There are many aspects of this topic that I would like to get into, but for now, I'm intrigued by the people who are willing to commit atrocities that involve killing people in vulnerable places where we assume everything is safe is not. I don't want to offend anyone, but I do feel for the people who were killed, but a little more for the families who are related to the suspect. They seem to have it worse, knowing their loved one did something like this.

"Serial killers ruin families" is a quote I read somewhere I forgotten right now, but that is basically what happens when you do murder someone.

One aspect I'm particularly interested in is how the media is shaping it. It's errie that the news media will be willing to break down how these types of things are done so that other people with motives could do this, which I'm sad about.:

Well to add on to the discussion of how we are affected by government, I think local and state, especially local really affects where we live and what goes on. I think California is a really good example of how a state is affected by its own policies. Gay marriage, cigarette tax, high-speed rail, GE food labels, redistricting, raising taxes making 250K, etc.

But yeah, my mom and I have sort of been affected by what the federal level has been doing: keeping college loans at 3.4%, pell grants, healthcare reform to name a few.

I really don't think less money will be spent thanks to the United Citizens decision, I mean SuperPAC seem like a total joke in terms of funneling in money for political campaigns. A well-known political satirist has his own SuperPAC and that's funny and sad at the same time.

As for voting for President, I'm definitely not voting Romney, but I'm not sure for Obama. Do I vote for him to keep the status quo for another 4 years or do I vote cause I like what he's doing so far?

Originally, I didn't want to take Systems Art only because I wanted to open my schedule up for a possible internship that I had planned somewhere in the city, but now I'm not sure if I'm ever going to get it. It doesn't have to be a working one, since my major is pretty flexible and open.

So for today, I went to the Jewish Contemporary Museum, touring the place with a bunch of middle-aged ladies and took a TKO class with my friend at her college.

There were 51 injured at the shooting, including the mother of the six year old. She's paralyzed for life.

Very sad. Sometimes I just don't know what the hell these gunmen think when they do this.

Indeed. And I can't believe a 6 year old was among one of those that died.

Yeah, that is the saddest part about that story is the six year old getting shot. I mean who expects to go to a movie theater and has their child shot by a mad man? I like how when the shooter appeared in court, he acts like the whole situation is a joke.

Yeah, this guy for sure deserves the death penalty. With what he did and the way he acted in court, he deserves it.

Plus, look at the way his hair looked. It was all multicolored and damaged, and it looked like a clown's hair. Who's gonna take someone like that seriously? He definitely deserves the death penalty. There's gotta be something seriously wrong with him if he's not even remotely remorseful for what he did.

I wholeheartedly agree.  My take on the death penalty is that it should be kept, but only for mass shooters, murderers and serial killers.

As much as I'm shocked and saddened to hear about an unexpected shooting in a public place, it's the media that seems to score more heroin into its system (sarcasm) by trying to become overzealous about every bit of information about the killer and the crime. I just couldn't stand the news when they started getting obsessed about showing the guy's face over and over. Criticizing his orange hair and showing how he looks like a complete psychotic. Then they try to talk about this guy's life story that doesn't give a widening perspective about the case.

And even though I think the victims have every right to speak about what happened over there, I personally would not say anything, only because I would prefer to take as much time to contemplate the event. I don't want to be talking to media and telling my story, as much as they would probably milk information that's pretty much drained of itself.
