Rate the Color Combinations (Temple Games Edition) - Purple vs. Silver

I gave this match up a 6. I happen to really like these colors together. The Purple looked really pretty with the really white Silver, despite the Silver Snakes having such a boring team color, being mere white and all. I did however, like this set of colors better in Season 2 than I did in Season 1. Must have something to do with the darker lighting that Season 2 had. I really want to rank this higher, I really do. I do want to rank this a 7, maybe even an 8. But what really drags it down? The episode selection. While it does have some amazing gems (Freydis, Priceless Portrait), it comes with some downright atrocious episodes (Cricket Cage, Lost Lion Tail). If it's another positive thing I can say about this pair though, the episode distribution was completely equal. Both teams got an equal representation, and neither team got shut out or over dominated. And that is REALLY rare for a Purple Parrot match up, where almost all the other combinations with Purple in it are nearly to completely one sided. Furthermore, this is the only time the Purple Parrots don't have a crushing defeat against a team. Too bad this was one of the more rare combinations. Especially since this (like Blue vs. Orange), was never used in Season 3. I would've liked to see this pair occur more often, as long as the episodes were halfway decent. Overall, I really liked these colors, but the episode selection drags it waaaaaay down for me. I mean, Cricket Cage, enough said.

I gave Purple-Silver a 7. I like the colors associated with this pairing also. It reminds me of desert like cake and ice cream for some reason. The episode selection is up in the air. I love Polynesian Girl and Freydis, but then it has a couple of atrocious episodes like Golden Cricket Cage and Lost Lion Tail. And both these episodes are considered the worst representations for their respective teams.  I really like the distribution of these episodes though. It was a rare combination, and it had both teams beating each other same amount of times. This is the only time the Purple Parrots do not have a losing record against a team too. Overall, the cool colors, a couple of good episodes, and the decent distribution makes this pairing pretty likable. If it wasn't for Golden Cricket Cage, then I might rank it higher.

Okay, so it's not equal anymore. But at least Purple would get a shot at winning in Cricket Cage and Silk Ladder. And likewise with the Silver Snakes winning in Lost Lion Tail. Thoughts?

The Golden Cricket Cage one is a no-brainer. I mean there is no way that a team could do worse than John and Tia. 

Lost Lion Tail is another obvious one. That is how it should've been in the first place. 

I don't know about Silk Ladder though. I know Jeremy and Elise won with a piss easy layout, but they were also very strong before the temple run. Just like Shane and Jackie in Oracle Bowl. Although the Purple Parrots would've done much better than the Silver Snakes in the temple run in Silk Ladder.

I love purple and silver together. The teams split the matchup even. And two very good episodes came out of this duo along with two duds. I went with a 7.

Then would Silk Ladder be considered an iconic first Purple Parrots win if Purple won instead? Or would people diss it just as much as say.... Jeremy and Erika's performance?

If they won it would be iconic. Especially given how rare Purple Parrots victories were.

I think everyone would make fun of Silk Ladder no matter what team went to the temple. I mean the team only had to enter 5 easy rooms to reach the artifact. Even if a team beat Shaka Zulu's time, it would still get crapped on like the other fast and easy wins like Roland, Butch Cassidy, Geronimo, and Shaka Zulu. So it isn't such a bad thing that the Purple Parrots didn't win in Silk Ladder. And it makes Billy the Kid extra special too.

Yeah, I agree that Billy the Kid was a much better first Purple Parrot win. Especially since it was SO close to the end of Season 2 by the time that episode happened. Silk Ladder was gonna be a win no matter who went to the temple. But then again, the Purple Parrots in Silk Ladder probably would've been faster and more competent than Jeremy and Erika.

What I was thinking of doing was post both charts in the OP, and put them in order from highest rated to lowest. Just so we can see which color combinations ranked the best, and which ones ranked the worst.

The highest rated Steps of Knowledge pair was Red-Blue-Green-Purple, with a whopping 8.90 average. And it's BY FAR the highest rated combination, period. And it just happens to be my favorite steps combination, so I couldn't be any happier. The lowest rated Steps of Knowledge pair was Red-Orange-Purple-Silver, with only a mere 2.57 average. And it is by far the lowest rated combination in the entire thread. My personal least favorite steps combination is Red-Blue-Orange-Silver, which was ranked the second lowest. Very fitting too, since I wasn't the only one that hated that pair. The highest rated temple games pair was Blue vs. Purple, with a whopping 8.40 average. The lowest rated temple game pair was Orange vs. Silver, with only a mere 3.25 average. I find it both awesome and coincidental that my favorite AND least favorite temple games pair were both the highest and lowest rated respectively. Good to know everyone else's sentiments echoed mine.

Based on the above charts, 2/3 favorite steps pairs ranked high, and all three of my least favorite pairs ranked low. For the temple games combinations, 2/3 of my favorite pairs ranked high, and all three of my least favorite pairs ranked low. So my thoughts and overall averages almost match. And my favorite steps and temple game pairs both ranked the highest! And my least favorite temple game pair ranked the worst too.
