So, it's been a while since I've started a poll here. And you guessed it, it's another rehash topic. I figure it's about time I start this particular poll over again. Especially since the first topic was put together rather sloppily. There were A LOT of good failed escapes on the show. And I have a feeling this will make for some interesting discussion here. Furthermore, it's been almost two years since we've last covered this. So I figure everyone's opinions have changed since then. Plus, I would love to get feedback for some of the newer members here that weren't around for the original topic.

So let's dig right in and get restarted, shall we? We will cover all the failed escapes in the same order as last time. ;)

We will start with "The Medal of Sir Edmund Hilary." :mrsilver:

Previous Results:
The Medal of Sir Edmund Hillary: 8.00

So yet another rehash topic has emerged. Only this time, we're rating the Purple Parrot temple runs. This shouldn't take too long, considering the Purple Parrots only have a mere 11 temple appearances. I was gonna bump the first topic, and pick up right where we had left off. But, the polls didn't get enough votes, and the topic was outdated. So I figured it would be a better idea to start fresh with a new topic. The first thread didn't last long, but let's hope this topic fares better. This thread is basically the same as all the other rating threads. Rate how much you like the Purple Parrot temple run on a scale of 1-10.

So let's get restarted, shall we? :mrpurple: We will start with "The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief." :mrpurple:

So over a year ago, we had a topic rating all the Legends wins, much like we are doing with the Legends Rooms thread. So just like the other polls, vote for how much you like a win on a scale of 1-10. I thought this would be another interesting topic/poll to rehash, especially since opinions change in over a year. And hopefully this will get enough votes and be popular enough. ;)

So let's restart this thread, shall we? ;) We will start with "The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza."

So not long ago, a request to rehash an old poll/topic came to my attention, and I decided to take them up on that. Basically, we're rating the rooms on a scale of 1-10. Just like we've been rating moat crossings and color combinations. I figured we'd start a new topic on this. I could've bumped the other thread, but then it would make the original topic look too cluttery. So I figured we could start fresh. ;)

And here's the basis of voting, as said in the original topic: So every day in the original post, I will have a temple room that you can vote for with a new poll. You can place a vote on scale of 1 (bad) - 10 (good). You can vote for a room on any basis: appearance, difficulty, objective, memorableness, etc. Once the poll is done, the poll will be averaged and the average score will be posted.

So let's get this restarted, shall we? ;) We will start with the Heart Room.

The Temple Games / Most Forgettable Episode - Three Strikes Edition
« on: June 04, 2014, 08:43:45 PM »
So now it's time for another strikes thread. This time, it's forgettable episodes.

Rules:
1.) You can give a strike to one episode every hour. You must wait 24 hours if no one else votes between your last post though.
2.) Once an episode receives three strikes, it will be removed from the list.
3.) We will rank the 20 remaining episodes.
4.) There is no need to update the list in every single post, I will do it a couple of times on every page.
5.) Have fun! Please take 3 seconds to cast your vote.

And remember, we're eliminating the most memorable episodes first. So it's not necessarily the best episode, it's the most memorable episode. Even some of the worst episodes are memorable too. ;)

So I thought I'd something new here, this time rating the color combinations on the show. First we're gonna cover the Steps of Knowledge pairs, and then move on to the temple games. Please keep in mind it's not about the Steps of Knowledge rounds. We're rating these match ups based on how the colors looked, and the episodes that featured that pair. I hope this makes sense. ;)

The Temple Games / Hurt and Heal: Legends Teams!
« on: May 13, 2014, 03:14:28 PM »
So we had a thread here a long time ago, hurting and healing all six Legends teams. Red and Green were eliminated first, and Blue and Purple ended up being the final two, with Purple winning. :mrblue: :mrpurple: I realize this game has already been done. But since this was a long time ago, I figure our opinions have changed over time. So why not do it again? ;)

RULES:
Three times a day, you can hurt a team (-1) and heal another (+1) until that team point count reaches 0, at which point they are eliminated. I'll change the number of points we hurt or heal somewhere in the game as we go along. I hope twice a day is a decent time window. Since this is about six teams after all. Which shouldn't take too long ;)

There will be three rounds, each corresponding to a round in the show. The first two losing teams will be eliminated at the moat, next two teams will be eliminated on the Steps, one team will be eliminated at the temple games, etc. If there are some rules and guidelines I need to change, then I'll edit this post and change it accordingly. Oh yeah, and have fun! :mrpurple:

So, without further ado...

Round 1: The Moat

Red Jaguars - 20
Blue Barracudas - 20
Green Monkeys - 20
Orange Iguanas - 20
Purple Parrots - 20
Silver Snakes - 20

I'll start us off in the next post. And you don't have to color code them either. ;)

So this is my first time actually starting a poll of my own. And I figure I'd start it by rating every moat crossing on each production day of the show. We're going by which filming day had what moat, instead of ranking the moats by episode. So with that being said, let's start with the Season 1, Layout 1 moat featuring "King Tut's Staff." :mrpurple:

I personally give this moat an 8. I don't know if I'm alone on this, but I happen to really like this moat. Sure it might have been easy, but it was very creative for a first ever moat. It was MUCH better than the same tired "use a rope to get across" moat that half of Season 1 had. The only problem with this moat is some contestants did take their sweet time getting across sometimes. But you would see that with any moat. I honestly wish this moat was used often. Very creative and original. ;)

Moat Crossing Ratings:

Season/LayoutAverage
Season 1, Layout 1: King Tut's Staff7.00
Season 1, Layout 2: Aztec Footboard5.75
Season 1, Layout 3: Swimming with Overhead Rope for a Tightrope2.25

Season 1, Layout 8: Hand-over-Hand on Overhead Rope with Inflatable Tubes3.75
Season 1, Layout 9: Scramble Across a Horizontal Ring Bridge7.00
Season 2, Layout 1: (Silver Horseshoe Day): Criss Crossing Ropes5.80

Season 2, Layout 3/5: (Nose Ring/Nostradamus Day): Swing on a Vine5.25

Season 3: (Chandragupta Day): Balance on a Boogie Board7.00
Season 3: (Snow Cone Day): Side Scrolling Net6.80
Season 3: (Discarded Seal Day): Three Islands and a Plank6.80
Season 3: (Roland Day): Slippery Footpath8.75

Season 3: (Metal Beard Day): Lilypads and Vines6.80
Season 3: (Gwalior Day): Run/Crawl Across a Bridge5.20
Season 3: (Smashed Printing Plate/Sforza Day): Net and Vine8.00

What do you think? Anyone like this idea for a poll? ;)

There are a number of runs where it should've been opposite order of players, where the second runner went first, and vice versa. Here's my list of those aid teams, and my reasoning behind it:

Jackie and Shane from Oracle Bowl: Granted, Jackie was a lost cause to begin with. But this run would've turned out a little bit better if Jackie went in first, and got taken out in the Swamp instead. I'm willing to bet she would've left Shane with about 1:20 or so left on the clock. Then Shane could've gone in there and at least grabbed the bowl at the last second. Of course, they still would've lost either way thanks to Jackie.

Retina and Tim from Gordian Knot: Pretty much the same as Oracle Bowl, only less cluelessness on Retina's part. Retina probably would've left Tim with about 1:40 or so left on the clock, and Tim could've gone in there and grabbed the Gordian Knot. Maybe even speed out with it too.

Katie and Jared from Mystical Spellbook: Okay, I'll give them that this layout was hard, but Jared had no business in the Dark Forest whatsoever. Katie should've gone in first, at least she would've blazed through the temple and left Jared with about 1:20 on the clock. She wouldn't have dilly dallied around in the Dark Forest and look around for nothing.

Dawn and Ryan from Gwalior: Ryan was the fast one of the two, Dawn moved a little too slow for me. If the order of players had been reversed, they probably would've reached the necklace. And maybe have a close finish too?

I hope this is a good thread idea. Sorry in advance if there's already a topic on this. ;)

The Jesters' Court / Post 50k speech
« on: January 04, 2014, 10:11:01 PM »
Well technically, this is Post 50,004, but I'll make a speech anyways. :P

My, what a ride this has been. I've been at this forum for over 7 years now, and I never thought I'd see the day I'd make it to Post 50,000. While I have been a member here for a long time now, this isn't actually the longest I've been on a forum for. That title goes to another forum I'm a member of, but is much more inactive than here. But this is the forum I'm the most dedicated to, and it's the only forum I know that is so dedicated to an obscure game show that stopped production over 18 years ago. Who knew? Either way, this place is great and I've met so many awesome people here, that I never would've met any other way. I know I can come across a little curt, blunt, and snobbish, and I know I'm a little too nitpicky over small things at times. But I guess if you can put up with me without wanting to punch me, I know I've done something right. Maybe I can be mean at times, but hey we're not all perfect people. I know this postcount stuff is all because I spend a majority of my time in the games section. And I know this doesn't really count towards anything in real life, but I'm very glad to have made it this far. So thanks to everyone who made this all happen! :mrpurple: :mrpink: I'm a happy chicken for all of this, and here's to another 50,000 posts. If that's possible at all. And.... that's it. I suck at speeches. :azn:

And one more thing:

Post 50k-ception. Now I'm done. :P

A lot of people here think that only the Purple Parrots featured teams that dominated every round just to get to the temple. While they did make it to the temple 6/11 times with 2 pendants, AND featured a lot of strong teams, I feel like the Blue Barracudas had even stronger teams. I mean, they went to the temple with 2 pendants 11/19 temple appearances, which is a MUCH better ratio than the Purple Parrots.

Here are some of the strongest Purple Parrot teams:
The Oracle Bowl of Deplhi
The Leopard Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley
The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid (most obvious example, since they won)
The Milk Bucket of Freydis (also won)
The Upside Down Compass of Henry Hudson

And here are some of the strongest Blue Barracuda teams:
John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine (won)
The Belly Button of Buddha (Also won)
The Diary of Dr. Livingstone (Also won)
The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor (Even though they had 1 pendant, John and Missy were strong pre temple)
The Mask in the Man in the Iron Mask
The Mysterious Manuscript of Mary Shelley
The Missing Portrait of Hans Holbein
The Red Sash of Tokugawa Ieyasu

As you can see, the Blue Barracudas dominated more pre temple rounds than the Purple Parrots. While everyone seems to think the Purple Parrots were the only ones to dominate, that's false. Don't get me wrong, I still stand by my Parrots, but I just think people are off base to say "How many other teams can say we dominated every round and still lost?" What do you guys think?

The Moat / So I just got an email from Viacom....

And they are still stopping to say....

So yes, it was an April Fools prank after all. I know some of you caught on rather quickly, and you were right. I'm surprised no one found this out sooner, which made the prank that much better. So I love you all and you're not "fuckers" or "bastards" and I hope you guys can be good sports about this despite all this. And yes, TAW and TSM were in on this too.

So, what did yall think of my little prank? ;)
