The Heart Room / What really makes a bad episode?
« on: May 02, 2012, 06:50:51 PM »
A long time ago, there was a thread started on what everyone thought the worst ever episode was. Since we talk about bad episodes a lot, I'm curious to see what you guys think qualifies as a bad episode. To me, a bad episode consists of all of the following:

-- A moat that goes on for either way too long or way too short of a time. Short moats are usually boring to me, though long moats are okay. However, if the moat is too long due to poor players, and/or it's obvious what the 4 teams will be, then it's a lot more painful to watch.

-- A Steps of Knowledge round that has A LOT of bad answers. Once in a while, bad answers are funny. But when every other question has to be thrown out because of it, it's sort of annoying. And what makes it worse is if these contestants somehow advance despite giving the poor answer choices.

-- Temple games that are one sided, where it's obvious which player is gonna win. Or better yet, it's too obvious that the winning team is gonna sweep the temple games. And, temple games where a team only wins on a questionable call.

-- And a temple run where it's obvious from the beginning the team is gonna lose. Or if the team does win, the victory feels undeserved for whatever reason. Whether it be slow players or an easy layout.

Now don't get me wrong, I understand that it's just a show and these are just kids. And I realize we already have a thread on this, even though it's an older one. But I'm just curious what you guys think would make a bad episode.

The Heart Room / Sending the slow player in second
« on: April 23, 2012, 10:06:20 PM »
This has been a hotly debated topic on the forums here for many years now. And we've seen our fair share of slow and/or dumb contestants before. Some slow players go in first and ruin the whole run, like in "Blackbeard's Treasure Map," "The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart," and "The Broken Trident of Poseidon." On the other hand, there are runs like "The Oracle Bowl of Delphi," "The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de Medici," and "The Enormous Feather of the Mi Linh," where the slow players going in second ruins the run. So the real question is.... is sending the slow player in second a bad idea? Below are runs that ended up being losses due to slow second runner:

The Oracle Bowl of Delphi: Shane was a beast in the minute he was in the temple. Unfortunately, he got paired up with slow poke Jackie, who had no idea what she was doing. She not only didn't press on the wall hard enough at first, but she couldn't even figure out the Pirates Cove "torch" aspect. This run probably would have turned out better had Shane gone in second.

The Keys to the Alhambra: Steve was amazing in the temple, it was Lisa who screwed everything up. While I can see her confusion in the Tomb, what with every door opening, she still backtracks all the way back to the Wall Climb. And she just in general makes no progress whatsoever in the 2 minutes she's in the temple for.

Pecos Bill's Lost Lariat: Colleen blazes through every room she enters in the temple. But not going straight to the Treasure Room cost her a bit. But not nearly as much as slowpoke Chris, who pretty much walks through every room of the temple. And when he finally does grab the artifact, he takes his sweet time exiting.

The Walking Stick of Harriet Tubman: Chris makes decent time in the temple, but it was Ryann who messes up by going up the Crypt. Which results in the team being captured in one of the quickest losses ever. One of the many examples of why you should always follow your partners path if you don't have a full pendant.

The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de Medici: We all know about this one. Chris only enters three rooms, only to have Aqila move much too slowly in the temple. And then run past the artifact at the last second. If Chris had gone in second, then this team probably could have won.

The Thornwood Gavel of Judge Roy Bean: Mike leaves more than enough time for Kelli to enter the temple, and possibly reach the gavel. But she blows it by entering unclear rooms and not shouting the passwords correctly. And she just in general moved like a slow moving rock.

The Enormous Feather of the Mi Linh: Ugh, don't want to waste time talking about this one. David was making great time, and even made it to the Dark Forest in only a minute. Only to have Karisa go in there and screw it all up. She walked through nearly every room, but lost in simple rooms like the Quicksand Bog, and made NO EFFORT whatsoever to speed up when she DID get the feather. David definitely should have gone in second, no doubt about it.

Discuss. :P

The Temple Games / Most Forgettable Temple Run Elimination Game
« on: December 13, 2011, 03:35:12 PM »
Okay you guys, time for another elimination game. Only this time, we're trying to determine the most forgettable run in Legends history.

Rules:
* You can eliminate one run per hour. In other words, go as many times as you want. But you must wait an hour before voting again.
* When there are 25 runs remaining, we will rank them.
* Eliminate the LEAST forgettable first. Also, it's not so much what's a bad temple run, it's more so what's forgettable.
* When it comes down to the Top 2, we will vote on which one to win. The first one to get 3 votes wins.

To start this off, I am gonna get rid of "The Dragon Lady and the Blue Pearl." It was very memorable for Jennifer's speed, the wild audience, and Jennifer's last ditch effort to grab the Pearl. Only to come up short by mere inches. Thus, it's off the list for it's memorable finish. :mrorange:

1x01 - Blackbeard's Treasure Map
1x02 - The Golden Cup of Belshazzar

The Temple Games / What episode is this picture from?
« on: July 26, 2011, 01:28:58 AM »
I thought I might start another game now the eliminations ones are over. Now, this is NOT the same as the "Name the episode" game in the Heart Room. I am going to put up a picture, and you have to guess what episode it is from. You just keep guessing until someone guesses right. Then the next person can put up a picture. We can use Ed's site or any screencaps you have of your own. Enjoy and have fun!

To start us off:

TSMEdit: (Please read, VERY important)

Please wait your turn to post a picture. Someone puts up a picture, and someone guesses it. If you guess correctly, THEN you can post a picture of your own. But you must wait until the person who posted the picture in question confirms it for you. Please do not put up a picture whenever you want, when said person hasn't verified the correct answer yet.

The Treasure Room / Episode Re-makes
« on: August 18, 2006, 10:41:11 AM »
(I'm sorry if this is the wrong section mods can move this if they want too). You know how the Purple Parrots didn?t make it to the temple that many times throughout the show?? Well what I was thinking of doing is creating fanfics that would re-make some episodes where the Purple Parrots would win a trip to the temple and stuff. I already know how I want to re-model the diagrams and I already know how many pendants the team would win. Here?s the episodes I?m going to remake:
Season 1:
Elizabeth The First?s Golden Ship
The Golden Cricket Cage Of Khan
The Golden Chains Of Zenobia
The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa
Season 2:
1  fanfic I may write to make it look like a Season 2 episode
Season 3:
2 fanfics I may write to make it look like a Season 3 episode
Marble Armrest of Xerxes
The Much Heralded Helmet Of Sir Gawain
The Lilly-Crested Crown of Clovis I
Any episodes you think I should add to the list that should have been a Purple Parrot win go ahead and add it here. I?m NOT doing this as a contest or anything, I just wanted to re-create a few episodes and I thought it might be a good idea. And if its not a good idea, then I dunno.

The Temple Games / Episode Elimination: Season 1
« on: July 22, 2006, 08:09:11 AM »
I thought this might be a fun game to play, considering I've started this game on other forums before. Now this is how you play:
Say you don't like an episode from one season, then you'd say the name of the episode and I'd delete it from the list. Example:
Blackbeard's Treasure Map
The Golden Cup of Belshazzar
The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
^ say you wanted to eliminate "Blackbeards Treasure Map" well then I'd take that off the list and the "golden cup" and "oracle bowl" episode would remain. Last episode standing wins. Got it?? (If you don't like this game you can lock this topic) Now, lets PLAY!

Season 1:
Galileo's Cannonball
The Dead man?s Hand
Elizabeth the First's Golden Ship
John Henry's Lost Hammer
The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan
The Map to the Lost Gold Mine
The Helmet of Genghis Khan
The Keys to the Alhambra
The Pendant of King Kamehameha
The Star of Sultan Saladin
The Trojan Horseshoe
Henry the Eighth's Great Seal
The Lost Logbooks of Magellan
The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart
The Moccasins of Geronimo
Blackbeard's Treasure Map
The Golden Cup of Belshazzar
The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
The Paintbrush of Leonardo Da Vinci
The Treasure Map of Jean Lafitte
The Water Bottle of Ponce de Leon
The Belly Button of Buddha
The Golden Chains of Zenobia
The Helmet of Joan of Arc
The Stolen Arm of Shiva
The Stone Marker of Leif Erickson
The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa
The Gordian Knot
The Mask of Shaka Zulu
The Medal of Sir Edmund Hillary
The Silver Saddle Horn of Hannibal
King Tut's Cobra Staff
Pecos Bill's Lost Lariat
Robin Hood and Marian's Silk Ladder
The Blue Pearl of the Dragon Lady
The Codebook of Mata Hari
Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress
The Collar of Davy Crockett
The Snake Bracelet of Cleopatra
The Treasure of Anne Bonny
