Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now.

(Kirk is seen coming down the steps of the temple)

Kirk: Thank you, thank you! It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of the Crumpled Drafts of William Shakespeare.

Kirk: Ahh....well, the legend is set and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve those drafts of Shakespeare. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They're going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec's temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and here's how they're gonna have to do it today.

Across the moat lie six soapy platforms. When I say go, the first partner will slide across the platform to the other side. However, this is a very slippery surface, so if you drop into the water, you must start again. When both partners have crossed, run over and hit the gong! (Kirk hits the Red Jaguras' gong) The first four teams to hit their gongs go on to the next round...are you ready?

Teams: Yeeaaahhh!!!!

Kirk: Olmec are you ready?

Olmec: Rock on!

Kirk: All right then, teams. On your marks, get set... GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: That's it! We've got our four teams! Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Red Jaguars and the Green Monkeys! And the Orange Iguanas and the Silver Snakes! Blue Barracudas and Purple Parrots gave it a great effort too. They will not be going away empty handed though, here's what we have for them:

Kirk: As we continue our quest, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the Crumpled Drafts of William Shakespeare. But teams, pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple.

Olmec: One of the most famous writers in the entire world was William Shakespeare. Whether he was writing an epic or a three-hour long musical, he put in as much effort as he could. He went through many, many drafts before coming to a final decision on what his writing. Of course, that also meant that there would be a lot of waste paper found in the back of his desk. Shakespeare himself was born in 1564, although there is something rather strage--his real birthdate is unknown. Altogether, he wrote 38 plays and two complete long poems. Legend has it, when he died in 1616, those crushed drafts in the back misteriously disappeared. One of them, "A Midsummer's Night's Dream", eneded up in the temple. Your quest is bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you Olmec. But where is this draft?

(Camera shows the title, "A Midsummer Night's Dream", then shows the papers and zooms out to their location)

Olmec: The flag can be found in the Wild Whirlpool.

Kirk: Okay! Teams, you are standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about the legend you just heard. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're first, your step will light up. Now try this!

(Red stomps down first)

Then you've got to answer the question. If you're right, you'll move down to the next level. If you're wrong or run out of time, I'm going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

Kirk: We've got our two teams who are going the Temple Games! They are the Green Monkeys and the Orange Iguanas! The Red Jaguars and the Silver Snakes gave it a great effort, and they are not going home empty handed. We got a cool prize for both of them, and here it is.

Kirk: These two teams will play for the right to enter Olmec's Temple, and they're gonna do it right after this!

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let's get to know our team players. On the Green Monkeys, we have Jordan. He likes to play badminton and likes to run the track--especially the 100 meters! And his partner Lydia likes to sing and wants to become part of an R&B group! Let's hear it for the Green Monkeys!

(Applause)

Kirk: And on the Orange Iguanas we have Bill. He likes basketball and also likes to write action stories in his free time.. And his partner Heather likes to play the guitar, play soccer, and also hang out with all of her friends. Let's hear it for the Orange Iguanas!

(Applause)

Kirk: Alright now, you guys should get ready for your games. This is what's going to happen: in the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant). They need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. And this is temple game number one:

William Shakespeare had to go through many, many drafts before finalizing his work. Now you'll have to many, many "drafts". Now when I say go, get up onto the huge wheel and spin it round. Each full 360-degree spin is considered a draft. If you fall off, then just get back on. The team with more turns at the end of sixty seconds wins!

We gotta write, so let's get started! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Let's look here on the counters...um, okay. The Green Monkeys got 14 turns. The Orange Iguanas got....16 turns! That means the Orange Iguanas get the half pendant of life! The next game is also worth a half pendant, and here it is:

William Shakespeare wanted to get rid of all his drafts completely. Now you have to do the same. When I say go, race out onto the platform and get one rolled-up draft and bring it back here, and drop it in your basket. But beware of the swinging boulder! If it hits you, you have to drop your scroll and get another. The team that has the most scrolls in their baskets at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Let's put sixty seconds on the clock! On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay! Stop now! The Orange Iguanas got 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 13 scrolls! The Green Monkeys got...uh...2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 14 scrolls! So now it's all tied up! The next game is worth a full pendant, and here it is:

Shakespeare went through many drafts. Now you'll do the same. When I say go, load your catapult with a ball and shoot it to your partner. Your partner will try and catch it, and place it on the dot that says "Draft One". Then she will climb up to the next dot and do the same. The first team to get all four drafts, or the team that's further along at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Kirk: Okay, a lot of drafts to be written. Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay, so let's see! The Green Monkeys got up to the second draft, but the Orange Iguanas got up to the third! So that means the Orange Iguanas have one and a half pendants, the Green Monkeys only have a alf, the Orange Iguanas are going to the temple!

(Cheers)

Don't worry, Green Monkeys, you guys did a good job too! You're gonna take home a cool prize:

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. The Orange Iguanas have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec will give us some information on how to retrieve the drafts.

Olmec: You could start by running through the Mining Chamber and climbing down into the Pit of Despair. Crawl through the pit, then race into the Chameleon Chamber. Change the color of the right chameleon and you could choose to go up the Lion's Lair, or into the Spider's Lair. If you escape, you may have a chance to enter the Sacred Safari. Find the right key to go upstairs, or plough through the wall and into the Wild Whirlpool, where you can grab the Crumpled Drafts of William Shakespeare. Next, climb up the slide into the Forest Fire Room, and place all the water puzzle pieces down on top of the fire to open the door to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue and you may be headed for the Vine Drop. Next, race up to the Mouth of the Jaguar. Put the fangs in the mouth and jump back into the Pit. Pass through the Room of the Three Gargoyles, race down the stairs and back through the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good luck!

Kirk: Okay, you guys won one and a half pendants in the temple games, and here they are. Now, who's going first?

Heather: I am!

Kirk:Alright, Heather, when I say go, you will race through the gates into the temple and you'll make your way towards the Wild Whirlpool, to get the draft. But be careful ? the Temple has many locked doors and dead ends. Also hidden in the Temple there are also Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a Temple Guard will jump out and grab you. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Bills's turn to enter and try his luck. Now you won one-and-a-half pendants. Hidden inside the temple is the other half of your pendant. If you find it, and you're carrying the otehr half, you will earn an extra life. If you can reach the flag, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. You'll have three minutes, and for your efforts you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!

(Prizes announced)

Kirk: Okay, let's try and get the Orange Iguanas those cool prizes! Put your mouthpieces! Let's put three minutes on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GOO!!!

(Heather chooses to run up the temple steps to the Room of Three Gargoyles. She makes good time, and opens the door to the Pit of Despair with the first tounge she presses.)

(She jumps down into the flood of green balls, with them spilling around. She then opens up the Chameleon Chamber with 2:46 left, and a temple guard captures her.)

(She lights up the chamelons in reverse team order--silver, purple, and then orange! The door to the Spider's Lair opens and she enters it with 2:38 left.)

(She then goes upwards to the Vine Drop, but takes a wrong turn up to the Mouth of the Jaguar! But before she heeds Kirk's advice to turn around, a temple guard takes her out of the temple with a whole 2:27 left.)

(Bill races into the temple, up into the Room of the Three Gargoyles and races through it into the Pit of Despair. He enters the Chameleon Chamber with 2:14 left!)

(He makes his way into the Spider's Lair and climbs the sticky strands of rope into the Vine Drop through the central door.)

(He opens up the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, grabbing the half pendant on its actuator. He needed it--a guard caught him in the Shrine with 1:53 left!)

(He grabs two of the pieces, and slowly puts together them. Unfortunetely, he jams the head on the wrong way. Kirk yells, and he turns it round and jams it down. The doors to the Forest Fire Room and the Sacred Safari both open. He chooses the Forest Fire Room with 1:31 left.)

(He starts to grab the puzzle pieces, ignoring the palm, and starts putting the first one onto the fire. Not hearing Kirk's shouts, he goes on to the second piece before pulling the palm with 1:11 left.)

(The palm does not activate the sliding door. He pulls harder, then realizes that the room was a complete dead end! He retreats to the Shrine with 1:05 left.)

(He tries to force open the camera-right door open, then realizes that the other door is open. He lightly pushes the two panels aside and goes down the ladder.)

(He climbs slowly and opens the two gold panels with 0:47 left! He reaches into one of the elephant trunks for the key, then does not know what to do with it. Kirk yells, and he immediately reacts.)

(He drops the key and breaks through the wall, grabbing the draft with 0:32 left!)

(He tries to wade through the balls as fast as he can, but trips over the rock wall at the base of the Sacred Safari, falling flat on his face in front of the camera-left elephant! Luckily, he gets up and climbs into the Spider's Lair with 0:19 left.)

(He makes his way through the room, but moves through the swampy ground and into the Chameleon Chamber with 0:08 left!)

(He then tries to climb the ladder, but races through the door of the Pit of Despair, but time is no more.)

Kirk: Awww, he didn't make it out with the drafts. However, they still got two cool prizes. I bet they enjoyed their time here! Hey, check us out next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle style! Buh-bye!

Summary:

The temple run featured two quite slow-witted players that made two wrong turns that might have affected the outcome of the run. First, Heather made a wrong turn up to the Mouth of the Jaguar, where she was taken out. Bill then ran into the temple, made his way to the Vine Drop and grabbed the half pendant on the Shrine actuator. He needed it--he was captured there. Instead of going down to the Safari, he went into the Forest Fire Room. He started placing puzzle pieces on the fire, but then he pulled on the palm, and nothing happened. He then took the Safari route to the drafts, but failed to get out in time.

Good Fanfic. This is one of those circumstances where, if it had happened in the REAL show, would've left everybody scratching their collective heads. I'll call it a 9.2 out of 10, for sheer disappointment in the Orange Iguanas!
