Best Legends Win - Day Fourteen: "Egyptian Queen" vs. "Buddha"
« on: September 02, 2012, 11:06:30 PM »
Welcome to the Legends of the Hidden Temple "Best Legends win" tournament. In this tournament, we are trying to figure out the best win in the history of Legends. Every day I will hold a series of different matchups that will feature two wins on the show. Your job is to pick what episode you believe is the better of the two. After 24 hours. the episode with the most vote will proceed onto the next round.

RULES:
- Each matchup will be open for a total of 24 hours. Once that window of time is up, the winner of the poll will be revealed.
- You are allowed to change your vote anytime during the 24 hour window. But the last vote before time is up is the one that will be final.
- All you have to simply do is select which of the two wins that you feel deserves to progress longer.
- You don't have to reveal your vote to the public, that is only optional. Your vote will be confidential until the 24 hour time frame is up.
- Please vote in the poll! The more people that vote, the more fun this tournament will be. All it takes is less than 30 seconds to vote.
- Have fun

***FEATURED MATCHUP***

"THE METAL BEARD OF THE EGYPTIAN QUEEN"

VS.

"THE BELLY BUTTON OF BUDDHA"

Since I am back to classes during the week, I am making this matchup slightly earlier. The Map to the Lost Gold Mine/Enormous Iron Nose Ring matchup is still open until time expires. I will edit the winner in once it does. ;)

You know what, after a recent watching of "The Belly Button of Buddha", I have gained a new respect for this run.  Jennifer may have been a slow contestant and her path was sort of lucky, but she still had a solid solo run similar to "The Star of Sultan Saladin" and the like. Her only problem was that she moved so slow before reaching the Belly Button. This run would've been slightly better if only she picked up the pace.

With that said, I am still voting for "The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen". This win basically lives in the shadows of "The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen". It was still a very good win though and it was nice to see the Purple Parrots winning the temple run after winning their first (and only) tiebreaker. T.J. was very fast in his short stint in the temple, and Randy was fast all the way up to the Shrine. Her only problem was her exit plan that involved her running all over the temple. This is the only bad part about this run is the shouting at Randy by T.J. But other than that, its an overlooked Purple Parrot win and it was nice to see them win in season three.

Metal Beard for me. It's simply better than the Buddha win. Jennifer's performance was kind of cringe-worthy. The Purple Parrots in Metal Beard gave us a solid team performance in their win, even if Randy's exit plan was bad.

Random notes I have about "The Metal Beard":
1.) Between completing objectives and exiting the temple, the team entered every room (pretty impressive).
2.) I'm positive the third guard was located in the Ledges, as the door from the Crypt to the Ledges opened, but wasn't a mandatory route (the Crypt opened directly to the Pit of the Pendulum). Plus the only door that opened from the Pit was to the Tomb of the Headless Kings.

Yeah, number one happened in both "The Diary of Dr. Livingstone" and this temple run. But Randy's exit was more suspenseful than Tabitha's was though. ;)

And yeah, I am pretty sure the last temple guard was in the Ledges. Luckily the team didn't start there or this run would've end in triple capture. Although I think T.J. could've had a solo win if he busted through the wall.

Metal Beard for me too, for the same reasons as everyone else. Easily one of the most overlooked wins ever.

But the same could also be said for "Buddha". Jennifer was one of the most solid contestants of S1, and even if she did get confused at times, she still scored a very solid solo win.

I vote "Buddha". Doubt it'll actually win, though.

I'm sorry, but Metal Beard is much more overlooked than Buddha. Nobody gives it any of the credit it deserves just because of a poor exit plan. We should be grateful the Purple Parrot even WON a tiebreaker, and we had players who knew what they were doing. Jennifer did fine yes, but the run is sort of boring and not as exciting as Metal Beard or Freydis for that matter. To me, Buddha is just another win from Season 1. Jennifer did good yes, but she wasn't solid or amazing to me. I know this sounds sort of contradictory, but to me there's a reason she's overlooked. It's just a good run, and nothing else.

Metal Beard is gonna win for sure, and I'll be happy if it does.

I agree that Jennifer was a rather solid contestant, but that is if we take the whole episode into consideration. She was very good for a season one contestant. Her win was just not that exciting though. If she would've picked up the pace like she did after she grabbed the Belly Button, then it would've been much better. But instead she basically walked through the whole temple and hesitated in quite a few places. Not to mention, she got confused in simple rooms like the Treasure Room. I say solo wins like "The Star of Sultan Saladin" were slightly better than this win. It is one of the better wins of season one though IMO.
