Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now.

(Kirk is seen coming down the steps of the temple)

Kirk: Thank you, thank you! It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The Dried Snake-Hair of Medusa.

Kirk: Well, one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the snake-hair. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They're going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and here's how they're gonna have to do it today.

A log jam has jammed up the Moat, and there is wood strewn all over the place. When I say go, you're gonna hold onto that net above you, and make your way across the Moat by holding on to the net and stepping on the logs. Once the first partner has crossed, the second partner will make their way across, and as soon as he reaches the other side, it's his job to run over and hit th gong! (Kirk hits the Red Jaguars' gong) The first four teams to hit their gongs go on to the next round--are you ready?

Teams: Yeeaaahhh!!!!

Kirk: Olmec, are you ready?

Olmec: Let's rock!

Kirk: Teams--on your marks, Get Set, GO!!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: That was hard, but we've got our four teams now! Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Blue Barracudas and the Green Monkeys! And the Purple Parrots and the Silver Snakes! Orange Iguanas and Red Jaguars gave it a great effort too. They will not be going away empty handed though, here's what we have for them:

Kirk: As we continue our quest, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about Medusa's snake-hair. But teams, pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple.

Olmec: Long ago in a cave lived an ugly monster named Medusa. She was known to have snakes instead of hair, and turned everyone that looked at her head into stone. One day, the great hero Perseus decided to kill Medusa, and he set off to her cave. Not to be tricked by Medusa into looking at her face, he chopped off her head and brought it back. He used it to turn an evil king into stone, but decided he had no use for it, and it was forgotten. Medusa's severed head eventually dried up and decomposed--all except one snake hair that made it to the temple! Your quest is to bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you Olmec, so tell us, where is this snake?

(Camera shows the snake, then zooms out to show its location)

Olmec: The Dried Snake-Hair of Medusa can be found in the Tropical Forest.

Kirk: Alright, the Tropical Forest. Teams, you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about the legend you just heard. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're first, your step will light up. Go ahead, stomp down!

(Green stomps down first)

Alright, Green, you rang in first, so you have to answer the question. If you're right, you'll move down to the next level. If you're wrong or run out of time, I'm going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

Kirk: We've got our two teams who are going the Temple Games! They are the Orange Iguanas and the Silver Snakes! The Blue Barracudas and the Green Monkeys gave it a great effort too, and they are not going home empty handed. We got a cool prize for both of them, and here it is.

(Prizes are announced)

Kirk: These two teams will play for the right to enter Olmec's Temple, and they're gonna do it right after this!

(Pendant joins)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let's get to know our team players. On the Orange Iguanas, we have Benjamin. He likes acting and writing, hmm, maybe he'll write a movie someday! And his partner Carrisa loves singing and wants to be a tennis player when she grows up! Let's hear it for the Orange Iguanas!

(Applause)

Kirk: And on the Silver Snakes we have Ricky. He really likes sports--basketball, soccer, and swimming. And his partner Lizzy likes to dance--breakdancing, tap dancing, ballet--as long as it's dancing! Let's hear it for the Silver Snakes!

(Applause)

Kirk: Alright guys, go ahead and get ready for your games. This is what's going to happen: in the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant). They need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. And this is temple game number one:

Medusa turned many people into stone. When I say go, run out there and grab a small stone head, then place it in your basket. Then go out and grab another one. But beware the swinging obstacles on your way there! The team with more rocks at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Oh, some people are gonna get caught by Medussssaaaa! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Let's count, the Orange Iguanas got 2, 4, 6, 8 rocks, and Silver got 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11 rocks, so they get the half pendant of life. Orange can catch up in the next game--it's also worth a half pendant, and here it is:

Medusa made people into stone, and they automatically fell to the ground as they were turned into stone. When I say go, roll your boulder and try to knock over one of the other team's statues. At the same time, you need to defend your own. The team that knocks down all four statues, or the team that's further along at the end of sixty seconds wins!!

Knocking over people? Not quite nice! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: The Silver Snakes knocked down two statues, while the Orange Iguanas knocked down three, so they get the half pendant of life!  The final game is worth a full pendant; here's how it works:

Perseus had to find his way to Medusa's cave. Now you have to do the same. One partner is on each side of this board, with a route carved through it. When I say go, make your way down and up, and finally down to the end of the maze. The team that gets to the bottom of the maze first wins!

Kirk: Gotta find our way to Medusa--to the temple for you guys! On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: The Silver Snakes got down first, which gives them the full pendant! So now they have one and a half, the Orange Iguanas have a half, the Silver Snakes are going to the temple!

(Cheers)

Kirk: The Orange Iguanas gave it a great effort too, and here's a cool prize for they're taking home:

Kirk: The Silver Snakes are going to the temple, and are going to retrieve Medusa's Snake-Hair, right after this!

(Camera pans to the door leading up through the plant wall from the Tropical Forest)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. The Silver Snakes have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec will give us some information on how to retrieve the Dried Snake-Hair of Me-doo-sa.

Olmec: You could start by running to the Room of the Three Gargoyles. Push in the right tongue, and pass into the Pit of Despair. Crawl through the Pit, then climb into the Mouth of the Jaguar. Place the four fangs into their right places in the mouth, then descend into the Lion's Lair. Correctly place both lions' heads, and pass into the Lush Opening. If the door unlocks below, you could climb down through the plant wall, or, try to enter the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemlbe the statue, and you may be headed for the Forest Fire Room. Pull down on the burnt palms to open the door to the Wild Whirlpool. Slide down the tunnel, and plow through the stone wall into the Sacred Safari. Find the key, but beware--the elephants may be temple guards in disguise. Next, climb into the Tropical Forest, where you can grab the Dried Snake Hair of Medusa. Wade through the room, and you will enter the Chameleon Chamber, and change the color of the correct chameleon to release the doors. Then, you can crawl through the Pit of Despair, and finally crawl through the crawl tube and through the Mining Chamber, back to the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good luck!

Kirk: Okay, you guys won one and a half pendants in the temple games, and here they are. Now, who's going first?

Ricky: I am!

Kirk: Alright, well, when I say go, you will race through the gates into the temple and you'll make your way towards the the snakes. But be careful ? the Temple has many locked doors and dead ends. Also hidden in the Temple there are also Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a Temple Guard will jump out and grab you. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Lizzy's turn to enter and try her luck. Now, you have an extra half pendant somewhere in that temple. If you can reach the lava, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. You'll have three minutes, and for your efforts you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!

(Prizes announced)

Kirk: Now, Lizzy, what's your strategy?

Lizzy: We're gonna head to the Mining Chamber, and then down into the ball pit, and through the Chameleon Chamber, and into the Tropical Forest and grab the snake and come back..

Kirk: Well, we'll see if that works. Let's get in position! Let's put three minutes on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!!!

(Ricky races into the Mining Chamber and uses the lower crawl tube into the Pit of Despiar with 2:53 left.)

(He hits the actuator and signals the half pendant to his partner on the Chameleon Chamber's door. He slides down into the room with 2:45.)

(There is a temple guard hiding in the room, so he gives a pendant and lights up orange, then red, then blue, then silver! The door above opens with 2:32.)

(He quickly climbs up to the Lion's Lair, and grabs a head and places it on the lion quickly. It stays on and he completes the other lion with 2:23 left. He makes his way through the crawl space with 2:19 left.)

(Entering the Lush Opening, the temple guard doors flip open, and he is captured with 2:17. Lizzy starts to run into the Mining Chamber and down into the Pit of Despair.)

(She passes up the half pendant, then heads into the Chameleon Chamber with 1:48. She climbs the ladder and emerges into the Lion's Lair with 1:42.)

(She heads through the Lion's Lair, and into the Lush Opening with about 1:35. She pushes down the plants and steps on the trapdoor, but it won't open. She steps on it over and over again, until Kirk yells to "hit the actuator!" and she opens the door to the Shrine with 1:10 left.)

(Entering the Shrine, she grabs the base of the monkey, then the middle and the head with 1:06 left. She puts on the base, then the middle backwards, and the head sideways. She turns around the middle, then for some reason pulls out the head with 0:53. She puts it back on with 0:50, and all the doors open.)

(She heads down into the Safari with 0:43 left, just one room away! But for some reason, she busts through the wall into the Wild Whirlpool with 0:38 left. Before she can turn around, a temple guard emerges to end the run with 0:35 left!)

Kirk: ARGH! Temple guard! They did a great job, though, and I know they did, so do they, but we gotta go, see you next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle style! Buh-bye!

Summary:

If you ask me, this was a horrible run. Ricky was fine, and then he was taken out in the Lush Opening. And then Lizzy came in. She did everything wrong--she passed up the half pendant, she spent half a minute trying to force the trapdoor in the Lush Opening open, put the monkey together horribly, and finally busted through the wall to form a gigantic loop--but a temple guard took her out with 0:35 left.

Trivia

~The extra half-pendant rule was not said by Kirk Fogg in the temple rules, but Ricky signaled the pendant anyways.
~During the second temple game, you can see Vulcan's Last Piece of Lava in the Forest Fire Room.
~During the temple run, you can see the Remaining Pound of Tea tucked neatly into the corner of the Lush Opening.
