By different rankings, you mean the stats/rankings you're doing in this thread, and not the temple room rankings, right? Just wondering. ;)

Oh, and I meant to post this last night, but I fixed the colored text in your Montezuma review. I don't know what happened, but almost the entire review was written entirely in red text. But I fixed it. All of your scores on it remains exactly the same. I definitely didn't touch that. ;)

Triple post of doom. :P

But let me just say this. I really, genuinely enjoyed working on this project with you. I did, and this was originally only supposed to be your thing. I love writing these reviews, even if they took a while to do, though the collaboration bit kind of fixed that. And sped up this project ten fold. I kind of wished I got a thank you for my part in the project, instead of a "oh glad this is over." When otherwise you thank other people for starting polls and stuff like that. But no worries, I know I can't ask for everything. But I'm glad to have been part of this. ;) While I'm at it, I must ask. What was your favorite review to write? Regardless of who wrote what. I know you (well, we) were thinking of fixing some scores, but which reviews did you actually like best? Just wondering. ;)

Feel free to give your thoughts on this. :P

After we posted Map to the Lost Gold Mine, I was going to do a "tribute page" where I would mention everything and everyone that helped me with this project. Especially with your help because it meant a lot of me. Not only did you give feedback on every episode review I wrote, but you also helped cover a lot of episodes AND half of the reviews too. But you're right, it is not fair that I would blow you off and act like this was nothing special. I definitely owe you some kind of tribute. I promise that I will make a page like this in the near future, hopefully over the weekend. I am not sure what happened to me because I had no problem knocking out reviews quickly when we still had to write them. I wanted to do a lot of stuff with these completed episodes and still do. Like I still want to create a website. But I guess it was bad timing too because March and April are usually really busy for me and graduate school. :P

And I enjoyed writing for a lot of these episodes too. My favorite ones were most of the wins and the episodes that were exciting and eventful. My favorite one of all though? That is pretty tough. I had to say "Lawrence of Arabia" because I did not expect it to rank as one of the highest episode. I thought it would get an 8 score at best, but I forgot how exciting and enjoyable this episode was. But I enjoyed writing most of these reviews because it was nice to go back and watch these episodes again. I am kind of glad that we are done though because they were time consuming at times. But most of the reviews I enjoyed working on. It was just the really boring episodes like Bent Shaving Pan and Efoua that were hard to write about. :P And I enjoyed the collaborations the most too. It was better when we both could provide input for an episode.

But yeah, I think a Tribute Page is necessary and fitting for such an exhausting project. I should've done it right after we completed Map to the Lost Gold Mine.  :mrblue:

Can't wait to see your tribute page. :mrblue: I'm sure it will come out great, and I already did a miniature tribute section too. Citing how many we reviews we did, both individually and as a collaboration. So that's a pretty good start. And I also can't wait for you to start a website posting all of these episodes. Even though I know creating a site is a lot of hard work. As for me, I liked writing Billy the Kid and Discarded Seal the best. I think it was around that time my writing started to get better and lengthier. Which is something my very first reviews lacked. I also liked our first two collaborations of Blue Pearl and Royal Torque too, which was coincidentally the first episodes I watched when I started my "episode watching rotation" last year. See earlier rants on that sentiment. :P Speaking of episode watching, I might start re watching some episodes again too. And if there's a round I watch, that may or may not have been as strong, I can come back and fix those scores if it was a review I wrote. Which is something we were both doing anyways. Either way, let me know when you've finished the tribute page. That would be great to see. ;)

Speaking of the review lengths, I will admit that when I first started this topic, I never expect to go into so much detail about each episode. I originally wanted each section of an episode review to be a recap of some sort. If you look at the old reviews for Belle Boyd and Iron Mask, they were pretty much summaries of the rounds without much detail. But I didn't really like this because it felt like I was stating the "obvious" when talking about them. So that is why I went into detail more in a lot of reviews. And what can I say, I kind of like writing also. And I think our best collaboration was Queen Boadicea also. I remember that being the review where we didn't exactly agree on the scores for a couple of rounds. For example, I had the temple run ranked too high and you had the Steps ranked a little low. All our other collaborations were great too, but Queen Boadicea sticks out the most.

And I always go back and rewatch Legends episode also. I tend to choose the ones that I have not seen many times and are not talked about much, yet they are still decent. Episodes like Atahualpa, Blue Pearl, Empress Theodora, Polynesian Girl, Davy Crockett, etc. I will NOT watch episodes like Golden Cricket Cage or Bifocal Monocle. :P

I was never good at ranking the Steps or the Legends portion of the review. Probably because those particular rounds bore me the most. Even when I was first getting into the show, I just never liked those rounds. So it was hard for me to give a fair score on those. Unless the round was REALLY exciting, like in Missing Eye or Paintbrush. Or, going in the opposite direction, if the round was notoriously bad and was riddled with wrong episodes, like Geronimo and Silk Ladder. I could've mentioned Trojan Horseshoe, but you already review that one. :P Otherwise, almost every single Steps round on the show was bland and uneventful.

But I liked your reviews, even your very first ones. I don't think you really need to fix them at all. To me, I'd just keep them as they are. Since I personally feel like it's a nostalgic look back at when you first started the project. But, that's just me. ;) And I also liked our collaborations as well. I think it only took a month to finish the rest of the project when we both agreed on that. And look at how well that turned out.

Oh yeah, and I'm gonna start re watching some Legends episodes today. So be on the look out for some changes I might make to some of my reviews. It may not be a big difference, but I just want my rankings to be as accurate as possible. ;)

Don't worry, I didn't forget about the tribute page yet. I have had so many setbacks over the weekend that are now behind me. Since I have all the time in the world tonight, I figure that I should finish it tonight. :P

Also, I know exactly how you feel about wanting to change some of your reviews. I always look back at some of my reviews and wonder "What was a I thinking?". For example, I had Captain John Smith ranking over a 7 at one point. Really? Even now, a 6.6 is way too high. I also had The Trojan Horseshoe rank in the 4-range or something like that. But now it is in the 6 range, which is more fitting. But for the most part, I think we nailed all of the episode's score. IMO, all of the episodes in the 7+ range deserve that score. These are the episodes we say a lot of good things about and deserve the high score. Here is some I might change though:

- Iron Mask (6.9): This one seems a little too high to me.
- Enormous Feather (5.2): This episode does not even deserve to crack the 5's range.
- Apanuugpak (8.9): I still want this episode to reach the 9's range. I gave the Steps of Knowledge a 10 and the Moat an 8. I am thinking of giving the Moat a 10 for being super quick and lowering the SoK to a 9 because it wasn't that perfect.
- Nostradamus (7.8 ): The Orange Iguanas need an episode in the 8-range, and this one really deserves it.  :mrorange:

Yeah, I'm also pretty confident in our episode reviews that ranked in the 7+ range as well. And I would also love to see Nostradamus rank in the 8 range, and Apanuugpak in the 9 range as well. I also want to see Lawrence of Arabia rank in the 9 range as well. I honestly don't think there's a single negative thing I can point out about Lawrence of Arabia. Nickelodeon definitely did the right thing in airing that episode first.

Modifying scores to reflect what you want the overall scores to be based on your personal opinions defeats the purpose of keeping a more objective list of scores. Just because you like or dislike an episode doesn't mean that it should get a higher or lower score than you originally gave it; that introduces more (and often unjustified) bias.

Very true, this is one thing that I tried to avoid doing in my rankings. But when retrospectively looking at these reviews, you sometimes have to compare them and stack them against other episodes too. Like when I ranked Iron Mask, it was so early on in the project that it was more easy to give this episode a more generous score because most of the episodes I ranked at that time were rather lackluster. Same with how the Trojan Horseshoe was ranked low when it is much superior to most Season 1 episodes. ;)

Well, I'm still keeping most of my rankings the same. Even if I DID change it around, it probably wouldn't even make a huge difference anyways. :|

I understand that some adjustments may be necessary along the way, especially as the criteria for assigning scores becomes more specific. I'm just cautioning that if you start intentionally adjusting scores so that certain episodes won't break a 5 or will exceed a 9, for example, then it starts to sabotage the scoring and rankings, which was not the intent of this endeavor. Any given episode should get its score based on how well it meets the criteria used to assign scores, not based off of where it "should" fall based on a scorer's preconceived ideas about that episode. Feel free to disagree, but that is my opinion on that matter.

I figured opinions change over time. And if I'm not rewritting my reviews because I feel like they are too short, I feel like I should rearrange some scores. But, I have nothing more to say about this. I'll just keep things the same, and let that be that.
