LOTHT Wild Jungle Edition

Season 2, Layout 2, Episode 26

(The camera moves through a mass of thick palm trees, revealing portions of an ancient mayan temple as a waterfall and animals are heard. The jungle ends, and Olmec is revealed)

Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple!

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms as the pendant crashes together)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!

(The pendant now splinters to reveal Kirk climbing out of the Jungle Crevice and running up the Steps of Knowledge)

Kirk: Thank you very much! Thank you! Nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle! The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of the Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack!

Kirk: Ooh, the Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack! Well, the legend is set, and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the skull. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They're going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and Olmec will tell us how they have to do it today.

Olmec: Before you stands a broken icefield that has made its way into the moat. When Kirk gives the signal, hop onto the first floating block. If it stays, you can move on to the next block, but if it sinks, or you fall into the Moat, you must go back and start again. When you hop off onto the deck, it'll be your partner's turn to cross the same way. When both players have reached the other side, run over and hit the gong!

(Kirk hits the Silver Snake?s gong to demonstrate)

Olmec: The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round!

Kirk: Alright, teams! Are you ready?

Teams: Yeeaaahhh!!!!

Kirk: Olmec, are you ready?

Olmec: Ohhhh yeah!

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Alright! We have our four teams! Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Silver Snakes??and the Purple Parrots??and the Blue Barracudas??and the Red Jaguars! Orange Iguanas and Green Monkeys gave it a great effort too. They will not be going away empty handed though, here's what we have for them:

(The Orange Iguanas and the Green Monkeys will each be receiving a small prize package provided by Regent Sports)

Kirk: As our quest continues, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack. But teams, pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple.

Olmec: One of the most fearless pirates to sail the seas was Calico Jack. He was known for wearing Calico clothing, but also for using a pirate's flag with a skull and crossed cutlasses to make his ships distinct. Legend has it that when Calico Jack had finished painting his first flag with a different design, his first mate knocked the white paint onto the flag.

Calico Jack: You idiot! Look what you've done!

First Mate: Sorry Captain, I'll paint it again for you!

Olmec: The first mate decided to redesign the flag as well. When Calico Jack saw it, he was impressed.

Calico Jack: I love it! Let's use your design on all of our flags!

Olmec: Calico Jack used the design for all of his flags, but he kept the original flag safe with him to remember his first mate's bright idea, and eventually it found its way to the temple! You must find the Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack and bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you Olmec! But tell us, where is the Crossed-Cutlass Flag?

Olmec: The Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack can be found in the Vine Drop.

(The camera shows the Vine Drop on Olmec's last word, then zooms in on the flag lying in the wall of plants)

Kirk: Alright! Teams, you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're right, you'll move down to the next level. If you're wrong or run out of time, I'm going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. (Pendant Splits)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let's hear it for Robert and Emilia of the Blue Barracudas! As well as Jonathan and Irene of the Red Jaguars!

(Applause)

Kirk: Alright, so you guys wanna play?

Teams: YEAH!

Kirk: Alright, go get ready, and I'll explain what will happen here. In the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant). The winning team will need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games, and Olmec will tell us about Temple Game #1. Olmec?

Olmec: Prisons like the one Calico Jack was imprisoned in, many criminals stole treasure. Now you'll need to bring all the criminals' treasure to be given back to its rightful owner. When Kirk gives the signal, climb up into the first room and grab a piece of the treasure. Then climb into the next room and do it again. When you reach the top, put all of the treasure into the donation box. The first player to give back all the treasure, or the team that's further along at the end of sixty seconds wins.

Kirk: Alright, Olmec. Let's see if they can return all that stolen treasure. Set the clock for sixty seconds, please!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay, let's stop our players! None of them got to the top to the donation box, but the Red Jaguars did pick up four pieces of their treasure, and the Blue Barracudas only picked up three; the Red Jaguars get the half pendant of life! Blue Barracudas'll have a chance to catch up. Olmec, tell us about our next temple game.

Olmec: Pirate captains needed to provide enough weapons for the crew to fight with another ship's crew in case of attack. In this game, you need to get your weapons for your crew. When Kirk gives the signal, crawl out to the first cube and grab a cutlass. Then crawl back and put it in your bin, and crawl out to the next cube to do it again. On your journeys, you must avoid the swinging obstacles! If you are hit, you must go back and start the trip again. The first team to collect all four cutlasses, or the team that's further along at the end of sixty seconds wins.

Kirk: Weapons are important in a pirate's life - and these weapons will give them pendants of life! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Alright, time's up! Let's check it out. The Blue Barracudas got one...two...three cutlasses! And the Red Jaguars got one...two...three cutlasses! It's a tie, they each get the half pendant of life. So now we're going to the third and final game -  Olmec, tell us about it.

Olmec: To get to the treasure, Calico Jack often had to kill many of the ship's crew members. You will only have to take down four crew members. When Kirk gives the signal, load your slingshot with a cannonball and shoot it at the statues in front of you. Then your partner will shoot a ball. The first team to knock down all four statues, or the team that knocks down the most statues at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Kirk: Take 'em down! Let's see if they can! Put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Alright! Stop the clock! The Red Jaguars knocked down all four statues with four seconds to go, and that means they're getting the full pendant of life! So that gives them two pendants, the Blue Barracudas have one - uh, one half! The Red Jaguars are going to the temple!

(Cheers)

Kirk: The Blue Barracudas gave it a great effort too, they're not going away empty handed, here's a great gift we have for them:

(The Blue Barracudas will be going home with a prize package from the Willy Wonka Candy Factory each)

Kirk: We're gonna find out if the Red Jaguars can go to the temple, and retrieve the Crossed-Cutlass Flag, right after this!

(Camera pans to some piles of rubble at the front of the Abandoned Camp)

(Pendant Splits)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! The Orange Iguanas have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec will give us some information on how to retrieve the Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack.

Olmec: You could start by running up into the Room of the Tropicana Birds. Press down the correct beak, and pass into the Jungle Crevice. There, swing across, and climb into the Mouth of the Jaguar. Place the four fangs into the mouth, and you might descend into the Anaconda's Sanctuary. Place the snake in the correct hole, and you could pass into the Vine Drop, where you can grab the Crossed-Cutlass Flag. There, you might climb down through the wall of plants, or pull the vines to enter the Shriiiiine...of the Siiiiilver Monkeeey! Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Catfish Cove, where you could race down the Falls into the Secret Spring. You might plow through the stone wall into the Abandoned Camp, and break open the cage to find the key! Next, climb into the Tropical Forest. If you escape, you will gain entry to the Treasury of the Monkeys - and find the right bunch of bananas to release the doors. Then, crawl through the Jungle Crevice, climb through the Mining Chamber, race down the stairs on back through the temple gates! The choices are yours and yours alone. You won two pendants in the temple games. Who's going first?

Irene: I am!

Olmec: Very well, Irene! When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the temple, and make your way towards the Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack. Hidden inside the temple are temple guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on but if you're caught without a pendant, you'll be taken out of the temple...and it will be Jonathan's turn to enter and try his luck. If you can reach the flag, all the doors of the temple will instantly unlock and the temple guards will vanish. Return through the gates with the Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded - and here's how!

Dee: For just going into the temple, you'll each be getting a sports package from Regent Sports! Whether it's basketball, soccer, baseball or volleyball, Regent is the name in games! If you grab the Broken Skull before three minutes is up, you'll also receive an Xbox 360 package. Complete with a new Xbox 360, plus two new games! From Microsoft. And if you bring the Broken Skull out of the temple before three minutes is up, you'll be going to Cancun! You'll be staying at Kyrstal Cancun, the resort for beach lovers. With excursions to the Mayan ruins. It's rich in history and rich in pleasure! From Kyrstal Cancun.

Kirk: Cancun! Let's see if we can get them there. Let's get into position, mouthpieces in because you'll never know when you'll have to go in! Olmec, lower your gate.

(Olmec moans as the gate lowers, and the lights around him switch off as he stops humming)

Kirk: Let's put three minutes on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Irene runs up into the Room of the Tropicana Birds, and pushes down the beak of the first bird she sees. The door opens, but a temple guard jumps out from behind her!)

(She screams and tosses the guard a pendant. Irene looks a little lost, but slides the door open to the Jungle Crevice and jumps down into the gap with 2:45 left)

(Hitting the actuator to the Treasury of the Monkeys, she realizes that the door's locked, so she - with a lot of difficulty - climbs up onto the protruding ledge, falling off it the first time. She hits the actuator of the Anaconda's Sanctuary - but that won't open either! Forced to take the route up to the Mouth of the Jaguar, she opens its door and begins running up the stairs with 2:11 on the clock)

(Irene then grabs two fangs and puts them into the spaces of the jaguar's teeth without much trouble. She has problems putting in the third one, trying to put it in too far into the mouth, but gets the remaining two fangs in and opens the door to the Anaconda's Sanctuary with 1:59 remaining)

(She takes the ladder down into the Anaconda's Sanctuary slowly and grabs the snake off the front pedestal. Irene puts the snake head-first into the left hole, but that won't open the door. Then she tries the other hole, and the door down to the Treasury of the Monkeys opens up with 1:47 on the clock)

(On her way down, she knocks off the two bunches of bananas, and grabs the third. She takes the one in her hand and puts it on the altar. She then throws it into the back of the room and takes the second - right as the second TEMPLE GUARD emerges from the back door with 1:40 left!)

(Jonathan immediately runs up the steps and through the Room of the Tropicana Birds - heading to the top of the Jungle Crevice. He grabs the vine, swings across and hits the actuator to the Anaconda's Sanctuary. It still won't open, so he's forced up into the Mouth of the Jaguar with 1:24 left)

(He climbs all the way down to the Treasury of the Monkeys, and by then there's only 1:10 on the clock. He grabs one of the bunches of bananas that Irene threw to the ground, places it on the altar and immediately the monkey screams and the lights dim - but the door to the Tropical Forest won't open!)

(Clearly confused, Jonathan hits it over and over again. Finally, after about five hits, the door bounces open, almost knocking Jonathan over. He gets his bearings and progresses into the Tropical Forest with 57 seconds remaining)

("MOVE!" cheers Kirk, as Jonathan stumbles through the murk and hits the actuator to the Abandoned Camp with 0:52. He climbs his way into the room, and immediately dives through the stone wall, breaking it down in the process)

(The third guard jumps out of his hiding place and captures Jonathan, as he tries to exit the Secret Spring through the corner door. He tosses the pendant down to the temple guard, and climbs into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey with 0:40 on the clock)

(He has trouble putting the base the right way, and starts building the monkey backwards. With 22 seconds remaining, he takes apart the whole thing to put it on right. The head is slammed down, and Jonathan turns towards the door of the Vine Drop with four seconds left!)

(He races up the stairs and runs towards the flag, but TIME IS UP!)

Kirk: Oh, no! He got into the room, but he couldn't grab the flag, oh my! That was so close! They did a great job all the way, and we gotta get out of here - see you next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle style! Buh-bye!

(Credits scroll as the camera pans to the remains of the stone wall in the Secret Spring)

Wild Jungle EP: The Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack
« Reply #4 on: June 08, 2009, 01:01:25 AM »
Artifact Name: The Crossed-Cutlass Flag of Calico Jack
Location: The Vine Drop
Result: Ran out of Time
Time Remaining: N/A
Pendants Won: 2
Diagram:

Summary:

Irene and Jonathan had to take a tough path to the artifact, and it didn't help that the crew wouldn't let them take any shortcuts but one, and that Irene was one of the slowest contestants to get out of the Jungle Crevice.

The team was forced down the central shaft, but Jonathan was speedy and got all the way to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey - with a whole forty seconds left! I thought the team was going to grab the flag, maybe even win, but there was no more hope in a victory when Jonathan assembled the monkey backwards - THE WHOLE THING WAS BACKWARDS! When he finally turned the entire statue around, there was only a few seconds left. Time ran out before Jonathan could grab the flag.

Trivia

~ This is the first episode to feature a four-way tie on the second to last step at the Steps of Knowledge
~ This is the closest ever that a contestant has gotten to an artifact but was unable to grab it before time was called
