LOTHT Renewed EP: The Map to Captain Bluebeard's Treasure
« on: December 04, 2010, 07:41:27 AM »
Episode 5px]

The camera winds and twists its way through a lush jungle of many plants and then it ends at the base of an ancient Mayan temple. The giant stone head at the base of the temple starts to say:

"Legends of the Hidden Temple!" The pendant joins together and then zooms out to show the whole Temple. With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!

Kirk comes right down the Temple stairs. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Thank you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lots of treasures that're protected by mysterious Mayan temple guards. Only Olmec knows about each of the treasures in his Temple. Which one are gonna hear about today?"

"The legend of the Map to Captain Bluebeard's Treasure," Olmec answers.

"Oh, the Map to Captain Bluebeard's Treasure!" Kirk says in response. "Well the legend is set, and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the Treasure Map. Will it be: -the camera pans to each team in order of introduction-
"The Red Jaguars," The short-haired boy and the dirty-blonde girl applaud.
"The Blue Barracudas," The tall boy and the equally tall black girl applaud.
"The Green Monkeys," The brown-haired boy and the brunette girl with a braided ponytail applaud.
"The Orange Iguanas," The short-haired boy and the dark-haired girl with glasses applaud.
"The Purple Parrots," The blond boy and the freckled, auburn girl with a braided ponytail applaud.
"or The Silver Snakes?" The somewhat tall boy and the curly-brown-haired girl with a ponytail applaud.

"They'll have to pass some tough physical and mental tests," Kirk says, "but in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's Temple. First, they must cross the moat, and Olmec's gonna tell them how they have to do it today:
Olmec narrates: "Before you are two parallel bars that span the width of the Moat. Each team has four wooden planks. When Kirk gives the signal, one player from each team will take the planks and put them on the bars to build a bridge. You'll both crawl out onto the planks, and then the second player will grab the plank that's close to their back and hand it up, move on up, and keep going like that until you're both at the other side of the Moat. If either one of you falls or if you miss a plank, you'll both have to start over again. When both players get off the bridge on the other end of the Moat, run over and hit the gong." Kirk slams down on the Silver Snakes' gong to demonstrate. "The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round."
"All right, let?s get started,? Kirk says. ?Hey teams, are you ready?"
The players all cheer and shout in response.
"Olmec, are you ready?" asks Kirk.
"I've been waiting and I'm so ready!" Olmec shouts as a response.
"All right," Kirk replies. "On your mark, get set, GO!"

The teams all take off at more or less the same rate. The Orange Iguanas and the Red Jaguars seem to have a lead over the others, but the Green Monkeys are right behind them, followed by the Blue Barracudas. The Red Jaguars keep their lead and they're first to hit their gong. A few seconds later, the Green Monkeys begin to pass up the Orange Iguanas and they lock in as the second team.
The Blue Barracuda girl almost falls through the planks, but quickly recovers. The Purple Parrots come out of nowhere and lock in as the third team. A second later, the Orange Iguanas drop their plank, but they pick it up and go a little more quicker. The Silver Snakes get much more faster on the home stretch, however. As the Moat's mist begins to slightly vanish and the Moat has only three-quarters of mist remaining, the Silver Snakes zoom past the Blue Barracudas and the Orange Iguanas and they claim the fourth position.
"That?s it!" announces Kirk. "We?ve got our four teams! Silver Snakes blazed through the Moat in that last minute! They?re going on to the next round, and so are the Purple Parrots?" the camera moves to each of the teams as Kirk announces their team names? "and the Green Monkeys? and the Red Jaguars! The Blue Barracudas and the Orange Iguanas gave it a great effort. They're not going away empty-handed, we've got a great gift for them for playing and here's what it is." Lee, Trynina, Tyler and Maureen will each be receiving a $50 Savings Bond provided by Nestle.

The four teams are now at the top of the Steps of Knowledge accompanied by Kirk. "As the quest continues, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the Legend of the Map to Captain Bluebeard's Treasure. Teams, you have pay attention, because your knowledge of the Legend can bring you a step closer to Olmec's Temple."
Olmec starts to tell the legend:
"One of the most cunning, bold and meanest pirates of them all was Bluebeard, who lived during the mid-1600s. His original name was  Eduard de Barbe-Bleue and he lived in a castle on the island of St. Thomas and he was a ladies' man, charming many women who lived nearby. Once, while he was in the Spanish Main of South America, he captured a Spanish Caravel and obtained all the treasure, including a beautiful maiden by the name of Senorita Mercedes.
"Hey there, mi senorita! How'd you like to come to my castle?" he asked.
"Oh, mi amigo," Mercedes said. "I would love to go!"
"When they got back to the castle, Bluebeard kept her, beloved but inviolate, at his tower. Legend has it that while he was away, Mercedes discovered all of his treasures and love letters from other ladies. In an outrage, she let the whole town pillage all of his gold and jewels. The jealous girls, in return accused her of being a witch and threatened to burn her at the stake. But, she was saved at the last minute by Bluebeard's return.
"Bluebeard! You came back for me!"
"Anything for my little lady and my treasure!"
"As a returning gift, he gave her the map to his treasure and when they died, the map vanished for decades. Years later, it made its way to the Temple. Your task is to find the Map to Captain Bluebeard's Treasure and bring it here."

"Thanks a lot, Olmec!" Kirk says after Olmec finishes telling the legend. "So tell us, where is this Map to Bluebeard's Treasure?"
Olmec replies:
"The Map to Captain Bluebeard's Treasure can be found in the Daaaaark Forest." The camera zooms in on the Treasure Map on the second gold door behind the rightmost tree, then it fades back to Kirk.

"Teams," Kirk begins, walking down the steps, "you're now standing on the Steps of Knowledge, and in a minute, Olmec will ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're right, you're gonna move down to the next level, but if you're wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. Olmec, we're now ready for your first question."

Olmec begins:
"Which of these was Bluebeard's original name: William Kidd, Jack Sparrow or Edouard de Barbe-Bleue?"
The Silver Snake boy hits the marking first: "Edward da Barbie-Blue...?"
"Correct,? replies Olmec.
?Okay Silver Snakes, step down!? says Kirk. The Silver Snakes then move down one step. ?Next question, Olmec.?

Olmec asks:
"Did Bluebeard live in a castle on: Port Royal, St. Thomas or-"
A stomp by the Purple Parrot girl interrupts Olmec: "St. Thomas."
?That is correct,? Olmec replies, and the Purple Parrots go down a step.

Olmec asks:
"Did Bluebeard live in the: 1800s, 1500s or 1600s?"
The Green Monkey boy buzzes in first: "Uh....1600s...?"
"That is correct," Olmec replies as the Green Monkeys go down a step.
"It?s tied up on the second step,? Kirk narrates. ?Olmec, next question."

Olmec now asks:
"Which of these was the name of the maiden that loved Bluebeard: Mercedes, Alejandra or Vitoria?"
No one stomps down for a second, but the Green Monkey girl then stomps down: "Mercedes...?"
?That is correct,? Olmec replies, and the Green Monkeys move down another step.
?Just like that, the Green Monkeys are only one step away from Olmec?s Temple,? says Kirk. ?Olmec, next question.?

Olmec now asks:
"When Bluebeard was away, did Mercedes find all of his: silver and gold, diamonds and money or treasures and love letters?"
The Red Jaguar boy rings in: "All of his jewels...?"
?That is not one of our three choices,? replies Olmec. "The three choices are-"
As Olmec is about to reread the choices, the Silver Snake girl cuts him off: "His treasures and love letters from other girls in the town."
?That is correct,? says Olmec, and the Silver Snakes step down again.
?Silver Snakes are tied with the Green Monkeys and are one step away from the Temple Games,? Kirk narrates. ?Red Jaguars and Purple Parrots can still catch up. Next question, Olmec.?

"In which of these chains of seaports did Bluebeard meet Mercedes: the Irish Main, the Spanish Main or the British Main?"
After a second, the Green Monkey girl rings in: "The Spanish Main."
?That is correct!? Olmec shouts, and the Green Monkeys get to move down to the bottom step.
?We?ve got our first team going to the Temple Games,? says Kirk, ?but who?s gonna join them: the Red Jaguars, the Purple Parrots or the Silver Snakes? Next question.?

Olmec now asks:
"When the girls of the town came to the castle did they accuse Mercedes of: Kidnapping, witchcraft or theft?"
The Red Jaguar boy hits the marking: "Witchcraft...?"
"That is correct," Olmec replies as the Red Jaguars move down a step. "This match is heating up," says Kirk. "Next question."

Olmec asks:
"Which of these was the penalty of being a witch: Beheading, poisoning or burning at the stake?"
The Purple Parrot boy buzzes in: "Uhh...burned at the stake?"
"That is correct,? says Olmec, and the Purple Parrots step down again.
?Purple Parrots are one step away from the Temple Games,? Kirk narrates. ?Red Jaguars can still catch up. Next question, Olmec.?

Olmec asks:
"Which of these was another famous pirate who was also a ladies man: Calico Jack, Long John Silver or Henry Morgan?"
The Red Jaguar girl stomps down and guesses: "Calico Jack...?"
"Incorrect," Olmec replies. Then the Purple Parrot girl gongs in: "Henry Morgan...?"
?That is correct!? Olmec shouts, and the Purple Parrots can move down to the bottom step.

?We?ve got our two teams right here!? announces Kirk. ?The Green Monkeys and the Purple Parrots! Red Jaguars and the Silver Snakes gave it a great effort too. They're not going away empty-handed, we got a great gift for them, and here's what it is." Andrew, Nicole, Jeremy and Mandy will each be receiving a backpack provided by Eastpak.
Kirk is standing at the bottom of the Steps of Knowledge between the Green Monkeys and the Purple Parrots. ?These teams are gonna be playing for the right to enter Olmec?s Temple,? he says, ?and they?re gonna do it right after this!?
The camera zooms in on the waterfall and then the pendant joins together to fade to commercial break.

LOTHT Renewed EP: The Map to Captain Bluebeard's Treasure
« Reply #2 on: January 02, 2011, 07:02:26 AM »
The camera returns from break to zoom out to show the entire Temple with the games in front as the pendant splits. Kirk is now standing in front of the Temple's steps with the teams at his sides. ?Welcome back to Legends,? he says. ?Now, the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let?s get to know our two tough teams."
"On the Green Monkeys, we have Chris: he plays second base in baseball and he wants to be an architect when he's older. And his partner here is Lauren; she loves to play ping-pong and she wants to be a pediatrician when she's older. Let's hear it for the Green Monkeys!" The brown-haired boy and the brunette girl with a braided ponytail tied by a crimson-red scrunchie applaud with the audience.
"And on the Purple Parrots, we have Robert: he plays track on his school team and his best event is the 70-yard dash. And his partner here is Samantha; she's a cheerleader at her school and her favorite subject is literature. Let's hear it for the Purple Parrots!" The blond boy and the freckled auburn girl with a braided ponytail tied by a blue scrunchie applaud with the audience.
?You guys ready to play?? asks Kirk.
?YEAH!? The players reply.
?Okay, so girls go get ready for the first Temple Game, guys go get ready for the second Temple Game,? Kirk says, pointing in different directions, and the players walk offscreen. "In the Temple Games, each team is competing to get?" he opens a pouch and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? "Pendants of Life. They're gonna need those Pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through the Temple. There are three Temple Games, and Olmec, tell us about Temple Game number 1."

Olmec begins:
"For pirates to get back and forth to the Caribbean, they had to take maps and an atlas to guide them while they were there. In this game, you will retrieve four portions of the New World atlas. When Kirk gives the signal, crawl to the first cube, grab the first part of the atlas, come back and put it in the proper place on the board. Then, go back to get the next piece of atlas. Along the way you must try to avoid the swinging obstacles. If you?re hit, you?ll have to go back and start again.?
?The first player to place all four parts on the board? or the player that?s correctly placed the most atlas parts in 60 seconds? wins.?
The camera fades to Kirk. ?Well this may be a quick collection of just one map," he says. ?Let?s get the sandbags back in position and start swinging them.? The spotters do just that. ?And now let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. ?On your marks, get set, GO!?
Lauren and Samantha crawl out to the first cube immediately and neither girl gets hit. However, on the second attempt, Samantha is hit at the second cube, while Lauren successfully gets the second part with 42 seconds as Samantha restarts. On the fifth attempt for Samantha, she gets the second piece of map with 28 seconds left as Lauren goes back from being hit. On the sixth attempt for Lauren, she gets the third piece with 11 seconds left as Samantha has to return to the start. Ten seconds later, the clock explodes, indicating that time's up. "Okay," Kirk says. "Let's count 'em up. The Purple Parrots got one, two pieces of the atlas; and the Green Monkeys had one, two, three pieces of atlas! Green Monkeys win the half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds briefly as Lauren high-fives Kirk. "The Purple Parrots can still catch up in the next game 'cause it's worth a half-pendant. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game number 2."

Olmec continues:
"Like any other pirate, Bluebeard would always keep all his gold and other valuable possessions in his castle. Here, you're going to store away some golden objects. You're now harnessed into a rotating lever and when Kirk gives the signal, run around to the pedestal, grab a gold artifact and come back around to place it in your bin."
"The first player with more gold artifacts at the end of 60 seconds wins."
"When I was a kid, I always used to keep my stuff stored away like this," Kirk says. ?And now let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. ?On your marks, get set, GO!?
Chris and Robert run around and try to have enough momentum to get a gold piece, but only Robert does and drops it in his bin with 51 seconds. On the next two attempts for Chris, he's too low to get the gold until the 33 second mark where he grabs a piece and gets it in his bin. The boys each get some more gold artifacts at almost the same time until Chris fumbles to grab another piece and then the clock explodes to indicate time's up. "Okay, stop right there!" The spotters each stop the two players and bring over the baskets. "The Green Monkeys had-" he pulls out a necklace, small shield and what looks like an orb-"One, two, three golden artifacts; and the Purple Parrots have-" he pulls out a lighthouse, jeweled egg, tall calix and a scepter-"One, two, three, four gold artifacts! The Purple Parrots get the half pendant of life!" The audience applauds briefly. "It's tied up one half apiece. The third and final game's worth a full pendant and Olmec's gonna tell us about it."

Olmec narrates:
"While on his way through the Spanish Main, Bluebeard destroyed ships that were a part of the Spanish Caravels. In this game, you're going to sink three of the Caravel's galleons. One of you is suspended in a sack and when Kirk gives the signal, your partner will swing you towards one of the ships and sink it by knocking it down.
"The first team to knock down all 3 ships or whoever's further along at the end of 60 seconds wins!"
The camera transitions from Olmec to Kirk. "This is for the Temple," he comments. "Let's put 60 seconds on the clock," The clock appears onscreen at the bottom-right corner. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
Lauren and Samantha pull Chris and Robert back towards them and aim at the leftmost statues. On the first two swings, nobody knocks the ships down, but on the third attempt for the Purple Parrots, they get the middle one down with 46 seconds left and about 12 seconds later, the Green Monkeys knock down the rightmost one. On the next five swings, both teams miss, but with 9 seconds left, Green knocks down the leftmost one and 4 seconds later, Purple gets the rightmost one down and then time's up.
?That?s it! Time's up!" Kirk runs over as the spotters stop the sacks holding the boys and they stop swinging. "Both teams knocked down two ships, so it's a tie! They each get the full Pendant of Life!" The audience applauds for a moment. "It's now a Pendant and a half apiece, we go to the tiebreaker pedestal."

Two spotters roll in the tiebreaker pedestal, then walk off as the boys run over to it? joined by their female partners mere seconds later? and stand behind their respective gongs as directed by Kirk. "Okay, here's the tiebreaker rules. In a moment, Olmec will ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, hit the gong in front of you. You'll have three seconds to answer and I must accept your first response. If you're right, you and your partner will be going inside the Temple in search of The Map to Captain Bluebeard's Treasure. But if you're wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other team a chance. All clear?"
The players nod in response.
"Olmec!" Kirk shouts. "What's the final question?"

Olmec asks:
"Which of these lakes is a present-day source for oil in the Americas: Lake Tanganyika, Lake Huron or Lake Maracaibo?"
Chris hits the gong first: "Lake Maracaibo."
There is a brief pause.
?That? is? correct.?
"The Green Monkeys are goin' into the Temple!" Kirk declares as Chris and Lauren high-ten and hug several times. Then he walks over to talk to the Purple Parrots. "Purple Parrots were a superb team all day from the Moat to the Temple Games. They aren't going away empty-handed 'cause here's what we have for them." Robert and Samantha will each be receiving a copy of Ice Age: The Meltdown on DVD.
The prize goes offscreen, and Kirk is now standing with the Green Monkeys. "Now we're gonna see if the Green Monkeys can make it through Olmec's Temple and retrieve the Map to Captain Bluebeard's Treasure right after the break!" The camera zooms out to show the whole Temple and then stops on the Treasure Map in the Dark Forest and then fades for commercial.
