Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now.

(Kirk is seen coming down the steps of the temple)

Kirk: Thank you, thank you! It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of the Book of the Pompeii Library.

Kirk: Ooh, the Book of the Pompeii Library. Well, the legend is set and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the book. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They?re going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec?s temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and here's how they're gonna have to do it today.

One member of each team is sitting on a floating block of ice and your partner is behind you. When I say "go", you will balance on the ice and your partner will push the block to the shore. If you fall, or if a knee touches the ice block, you must go back and start again. When you're done, run over and hit the gong! (Kirk hits the Red Jaguars' gong) The first four teams to hit their gongs go on to the next round...are you ready?

Teams: Yeeaaahhh!!!!

Kirk: Olmec are you ready?

Olmec: Oh yeah!

Kirk: On your mark, get set... GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: That's it! We've got our four teams! Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Red Jaguars, with the Green Monkeys! And the Orange Iguanas and the Silver Snakes! Blue Barracudas and Purple Parrots gave it a great effort too. They will not be going away empty handed though, here's what we have for them:

Kirk: As we continue our quest, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the legend of the Book of the Pompeii Library. But, pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple.

Olmec: During the First Century, the Roman town of Pompeii was known as the most beautiful place on Earth. However, this town was one of the many towns that were an unsafe distance from what everyone thought-was-extinct Mt. Vesuvius volcano. It hadn't been active for over 800 years, and some people didn't know it was even a volcano. No one expected it to erupt. The town had all its needs...including a library with many books. Many thought that this library was a sacred place. Then  in AD 79, Vesuvius erupted and covered the town with ash that preserved it. Many, many years later, people dug it up, but never found any of the books from the library. Strangely, one of them has ended up in the temple. Your quest is to bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you Olmec,. But please tell us: where is the book?

(Camera shows the book, and zooms out to show its location)

Olmec: The letter can be found in the Lion Cage.

Kirk: Alright. Teams, you are standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about the legend you just herd. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're first, your step will light up.

(Silver stomps down first)

Then you're gonna answer the question. If you?re right, you?ll move down to the next level. If you?re wrong or run out of time, I?m going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

Kirk: These two teams will play for the right to enter Olmec's Temple, and they're gonna do it right after this!

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let's get to know our team players. On the Silver Snakes, we have Christopher. He likes running and he wants to become a Olympic runner! And his partner Selina likes to listen to many kinds of music and wants to become a pop singer. Let's hear it for the Silver Snakes!

(Applause)

Kirk: And on the Red Jaguars we have Timothy. He likes to play card games and play soccer. And his partner Veronica likes badminton and music. Let's hear it for the Red Jaguars!

(Applause)

Kirk: Okay you guys should get ready for your games now. Now this is what's going to happen: in the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant). They need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. And this is temple game number one:

Pompeii was of course beautiful becuase it was built exquisitely. And doing this takes a lot of work. But transporting the blocks to build the town was even harder. When I say go, you are going to run down the platform and grab some blocks and bring them back. But beware of the boulder! If it hits you, you must drop your rocks and get more. The team with more rocks at the end of 60 seconds wins!

Alright, trasnporting is gonna begin soon. Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Well, the time is up! Let's check it out over here. The Red Jaguars got three, six, nine, eleven blocks. The Silver Snakes got three, six, nine, twelve, fourteen blocks! So that means the Silver Snakes get the half pendant of life! The next game is also worth a half pendant, and here it is!

The people of Pompeii needed to escape something very perilous: the volcano. Now, you're going to escape something else that's dangerous: this maze. You are standing at the top of this labyrinth. When I say go, you have to move through this four-level maze and try to exit through the bottom. The first team that gets down wins.

Alright, let's get started. On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay! The Red Jaguars got down first, so that means they get a half pendant! The next game is worth a full pendant, and here it is:

Mt. Vesuvius erupted and buried not only Pompeii, but also many other nearby towns. We are going to simulate that in this next game. When I say go, you will shoot a ball up to your partner and she will place it on the markings: Town 1, Town 2, Town 3, and Pompeii. The first team to reach Pompeii, or the team that's further along at the end of 60 seconds wins.

Okay! These towns are gonna get hit! On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Let's see, the Red Jaguars got up to Town 2, but the Silver Snakes got to Town Three, that means the Silver Snakes have one-and-a-half pendants, the Red Jaguars have a half, the Silver Snakes are going to the temple!

(Cheers)

Don't worry, Red, you guys did a great job too, all this way, and ou're gonna get a cool prize before going, and this is what it is:

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. The SIlver Snakes have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec, please give us some information on how to retrieve the book of Pompeii.

Olmec: You could start by running through the Mining Chamber and climbing down into the Pit of Despair. Crawl through the pit, then race into the Chameleon Chamber. Change the color of the right chameleon and you could choose to go up the Lion's Lair, or into the Spider's Lair. If you escape, you may have a chance to enter the Sacred Safari. Find the right key to go upstairs, or plough through the wall and into the Lion Cage. Ride the cage up into the Viper's Nest and pull the snakes from the jars to open the doors to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue and you may be headed for the Vine Drop. Next, race up to the Mouth of the Jaguar. Put the fangs in the mouth and jump back into the Pit. Pass through the Room of the Three Gargoyles, race down the stairs and back through the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good luck!

Kirk: Okay, you guys won one-and-a-half pendants in the temple games, and here they are. Now, who's going first?

Christopher: I'm going first!

Kirk: Okay, Christopher, when I say go, you will race through the gates into the temple and make your way through the temple. But be careful ? the Temple has many locked doors and dead ends. Also hidden in the Temple there are also Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a Temple Guard will jump out and grab you. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Selina's turn to enter and try her luck. Hidden in the temple is another half pendant. If you find it and you're carrying the other half, you will earn an extra life. If you can reach the letter, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. You?ll have three minutes, and for your efforts you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!

(Prizes announced)

Kirk: Okay, let's get in position! Put your mouthpieces in. Let's put three minutes on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GOO!!!

(Christopher runs up into the Room of the Three Gragoyles, where the first tounge opens the door)

(He quickly dives into the pit with 2:50 left)

(He then climbs up to the Lion's Lair, and is stopped by a temple guard)

(He completes the objective, and races into the Vine Drop with 2:01 left)

(The door opens down to the Spider's Lair, but he is taken out)

(Kirk shouts at Selina, as she rushes in and reaches her partner's last room with about 1:07 left)

(She opens the door to the Sacred Safari with one minute left)

(She then reaches into the first elephant's trunk.....but a temple guard gets her with 41 seconds left!)

Kirk: Ahhhh.....it's a temple guard. Oh no! She didn"t find the other half of her pendant and she was one room away...uhhh! Oh well, here she comes now, ah...well, it's too bad, but hey! Summary:

Christopher was a pretty fast frontrunner, and was very lucky and speedy in the Three Gargoyles. Unfortunately, his turn came to an end after choosing to go down into the Tropical Forest where he was taken out. Then Selina came in. She was a bit on the slow side, but managed to get to the Tropical Forest with about a minute left. She then went into the Sacred Safari...one room away...but she did not break down the wall! Instead, she reached for the key and was taken out by a temple guard hiding in the elephant! If Selina had gone in first, there was a good chance that smarter (and luckier) Chris might have broken the wall and reached the artifact. Sigh...
