Will there be an Icarus-like loss (ex. The Bandit King's "Lost Knife Sheath of Jim Bowie") in the Rediscovery's tenure? If so, will it occur in Season 3?

I pretty much write them as I go, to be honest.  I don't have something like that in mind now, but it might or might not happen, depending on how fast I want to make the team and what the Temple configuration looks like when I have a team that grabs the artifact, but doesn't make it out in time.

Honestly, I'd like to see what I can come up with that A) didn't happen in the show itself and B) hasn't already been done by TBF, TBK and anyone else here who writes fanfics.  This might be the last season I create, so I want to try finding new and creative ideas, and hopefully I can go out with a bang if Season 3 ends up being the end.

I have an idea! If you also do seasons 4 and 5, have the winners of each of the 4 Tournaments of Champions compete in 1 final episode. The temple layout will be a combination of rooms from previous layouts voted on by the members here at Phantom's Temple!

I'll consider it, but for right now, it seems too difficult to realistically pull off.  I mean, keep in mind there's a three-year gap between Season 2 and Season 3, so by the time we get to Season 5, some of these kids might be young adults. :wink:

Double-post for convenience because I just realized I didn't really emphasize all the differences between Season 2 and Season 3 as TBK had for the Season 1~2 differences in his series.

?   The lighting for Season 3 is much more reminiscent of the original show's first season in that it resembles a sunny, tropical jungle during the day rather than at night, as the earlier seasons had.  The exception is the bottom room of the central shaft, which is still very dimly-lit.
?   However, Kirk is still dressed in blue jeans rather than khaki shorts, and the players are still dressed as they would be in the later seasons of the original show.  This remains consistent for The Rediscovery in its entirety.
?   Olmec's voice, which previously resembled that of the second season of the original show, is now a bit deeper.  He also speaks a bit louder and a little quicker.
?   Fog machines remain a staple of the show's set; they create more of a "haze" effect at the Moat, but may be used to mimic waterfalls in the Temple itself.
?   Also, the Temple still has only one entrance.  The Cave cannot be entered from the front, but must be entered after going up the stairs at Olmec's side and then by sliding down behind him.
?   Season 2 saw a number of the rooms having unconvential objectives? one of the most prominent examples was the Switch Inferno, which was located below the Shrine of the Silver Monkey but did not involve a key in any way.  These sorts of objectives have been reverted for Season 3.
?   A vertical passage has been reinstalled in the Temple, connecting the two rooms just left of the central shaft.  This passage has been closed off for the first two seasons due to space constraints in the Room of the Ancient Warriors and the Knights' Barracks.
?   The Bamboo Forest, which replaces the Junction of the Secret Shafts and the Labyrinth for all of Season 3, resembles its original-show counterpart much more closely.  The Temple Guard door at the back of the room has been covered up, and guards once again hide in a murky concoction covering the floor of the room.  The ventilation shafts from the first two seasons are still present as well, but while they used to protrude from the walls to form a periphery around the room, the exits are now located on the back wall and now consist of solid, slightly off-color doors rather than actual ventilation shafts.
?   The center room, whose wallpaper changes from one season to the next, regains its "Heart Room" wallpaper for Season 3, but with the panel in the back covering the ladder leading upward, and with the same flash effects when this door opens.
?   A new feature to the show: Pendant fragments will appear in the upper corners of the screen during the second and third Temple Games in the appropriate colors, to help viewers who might have just tuned in catch up.

Decisions, decisions.  I've decided to do away with the interview with Matt from "The Missing Card of Dmitri Mendeleev," and I'm going to come up with two different ones in its place: Amber from "Henry the Navigator's Missing Maps" and Dominik from "The Ace of Spades of Black Jack Ketchum." Expect the first somewhere between now and the end of the Layout XII episodes.

Just a minor announcement regarding the next few weeks:

As usual, I'll post "The Weaving Shuttle of Arachne" on Friday.  Next week will see THREE new episodes: the last three episodes of Layout XII, posted on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

After that, however, there will be no new episodes for a couple weeks? I'm starting to fall behind, and without this break, it wouldn't be possible to keep posting new episodes at a regular rate. ^^; When I start up again with the Hawaiian Layout, it will most likely be two episodes per week once again, unless I need to air only one at a time for a while.

EDIT: Come to think of it, there's a slight chance that "The Yamato Arrow of Empress Jing?" might be posted on Saturday instead of Friday.  This depends on how the move-in goes, since I'm heading back out to Syracuse on Thursday but not settling into my dorm until the following day.  If that ends up being a very busy day, I'll just have to post the new episode on Saturday instead, but we'll see.

Well, as you've probably noticed, I've been at work trying to catch up with the new episodes. I'm going to see where I'm at this weekend, and if I feel like I'm far enough ahead, I'll post Episode 106 this Monday and then do one episode each week for a few weeks.  Otherwise, it'll wait until the week after.

As a minor side note, I've changed the title of "The Missing Mast Piece from Pearl Harbor" to "The Missing Mast Piece of the Prisoner of War." When the realization that I have two very similar legends coming up finally hit me, I decided I'd try to give each of the two episodes a different twist/perspective.  Nothing big, but still.
