Title: Legends: Rebirth-The Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng
Post by: The Bandit King on January 22, 2010, 06:58:44 PM
Episode 29: The Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng

The camera winds and twists its way through a thick jungle of strange and exotic plants. After a few wrong turns, it finally stops in front of an ancient Mayan temple. At the base of the temple, a giant stone head sits. Suddenly, the head’s eyes light up and it begins to speak:

Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth!” These words appear on the screen. “With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!”

A middle-aged man wearing a denim shirt and blue jeans swings in on a rope. He drops down and runs up the Steps of Knowledge, microphone in hand.

“Thank you! Thank you, everybody! Nice to see everyone again! It’s good to see you again, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth. The rooms are filled with lost treasures protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legends behind each of these newly discovered treasures in his temple…which one are we gonna hear about today, Olmec?”

“The legend of the Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng,” Olmec replies.

“Oh, the Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng,” Kirk replies. “Well, the legend’s set, and one of these six teams will have a chance to retrieve the lost pages—will it be:

“The Red Jaguars?” The camera zooms in on each team as they are introduced.
“The Blue Barracudas?
“The Green Monkeys?
“The Orange Iguanas?
“The Purple Parrots?
“Or the Silver Snakes?

“They’ll have to pass a few tough physical and mental tests, but when it’s all said and done, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec’s Temple. But first they have to cross the Moat, and Olmec will tell us how they’ll have to do that today…”

Olmec begins to explain the Moat Crossing:
“Before you stands an abandoned fishing net, and beside it, an old vine. When Kirk gives the signal, one player from each team will grab the vine and swing out to the net, grab onto it, and begin climbing. Once you reach the top, drop down and dash to the other side. Once you’re safely across, it’ll be your partner’s turn to cross in the same way. If you touch the water before you grab onto the net, you must go back and start again. Once both players reach the other side, run over and hit the gong.” Kirk hits the Silver Snakes’ gong to demonstrate. “The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round!”

“All right, let’s get started,” Kirk says. “Teams, are you all ready?”
All six teams scream and cheer in response.
“Olmec, are you ready?”
“Ooohh yeah,” Olmec replies.
“All right then,” says Kirk. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

All six teams’ first members grab the vine and swing out to the large net. Everyone grabs onto it except the Orange Iguanas’ girl, who goes back to try again. The other five players begin climbing, and most are about halfway up when the Orange Iguanas’ girl latches onto the net after her second swing. The Silver Snakes’ boy reaches the top first, and swings over the top of the net, climbing down a few feet before dropping into the water. The Blue Barracudas’ boy reaches the top next, followed by the Green Monkeys’ girl and the Red Jaguars’ boy. The Silver Snakes’ girl grabs the net on her first swing, and begins climbing. The Orange Iguanas’ girl appears to be hung on the net near the top as the Purple Parrots’ girl falls off, prompting her to be sent back. The other four team members have made it across, and their partners grab the vine and swing out to the net. All four grab the net except the Red Jaguars’ girl, who slips off the vine and has to go back. “No one’s across yet, but these teams look determined—oh, the Silver Snakes could be first here!” Kirk says. The Silver Snakes’ girl reaches the top, where she drops down and races to the other side, where she is helped out of the water by her partner, and they hit the gong together. As the Orange Iguanas’ girl finally reaches the top of the net, the Red Jaguars’ girl grabs onto the net after swinging out to it a second time, and begins to climb. The Purple Parrots’ girl has finally reached the top of the net, and she drops to the other side, where she begins to trudge the rest of the way across the Moat. The Green Monkeys’ boy has made it to the other side, and runs over to hit his team’s gong. Soon afterward, the Blue Barracudas’ girl drops down after a slow climb down, and rushes across the rest of the Moat, where she’s helped out by her partner to hit the gong. “Three teams are across; we need one more!” Kirk narrates. The Purple Parrots’ boy is almost to the top, but the Red Jaguars’ girl has now dropped off the net, where she is helped out of the Moat by her partner. She rushes over to hit her team’s gong to end the Moat crossing.

“That’s it—there’s our four teams right there!” Kirk shouts as he rushes over to stand beside the Silver Snakes. “Silver Snakes did great; they were the first across, and goin’ on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Silver Snakes…and the Green Monkeys…” Kirk briefly pauses between each team’s name to allow applause. “And the Blue Barracudas…and the Red Jaguars! The Orange Iguanas and the Purple Parrots didn’t quite make it, but we’ve got a great gift for them for trying, and here’s what it is!” They receive a $50 gift certificate from FYE.

Kirk and the four remaining teams are now standing atop the Steps of Knowledge. “As the quest continues, it’s now time for Olmec to tell us about these Lost Pages of Yì J?n J?ng. But pay attention, teams, because your knowledge of the legend could bring you a step closer to Olmec’s Temple…”

Olmec begins to tell the story:
“One of the most sacred institutions in history is the Shaolin Temple in China. It was founded in 477 A.D. by a Buddhist monk from southern India. The Temple houses many monks who practice the ancient art of Shaolin Kung fu, a style of martial arts whose origins are shrouded in mystery. Bodhidharma, another Buddhist monk from India, is said to have been the creator of Shaolin. No one is sure where Bodhidharma came from—some say that he just showed up one day in a village near where the Shaolin Temple was located. He took refuge in the Temple, and trained with the monks there. But soon, Bodhidharma became disenchanted with them.
“‘These monks have no idea how to defend themselves. They just study their teachings, day in and day out. They’re getting so weak that a strong wind could blow them over!’
“So Bodhidharma thought of what he could do about it. Legend has it that he shut himself in a room, where he stared at the wall for nine years, deep in thought. The other monks grew concerned, and tried to convince him to abandon his post.
“‘You haven’t eaten in two weeks, Bo,’ said one monk.
“‘You’re wasting away,’ said another. ‘At least come with us to Beijing Burger or something!’
“‘Shut up, pipsqueaks!’ growled Bodhidharma. ‘Can’t you see I’m thinking? Hmm…wait a second!’
“Bodhidharma got up from his position—slowly, as his legs hadn’t been used in nine years—and began to write. In only a few days, he had developed two books on exercise, self-defense, and meditation, one of which was the Yì J?n J?ng. This mystical book contained numerous muscle exercises and rigorous defense tactics, which the monks learned by heart within several years. As a result, they became tactful, skilled masters of kung fu, which they remain to this day. However, after years of repeated use, the original Yì J?n J?ng became old and worn, and a second copy of it had to be written. The old book was thrown away and soon lost—all except a stack of torn pages from it, which have found their way to the Temple. Your quest is to find the Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng and bring them back here.”

“Thanks a lot, Olmec,” says Kirk. “So tell us, where are the Lost Pages?”

“The Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng can be found in the Dark Forest,” Olmec replies. The camera zooms in on the torn pages on the central golden door at the back of the room, and then cuts back to Kirk.

“Ooooh,” Kirk says. “All right, teams, you’re now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a moment, Olmec’s gonna ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you’re right, you can move down to the next level, but if you’re wrong or you run out of time, I’m gonna give the other teams a chance to answer.” Kirk begins descending the Steps. “The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec’s Temple. Olmec…we’re now ready for your first question.”

Olmec begins:
“Is the Shaolin Temple located in: China, Japan, or Russia?”
The Green Monkeys ring in. “China?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Green Monkeys step down to the next level.
“Green Monkeys step down,” Kirk narrates. “Next question, Olmec.”

“Was the Shaolin Temple founded by: Christian missionaries, Buddhist monks, or Islamic prophets?”
The Green Monkeys ring in again. “Buddhist monks.”
“That is correct,” Olmec responds. The Green Monkeys proceed to the penultimate step.
“Whoo—just like that, the Green Monkeys are only one step away from the Temple Games!” Kirk remarks. “But remember, we need two teams. Next question, Olmec.”

“Were the monks who founded the Temple from: India, Bangladesh, or South Korea?”
The Silver Snakes ring in. “Uh…India.”
“Uh…that’s correct,” Olmec says, mimicking how the team answered. The Silver Snakes step to the second step.
“Nice job, Silver Snakes; they’ll step down now,” Kirk narrates. “Still plenty of time for everybody—next question, Olmec.”

“Who supposedly created Shaolin Kung fu: Boadicea, Bodhidharma, or Botticelli?”
The Green Monkeys ring in. “Body…dharma?”
“That…is CORRECT!” Olmec booms. The Green Monkeys leap to the bottom and high-ten one another.
“And the Green Monkeys are going to the Temple Games!” Kirk exclaims. “We still need one more team. Who’s it gonna be—the Red Jaguars, the Blue Barracudas, or the Silver Snakes? Olmec, continue, please…”

“Did Bodhidharma try to: nourish the monks, strengthen the monks, or educate the monks?”
The Silver Snakes ring in. “Steng—strengthen the monks!”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Silver Snakes advance to the next-to-last step.
“And the Silver Snakes are just one step away now,” Kirk narrates. “Still plenty of time for the other two teams to catch up, though. Olmec, next question.”

“According to our legend, how long did Bodhidharma stare at the temple’s wall: nine months—”
The Silver Snakes ring in. “Nine years!”
“That…is…correct!” Olmec replies. The Silver Snakes join the Green Monkeys on the bottom step.

“And just like that, there’s our two teams!” Kirk says as he rushes onscreen to join them. “It’s the Green Monkeys, and the Silver Snakes! Blue Barracudas and Red Jaguars, come on down here, guys. You guys did great, too, and we’re not sending you guys empty-handed…home empty-handed. We’ve got a great gift for you, and here’s what it is!” They receive Drawn to Life for the Nintendo DS Lite.

Kirk is now standing between the Green Monkeys and the Silver Snakes. “These two teams are playing for the rights to enter Olmec’s Temple. Who’s gonna make it? Find out right after this!”

The camera flies over Kirk and then veers to the right, zooming in on one of the giant Pendant-shaped wheels used in the Temple Games as the title appears onscreen, and we fade to a commercial.

We return from the break, and see Kirk standing in front of the Temple with the two remaining teams on either side of him.

“Welcome back to Legends: Rebirth,” he says. “Now’s when the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, but before we get started, let’s meet our two teams.

“On the Green Monkeys, we have Alisha—she plays soccer and does gymnastics, and she also likes to collect stuffed animals. And her partner here is Pablo—he enjoys rollerblading, and he wants to be a veterinarian when he gets older—let’s hear it for the Green Monkeys!” The audience applauds for the tall African-American girl with long, frizzy brown hair and the equally tall Latino boy with short black hair.

“And over on the Silver Snakes, we have Sarah—she’s into basketball and volleyball and she wants to be a lawyer. And her partner, Brendan, says he also likes to play basketball, and he’s originally from Memphis, Tennessee—how ‘bout a hand for the Silver Snakes!” The audience claps for the short girl with green eyes and long black hair and the slightly taller freckled boy with brown hair and blue eyes.

“All right, guys, are you ready?” Kirk asks the two teams.

“Yeah!” they reply.

“All right, then, go get ready for the Temple Games. Now, in the Temple Games, our teams are competing for…” Kirk retrieves a Pendant of Life from his pouch and holds it up to the camera. “…Pendants of Life. The winning teams is gonna need those Pendants for protection from those nasty Temple Guards that reside inside Olmec’s Temple. There are three Temple Games—Olmec, please explain the first one, if you would…”

“Wouldn’t I?” replies Olmec. The black lights under him come on and he begins to explain the first game:

“To think about how he could help the monks defend themselves, Bodhidharma shut himself in a room, where he stared at the wall for nine years. In this game, you don’t have to wait for nine years—only a few seconds. When Kirk gives the signal, adjust your weight and begin running to turn the giant wheel you’re standing on. When you make one rotation, it symbolizes one year that Bodhidharma stared at the temple wall. The first player to make nine complete rotations, or…the player who makes the most rotations at the end of thirty seconds…wins.”

“Wheels turning round and round…who’s gonna come out on top?” Kirk asks. “Let’s find out…set the clock for thirty seconds!” The clock slams down in the bottom right-hand corner with a loud gong sound. “Players need to get adjusted here…on your mark, get set, GO!”

Alisha and Sarah are both about the same speed, and both players are good about balancing themselves on the giant Pendant-shaped wheels. With about 13 seconds left, though, Sarah falls off, and Alisha pulls slightly ahead while she climbs back on. Sarah hurries to catch up, but Alisha is ahead by one rotation when the clock runs out.

“Okay, that’s it!” exclaims Kirk as he rushes back onscreen. “Come on down here, you two—whoa, I know you’re dizzy; let’s see how you did.” Kirk glances back at the scorecards. “It looks like the Green Monkeys ran around the wheel eight times, and…the Silver Snakes did it seven times! That gives the Green Monkeys the half Pendant of Life!” The audience applauds for a few seconds. “Don’t worry, because the Silver Snakes can catch up in this next Temple Game. It’s also worth a half Pendant—Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #2…”

Olmec begins:
“The Shaolin monks trained every day from the Yì J?n J?ng until they learned all the exercises by heart, and as a result, became strong and agile. You will also need the agility of a Shaolin monk to win this game. When Kirk gives the signal, roll your boulder toward your opponents’ targets and attempt to knock them down. You may block your opponents’ boulders, but if you cross into your opponents’ territory, one of your opponents’ targets will be set back up. The first team to knock down all four targets or…the team that knocks over the most targets at the end of sixty seconds…wins.”

“All right, it’s a game of strategy here,” remarks Kirk. “Put sixty seconds on the clock, please!” The clock slams down in the corner, ready to go. “All right, get in position—on your mark, get set, GO!”

Pablo and Brendan both block each other’s boulders until about fifteen seconds into the game, when Pablo knocks one of Brendan’s targets over. Brendan knocks over one of Pablo’s targets about six seconds later. Pablo knocks over another target with 31 seconds left, but Brendan knocks down another one of his with 26 seconds to go. They both successfully block one another’s advances until Pablo knocks over another target with five seconds remaining. Brendan can’t catch up by the time the game ends.

“Okay, that’s it!” Kirk shouts as he appears back onscreen. “Come over here guys, you guys did great—that was really close; when one got one, the other got one. Let’s count it up and see how we did.” Kirk looks over at the Green Monkeys’ targets first. “The Green Monkeys knocked over three targets, and…the Silver Snakes knocked over two targets, so the Green Monkeys get another half Pendant of Life!” Kirk pauses to allow the audience to applaud. “So now, the Green Monkeys are ahead, one Pendant to nothing. Now, we go to the third and final Temple Game. It’s worth a full Pendant of Life—Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #3…”

Olmec begins to explain the final Game:
“Once the monks became skilled at the art of Shaolin Kung fu, they successfully defended themselves and their temple from many attacks by Chinese barbarians. In this game, you’ll be helping the monks defend their temple. Before you stands a horde of Chinese rebels. When Kirk gives the signal, load your slingshot and shoot a ball at one of the rebels. Then, your partner will load the slingshot. The first team to knock over all four rebels, or…the team that knocks over the most rebels at the end of sixty seconds wins!”

“It’s a fight to the finish,” says Kirk. “So let’s get started—put sixty seconds on the clock please!” The clock slams down in the corner with the usual sound effect. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

The Green Monkeys knock down a target on their first shot, but the Silver Snakes only wobble one of theirs. About five seconds later, the Green Monkeys knock another target over as the Silver Snakes blast their first target down. With about 40 seconds left, the Silver Snakes knock over a second target. Neither team manages to knock over any of their targets for a while, and numerous cannonballs go flying into the Temple. The Green Monkeys knock over their third target with about three seconds left, and the Silver Snakes cannot catch up when time runs out.

“Okay, stop shooting!” Kirk shouts as he rushes back and stands between the teams. “Boy, that was some serious shooting there! Let’s see how we did…looks like the Green Monkeys got three targets; the Silver Snakes got two targets; that gives the Green Monkeys the full Pendant. That gives them two, the Silver Snakes didn’t get any—the Green Monkeys are goin’ to the Temple!” Alisha jumps up and down in excitement as Pablo claps and cheers. “Nice job, guys! Silver Snakes, you guys did a great job, too; you were up against a tough team. We’ve got a great gift for you, and here’s what it is!” They receive a package of Nintendo Wii games, including World of Zoo.

As the prize disappears off-screen, we see Kirk standing beside the winning team. “Now, we’ll see if the Green Monkeys can make it through Olmec’s Temple; retrieve the Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng, and we’ll see right after this!”

The camera cuts to the outer edge of the Dark Forest and zooms in on one of the tree’s “faces” as the title appears onscreen, and we fade to a commercial.

We return from the break to find Kirk standing in front of the Temple with the winning team.

“Welcome back to Legends: Rebirth,” he says. “The Green Monkeys have proven themselves worthy, and have now earned the right to enter Olmec’s Temple. But first, Olmec’s gonna give them some information to help them retrieve the Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng…”

Olmec begins to explain the layout as the camera gives us a first-person tour of the Temple:
“You could start…by running up the stairs to the Crypt! Grab the book from the skeletons, and pass into the Rope Labyrinth! Maneuver through the ropes, and climb into the Sculptor’s Studio. Smash the hollow sculptures to find the key that will lead you into the Chamber…of the Sacred Markers. Match the symbols on the right to those on the left, and pass into the Inventor’s Workshop. Spin the wheel to operate the machine, and open the door to the SHRIIIINE of the Silver Monkey! Assemble the statue and you may be headed toward the Room…of the Secret Password. Find the tablet with the correct inscription and shout it out to open the door to the Pharaoh’s Secret Passage. Slide down the tunnel to the Dungeon, where you could smash through the wall into the Dark Forest…but beware of the Temple Guards that may inhabit the trees! Find the key in the tree, and you’ll enter…the Ancient Cave. Press yourself against the correct cave painting, and you’ll gain entry to the Owl’s Nest! Find the special white owl, and attach it to its proper nest, then…crawl through the Labyrinth, climb through the Ledges, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate! The choices are yours and yours alone!” Olmec pauses. “You won 2 Pendants in the Temple Games. Who’s going first?”

“I am,” says Alisha.

“Very well, Alisha,” Olmec replies. “When Kirk gives the signal, you’ll race through the gate into the Temple and make your way toward the Lost Pages. Hidden inside the Temple are Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but…if you’re caught without a Pendant, you’ll be taken out of the Temple, and it’ll be Pablo’s turn to enter and try his luck. If you can reach the Lost Pages, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. Return through the gates with the Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng in three minutes, and you’ll both be handsomely rewarded—and here’s how!”

• Just for making it this far, they’ll get a Magnavox stereo system.
• If they can reach the Lost Pages within three minutes, they’ll also receive an Xbox 360, complete with three new games.
• And if they can bring the Lost Pages out of the Temple before three minutes expires, they’ll win a trip to historic Boston, Massachusetts.

“All right, let’s see if they can win that trip to Boston,” says Kirk. “Mouthpieces in, everyone, let’s get ready—let’s set the clock for three minutes!” The clock slams down in the bottom right-hand corner with a loud gong sound effect.

“Olmec, lower your gate.” Olmec moans gutturally as the gate is lowered, and the black lights under him go out.

“Looks like Alisha’s ready,” Kirk remarks as Alisha stands in a starting position. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

Alisha darts up the steps, clutching her Pendant. We see her slide down into the Ledges (2:56) and begin crawling through the rocky outcroppings. She heads downward, eventually finding her way under one of the outcroppings, with no access to the crawl tubes (2:50). “Oh, you don’t wanna go in there; you wanna go up a little bit,” a Kirk voice-over comments. Alisha finds her way out of the extension and hits the actuator for the lower crawl tube; however, it doesn’t open. She climbs all the way to the top and hits the actuator for the Crypt, which opens (2:40). “All right—into the Crypt!” Kirk narrates. Alisha rushes to the back of the room and pulls the book from the leftmost skeleton, opening the door to the Rope Labyrinth (2:34). “She’s gotta—no, that’s the right one!” Kirk comments as Alisha enters the Labyrinth and starts climbing through the ropes. She makes it to the other side of the room, where she hits the actuator for the Sculptor’s Studio, but the door doesn’t open (2:26). Alisha climbs down to the bottom, completely bypassing the actuator for the Chamber of the Sacred Markers, and drops to the bottom of the room, where she makes a beeline for the Owl’s Nest actuator. The door opens, and Alisha enters the room, but the first TEMPLE GUARD jumps out from behind one of the nests before she can do anything (2:14). “Oh, she met a Temple Guard!” Kirk shouts as Alisha reaches for her Pendant. “Give him the Pendant—that’s it!” Alisha looks around for a second or two before she finds the white owl in a pile of owls at the front of the room (2:05). She places it on the nearest nest, but nothing happens. She tries the nest next to it, and the doors to both the Chamber and the Ancient Cave open (1:59).

“She’s got it—now where’s she headed?” Kirk asks as Alisha enters the Ancient Cave. “There she goes—into the Ancient Cave with two minutes to go!” Alisha heads to the back of the room and presses her body against one of the stage-left “cavemen” painted on the wall, hitting the two actuators on the painting’s hands in the process, but nothing happens. She tries the other stage-left painting, but again, nothing happens. “Neither one of those works—try the other two!” Kirk suggests. Alisha does so, going to the other side of the room and hitting the actuators on the cavemen’s hands, but neither one of the paintings open any doors (1:29). “Oh, she’s stuck in the Ancient Cave—she’ll have to go back!” Kirk commentates. Alisha looks around for a second before she hurriedly makes her way back to the Owl’s Nest, where she sees the open door leading up to the Chamber. With a noticeable “duh!” look on her face, she begins climbing the ladder to the Chamber. The second Alisha steps off the ladder into the room, the second TEMPLE GUARD ambushes her (1:06).

“Oh, second Temple Guard! Go, Pablo!” Kirk shouts as Pablo takes off. He heads up to the Crypt, and from there, follows Alisha’s path until he gets to the Owl’s Nest, where he immediately climbs the ladder up to the Chamber. When he enters the room (0:51), he goes to work looking for the missing tiles, one of which he finds on the stage-left wall (0:47). He finds the other two on the stage-right wall before he gets to work placing them in their correct slots, which he soon does, opening the door to the Inventor’s Workshop (0:33). “They’re all in place—now into the Inventor’s Workshop!” Kirk narrates. “Only thirty seconds left—can he reach the Lost Pages?” Pablo rushes to the capstan in the center of the room, and after a little difficulty getting it moving, starts turning it. The camera cuts to Alisha clapping. “Come on, Pablo!” she shouts. After Pablo makes four complete rotations of the capstan, the door to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey opens (0:14). “All right—into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey with twelve seconds left!” Kirk narrates. “He’s right over the Lost Pages—can he do it?” Kirk adds as his voice switches to live-action. As the audience counts down the final ten seconds, Pablo heads to the back of the room and grabs the three pieces of the monkey statue (0:05!). He places the base and is just starting to place the middle as time expires.

Nooo!” Kirk laments. “He was so close! He was putting the monkey together, and he was right on top of the Lost Pages! If only he had a few more seconds…but that’s all right, because they still get the stereo system for playing anyway, and they leave with their heads held high. This team was great—great all day; I know they had a great time! We’ve gotta get out of here, but we’ll see ya again next time on Legends: Rebirth! Buh-bye!”

Kirk and Alisha wave to the crowd as the credits begin to roll. Plant life all over the set is seen, as well as a group of rubber lizards near the Moat. Pablo emerges from the Temple as the credits draw to an end, and the Stone Stanley logo appears onscreen.

The Lost Pages of the Yì J?n J?ng
Season 1, Layout 4
Artifact Location
: The Dark Forest
Team: Green Monkeys (Alisha Fox & Pablo Colon)
Pendants: 2
Result: Ran out of time

This run started out so well, but it went downhill fast. Both players seemed like strong, competitive kids that truly deserved to have made it as far as they did. But the oh-so-maligned dead end cost them any chances of victory.

Alisha was one of the faster, more intelligent contestants of the first season of Rebirth. She got caught up a bit in the Ledges, but she made good time up until the Owl’s Nest, where she took the beguilingly enticing path into the Ancient Cave. When no doors opened after she tried all four cave paintings, she backtracked, and actually made decent time before being taken out in the Chamber of the Sacred Markers with just over a minute to spare.

Pablo was quite the speed demon—he zoomed through the rooms Alisha cleared out, and even completed the objective for the Inventor’s Workshop. Time ran out as he was putting the monkey together.

If Alisha hadn’t taken the dead end into the Ancient Cave, this could very well have been a victory. But unfortunately, this great team was done in by a deceptive Temple Layout.

Rating: 6.5 out of 10

Notes and Trivia: This episode features the most time-consuming dead end of Rebirth’s tenure—Alisha spent 32 seconds in the Ancient Cave before backtracking to the Owl’s Nest.

This Temple Run features a Kirk voice-over for the majority of it. It changes back to a live Kirk when Pablo enters the Shrine.

This episode does not feature Kirk’s trademark “It’s not just Legends, it’s Legends: Rebirth” quote at the end of the show—one of only three episodes that do so.
