Just checked out the latest version of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) proposals online, and I'm not liking the sound of it.  If anyone wants to see what COULD happen...

This is as of last January, leaked earlier this month.  The proceedings have all been done in private.

I don't pirate material except on rare occasions.  I did that a lot more not too long ago, actually, but even if I eventually stop altogether, I still don't like the way this sounds because, if I read correctly, the government gets the rights to take a look at what's on your computer and possibly shut it down after repeated offenses.  That's a terrible breach of the individual right to privacy if I read things properly (keep in mind I have no legal knowledge, and this was a confusing read made even worse by how tired I am, so if someone would correct me I'd appreciate it).

Petition link, which I provided for anyone here who's against it.  I'm going to do a bit more research before signing it myself.

If I got the real message, then I'm going to be pissed if this becomes official? I fear it'd be more of a detriment than any actual "help." And if this ends up leading to the stripping of basic rights...

From what I just saw in the petition, 1428 have signed.

I don't know, it's all confusing, I have no idea what the draft is saying.
