Legends: Rebirth-The Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl
« on: September 20, 2009, 06:47:18 PM »
Episode 17: The Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl

The camera winds and twists its way through a thick jungle of strange and exotic plants. After a few wrong turns, it finally stops in front of an ancient Mayan temple. At the base of the temple, a giant stone head sits. Suddenly, the head’s eyes light up and it begins to speak:

Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth!” These words appear on the screen. “With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!”

A middle-aged man wearing a denim shirt and blue jeans swings in on a rope. He drops down and runs up the Steps of Knowledge, microphone in hand.

“Thank you! Thank you, everybody! Nice to see everyone again! It’s good to see you again, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth. The rooms are filled with lost treasures protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legends behind each of these newly discovered treasures in his temple…which one are we gonna hear about today, Olmec?”

“The legend of the Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl,” Olmec replies.

“Ah, the Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl,” Kirk replies. “Well, the legend is set, and one of these six teams will get a chance to retrieve the feathered crown—will it be:

“The Red Jaguars?” The camera pans to each team as they are introduced.
“The Blue Barracudas?
“The Green Monkeys?
“The Orange Iguanas?
“The Purple Parrots?
“Or the Silver Snakes?

“They’ll have to pass through some tough physical and mental tests, but in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec’s Temple. But first, they have to cross the Moat, and Olmec’s gonna tell us how they’ll have to do it today…”

Olmec begins to explain the Moat Crossing:
“Before you are several petrified logs that have fallen into the Moat. When Kirk gives the signal, one player from each team will begin walking across the logs to the other side. Once you’re safely across, your partner will do the same. If you fall or touch the logs with your hands, you must go back and start again. Once both players reach the other side, run over and hit the gong.” Kirk hits the Silver Snakes’ gong to demonstrate. “The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round!”

“Okay, let’s get started,” remarks Kirk. “Hey teams, are you ready?”
All six teams scream and cheer in response.
“Mr. Olmec, are you ready?” Kirk asks.
“Let’s rock,” Olmec replies.
“All right,” Kirk says. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

All six players run onto the logs. Everyone falls off almost immediately except the Blue Barracudas’ boy and the Silver Snakes’ boy, who make it across successfully. “Those logs are really difficult to stay on!” says Kirk. The Purple Parrots’ girl and Orange Iguanas’ boy make it across, but the Red Jaguars’ boy, Silver Snakes’ girl, and Green Monkeys’ boy fall off on their second tries at crossing. The Blue Barracudas’ girl makes it across, and she rushes over to hit the gong, which lights up a bright blue the second she slams her hand down on it. The Green Monkeys’ boy makes it across, and so does the Orange Iguanas’ girl, and she dashes over to hit her gong. The Purple Parrots’ boy makes it about halfway across before losing his balance and falling into the Moat. The Silver Snakes’ girl makes it across as well, and she hits her team’s gong. “There’s our third team—there’s only room for one more!” narrates Kirk. The Purple Parrots’ boy makes it across on his second try, but so does the Green Monkeys’ boy, and the two teams have a race to the gongs, with the Green Monkeys beating out the Purple Parrots.

“That’s it! We’ve got our four teams!” Kirk narrates as he rushes onscreen and stands beside the Silver Snakes. “The Silver Snakes had a little trouble at the start, but they came back, and goin’ on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Silver Snakes…along with the Orange Iguanas,” Kirk briefly pauses between each team’s name to allow applause. “And the Green Monkeys, and the Blue Barracudas! The Red Jaguars and the Purple Parrots did great, too, but came up just a little shy. But they’re not goin’ away empty-handed—we’ve got a great gift for ‘em, and here’s what it is!” They receive a $50 gift certificate from American Eagle.

Legends: Rebirth-The Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl
« Reply #1 on: September 20, 2009, 06:53:53 PM »
Kirk and the four remaining teams are now standing atop the Steps of Knowledge. “As the quest continues, it’s now time for Olmec to tell us about the Feathered Crown of Nets-a-wall-coyotl. But listen up, teams, because it’s your knowledge of the legend that can bring you a step closer to Olmec’s Temple…”

Olmec begins to tell the story:
“One of the greatest rulers of ancient Mexico was Nezahualcoyotl, the king of Texcoco. He was born heir to the throne, but in 1418, when the young prince was just fifteen, his home kingdom was attacked by a brutal neighboring tribe known as the Tecpanecs. Nezahualcoyotl and his father, the king, had to flee to the nearby city of Tenochtitlan. As the vicious Tecpanecs terrorized Texcoco and the surrounding kingdoms, Nezahualcoyotl and his father watched from the sidelines.
“‘What are we going to do, Dad?’ Nezahualcoyotl asked his father.
“‘We’ll do what any red-blooded Mexican would do,’ said his father. ‘We’ll find a place to hide!’
“‘No, Dad—we have to do something!’
“‘Oh, all right…rally up the neighboring tribes! We declare war on the Tecpanecs!’
“After gathering up an army of more than 100,000 men, Nezahualcoyotl and his father appeared in front of them. Legend has it that upon seeing the brave king and his young son dressed in their war clothes, the army began cheering loudly.
“‘Those Tecpanecs are going down!’ shouted one of the soldiers.
“‘All hail Nezahualcoyotl!’ cried a second.
“‘Yeah, all hail Neza…wall…uh, what he said!’ shouted a third.
“The massive army headed into battle. After the men reconquered Texcoco, they split up into three parts and attacked the other kingdoms the Tecpanecs were pillaging, effectively freeing all three of them. Nezahualcoyotl was finally crowned king in 1431, and was given a feathered crown as a symbol of his power. He united his own kingdom with the other two surrounding ones, and the three tribes became a powerhouse in Mexico until well into the 1500’s. Nezahualcoyotl is long gone, but his crown has found its way to the Temple. Your quest is to find the Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl and bring it back here.”

“Thanks, Olmec,” Kirk replies. “So tell us, where is the Feathered Crown?”

“The Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl can be found…in the Dungeon,” Olmec replies. The camera zooms in on the crown placed beside a seated skeleton in the room before fading back to Kirk.

“Teams, you’re now standing on the Steps of Knowledge,” Kirk explains. “In a moment, Olmec’s gonna ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on that ancient marking in front of you. If you’re right, you’ll move down to the next level, but if you’re wrong or you run out of time, I’m gonna give the other teams a chance to answer.” Kirk begins descending the Steps. “The first two teams to make it to the lev—bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec’s Temple. Olmec…we’re now ready for your first question.”

Olmec begins:
“Was Nezahualcoyotl from: Barbados, Mexico, or Costa Rica?”
The Orange Iguanas ring in. “Mexico.”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Orange Iguanas step down to the next level.
“Orange Iguanas, step down,” Kirk narrates. “Next question.”

“What Mexican kingdom did Nezahualcoyotl live in: Texcoco, Tenochtitlan, or Cancun?”
The Blue Barracudas ring in. “Tenoch…itlan?”
“Incorrect,” Olmec replies.
After a few more seconds of inactivity, the Green Monkeys ring in. “Thenochitlan?”
“Incorrect,” Olmec replies. “The correct answer was: Texcoco.”
“Okay, take it easy, big guy,” Kirk appeases. “Just ask the next question, please.”

“Was the tribe that attacked Texcoco known as: the Tupelos, the Tecpanecs, or the Tempuras?”
The Orange Iguanas ring in. “Tepa-necks?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Orange Iguanas proceed to the penultimate step.
“Nice job, Orange Iguanas,” Kirk narrates. “They’re now only one step away, but anything could happen. Next question.”

“How old was Nezahualcoyotl when the Tecpanecs attacked: thirteen—”
The Orange Iguanas ring in. “Fifteen?”
“That…is correct!” Olmec replies. The Orange Iguanas leap to the bottom and high-five one another.
“And our first team for the Temple Games is the Orange Iguanas!” Kirk narrates. “But we need two teams. Who’s it gonna be: the Blue Barracudas, the Green Monkeys, or the Silver Snakes? Next question, Olmec.”

“Did Nezahualcoyotl and his father decide to: surrender, retreat, or—”
The Silver Snakes ring in. “Fight the…other tribe?”
“That…is correct,” Olmec replies hesitantly. The Silver Snakes step to the next level.
“Silver Snakes step down now,” Kirk narrates. “Next question.”

“How many men were in the army: 50,000, 100,000, or 200,000?”
The Silver Snakes ring in again. “A hundred thousand?”
“That is correct,” Olmec booms. The Silver Snakes proceed to the next-to-last step.
“Silver Snakes are now just one step away,” Kirk narrates. “There’s still plenty of time for the other teams, though. Next question, please.”

“After freeing Texcoco, did the army: celebrate, free the surrounding kingdoms, or go to Dis—”
The Silver Snakes ring in. “Free the surrounding kingdoms?”
That is correct!” Olmec bellows. The Silver Snakes step to the bottom level, and the Orange Iguanas congratulate them.

“And we’ve got our two teams!” Kirk exclaims as he runs over and stands between them. “It’s the Orange Iguanas, and the Silver Snakes! Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, come on down here, guys. You guys did great, too; we’ve got a great gift for you, too, and here’s what it is!” They receive a backpack from Outdoor Products.

“These two teams are playin’ for the right to enter Olmec’s Temple, and they’re gonna do it right after this!” Kirk explains.

The camera pans in on a fake tree somewhere onset and zooms in on a rubber tarantula “climbing” up its trunk as the title appears onscreen, and we go to a commercial.

Legends: Rebirth-The Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl
« Reply #2 on: September 20, 2009, 07:01:48 PM »
We return from the break to find Kirk standing in front of the Temple with the two remaining teams.

“Welcome back to Legends: Rebirth,” he says. “Now, the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But first, let’s meet our two teams…

“On the Orange Iguanas, we have Taylor—she likes to cook and sew, and she wants to be a nurse. And her partner is Adam—his favorite subjects are science and social studies, and he also likes to play street hockey—how ‘bout a hand for the Orange Iguanas?” The audience claps for the cute blue-eyed girl with wavy brown hair and the tall brown-eyed boy with spiky blond hair.

“And on the Silver Snakes, this is Amber—she plays softball and she wants to be a veterinarian. And her partner, Skye, likes baseball and football, and he wants to be a writer—let’s hear it for the Silver Snakes!” The audience applauds for the tall hazel-eyed girl with long auburn hair and the equally tall, lanky, blue-eyed boy with short brown hair.

“All right, are you guys ready?” Kirk asks the teams.

“Yeah!” they reply.

“All right, go get ready for the Temple Games. In the Temple Games, our teams are competing for…” Kirk retrieves a Pendant of Life from his pouch and holds it up to the camera. “…Pendants of Life. The winning team is gonna need Pendants just like this to protect them from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through Olmec’s Temple. There are three Temple Games. Olmec, could you tell us about Temple Game #1?”

“I’m on it,” Olmec replies. The black lights under Olmec come on and he begins to explain the first game:

“When the Tecpanecs invaded their home kingdom, Nezahualcoyotl and his father had to flee to the nearby kingdom of Tenochtitlan. In this game, you will see what that may have felt like. When Kirk gives the signal, begin running to turn the giant wheel you’re standing on. For every rotation you make, it symbolizes one mile traveled to Tenochtitlan. The player who travels the most miles at the end of thirty seconds…wins.”

“We’ve got a long journey ahead of us,” Kirk remarks. “So let’s get started. Let’s set the clock for thirty seconds!” The clock slams down in the corner, all set to go. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

Neither Amber nor Taylor is all that fast, but they both have very good balance—neither one falls throughout the entire thirty seconds. Taylor has rotated her Pendant-shaped wheel six times, and Amber seven times, by the time the game ends.

“All right, that’s it!” Kirk shouts as he runs back onscreen. “Come on down here, girls—they’re dizzy now, I’m sure!” Kirk looks back at the scorecards. “It looks like the Orange Iguanas got six rotations, and…the Silver Snakes got seven rotations! That means the Silver Snakes get the half Pendant of Life!” The audience applauds for a few seconds. “The Orange Iguanas can still catch up in this next Temple Game, though. It’s also worth a half Pendant. Olmec, tell us about it, please…”

Olmec begins:
“After watching the Tecpanecs attack Texcoco, Nezahualcoyotl and his father decided to fight back—but first, they had to gather up enough supplies. When Kirk gives the signal, run around, grab an arrow for the army, come back and place it in your bin. Then run back, grab another arrow and do it again. The first player to retrieve all their arrows or…the player with the most arrows at the end of sixty seconds wins!”

“Getting arrows for the army,” Kirk observes. “Let’s set the clock for sixty seconds!” The clock slams down in the corner, ready to go. “Both players are in position…on your mark, get set, GO!”

Adam and Skye both get the hang of the rotating lever fairly quickly, but Adam develops a better rhythm of retrieving the arrows from the felt board. To boot, he never misses when he drops his arrows in his bin, whereas Skye misses twice. Adam has noticeably more arrows when time expires.

“Okay, that’s it!” Kirk exclaims as he runs back onscreen. “Round and round they go! But let’s stop for a second so we can count these up…” Kirk kneels beside the Orange Iguanas’ bin. “Check the Orange Iguanas first—they got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine arrows, and the Silver Snakes—let’s see, they got one, two, three, four, five, six arrows! So the Orange Iguanas get the half Pendant of Life!” The audience applauds for a few seconds. “Now, it’s all tied up at a half Pendant apiece. But now, it’s time for the third and final Temple Game. It’s worth a full Pendant of Life. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #3…”

Olmec begins to explain the final Temple Game:
“After gathering up an army of 100,000 men, Nezahualcoyotl and his father marched off into battle against the thousands of Tecpanecs terrorizing the kingdoms. Fortunately for you, the army you must take down is much smaller. Before you stands an army of Tecpanec soldiers. When Kirk gives the signal, load your slingshot and knock down one of the Tecpanecs. Then, your partner will load the slingshot. The first team to knock down all four soldiers, or…the team that knocks down the most soldiers in sixty seconds…wins!”

“Soldiers galore,” Kirk says. “Let’s set the clock for sixty seconds, please!” The clock slams down in the bottom right-hand corner. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

Both teams knock over a Temple Guard-shaped target on their first shot. They both miss on their second shot—both balls go flying through the space where the previous target once stood. The Silver Snakes knock over a target on their next shot. The Orange Iguanas also hit one, but it doesn’t fall over. The Silver Snakes miss another shot, allowing the Orange Iguanas to hit a second target and tie it up with 32 seconds to go. A long period of missed shots follows until about 10 seconds remain on the clock, when the Orange Iguanas hit their third target. The Silver Snakes hit their third with about five seconds to go. With about three seconds left on the clock, both teams try to knock down their last target, but they both miss. Time expires immediately afterward.

“All right, that’s it!” Kirk shouts as he runs back onscreen. “Come on down here, everybody. The Orange Iguanas knocked over three targets, but the Silver Snakes also knocked over three targets. That means both teams get a full Pendant. That gives the Orange Iguanas a Pendant and a half; the Silver Snakes also have a Pendant and a half—we’ve got a tie! Let’s bring in the tiebreaker pedestal!”

A spotter wheels in the tiebreaker pedestal, and both teams position themselves behind it. Kirk stands beside the pedestal and explains the rules.

“Okay, teams, here are the rules. In a few minutes, Olmec’s gonna ask you one final question. If you think you know the answer, hit the gong in front of you. You’ll have three seconds to answer, and we must accept your first response. The first team to buzz in and answer the question correctly is going inside the Temple in search of the Feathered Crown of Neza-walk-a-waddle. All clear?” Both teams nod in response. “Okay,” Kirk says. “Olmec…what is your final question?”

Olmec begins to ask the final question of the day:
“After he became king, did Nezahualcoyotl: unite with the surrounding tribes, destroy the—”

The Orange Iguanas ring in. “Unite with the surrounding tribes.”

“That…is correct!” Olmec booms.

“The Orange Iguanas are goin’ to the Temple!” Kirk shouts as the Orange Iguanas high-five one another in excitement. “Nice job, guys! Silver Snakes, you guys did a great job, too. You aren’t going home empty-handed at all. We’ve got a great gift for you guys, and here’s what it is!” They receive Endless Ocean for the Nintendo Wii.

As the prize disappears off-screen, Kirk is seen standing between the two members of the winning team, who are applauding excitedly. “Now we’ll see if the Orange Iguanas can make it through Olmec’s Temple and retrieve the Feathered Crown of Nezahual-co-waddle, right after this!”

The camera pans in on the Temple and zooms in on the Dungeon. The Feathered Crown can be seen in the back corner of the room as the title appears onscreen and we go to a commercial.

Legends: Rebirth-The Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl
« Reply #3 on: September 20, 2009, 07:12:16 PM »
We return from the break to find Kirk standing in front of the Temple with the winning team.

“Welcome back to Legends: Rebirth,” he says. “The Orange Iguanas, Adam and Taylor, have proven themselves worthy enough, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec’s Temple. But before they get started, Olmec’s gonna give them some information to help them retrieve the Feathered Crown of Nexa-wall-coyotl…”

Olmec begins to explain the layout as the camera gives us a first-person tour of the Temple:
“You could start…by running up the stairs to the Crypt! Grab the book from the skeletons, and pass into the Bottomless Pit! Swing across the gap, and climb into the Lookout Tower. Focus the telescope to read the ancient print on the far wall, and a door may open into the Geographer’s Study. Find the missing pieces of the map and correctly place them, and pass into the Inventor’s Workshop. Turn the wheel to start the machine, and open the door to the SHRIIIIINE of the Silver Monkey! Assemble the statue and you may be headed toward the Room…of the Secret Password. Find the tablet with the correct inscription and shout it out to open the door to the Pharaoh’s Secret Passage. Slide down the tunnel to the Dungeon, where you could smash through the wall into the Dark Forest—but beware of the Temple Guards that may inhabit the trees! Find the key in the tree, and you’ll enter the Chamber…of the Four Elements. Place the elements in the proper order, and you’ll gain entry to the Owl’s Nest! Find the special white owl, and attach it to its proper nest, then…race through the Pit, climb through the Ledges, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate. The choices are yours and yours alone!” Olmec pauses. “You won 1½ Pendants in the Temple Games. Who’s going first?”

“I am,” says Taylor, raising her hand.

“Very well, Taylor,” Olmec replies. “When Kirk gives the signal, you’ll race through the Gate into the Temple and make your way toward the Feathered Crown. Hidden inside the Temple are Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but…if you’re caught without a Pendant, you’ll be taken out of the Temple, and it’ll be Adam’s turn to enter and try his luck. Hidden somewhere in the Temple is the other half of your Pendant. If you can find it and you’re carrying the other half, you’ll receive an extra life. If you can reach the Feathered Crown, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. Return through the Gate with the Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl in three minutes, and you’ll both be handsomely rewarded…and here’s how!”

• Just for making it this far, they’ll get a sports package from Outdoor Products.
• If they can reach the Feathered Crown within three minutes, they’ll also receive an Xbox 360, complete with three new games.
• And if they can bring the Feathered Crown out of the Temple before three minutes expires, they’ll win a trip to Waikiki Beach, Hawaii.

“All right, let’s see if they can make it through the Temple and claim that prize,” Kirk says. “Let’s get ready here. Let’s set the clock for three minutes!” The clock slams down in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, all set to go.

“Olmec, lower your gate.” Olmec moans gutturally as the gate is lowered, and the black lights under him go out.

“Looks like he’s ready…are you ready, Taylor?” Kirk asks.
“Yeah,” Taylor replies.
“Okay,” Kirk replies. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

Taylor rushes up the stairs, clutching her Pendant. She enters the Crypt, and pulls both books on the back wall, opening the door to the Bottomless Pit on the second pull—as well as the secret door in the back of the room, revealing the first TEMPLE GUARD (2:52). “Oh, Temple Guard, right off the bat!” narrates Kirk. “But she’s got a Pendant, so she can go on!” Taylor hands the Guard her Pendant and proceeds through the open door out of the Crypt. She swings across the gap in the Bottomless Pit and hits the actuators for the Geographer’s Study and the Lookout Tower. Only the door to the latter room opens, and Taylor proceeds into the room (2:37). She goes to the front of the room and looks through the telescope. After fiddling with the knobs on the left and right of the telescope for a few seconds, she finally shouts out, “Sixteen men on the dead man’s ship!” This opens the door downward to the Geographer’s Study (2:22). “She read the password, and now the door opens!” Kirk narrates. “Now she’s head—oh, into the Geographer’s Studies!” Taylor climbs the ladder down into the room, and seeing a piece of North America on the stage-left wall, goes to retrieve it, and places it on the gap in the map on the back wall (2:14). She finds another piece on the floor, and correctly places the missing Kamchatka Peninsula in the upper right-hand corner. Taylor looks around for a few seconds before she retrieves the last two pieces on the stage-right wall, and places them where Australia’s Great Dividing Range and South America’s Cape Horn should be, and the door to the Inventor’s Workshop opens with the usual sound effect (2:00). “That’s all the pieces! Into the Inventor’s Workshop!” Kirk narrates. Taylor bolts into the room, but is immediately grabbed by the second TEMPLE GUARD (1:55).

“Oh, Temple Guard got her! Go, Adam!” Kirk exclaims, and Adam takes off like a rocket. Adam follows Taylor’s path exactly, and finds the hidden half Pendant on the actuator to the Lookout Tower (1:46). “There’s that hidden half Pendant!” Kirk narrates. “He may need that later on!” Adam continues on his way, jumping the last few rungs of the ladder leading into the Geographer’s Study (1:38). He quickly makes it to the Inventor’s Workshop and finds the capstan in the center of the room. He grabs a handle and makes four complete revolutions of the wheel before the lighting in the back of the room gives the impression of the wall’s painted-on gears turning, and the door to the Shrine opens (1:17). “That opens the door to the Shrine of the Siiiilver Monkey!” narrates Kirk. “He’s only two rooms away!” Adam grabs all three pieces of the monkey with one swoop as he enters the room, and brings them back to the front. He places the base and middle, and after a little trouble aligning it correctly, jams down the head, opening the door to the Room of the Secret Password (0:57). “That’s it! Now on to the Secret Password!” narrates Kirk. “Less than a minute to go!” Adam enters the room, but before he can open one of the cabinets, the third TEMPLE GUARD enters the room from the secret door in the back (0:52). “Oh, there’s the third Temple Guard!” Kirk narrates as Adam hands over his two Pendant halves. “Good thing he found that other Pendant half, huh?” Adam opens the cabinet on the stage-left wall, pulls out the tablet, takes out his mouthpiece, and screams out “Open sesame!” (0:43). A sound effect of a door opening is heard, and Adam quickly slides down the Pharaoh’s Secret Passage into the Dungeon, where he grabs the FEATHERED CROWN (0:39).

“He’s in the room! He’s got the crown!” shouts Kirk. Adam breaks down the stone wall with his head, and enters the Dark Forest. “He head-butted it!” Kirk narrates. “That’s one way to get it open!” He bolts through the room with the crown, passing into the Chamber of the Four Elements (0:30). “All the doors are open—will he make it out?” Kirk asks. The camera shows Taylor, jumping up and down and clapping excitedly. “Come on!” she shouts. As the camera cuts back to Adam, he is seen emerging from the Owl’s Nest into the Bottomless Pit (0:24). He enters the Ledges through the bottom crawl tube and crawls through, making it back through the gate with seventeen seconds to spare.

“He did it!” Kirk shouts as Adam holds up the Feathered Crown and Taylor jumps up and down excitedly. “They did it! Taylor cleared out a path, and Adam did the rest! They got the Crown, and got out—they got the sports package; they got the Xboxes; they’re goin’ to Waikiki—I wanna go to Waikiki!” Kirk puts his hand on Adam’s shoulder as Taylor hugs Kirk’s side. “This is great! They deserve this, lemme tell ya! What an awesome team, and an awesome win for ‘em! But unfortunately, we’ve gotta get out of here—if I was in charge, we’d never leave! We’ll see ya next time, but just remember: it’s not just Legends, it’s Legends: Rebirth! Buh-bye, everybody!”

Kirk, Adam and Taylor chat, and Kirk and Adam hold the Feathered Crown up to the camera as the credits roll. Close-ups are seen of the Lookout Tower and the Geographer’s Study in the Temple. Kirk rubs Adam’s helmet, and Adam and Taylor are seen laughing as the Stone Stanley logo appears onscreen.

The Feathered Crown of Nezahualcoyotl
Season 1, Layout 2
Artifact Location
: The Dungeon
Team: Orange Iguanas (Taylor Irvine & Adam Rockwell)
Pendants: 1½
Result: Escaped! (0:18 left)

This could well be the best episode since the Rebirth of Legends. A detailed, imaginative legend, strong teams, exciting Temple Games—and most importantly of all, an awesome Temple Run.

Taylor was a fast, intelligent player. She clearly knew what to do in each room she entered (an impressive feat, since she was the first person to enter and complete the objectives of both the Lookout Tower and the Geographer’s Study). She made great time before being taken out in the Inventor’s Workshop with 1:44 left.

Adam was one of the best contestants I’ve ever seen on the show. He raced through Taylor’s cleared-out path, put the silver monkey together in a not-too-shabby twenty seconds, and shouted the correct password. He must have had grease on his shirt or something, because he slid down the Pharaoh’s Secret Passage in what must be record time. He grabbed the Feathered Crown with 39 seconds left on the clock, and broke down the wall into the Dark Forest WITH HIS HEAD. He made it out with eighteen seconds to spare, and scored the first Orange Iguanas victory since Rebirth’s premiere. Not a bad episode, if I do say so myself…

Rating: 9.5 out of 10

Notes and Trivia: As you can see during the Moat and the Steps of Knowledge, this episode has no audience—the only time a Layout 2 episode doesn’t have one, in fact.

Adam entered every room in the Temple—a feat that has not been accomplished since “The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen”.

This episode featured perhaps the most humorous destruction of the breakaway wall between the Dungeon and the Dark Forest of all time—Adam broke down the wall with his head! Kirk is even seen rubbing his helmet as the credits roll.

As Adam passes through the Chamber of the Four Elements, you can see a picture of the element tiles above where they should go. They’re a lot larger, too. This leads me to believe that, following the trouble some contestants have had in the past, the objective for the Chamber has been changed. We’ll see how in the future…
