaguars fought back all the way and now they will retrieve the Telescope of Sir Francis Drake. And guess what? They're gonna do it right after this!

(Pendant joins)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. The Rec Jaguars have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec will give us some information on how to retrieve the Telescope of Sir Francis Drake .

Olmec: You could start by running through the Mining Chamber and climbing down into the Pit of Despair. Crawl through the pit, then race into the Chameleon Chamber. Change the color of the right chameleon and you could choose to go up the Lion's Lair, or into the Tropical Forest. If you escape, you may have a chance to enter the Sacred Safari. Find the right key to go upstairs, or plough through the wall and into the Lion Cage. Ride the cage up into the Viper's Nest and pull the snakes from the jars to open the doors to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue and you may be headed for the Vine Drop. Next, race up to the Mouth of the Jaguar. Put the fangs in the mouth and jump back into the Pit. Pass through the Room of the Three Gargoyles, race down the stairs and back through the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good luck.

Kirk: Okay, you guys won two pendants in the temple games, and here they are. Now, who's going first?

Liz: I am!

Kirk: Alright, when I say go, you will race through the gates into the temple and make your way into the Tropical Forest, hopefully. Be careful though? because the Temple has many locked doors and dead ends. Also hidden in the Temple there are also Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a Temple Guard will jump out and grab you. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Andre's turn to enter and try his luck. If you can reach the telescope, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. You?ll have three minutes, and for your efforts you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!

(Prizes announced)

Kirk: Okay we wanna get the Red Jaguars a vacation. Brendon, here let's get in position! Put your mouthpieces in 'cause you never know when you're gonna run. Let's set the clock for three minutes....

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GOO!!!

(Liz races right into the Mining Chamber and she is greeted by a temple guard.)

(She enters the Pit of Despair with difficulty and there is about 2:50 left on the clock)

(The door to the Chameleon Chamber opens with 2:47 left)

(The second chameleon opens the doors with 2:30 left)

(Liz heads up into the Lion's Lair but is taken out.)

(Andre retraces his parter's steps and reaches the Lion's Lair with 2:02 left.)

(As Andre enters the Vine Drop, a third temple guard appears and Andre fumbles with his pendant. 1:45 remain on the clock.)

(Andre assmebles the Silver Monkey with 1:21 left and descends into the Sacred Safari)

(He grabs the artifact with 1:00 left and Kirk shouts, "He's got it! He's got it!)

Kirk: Here he comes! 54 seconds left! He's in the Chameleon Chamber! Hang on, he's going up!

(Andre takes a rather strange route out of the temple)

Kirk: Can he make it? He's in the Pit of Despair! 15 seconds left! Oh, he's in the dark Mining Chamber! Can he make it? He's having a bit of trouble there. He's still got time! Five, four, THREE....he made it! He made it! Can you believe it! He made it! (Off microphone)They got it all!(Back to microphone)They got it all folks, they did it! We gotta get out of here, I don't wanna, but we've gotta. Check us out next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle style! Buh-bye!

Summary: Both players were fine and the second runner was very smart to use the Shrine-Safari passage. Not much to say about this episode, except that the second runner could have gotten out with possibly half a minute if he didn't go up to the Lion's Lair.

[The Ancient Warrior]

The path out of the Temple is kinda confusing.  It looks like Andre went back into the Chameleon Chamber for no reason after jumping into the Pit of Despair.  But otherwise, a great episode and an unusually good Red Jaguars win.
