Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth-Layouts & Episo...
« on: July 24, 2009, 12:17:02 PM »
As you may have seen from some of my previous posts, I have been planning on posting some of my own fanfics.  Before I do that, however, I feel it’s common courtesy to give you the Temple Layouts and the fanfic titles I plan to use.

A few notes about the show: This show is a theoretical "rejuvenation" of Legends, which takes place in the present (as in right now, 2009-2010). Therefore, the prizes and allusions in the fanfics will reflect this. There will also be a few more changes that will be introduced as I go along.

The Temple Layouts

Each number corresponds with the number on the map.

Season 1
Season 1 has five Temple Layouts.

Layout 1
1. The Crypt--Same thing as the old show.
2. The Ledges--Same as always.
3. The Rope Labyrinth--This room is a large pit with numerous actuators leading to every room it borders.  Strewn around the room are several thick, white ropes that obstruct the contestant’s pathway to the other side.  The top half of the room contains more ropes than the bottom half, so no matter if a contestant enters the Temple via the Crypt or the Ledges, they will still have to crawl through some sort of obstacle to proceed.
4. The Great Seal Room--This room has a cylindrical column in the center, and at the back, a free-standing shelf with four distinct round seals on it.  The contestant must place the correct seal in a small indentation at the top of the column to open the door to the next room.
5. The Chamber of the Sacred Markers--Same as Season 3 of the old show.
6. The Tomb of the Headless Kings--This “veteran room” sees a major change this time around.  There are still two kings, but only one vine which opens the trapdoors, significantly reducing the amount of time needed to progress through the room.
7. The Safari Room--This room’s walls are decorated in animal-print, and five (fake) heads of African animals are mounted on the walls—two on either side of the room, and three in the back.  Going from left to right, the heads are those of a leopard, a rhinoceros, an elephant, a Cape buffalo, and a lion.  The contestant must push in the correct animal head to open the door to the next room.
8. The Bamboo Forest--Same as the Season 1 Bamboo Forest in the old show (here’s looking at you, TBF!).
9. The Shrine of the Silver Monkey--Could you really have Legends without this room?
10. The Dark Forest--Essentially the same, except the trees’ arms are quite a bit longer. The golden doors in the back lead to Room 11, Room 9, and Room 7, respectively.
11. The Room of the Secret Password--Same room, except the password “Klaatu barata nikto” has been replaced with “Dr. Livingstone, I presume”.
12. The Dungeon--Exactly the same room as Season 1 of the old Legends.
13. The Pharaoh’s Secret Passage--Same old, same old.

Layout 2
1. The Crypt
2. The Ledges
3. The Bottomless Pit--This room is essentially identical to The Pit from Season 2 of the old Legends.  A large room, filled with numerous plastic balls on the bottom, with two stone outcroppings on either side (the only difference is that the balls are colored black and purple).  The contestant must swing across on a rope hanging in the room and hit the actuator to open the door to the next room.
4. The Lookout Tower--This room contains nothing but a small telescope on the railing, looking out at the wall behind the audience, where a message is written.  However, the telescope is out of focus.  The contestant must use the two knobs on the left and right side of the telescope to focus it.  As soon as they can discern the message, they must yell out what it says to open the door to the next room.
5. The Geographer’s Study--This room is decorated with two old-fashioned globes on either side of it, but its most distinguishing characteristic is a large map of the world at the back (separated, of course, by the ladder into the Lookout Tower).  This map is missing several pieces, which are strewn about the room.  The contestant must find these pieces and correctly place them to open the door to the next room.
6. The Owl’s Nest--Six nests are arranged in a circle in the center of this room, and strewn all over the room are numerous stuffed owls.  The contestant must find the sole white owl among the other brown or gray ones, and then attach it to the one nest out of the six that it belongs on to open the door to the next room.
7. The Inventor’s Workshop--This room has a large capstan in the center of it, and a large “machine” with numerous gears dons the back wall.  The contestant must spin the capstan completely around four times, until the gears begin to turn (actually, the lighting in the room only gives the impression that they turn), and the door to the next room opens.
8. The Chamber of the Four Elements--Decorated like a Roman temple, this room has a large rectangle in the back separated into four parts.  Around the edges of the rectangle are four large tiles that fit into these slots.  These tiles are decorated with symbols of the four ancient Roman elements—fire, air, earth, and water.  The contestant must place the four tiles in the rectangle, in the correct order, to open the door to the next room.  In this Temple Layout, he tiles have no set order, so ANY combination could be the correct one, making this a very time-consuming room.  The room also has two ladders at the back, which lead to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey and the Inventor’s Workshop.
9. The Shrine of the Silver Monkey
10. The Dark Forest
11. The Room of the Secret Password
12. The Dungeon
13. The Pharaoh’s Secret Passage

Layout 3
1. The Crypt
2. The Ledges
3. The Bottomless Pit
4. The Lunar Landing--This room is decorated like the 1969 moon landing.  At the back of the room is a rotating cylinder decorated like a satellite.  Similar to the Season 1 Observatory, the contestant must align a puzzle on the satellite to open the door to the next room.
5. The Clockwork Room--This room has six clocks on the back wall (separated of course, by the Temple Guard door), with a seventh clock on the Temple Guard door itself.  The contestant must set the six clocks to the same time as the seventh clock (usually 12:00, but sometimes 6:00) to open the door to the next room.
6. The Atlantean Altar--Decorated up like sunken ruins, this room has eight tiles on the back wall (four on each side, similar to the Laser Light Room).  The contestant needs to uncover the tile that has blue light behind it to open the door to the next room.  Olmec calls this “uncovering the tile that lets in the waters of Atlantis”.
7. The Room of the Mystical Keys (used with permission from silverMarker)--There are 9 small compartments aligned in the back of the room (3x3).  The contestant must reach into the compartments and find two keys that are hidden in one each, and then place each one in the correct two of three respective pedestals to open the door.
8. The Jungle Ruins--This room is decorated like an ancient city in the rain forest, with stone structures, rocks and plants galore all over the room.  Like the Swamp from Season 2 of the old Legends, the contestant must maneuver around all this to get to the other side of the room to hit an actuator to go to the next room.
9. The Shrine of the Silver Monkey
10. The Dark Forest
11. The Room of the Secret Password
12. The Dungeon
13. The Pharaoh’s Secret Passage

Layout 4
1. The Crypt
2. The Ledges
3. The Rope Labyrinth
4. The Sculptor's Studio--This room has three pedestals with a statue on top of each one.  Like the King’s Storeroom, the contestant must break open the hollow sculptures to find a key, which they then insert in the correct hole on the pedestals to open the door to the next room.
5. The Chamber of the Sacred Markers
6. The Owl’s Nest
7. The Inventor’s Workshop
8. The Ancient Cave--This room, which is decorated like a cave, has a series of “cave paintings” depicting “cavemen” on the back wall.  Just like the Jester’s Court from Season 3 of the old Legends, the contestant must align their body with the correct wall painting to open the door to the next room.  The room also contains two ladders at the back, which lead to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey and the Inventor’s Workshop.
9. The Shrine of the Silver Monkey
10. The Dark Forest
11. The Room of the Secret Password
12. The Dungeon
13. The Pharaoh’s Secret Passage

Layout 5
1. The Crypt
2. The Ledges
3. The Rope Labyrinth
4. The Magician’s Chamber--There are three pedestals in this room, each with a top hat on it.  The contestant must wave their hand over the top hats to find the (stuffed) rabbit, which will jump out when the hat that contains it is waved over.  The rabbit must then be pulled out of the hat to open the door to the next room.
5. The Clockwork Room
6. The Atlantean Altar
7. The Room of the Golden Torches (used with permission from The Bamboo Forest)--There are three golden torches in the three pedestals of the room, and each has a large bulb on top. The contestant must take a long stick with a "flame" on its tip (just another bulb like the ones on the torches) and touch the tips of the three torches gently. When the correct one lights up, the doors open.
8. The Snake Pit--This room is identical to the Jungle Ruins, except that most of the plants and stone structures are gone, and numerous rubber snakes litter the room—seven, to be exact.  The contestant must place all seven snakes in a large tree stump at the back of the room to open the door to the next room.
9. The Shrine of the Silver Monkey
10. The Dark Forest
11. The Room of the Secret Password
12. The Dungeon
13. The Pharaoh’s Secret Passage

Season 2
Season 2 only has three Temple layouts.

Layout 1
1. The Crypt
2. The Ledges
3. The Bottomless Pit
4. The Great Seal Room
5. The Candelabra Room--Located on the back wall of this room are six candelabras—three to the right of the door to the Great Seal Room, and three to the left of it.  The contestant must push the actuator under the correct candelabra to light it up, which will open the door to the next room.
6. The Tomb of the Headless Kings
7. The Safari Room
8. The Snake Pit--Same room, new objective. The snakes are now made of cloth bags stuffed with pellets, like a beanbag, and they're much larger, about the size of a door draft-guard. The contestant must find all the snakes in the room (either two or three, depending on the episode) and thread them through a large hole in the side of the tree stump to open the door to the next room.
9. The Shrine of the Silver Monkey
10. The Dark Forest
11. The Lightning Ball Room--Exactly the same as the old Lightning Ball Room.
12. The Dungeon
13. The Pharaoh’s Secret Passage

Layout 2
1. The Crypt
2. The Ledges
3. The Bottomless Pit
4. The Lookout Tower
5. The Geographer’s Study
6. The Jewel Mine--In the center of this room is a stationary mine cart. Scattered about the room are ten jewels. The contestant must place all the jewels in the mine cart to open the door to the next room. A Temple Guard may also be hiding in the mine cart.
7. The Shaolin Dojo--Sort of like the Room of the Ancient Warriors, except I’ve added my own twist to it.  A yin-yang symbol at the front of the room, and at the back are three suits of armor.  The player must place the yin-yang on the chest of the correct suit of armor to open the door to the next room.  One of the suits of armor could be possessed by a Temple Guard.
8. The Chamber of the Four Elements--Same name, same objective, one big difference--above the slots where the element tiles should go, a pattern above them indicates the correct tile for the slot.  This greatly reduces the amount of time that must be spent in the room.
9. The Shrine of the Silver Monkey
10. The Dark Forest
11. The Lightning Ball Room
12. The Dungeon
13. The Pharaoh’s Secret Passage

Layout 3
1. The Crypt
2. The Ledges
3. The Rope Labyrinth
4. The Sculptor's Studio
5. The Room of the Mystical Keys
6. The Atlantean Altar
7. The Safari Room
8. The Ancient Cave
9. The Shrine of the Silver Monkey
10. The Dark Forest
11. The Lightning Ball Room
12. The Dungeon
13. The Pharaoh’s Secret Passage

Tournament of Champions Layout
1. The Crypt
2. The Ledges
3. The Rope Labyrinth
4. The Lunar Landing
5. The Chamber of the Sacred Markers
6. The Tomb of Forgotten Treasures--This room consists of eight compartments at the back of the room, each one filled with an artifact from a previous episode.  The player must find the artifact from the episode they first appeared on and place it on a pedestal in order to proceed.
7. The Emperor’s Storeroom--This new room is a nod to the King’s Storeroom from episodes past.  Decorated like a Chinese temple, it features six pedestals near the back of the room, with enough space between them and the back wall for the player to walk between.  Each pedestal has a ceramic pot decorated like a priceless Ming vase.  The player must smash the vases in search of a key, then insert said key into the right hole in one of the pedestals to open the door to the next room.
8. The Ancient Cave
9. The Shrine of the Silver Monkey
10. The Dark Forest
11. The Tortoise’s Territory--A long, narrow post stands in the center of the room, and six turtle shells are arranged in a row at the back.  The player must stack the turtle shells on the post, in order from smallest to largest, to open the door to the next room.  Only the smallest shell will go on the bottom, only the next-to-smallest shell will go on top of the smallest shell, etc.
12. The Dungeon
13. The Pharaoh’s Secret Passage

And now, the episodes themselves.  Hope I didn’t duplicate (or come close to duplicating) anybody’s.  If I did, I profoundly and deeply apologize.

UPDATE:
I've uploaded a few more episodes, and changed the name of my future fanfic of "The Bullet-Shot Playing Card of Charles Cognetz" to "The Bullet-Pierced Playing Card of Charles Cognetz.

In addition, I've decided to nix "The Brass Astrolabe of Nicolas de Ovando" in favor of another episode. Any ideas for replacements would be appreciated.

UPDATE:

I've changed "The Brass Astrolabe of Nicolas de Ovando" to "The Modified Charts of Pedro Alvares Cabral. Also, I only recently realized that TAW has done a legend about Akhenaton, so I've changed "The Smashed Statue of Akhenaton" to "The Smashed Statue of Darius the Second".

I've also added a new room to one of my layouts--The Clockwork Room.

So, is Season 1 production order and Season 2 alphabetical/airing order? Or is there a different system for you sorting episodes?

Yeah. Thing was, I was just too lazy to sort the Season 2 Episodes, so I just put 'em in alphabetical order for right now. I might order them differently later if I feel like it.

UPDATE:

Episode 10 is now up.
Also, since my college classes start tomorrow, production of these things is going to become quite a bit slower (as in one episode every 2 or 3 weeks   ). Please understand.

Well, looks like he beat you to actually writing stuff.  I think it'd be way easier for you to just change the title than it would be for him, seeing as you haven't even posted one episode. ^^;

WHAT???????!!! That was gonna be my project!! :(

Sorry...I actually saw your post, and was waiting for you to post something before I actually started this thing. Since you didn't post anything for several days, I went ahead and did it. If you really want, I can change my project name, instead of you changing yours (since you did come up with it first...)
Favorite Episode: The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen
Favorite Room: The Chamber of the Sacred Markers
Favorite Team: Blue Barracudas

It's baaaaaaaack...
Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth! (return date TBD)

1980s - Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, etc.
1990s - Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Nirvana, etc.
Present - Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, etc.
You do the math.

UPDATE:
Since lothtfan didn't respond to my invitation to let him use Rebirth for his project name the last time he was on here, my project name will remain the same.
Episode 11 should be up sometime tonight or tomorrow. Keep an eye out for it.
