Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now.

(Kirk is seen coming down the steps of the temple)

Kirk: Thank you, thank you! It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of Vulcan's Last Piece of Lava.

Kirk: Well, one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve Vulcan's lava. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They're going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and here's how they're gonna have to do it today.

A log jam has jammed up the Moat, and there is wood strewn all over the place. When I say go, you're gonna hold onto that net above you, and make your way across the Moat by holding on to the net and stepping on the logs. Once the first partner has crossed, the second partner will make their way across, and as soon as he reaches the other side, it's his job to run over and hit th gong! (Kirk hits the Red Jaguars' gong) The first four teams to hit their gongs go on to the next round--are you ready?

Teams: Yeeaaahhh!!!!

Kirk: Olmec, are you ready?

Olmec: Oh yeah!

Kirk: On your marks, Get Set, GO!!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: That was hard, but we've got our four teams now! Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Red Jaguars and the Blue Barracudas! And the Green Monkeys and the Silver Snakes! Orange Iguanas and Purple Parrots gave it a great effort too. They will not be going away empty handed though, here's what we have for them:

Kirk: As we continue our quest, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about Vulcan's Last Piece of Lava. But teams, pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple.

Olmec: Once, long ago, on the island of Vulcano, lived a mighty god. His name was Vulcan, and day and night he worked as a smith, making items for other gods. He lived in a mountain smoldering with flames. He made weapons for Mars, lightning for his father, Zeus, and armor for Hercules. However, he liked to terrorise the residents of Vulcano with lightning, thunder, and red-hot lava! Legend has it, he wasn't always this way. On the peak of Mount Olympus was this child born to Zeus, but his mother was apalled by his looks and threw him down the mountain. He was raised by a sea creature, and one day, he found something rather strange--a red hot coal.

Vulcan: Oo, what's this? It's red...I like that.

Olmec: So he grabbed it and placed it in a clam which he used to start a fire with. He never let it burn out. One day, while being particularily angry, he was yelling at the fire.

Vulcan: ARRRRR!

Olmec: When he did this, the rocks turned into metals. His discovery led to him finding an interest--making things. He did trick his mother, and made a magical but beautiful trap--a chair. She was trapped in there, until she gave up and promised Vulcan marraige--to Venus. After this, he moved to Vulcano. One of his last lava flows spewed out of his mountain, which, legend has it, became a volcano. The lava eventually dried, and an earthquake caused by his anger broke of a huge chunk of it, which floated into the temple! Your quest is to bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you Olmec, so tell us, please--where is the lava?

(Camera shows the lava chunk, then zooms out to show its location)

Olmec: Vulcan's Last Piece of Lava can be found in The Forest Fire Room.

Kirk: Okay. Teams, you are standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about the legend you just heard. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're first, your step will light up. Go ahead, stomp down!

(Red stomps down first)

Alright, you rang in first, so you have to answer the question. If you're right, you'll move down to the next level. If you're wrong or run out of time, I'm going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

Kirk: We've got our two teams who are going the Temple Games! They are the Red Jaguars and the Silver Snakes! The Blue Barracudas and the Green Monkeys gave it a great effort too, and they are not going home empty handed. We got a cool prize for both of them, and here it is.

Kirk: These two teams will play for the right to enter Olmec's Temple, and they're gonna do it right after this!

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let's get to know our team players. On the Red Jaguars, we have TJ. He likes writing, singing, and breakdancing! And his partner Mel likes pop music--listening to it and singing her own pop songs, and hopes that she will be like Mariah Carey and Leona Lewis some day--famous pop stars! Let's hear it for the Red Jaguars!

(Applause)

Kirk: And on the Silver Snakes we have Maxwell. He likes to play football and run track. And his partner Laura enjoys collecting CDs and dancing.  Let's hear it for the Silver Snakes!

(Applause)

Kirk: Alright guys, go ahead and get ready for your games--girls here, boys there. (Points according). This is what's going to happen: in the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant). They need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. And this is temple game number one:

Vulcan made lightning for Zeus, armor for Hercules, and weapons for Mars. But this required collection of rocks that he would turn into the metals that he used. When I say go, run out there and grab a rock, then place it in your basket. Then go out and grab another one. Bu beware the swinging obstacles on your way there! The team with more rocks at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Collecting rocks AND avoiding them is hard work! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Let's count, the Red Jaguars got 2, 4, 6, 7 rocks, and Silver got 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 rocks, so they get the half pendant of life. Red can catch up, 'cause the next game is also worth a half pendant, and here it is:

There was ligtning, armor, and weapons to be sent to respective people. Now, when I say go, jump on the trampoline and climb up the net, and smash open a compartment at the top. It will contain a stone marker bearing either the letters "L", "A", or "W", for the three things Vulcan made. Below are baskets that also have those letters. grab the stone inside, then jump down and place it in the respective basket. The team with more stone markers at the end of sixty seconds wins! Oh, and, a stone marker in the wrong basket does not count!

Delivery time! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Let's count up. Red got 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 stone markers, and the Silver Snakes got 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 stone markers! So it's a tie--they each get the half pendant of life! The final game is worth a full pendant:

Vulcan liked to terrorise the residents of Vulcano with lightning and other things. When I say go, grab a lightning bolt and slide down the chute, and shoot it through that target. Then, when you get out of the chute, your partner will also grab a bolt and slide, and shoot it through. The team with the most bolts shot through the target at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Kirk: This is mean to Vulcano's residents! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: We need to count up again. Okay, so Red got 2, 4, 6, 7 bolts, and Silver got 2, 4, 6, 8, 11 bolts! So now they have two pendants, the Red Jaguars have a half, the Silver Snakes are going to the temple!

(Cheers)

Kirk: Hey, Red Jaguars, you guys did great, and here's a cool prize for you guys:

(Prizes are announced)

Kirk: The Silver Snakes are going to the temple, and are going to retrieve Vulcan's Last Lava, right after this!

(Camera pans to the the already-assembled water picture in the Forest Fire Room)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. The Red..Silver Snakes have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec will give us some information on how to retrieve the Vulcan's Lava.

Olmec: You could start by running to the Room of the Three Gargoyles. Push in the right tongue, and pass into the Pit of Despair. Crawl through the Pit, then climb into the Mouth of the Jaguar. Place the four fangs into their right places in the mouth, then descend into the Lion's Lair. Correctly place both lions' heads, and pass into the Lush Opening. If the door unlocks below, you could climb down through the plant wall, or, try to enter the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemlbe the statue, and you may be headed for the Forest Fire Room, where you can grab Vulcan's Last Piece of Lava. Pull down on the burnt palms to open the door to the Wild Whirlpool. Slide down the tunnel, and plow through the stone wall into the Sacred Safari. Find the key, but beware--the elephants may be temple guards in disguise. Next, climb into the Tropical Forest. Wade through the room, and you will enter the Chameleon Chamber, and change the color of the correct chameleon to release the doors. Then, you can crawl through the Pit of Despair, and finally crawl through the crawl tube and through the Mining Chamber, back to the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good luck!

Kirk: Okay, you guys won two pendants in the temple games, and here they are. Now, who's going first?

Maxwell: I am!

Kirk: Alright, well, when I say go, you will race through the gates into the temple and you'll make your way towards the the lava. But be careful ? the Temple has many locked doors and dead ends. Also hidden in the Temple there are also Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a Temple Guard will jump out and grab you. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Laura's turn to enter and try her luck. Now, you have an extra half pendant somewhere in that temple. If you can reach the lava, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. You'll have three minutes, and for your efforts you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!

(Prizes announced)

Kirk: Now, um, Maxwell, what's your strategy?

Maxwell: Well, we're gonna take the top floor and just go along to the lava. And, um, if that dosen't work, we'll take whatever opens.

Kirk: Well, we'll see if that works. Let's get in position! Let's put three minutes on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!!!

(Maxwell heads straight into The Mining Chamber and follows the top crawl tube to the Pit of Despair.)

(He quickly dives in and heads to the door of the Mouth of the Jaguar. It won't open, so he takes the bottom floor instead; 2:45 is left as he enters the Chameleon Chamber.)

(A temple guard jumps out at him, so he gives up a pendant and lights up green, then purple, then silver! The door above opens with 2:37!)

(He quickly climbs up to the Lion's Lair, and grabs the first head. It goes on and the first lion roars with 2:26. He places on the second one with 2:19, and the door to the Lush Opening opens.)

(There is a loud sound, indicating that the door below has opened. So he climbs with difficulty down into the Tropical Forest with 2:04 left.)

(Jumping inside, he wades through and hits the actuator to the Sacred Safari with 1:55 left. Busting through the wall, he meets the second temple guard!)

(Laura starts to run up the teps of the temple to The Room of the Three Gargoyles. She pushes in thright tongue, and dives toward the Pit of Despair. She climbs up, and enters the Lion's Lair.)

(Crawling across the room, she enters the Lush Opening with 1:31. She climbs down through the plants, and jumps into the Forest with 1:25.)

(She heads through the Safari, over the busted wall, and into the Wild Whirlpool. She starts to climb the slide and enters the Forest Fire Room with 1:19!)

(In the legend, the lava was on a shelf, but now it's in the fire! So she has a little trouble, but she grabs the lava chunk with roughly 1:15 left!)

(She follows the top floor, and jumps into the Pit of Despair. Crawling through the Mining Chamber, she comes out of the temple and crosses the gate with 0:41 left!)

Kirk: They did it! They did it! They got it all, everthing! Well, they did a great job, and I wanna stay, but we can't, so see you next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle style! Buh-bye!

Summary:

This was a solid win. Maxwell, luckily, was fast. He tried to carry out his original plan, but headed down when the door to The Mouth of the Jaguar faield to open. He headed up to the Lion's Lair, down through the Lush Opening, across the remainder of the bottom floor and was taken out in the Wild Whirlpool with over a minute left. Laura rushed in to the top floor, then opened the door to the Lion's Lair and saved a little time. She climbed down into the Tropical Forest, through the Sacred Safari and over the wall and climbed the slide. She grabbed the lava chunk, and raced out through the temple via the top floor.

Trivia

~The third guard was probably disguised in the Sacred Safari, as the team went through both entrance rooms and every room that the crew probably wanted them to take withot encountering a third guard, and guards in the Safari couldn't capture players till they reached in.
~When Olmec revealed the artifact in the legend and in the rundown, it was on a shelf, and the water picture was already complete. However, in the temple run, the artifact was sitting on top of the fire statue.
~This is the first episode in which a player climbs down through the wall of plants in the Lush Opening, not to mention that both team members climbed down through it.
