[The Red Jaguars]

Golden Jaguar was a great episode indeed! To start it off, we have the worst moat on the entire first season that was both bland and really long. Unlike the other moats that day (*cough Silver Saddle Horn cough*), this moat was okay but uneventful. The legend was one of my favorite parts of this episode. The "fill one room full of gold and two rooms full of silver" is a very memorable line for me. I clearly remember learning that throughout grade school and the Inca Empire was also interesting too. Plus, the Golden Jaguar was one of the best artifacts of Season 1!  The temple games featured a nice sequence for Season 1, and contained some uncommon games like the belly sliding and the pyramid climbing game. The first two games were close and belonged to the Purple Parrots, but the Blue Barracudas dominated the team game while Kelly sucked in the team game. The episode came down to the last tiebreaker of Season 1, with Tracy answering it correctly to complete the come behind victory to give the Barracudas a chance at the temple!

The temple run was very exciting and quirky at the same time. Chris getting duped by the Cave of Sighs entrance was a classic moment for sure. Unfortunately, he also made a wrong turn into the Heart Room that killed his team's chance at a solo win AND he got taken out one room away. Luckily, Tracy was a solid second runner and she did a great job reaching where he left off AND grabbing the Jaguar. Much better than Rinette or Jessica from Fountain of Youth. Too bad this team didn't win, but it was a good effort. Overall, I am glad to see that this episode got close to the score I got! It was definitely an exciting, memorable, and quirky episode all the way through. It is also one of the few great Season 1 episodes on the show. Sir Edmund Hillary and Great Seal are the only losses from Season 1 to rank a 7+ higher. I am glad that you liked Golden Jaguar because it is one of my personal favorites too.

If there is one episode I want to rank next, it is Johnny Appleseed. One of the few Iguanas episodes I like and featured some pretty good rounds (minus the moat) from start to finish.

But I thought Mush Pot Hat actually HAD a halfway decent moat? It was the other episodes that day that had the long rounds. Either way, I look forward to your take on that episode, since it was one of the few decent Orange Iguana episodes. And yeah, Golden Jaguar was a great episode. It was one of my favorite Season 1 losses behind Sir Edmund Hilary, Great Seal, etc. So now all I have left to do is update my Blue/Purple stats on the previous page. Which should be easy.

Awesome, can't wait! As for me, I'm gonna focus more on the color combination stats. We've already got two match ups recorded, we just need to get the others down. And I think I'll use our original post to copy and paste everything. Also, should we do the color combination stats for the Steps of Knowledge as well? That might be a bit much though, and it's pretty much the same as the temple game ones. But it's up to you.

Alright, I have finally cut and pasted everything to my original review right here. This was one of the better Orange Iguana episodes in my opinion. The moat on that day was the ONLY moat that didn't take too long, and all the mist stayed on tact! Why couldn't more of those moats be like that? I liked the legend too, very interesting, albeit not as detailed. The Steps were close, especially since Olmec let three answers slide. I liked the temple games too, it was almost a 2-2 pendant tie! But in the end, the Orange Iguanas won. The temple run was a solid effort by Chris and Angela. They probably would've won if Angela didn't hesitate so much. Oh well, they still reached the artifact nonetheless. This run reminded me a lot like Sir Edmund Hilary, only I felt like this layout was harder. Plus, I sort of like Sir Edmund Hilary just a little bit more.

Overall, your review was very well written, and you got a MUCH higher score than me! Looking back, I definitely would've given the Steps, temple games, and temple run a higher score. I might actually tweak my score. Just so our scores are closer together, and have more consistency.

As for me, I think I'm gonna rewrite King Tut next. Either that or Cracked Crown, the latter which was filmed right after Mush Pot Hat. I know it's a terrible episode, and I've only seen it three times, but I remember so much about it, it's memorable but in a bad way. Which one do you think I should rewrite next? And I'm gonna get started on the SOK color combination stats soon too. Either that or more temple game color combination stats. I think I'm gonna take on Blue/Orange next. Since it's the shortest, and it will save you the time of posting the Blue vs. other team stats. But that bit can wait until tomorrow.

Thanks for doing that. And Mush Pot Hat is indeed one of the better Orange Iguanas episodes on the show, and it was a great watch from beginning to end. Every round has something interesting like the quick moat, the close SoK where Olmec allowed 3 answers, the very close temple games, and the exciting temple run. And this layout always reminds me of Sir Edmund Hillary also. Except that I felt Danny and Tara's path was slightly harder because they didn't have a solo chance like the Mush Pot Hat team. And the Well/Mine Shaft screwed both teams in their runs. But yeah, our scores are pretty far apart compared to other reviews. But I think your scores are fine. I was just a little more generous with rating some of the rounds. IMO, I do think your temple run score is a little low. Other than that, they are all ranked pretty high.

I actually enjoyed revisiting this episode. I will eventually rewrite all the ones that you covered but I didn't. I think I will choose Leonardo Da Vinci next. That one should be easy to rewrite because I will give every round a 1. Just kidding, it would get a serious review. I would love to see you rank Cracked Crown next too. I would never expect you to choose that one since it is awful as Golden Cricket Cage and Snow Cone.

I totally forgot that Mush Pot Hat could've been a solo win if Chris didn't enter the Crypt. Sir Edmund Hilary definitely had no chance at being a solo victory. Plus, Chris lasted a much shorter time in the temple than Danny did in Sir Edmund Hilary. So the latter run was harder in that sense. Regardless, Mush Pot Hat is still one of the better Orange Iguana episodes. As for my scores, I think I'll change the temple run score. I feel like "6" was a little too low, and if I bump it to a "7" I should at least push my score up to the low 7 range. But yeah, I did rank most of the rounds high, and one of the rounds (I think it was the moat) got an "8," so that helps quite a bit.

And I can't wait for your rewrite on the Paintbrush episode. You're definitely gonna have a lot to look forward to. Four way tie on the steps, interesting temple games, and of course the spectacular artifact the rare Blue/Orange pair in the temple games. I might even rewrite Stone Marker somewhere down the road too. The only reason I wanted to do Cracked Crown next is because it was right after Mush Pot Hat, and I remember a lot of details about it. But if you're gonna cover Paintbrush next, then I'll cover Stone Marker next, then Cracked Crown. The former episode I definitely don't look forward to, for obvious reasons. Heh I kid of course.

As much as I hate Cracked Crown, I will admit that it is no where as bad as Golden Cricket Cage, Bifocal Monocle, or Snow Cone. The only real bad rounds were the really long moat and the poor temple run. And even then, the temple run is not even the worst run on its day (Stone Head is worse). It is definitely an eventful episode and it had some redeeming qualities. I just hate it because I have seen it so many times.

Oh, and I'm gonna post the stats for Blue/Orange. Since it's the rarest on the show, and the Paintbrush episode had that pair. Maybe I'll work on some SOK color combination stats too. And you can rewrite your next episode whenever. We don't have to take turns in this thread. Didn't you want to rewrite Oracle Bowl at some point? Since it was filmed the same day the Paintbrush episode was?

Dead Man's Hand was done by me, so you're all clear to take that one. Melted Head would be an interesting one to cover too, and it's got the Nickelodeon screencaps in my review, which makes it look extra neat.

As for me, my list of episodes I want to cover next looks like this:

I finished all the Red pairs so far. Red/Purple actually ranks lower than Blue/Orange surprisingly. Mainly because most of the Season 2 episodes (except Blackfeet Chief) had awful ratings, along with Smashed Printing Plate. I am not sure if that will be the lowest one or there will be lower, but it does out do the ultra rare Blue/Orange. I am going to finish the rest of Blue later today since you help me with most of the Blue pairings. I will probably take Green pairings on another day since there are so many.

Also, I am half-way done with Leonardo Da Vinci. I should have it posted tonight or tomorrow. I am pretty sure I have a review for Emiliano Zapata I worked on but totally forgot to finish it. So maybe I can knock both of those out.

Yeah, all you need to do is Blue/Green and Blue/Silver, and that covers it for Blue vs. other teams. The Green vs./Orange vs./Purple vs. ones shouldn't take long either. I think I might cover some of those stats next. I'll probably do the Green vs. other teams next. It will save you all the time doing them, unless you really want to cover them.

And can't wait for your Leonardo Da Vinci rewrite. Which I assume is gonna get a solid 10 average. I would love to read your rewrite on Applewood Amulet too. That's an episode that REALLY needs more praise. That should rank in the high 8, if not low 9 range.
