FULL TITLE: The Chipped Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids [of Giza]

LOTHT Wild Jungle Edition

Season 2, Layout 2, Episode 27

(The camera moves through a mass of thick palm trees, revealing portions of an ancient mayan temple as a waterfall and animals are heard. The jungle ends, and Olmec is revealed)

Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple!

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms as the pendant crashes together)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!

(The pendant now splinters to reveal Kirk climbing out of the Jungle Crevice and running up the Steps of Knowledge)

Kirk: Thank you very much! Thank you! Nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle! The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of the Chipped Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids!

Kirk: Oh, the Chipped Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids! Well, the legend is set, and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the skull. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They're going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and Olmec will tell us how they have to do it today.

Olmec: Before you stands a broken icefield that has made its way into the moat. When Kirk gives the signal, hop onto the first floating block. If it stays, you can move on to the next block, but if it sinks, or you fall into the Moat, you must go back and start again. When you hop off onto the deck, it'll be your partner's turn to cross the same way. When both players have reached the other side, run over and hit the gong!

(Kirk hits the Silver Snake?s gong to demonstrate)

Olmec: The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round!

Kirk: Alright, teams! Are you ready?

Teams: Yeeaaahhh!!!!

Kirk: Olmec, are you ready?

Olmec: Ohhhh yeah!

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Alright! We have our four teams! Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Silver Snakes??and the Purple Parrots??and the Green Monkeys??and the Red Jaguars! Orange Iguanas and Blue Barracudas gave it a great effort too. They will not be going away empty handed though, here's what we have for them:

(The Orange Iguanas and the Blue Barracudas will each be receiving a prize package from the Willy Wonka Candy Factory)

Kirk: As we continue on our quest, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the Chipped Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids. But teams, pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple.

Olmec: Some of the most impressive structures in the world are the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. Built during the rule of the great pharaoh Khufu, the pyramids were constructed out of huge limestone blocks. Legend has it, that Khufu had ordered one of his servants to haul the limestone block up the ramp to cap the pyramid all by himself.

Servant: But?but?

Khufu: Don?t tell me that! You owe me taxes, and I?m being kind to you!

Olmec: But the servant was obviously not a strong man. He pulled so hard that the rope cradling the block broke, the block rolled off its rollers, and crashed towards the ground below in a cloud of dust. The limestone block had to be replaced, and Khufu had the servant killed?and eventually the damaged block made its way to the temple! Your quest is to find the Chipped Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids of Giza and bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you Olmec! But tell us, where is the block?

Olmec: The Chipped Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids can be found in the Mouth of the Jaguar.

(The camera shows the Vine Drop on Olmec's last word, then zooms in on the limestone block sitting inside the jaguar?s mouth)

Kirk: Alright! Teams, you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're right, you'll move down to the next level. If you're wrong or run out of time, I'm going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

1. Is Egypt a part of...

2. Were Ancient Egyptian rulers called?
Kings and Queens
Country Owners

3. Are the Great Pyramids located in?

4. Which of these major rivers run through Egypt?
The Nile River
The Amazon River
The ?D? River

5. Which of these other stone structures is a landmark to Egypt?
The Great Sphinx
Ramses the Second?s Statue

6. Which of these pyramids is another landmark in Egypt?
The Step Pyramid
The Pyramid of Death
The Pyramid of Power

Kirk: We've got our two teams who are going the Temple Games! They are the Green Monkeys.....and the Silver Snakes! The Red Jaguars and the Purple Parrots gave it a great effort too - it was anyone's game - and they're not going home empty handed. We got a great gift for both of them, and here it is.

(The Purple Parrots and the Silver Snakes will receive a savings bond from Sketchers Footware)

Kirk: These two teams are going to be playing for the rights to enter Olmec's Temple, right after this!

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let's hear it for Roger and Kendra of the Green Monkeys! And Larry and Jess of the Silver Snakes!

Kirk: OK, you guys go get ready for your games, and I'll explain what will happen here. In the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant). The winning team will need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games, and Olmec will tell us about Temple Game #1.

Olmec: The Great Pyramids of Giza had to be built block by block, and in this game, you?re going to collect some blocks to build a pyramid. When Kirk gives the signal, crawl out to the first cube and grab a limestone block. Then crawl back and put it in your bin, and crawl out to the next cube to do it again. On your journeys, you must avoid the swinging obstacles! If you are hit, you must go back and start the trip again. The first team to collect all four blocks, or the team that's further along at the end of sixty seconds wins.

Kirk: Building a pyramid?s always hard work! Let's see if they?re up for the job. Let?s put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Whoa, let's stop the clock! Silver Snakes were blazing, they got back first with all four blocks, and they?re gonna get the half pendant of life! Green Monkeys, you were a little dazed there when that sandbag hit you, right?

Roger: Yeah, kinda!

Kirk: Don?t worry, you can catch up in the second temple game. Olmec, tell us about it.

Olmec: The only way to travel around Ancient Egypt was by camel, and they often got lost. To keep them on the right track, owners often pegged their noses to hook on a rope. When Kirk gives the signal, climb up the camel?s backbone and to its head. Like any camel, this one spits?so hold on tight! When you reach the camel?s head, peg its nose and slide back down. The first player to peg the camel?s nose and lands four feet on the start line, or the team that?s further along at the end of sixty seconds?wins!

Kirk: Uh-oh, we got a spitting camel here! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: OK! The game?s over?stop your spitting, camels! Whoa, the Green Monkeys just blazed their way up the camel, they?re gonna get the half pendant of life! So now they have a half pendant apiece, we?re going on to the third and final game?Olmec, tell us about it.

Olmec: The workers building the pyramid often had to climb the pyramid itself to place blocks as the pyramid grew in height. Luckily for you, you?ll only need to cap the pyramid. When Kirk gives the signal, boost your partner up the first step. Then she?ll help you up, and so on. When you reach the top, place the limestone block on the top of the pedestal?and the first team to do so wins!

Kirk: Get ready to finish this pyramid, teams! On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: The Green Monkeys pulled it outta the clutch, they capped the pyramid first?just ahead of the Silver Snakes! They have one and a half pendants; the Green Monkeys are going to the temple!

Kirk: The Silver Snakes gave it a gallant effort too?these were two evenly matched teams?they?re not going away empty handed, we?ve got a great gift for them, and here?s what it is:

(The Silver Snakes will be going home with a $100 gift card from Eastpak Backpacks)

Kirk: We?ll see if the Green Monkeys can make it through the temple, and retrieve the Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids, right after this!

(Camera pans to some foliage near the base of the altar in the Treasury of the Monkeys)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! The Green Monkeys have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec will give us some information on how to retrieve the Chipped Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids.

Olmec: You could start by running up into the Room of the Tropicana Birds. Press down the correct beak, and pass into the Jungle Crevice. There, swing across, and climb into the Mouth of the Jaguar, where you can grab the Limestone Block. Place the four fangs into the mouth, and you might descend into the Anaconda's Sanctuary. Place the snake in the correct hole, and you could pass into the Vine Drop. There, you might climb down through the wall of plants, or pull the vines to enter the Shriiiiine...of the Siiiiilver Monkeeey! Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Catfish Cove, where you could race down the Falls into the Secret Spring. You might plow through the stone wall into the Abandoned Camp, and break open the cage to find the key! Next, climb into the Tropical Forest. If you escape, you will gain entry to the Treasury of the Monkeys - and find the right bunch of bananas to release the doors. Then, crawl through the Jungle Crevice, climb through the Mining Chamber, race down the stairs on back through the temple gates! The choices are yours and yours alone. You won one and a half pendants in the temple games. Who's going first?

Kendra: I am!

Olmec: Very well, Kendra! When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the temple, and make your way towards the Chipped Limestone Block. Hidden inside the temple are temple guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on but if you're caught without a pendant, you'll be taken out of the temple...and it will be Roger's turn to enter and try his luck. Hidden somewhere in the temple is the other half of your pendant. If you can find it, and you?re carrying the other half, you will earn an extra life. If you can reach the block, all the doors of the temple will instantly unlock and the temple guards will vanish. Return through the gates with the Chipped Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids of Giza in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded?and here's how!

Dee: For just going into the temple, you'll each be getting a $1000 gift card from Target! Valid for use at any target around the world! From Target. If you grab the Limestone Block before three minutes is up, you'll also receive an Xbox 360 package. Complete with a new Xbox 360, plus two new games! From Microsoft. And if you bring the Limestone Block out of the temple before three minutes is up, you'll be going to Cancun! You'll be staying at Kyrstal Cancun, the resort for beach lovers. With excursions to the Mayan ruins. It's rich in history and rich in pleasure! From Kyrstal Cancun.

Kirk: Alright, that sounds great! We?ll see if they can get it all! Let's get into position, mouthpieces in! And let?s set the clock for sixty?I mean, three minutes!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk:Olmec, lower your gate.

(Olmec moans as the gate lowers, and the lights around him switch off as he stops humming)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Kendra runs up to the Room of the Tropicana Birds and hits the beak of the first bird she sees?the stage-left one. It dosen?t open, so she tries the far-right bird, and only the door down to the Mining Chamber slides open, so she climbs downwards with 2:51 left)

(She quickly hits the actuator for the upper door to the Jungle Crevice, and crawls along the crawl space to grab the vine and swing across to the door of the Anaconda?s Sanctuary. ?She?s making great time,? comments Kirk, as Kendra opens the door and crawls in with 2:43 on the clock left)

(She quickly grabs the snake and feeds it into the first hole?the stage right one?with 2:38, opening the door downwards. Kendra is fast, and she quickly half-slides, half-climbs down the ladder, knocking the bananas to the ground in the process of entering the Treasury of the Monkeys; 2:30 left on the clock)

(Right then, out pops the first TEMPLE GUARD! Kendra screams once, then hands the guard a pendant and places the first bunch of bananas on the altar. The room quickly darkens, and the door to the Tropical Forest opens with 2:23 on the clock)

(She climbs into the Tropical Forest, wades swiftly across to the two doors, and hits the actuator of the lower door to the Abandoned Camp with 2:14. It opens, and she quickly enters the room. Kendra punches a hole right through the cage, and immediately it collapses, allowing her to grab the key and hit the keypad up to the Shrine. The golden doors flip open, and Kendra begins climbing upwards with 2:07 left)

(She then opens up the cabinet doors and grabs the base of the monkey. She places it on the wrong way, but places the middle on the correct way. Realizing her mistake, she takes the middle off, spins the base around, and correctly puts together the first two pieces in eleven seconds)

(Kendra grabs the head, and slides the long pole into the middle?opening the door to the Vine Drop with 1:51 remaining. She enters the room, and pulls down the first vine. It won?t open, so she moves onto the next one, and the last one, and the door to the Mouth of the Jaguar opens with 1:42 left!)

(She makes her way up to the Mouth of the Jaguar, puts her hand in the mouth, and grabs the gigantic LIMESTONE BLOCK with 1:36 on the clock to go. She climbs down to the Anaconda?s Sanctuary, and then crawls out to the Jungle Crevice. Kendra grabs the vine, but misses, and?presumably by the weight of the artifact?is pulled down into the bottom of the pit with 1:22)

(She climbs through the Mining Chamber with difficulty, sliding the block along the ledges. With 1:15 on the clock, she quickly picks it off again, and runs up the slide and runs down the stairs beside Olmec to cross the gate and record the victory with 1:08 on the clock?the fastest victory in the history of Wild Jungle!)

Kirk: SHE MADE IT! SHE MADE IT! SHE DID IT ALL! Unbelievable! They got the Limestone Block! They got it all folks, the Target gift card, the Xbox 360s?they?re going to Cancun! YES! We have to get out of here, bye!

(Credits scroll as the camera pans to the now glowing altar in the Treasury of the Monkeys)

Artifact Name: The Chipped Limestone Block of the Great Pyramids of Giza
Location: The Mouth of the Jaguar
Result: Won!
Time Remaining: 1:08
Pendants Won: 1.5

I loved this episode from start to finish. The Green Monkeys were first in the Moat, and first in the Steps, showing me that they were both physically and mentally strong. It all came down to Kendra in the temple at the end of the episode.

The extremely pretty Kendra was one of the fastest contestants I have ever seen participate on the series. She was swift in her movements, and had an excellent map of the temple in her head. The only mistake she made was the slight stumble in the Shrine, but she grabbed the abnormally heavy artifact and brought it out in under two minutes - quite an achievement on the show! She deserved her trip to Cancun, and her shattering of the records.

~ This is the fastest [solo] victory ever on the show
~ The episode's title is the longest ever featured - a total of fourteen syllables!
