Title: Legends: Rebirth-The Rudder from the HMS Endurance
Post by: The Bandit King on August 12, 2009, 09:40:29 AM
Episode 10: The Rudder from the HMS Endurance

The camera winds and twists its way through a thick jungle of strange and exotic plants. After a few wrong turns, it finally stops in front of an ancient Mayan temple. At the base of the temple, a giant stone head sits. Suddenly, the head’s eyes light up and it begins to speak:

Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth!” These words appear on the screen. “With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!”

A middle-aged man wearing a denim shirt and blue jeans swings in on a rope. He drops down and runs up the Steps of Knowledge, microphone in hand.

“Thank you! Thank you, everybody! Nice to see everyone again! It’s good to see you again, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth. The rooms are filled with lost treasures protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legends behind each of these newly discovered treasures in his Temple…which one are we gonna hear about today, Olmec?”

“The legend of the Rudder from the HMS Endurance,” Olmec replies.

“Ah, the Rudder from the HMS Endurance,” Kirk says. “Well, the legend is set, and one of these six teams will have a chance to retrieve the Rudder—will it be:

“The Red Jaguars?” The camera zooms in on each team as they are introduced.
“The Blue Barracudas?
“The Green Monkeys?
“The Orange Iguanas?
“The Purple Parrots?
“Or the Silver Snakes?

“They’ll have to pass some tough physical and mental tests, but in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter the Temple. But first, they’ll have to cross the Moat, and Olmec will tell us how they have to do it today…”

Olmec begins to explain the Moat Crossing:
“Before you, a long rope hangs into the Moat. When Kirk gives the signal, one player from each team will swim out to the rope, grab it, swim back with it, and swing across. Once you’re safely across, throw the rope to your partner, who will then swing across in the same way. If your feet touch the water while you’re swinging, you must go back and start again. Once both players reach the other side, run over and hit the gong.” Kirk hits the Silver Snakes’ gong to demonstrate. “The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round!”

“All right, let’s get swingin’,” Kirk says. “Hey teams, are you ready?”
All six teams scream and cheer in response.
“Olmec, are you ready?” Kirk asks.
“Bring it on, Fogg,” Olmec replies.
“Oh, I will,” Kirk laughs. “Teams ready, get set, GO!”

All six teams jump in the moat and grab the rope. The Orange Iguanas’ boy is first back, followed by the Silver Snakes’ boy, the Green Monkeys’ boy and the Blue Barracudas’ girl. The Red Jaguars’ girl climbs out about a second later, and the Purple Parrots’ girl about two seconds after her. The Blue Barracudas’ girl, Silver Snakes’ boy and Green Monkeys’ boy all make it across, but the Red Jaguars’ girl touches the water and has to go back. “It’s tough to keep from falling in,” narrates Kirk. The Purple Parrots’ girl and Orange Iguanas’ boy each swing across and throw the rope to their partner. The Silver Snakes’ girl touches the water on her first swing, and the spotters tell her to go back. Meanwhile, the Blue Barracudas and Green Monkeys get their second player across, and both hit their gong at the same time. About four seconds later, the Purple Parrots’ boy successfully swings across as well, and he hits his team’s gong. “Three teams have made it—only one spot left!” Kirk narrates. The Orange Iguanas’ girl touches the water on her first swing, but the Red Jaguars’ girl makes it across and throws the rope to her partner, only to have him fail to catch the rope. The Silver Snakes’ girl, however, finally makes it across, and she runs over to hit the gong.

“That’s it! We’ve got four teams!” Kirk exclaims as he runs over to stand beside the Silver Snakes. “They’re soaking wet, but they made it, and the Silver Snakes are going on to the Steps of Knowledge…along with the Purple Parrots,” Kirk pauses between each team’s name to allow for applause. “And the Green Monkeys, and the Blue Barracudas! The Red Jaguars and the Orange Iguanas didn’t quite make it, but we’ve got a nice gift for ‘em anyway!” They receive a $50 gift certificate from FYE.

Kirk and the remaining four teams are now standing atop the Steps of Knowledge. “As the quest continues, it’s time for Olmec to tell us about the Rudder from the HMS Endurance. But teams, pay attention to the legend, because your knowledge of it can bring you a step closer to Olmec’s Temple…”

Olmec begins to tell the story:
“One of the bravest explorers of all time was an Irishman named Ernest Shackleton. In 1916, he and his crew became the first people in history to successfully cross the continent of Antarctica—but it was not easy. Halfway across, a relentless floe of ice trapped Ernest, his crew, and their ship, the Endurance, preventing them from going any further. They spent the next four months stranded on the ice. Legend has it that when the food supply reached low levels, Ernest decided to take action.
“‘That’s it—ice or no ice, I’ve got to save this crew! Who’s with me?’”
A sound effect of a cricket chirping is heard.
“‘Don’t all jump up at once, guys…’
“Ernest and five of his men set out in a lifeboat for South Georgia Island, where there was a whaling station. The boat rocked and tossed in the freezing water, and chunks of ice battered the boat’s hull.
“‘Stand strong, boyos! We’re almost there!’
“Ernest and his men finally reached South Georgia Island. They borrowed a ship, and set out to retrieve the twenty-two men they had left back on the ice floe. Four months later, they finally reached them, and amazingly, everyone was still alive. Unfortunately, the Endurance had broken apart and sank. The only thing left of the giant ship was its massive rudder. Somehow, the rudder has found its way the Temple. Your quest is to find the Rudder from the HMS Endurance and bring it back here.”

“Thanks, Olmec,” Kirk says. “But tell us, where is the rudder?”

“The Rudder from the HMS Endurance can be found in the Dark Forest,” Olmec replies. The camera zooms in on the four-foot long wooden rudder propped up against the left-hand tree in the room before fading back to Kirk.

“Teams, you’re now standing on the Steps of Knowledge,” Kirk explains. “In a minute, Olmec’s gonna ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on that ancient marking in front of you. If you’re right, you can move down to the next level, but if you’re wrong or run out of time, I’m gonna give the other teams a chance.” Kirk begins descending the Steps. “The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec’s Temple. Olmec…we’re now ready for your first question.”

Olmec begins:
“Was Ernest Shackleton: Dutch, English, or Irish?”
The Green Monkeys ring in. “Irish?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Green Monkeys step down.
“Green Monkeys can step down,” Kirk narrates. “There’s still a lot more of the game to go, though—next question.”

“Was Ernest’s crew the first to cross: Africa—”
The Silver Snakes ring in. “Antarctica?”
“That is correct,” Olmec confirms. The Silver Snakes join the Green Monkeys on the second step.
“Now the Silver Snakes have one,” Kirk narrates. “Next question.”

“Were Ernest and his crew trapped by: a thunderstorm, a sea monster, or an ice floe?”
The Purple Parrots ring in. “Ice?”
“That…is correct,” Olmec slowly replies. The Purple Parrots step down.
“Purple Parrots now with one,” Kirk narrates. “Next question, please.”

“What was the name of Ernest’s ship: the Essence, the Endurance, or the Embodiment?”
After a few seconds, the Green Monkeys ring in. “The…Endurance?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Green Monkeys proceed to the next-to-last step.
“Now the Green Monkeys are only one step away from the Temple Games,” Kirk says. “But the other teams could still catch up. Next question, Olmec.”

“How long were Ernest and his crew trapped on the ice: four days, four weeks, or—”
The Purple Parrots ring in. “Four months?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Purple Parrots step down.
“Now the Purple Parrots are one step away, too,” Kirk states. “It’s still anybody’s game, though. Next question, please, Olmec.”

“Where was the whaling station that Ernest tried to reach: North Alabama Island, West Mississippi Island, or South Georgia Island?”
The Blue Barracudas ring in. “South Georgia Island?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Blue Barracudas step to the second step.
“Blue Barracudas finally get on the board,” Kirk narrates. “Next question.”

“How many of Ernest’s men died: four, seven, or—”
The Green Monkeys ring in. “None?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Green Monkeys jump to the bottom step.
“And we have our first team for the Temple Games—the Green Monkeys!” Kirk narrates. “We need one more team. Who’s it gonna be—the Blue Barracudas, the Silver Snakes, or the Purple Parrots? We’ll find out soon enough…next question, please.”

“Is Antarctica: a continent, a country, or a territory?”
The Purple Parrots ring in. “A country?”
“Incorrect,” Olmec replies.
The Blue Barracudas ring in. “A continent.”
“That is correct,” Olmec says. The Blue Barracudas descend to the next-to-last step.
“Now the Blue Barracudas are only one step away,” Kirk narrates. “But the Silver Snakes could still catch up. Next question, Olmec.”

“Which of these large flightless birds is native to Antarctica—”
The Purple Parrots ring in. “Penguins!”
“You must be more specific than that,” Olmec warns.
The Purple Parrots stand silent with their mouths open, and the boy shakes his head slowly.
“Incorrect,” Olmec finally says. “The three choices are: the Magistrate Penguin, the Emperor Penguin, or the Prime Minister Penguin?”
The Blue Barracudas ring in. “Emperor Penguin?”
“That…is correct!” Olmec booms. The Blue Barracudas jump to the bottom step.

“We’ve got our two teams goin’ on to the Temple Games!” Kirk shouts as he runs to stand between the two advancing teams. “It’s the Blue Barracudas, and the Green Monkeys! Silver Snakes, Purple Parrots, come on down here, you guys.” The Purple Parrots’ girl looks like she’s about to cry. “It was all over the place; it was literally anybody’s game. You guys aren’t going home empty-handed at all. We’ve got a great gift for you guys, and here’s what it is!” They receive Pokémon Ranger for the Nintendo DS Lite.

“These two teams will be playing for the right to enter Olmec’s Temple, and they’ll do that right after this!” Kirk exclaims.

The camera runs along the side of the Temple and pans to the left, zooming in on a pile of fake rocks as the title appears onscreen, and we go to a commercial.

We return from the break and see Kirk standing in front of the Temple with one team on either side of him.

“Welcome back to Legends: Rebirth,” he says. “Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let’s meet our teams, what do ya say?

“On the Green Monkeys, we have Amy; she plays softball and she wants to be a pediatrician, and her partner is Samuel; he plays soccer and he also likes to work on cars with his dad—let’s hear it for the Green Monkeys!” The audience claps for the short girl with blue eyes and curly blonde hair and the tall, brown-eyed, brown-haired boy.

“And on the Blue Barracudas, we have Jennifer; she says she likes all kinds of sports, but especially basketball, and she also likes to cook, and her partner T.J. also likes to play basketball and he wants to be a lawyer—how ‘bout a round of applause for the basketball-playing Blue Barracudas?” The audience applauds for the tall, blue-eyed girl with her long auburn hair in a ponytail and the equally tall African-American boy with short black hair.

“All right, is everybody ready to play?” Kirk asks.

“Yeah!” they reply.

“Okay, man your battle stations! In these teams—games, our teams are competing for…” Kirk retrieves a Pendant of Life from his pouch and holds it up to the camera. “…Pendants of Life. The winning team will need the Pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through Olmec’s Temple. There are three Temple Games. Olmec, tell us about the first one, please…”

“Since you asked so nicely,” Olmec replies. The black lights under Olmec come on and he begins to explain the game:

“Before Ernest Shackleton set out for Antarctica on the Endurance, he had to pack enough food to last he and his crew for many months. You are about to help gather some food for Ernest’s voyage. When Kirk gives the signal, run around, grab a piece of food, come back, and place it in your bin. Then run back, grab another piece of food and do it again. The first player to retrieve all the food, or…the player who retrieves the most food at the end of thirty seconds…wins.”

“Something tells me Shackleton had to stockpile more food than this,” Kirk remarks. “Let’s put thirty seconds on the clock!” The clock appears, all set to go. “On your marks, get set, GO!”

Amy is fast, but she has a terrible time getting the rotating lever to lift her high enough to grab anything. Jennifer, in addition to being fast, is very consistent, and develops a better rhythm of jumping up to get the plastic food. Jennifer has noticeably more food by the time the clock reaches zero.

“Okay, that’s it!” Kirk shouts as he runs back onscreen. He stands between the two levers. “Everybody can stop spinning now…if they can stop! Let’s count it up, see how we did…” He kneels beside the bins. “Blue Barracudas got one, two, three, four, five, six pieces of food, and over on the Green Monkeys…let’s see, we have one, two, three, four pieces of food! That means the Green Monkeys get the half Pendant of Life!” The audience applauds. “The Blue Barracudas are ahead, but the Green Monkeys can still catch up and then some. This next game is also worth a half Pendant. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #2…”

Olmec begins:
“As Ernest and his crew rowed along on their way to South Georgia Island, they were constantly battered by chunks of ice. In this game, you may see what that’s like. When Kirk gives the signal, run out, grab one of the supplies, come back and place it in your bin. Then run back and grab the next one. Along the way, you must avoid the swinging chunks of ice—if you’re hit, you must go back and try again. The first player to retrieve all four supplies or…the player that retrieves the most supplies at the end of sixty seconds…wins.”

“Ice bowling,” Kirk remarks. “Let’s put sixty seconds on the clock!” The clock appears onscreen. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

Samuel and T.J. both retrieve their first supply, a small backpack, on the first try, and they both place it in their basket at about the same time. On his second trip, T.J. gets hit by the sandbag, but Samuel manages to avoid getting hit to bring back the second item, a shovel, with about 45 seconds to go. T.J. manages to get the small shovel on his third try, but Samuel gets hit with a sandbag. The teams go back and forth getting hit and retrieving items, but T.J. finally manages to bring back the last item, a piece of netting, with six seconds left on the clock.

“That’s it!” Kirk shouts as he runs back onscreen. “The Blue Barracudas got all their supplies first, so the Blue Barracudas get the half Pendant of Life!” The audience applauds. “So now, the Blue Barracudas have one full Pendant, the Green Monkeys don’t have any yet. Now, it’s time for the third and final Temple Game. It’s worth one whole Pendant of Life. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #3…”

Olmec begins to explain the final Temple Game:
“Once Ernest had gotten enough supplies from South Georgia Island, he turned around and sailed back to his crew. Fortunately for you, the voyage you’re about to make is considerably shorter. When Kirk gives the signal, propel your boat off the dock toward your destination. Once you reach it, climb out and load the supplies into the boat. When you finish, climb back in the boat, turn it around and sail back. The first team to step back onto the dock or…the team that’s further along at the end of sixty seconds…wins.”

“This is for the Temple,” Kirk remarks. “Sixty seconds on the clock, please!” The clock appears, all ready to go. “I’m gonna get out of the way here…on your mark, get set, GO! Bon voyage!”

Both teams push off the dock, running into one another in the process, but they both manage to reach the destination with about 30 seconds left. The Blue Barracudas quickly load up the shovel and rolled-up sleeping bag placed at the destination, but the Green Monkeys are quite slow in comparison. Amy and Samuel do successfully load up their supplies, though by this time, the Blue Barracudas are already about halfway back to the dock. They reach the dock with about seven seconds to spare.

“All right, that’s it!” Kirk shouts. He runs back onscreen and steps onto the dock beside Jennifer and T.J. “The Blue Barracudas successfully made it back first, and they get the half Pendant…or the full Pendant of Life! That means the Blue Barracudas have two Pendants, the Green Monkeys didn’t score—the Blue Barracudas are goin’ to the Temple!” Jennifer and T.J. hug one another as the Green Monkeys appear on the dock and congratulate them. “Great sportsmanship by the other team—that’s what I like! But these two aren’t goin’ home empty-handed. We have a great gift for ‘em, and here’s what it is!” They receive a tent from Outdoor Products.

As the prize disappears off-screen, Kirk is seen standing beside the winning team. “Now, we’ll see if the Blue Barracudas can make it through Olmec’s Temple and retrieve the Rudder from the HMS Endurance, and we’ll see right after this!”

The camera pans in on the Temple and zooms in on the Rudder as the title appears onscreen, and we fade to a commercial.
Title: Legends: Rebirth-The Rudder from the HMS Endurance
Post by: The Bandit King on August 12, 2009, 12:56:20 PM
We return from the break to find Kirk standing in front of the Temple with the winning team. “Welcome back to Legends: Rebirth,” he says. “Jennifer and T.J. have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec’s Temple. But first, Olmec’s gonna give ‘em some information to help them retrieve the Rudder from the HMS Endurance…”

Olmec begins to explain the layout as the camera gives us a first-person tour of the Temple:
“You could start…by running up the stairs to the Crypt! Grab the book from the skeletons, and pass into the Rope Labyrinth! Maneuver through the ropes, and climb into the Great Seal Room. Place the correct seal in the central holder, and a door may open into the Chamber…of the Sacred Markers. Match the symbols on the right to those on the left, and pass into the Safari Room. Push in the correct animal head and open the door to the SHRIIIINE of the Silver Monkey! Assemble the statue and you may be headed toward the Room…of the Secret Password. Find the tablet with the correct inscription and shout it out to open the door to the Pharaoh’s Secret Passage. Slide down the tunnel to the Dungeon, where you could smash through the wall into the Dark Forest…but beware of the Temple Guards that may inhabit the trees! Find the key in the tree, and you’ll enter…the Bamboo Forest! Maneuver through the thicket, and you’ll gain entry to the Tomb of the Headless Kings. Pull the vine to release the bones, and attach the missing skull to its proper king, then…crawl through the Labyrinth, climb through the Ledges, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate. The choices are yours and yours alone!” Olmec pauses. “You won 2 Pendants in the Temple Games. Who’s going first?”

“I am,” shouts Jennifer.

“Very well, Jennifer,” Olmec replies. “When Kirk gives the signal, you’ll race through the gate into the Temple and make your way toward the Rudder. Hidden inside the Temple are Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but—if you’re caught without a Pendant, you’ll be taken out of the Temple, and it’ll be T.J.’s turn to enter and try his luck. If you can reach the Rudder, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. Return through the Gate with the Rudder from the HMS Endurance in three minutes, and you’ll both be handsomely rewarded—and here’s how!”

• Just for making it this far, they’ll receive a sports package from Regents.
• If they can grab the Rudder within three minutes, they’ll also receive a laptop computer from Toshiba.
• And if they can bring the Rudder out of the Temple before three minutes expires, they’ll win a trip to Montreal, Quebec.

“All right, let’s see if they can win that trip,” Kirk remarks. “T.J., do you and Jennifer have any strategy going into the Temple?”

“Yeah, she told me she’s just gonna take the top half and try to make it back down to the room before time runs out,” T.J. explains.

“Okay, sounds like these two know what they’re doing,” says Kirk. “Let’s see if they can win this thing. Mouthpieces in, both of you. Let’s put three minutes on the clock!” The clock appears onscreen, all ready to go.

“Olmec, lower your gate, if you please.” Olmec moans gutturally as the gate is lowered, and the black lights under him go out.

“All right…are you ready, Jennifer?” Kirk asks.

Jennifer nods as a response.

“Okay…on your mark, get set, GO!”

Jennifer dashes up the Temple steps clutching her Pendant of Life. She slides down into the Ledges and begins crawling through. She hits the actuator for the Rope Labyrinth, but the door won’t budge. She scrambles up to try the actuator to the Crypt, which opens. She climbs into the room (2:52) and immediately goes to work pulling the books. The second one she pulls opens the door to the Rope Labyrinth, and she takes off into the room (2:48). Jennifer scrambles through the ropes, headed downward, and makes it to the bottom rather quickly (2:43). She hits the actuator to the Tomb of the Headless Kings, and it opens (2:40). However, she climbs up to try the actuator to the Chamber of the Sacred Markers, which doesn’t work. She clambers back down and progresses into the Tomb. “She’s doing great so far!” Kirk accurately narrates. “T.J. could have to take off at any time, though!” The camera shows T.J. clapping and cheering Jennifer on. Back in the Tomb, Jennifer pulls the vine and immediately sees the skull as it falls along with the other bones. She grabs it off the floor and places it on the stage-right king, but nothing happens (2:32). She tries the stage-right king, and the torso of the skeleton begins glowing red and pulsating as the doors to both the Bamboo Forest and the Chamber of the Sacred Markers open.

Jennifer begins climbing the ladder into the Chamber, and emerges in the room a few seconds later (2:25). She runs to the stage-left part of the room and pulls two tiles off the wall, looks around for a few seconds, and rushes over to the stage-right part of the room to pull a tile off that part of the wall (2:19). “She’s got the tiles, now she’s gotta place ‘em in the right slots!” Kirk narrates. Jennifer places all three tiles in the slots, opening the door upward to the Great Seal Room and revealing the first TEMPLE GUARD behind it, flailing his arms at Jennifer (2:13). “Oh, Temple Guard!” Kirk narrates. “He wants her Pendant!” Without missing a beat, Jennifer hands over her Pendant of Life. The Temple Guard slithers aside to let her climb the ladder into the Great Seal Room. She emerges in the room (2:06) and goes to the back to retrieve the seals, grabbing all four in her arms. She brings them to the central holder and lays them on the floor. She places one seal in the holder, but nothing happens (1:58). Jennifer tries another seal, but again, nothing happens (1:54). She tries a third seal, and the door to the Safari Room opens (1:49). “That’s it! Now into the Safari Room!” Kirk narrates. Jennifer runs to the room and looks around before she begins hitting the fake animal heads. She tries the head of the lion, the Cape buffalo, and the rhino before hitting the leopard's head, which opens the door to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey (1:36). “The leopard did it!” Kirk narrates. “Now she’s off to the Shrine of the Siiilver Monkey!” Jennifer emerges in the room, looks around for a second, and goes to the back of the room. She retrieves all three pieces of the statue and brings them back to the front (1:27). She places the base (1:23), the middle (1:18) and the head (1:13) with very little difficulty, opening the door to the Room of the Secret Password. However, Jennifer disappears from sight altogether. “Where is she?” asks Kirk. “Did a Temple Guard get her?” The camera pans down to show Jennifer in the Dark Forest, and she grabs the giant RUDDER (1:05).

“No, there she is…she’s got the Rudder! All the doors are open now!” Kirk excitedly narrates. Jennifer scrambles through the open door to the Bamboo Forest and begins climbing through the room, barely slowed by the nearly five-foot-long artifact she’s carrying. She makes it to the other side (0:57), darts through the Tomb of the Headless Kings and the Rope Labyrinth with the huge Rudder in tow, and enters the Ledges (0:51). “Fifty-one seconds—I think she’s gonna make it!” Kirk narrates. The camera shows T.J. jumping up and down and clapping his hands. “Come on, Jen!” he screams. Jennifer climbs out of the Ledges and dashes through the Temple Gate with forty-two seconds left on the clock.

“She did it!” Kirk shouts as Jennifer and T.J. hug one another and raise their arms in celebration. “She did it all! All by herself! She got that huge Rudder out all by herself! They won it all—they got the sports package, the laptop computer—they’re goin’ to Montreal!” Jennifer says something to Kirk as T.J. raises his fists in celebration. Kirk starts laughing. “She just asked me, ‘Can I go again?’ She’s such a trooper! I really love this team; I enjoyed having ‘em. We’ve gotta get outta here, but we’ll see ya next time. Just remember: it’s not just Legends—it’s Legends: Rebirth! Buh-bye, everybody!”

Jennifer hands the Rudder to T.J. He holds it high as Kirk and Jennifer wave to the crowd, and the credits roll (slowly).

The Rudder from the HMS Endurance
Season 1, Layout 1
Artifact Location
: The Dark Forest
Team: Blue Barracudas (Jennifer Madison & T.J. Cordele)
Pendants: 2
Result: Escaped! (0:42 left)

Every once in a while, a player comes along on Legends of the Hidden Temple that just blows you away. Some players from the ‘90s seasons that fit this criterion include: Olivia-Emma from “The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata”, Gator from “The Mussel Shell Armor of Apanuugpak”, and Zac from “The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen”. Add to that list now: Jennifer from “The Rudder from the HMS Endurance”.

Lightning-fast, smart, and quite aware of her bearings in the Temple, Jennifer dominated pretty much every room she came in contact with. She blazed through the Rope Labyrinth in what must be record time, found and placed all three tiles in the Chamber of the Sacred Markers with one swoop, handed over her Pendant of Life extremely quickly (she didn’t even seem to be fazed by that overzealous Temple Guard), and put the silver monkey together in a record-breaking ten seconds. When she grabbed the artifact with a healthy minute and change left on the clock, you just knew that this team would record the win. You’d be right, too—with a hefty 42 seconds to spare, this is the fastest Temple Run to date on Legends: Rebirth. It’s also only the second solo victory since the show’s revival. Jennifer even asked Kirk if she could go again—funny stuff! This team definitely deserved the win Jennifer worked so hard for.

Rating: 9 out of 10

Notes and Trivia: This is the first time since the revival of Legends that the Blue Barracudas successfully bring an artifact out of the Temple.

The Rudder from the HMS Endurance may be the largest artifact to date used on Legends. Using the size of the trees in the Dark Forest as a guide, the Rudder had to have been at least 4½ feet long! Despite its size, it probably wasn’t that heavy, or Jennifer would’ve had a tough time carrying it out.

The credits roll rather slowly in this episode, probably to compensate for the time they thought they were going to have to spend on the Temple Run.

Like most of the episodes that use Layout 1 of the Temple, this episode has an audience, but it’s quite small—during the Moat Crossing, you can make out that only the first two or three rows of seats have people sitting in them.

Production-wise, this episode immediately follows “The Burnt French Flag of Louis the Thirteenth”, meaning that there were two successful solo Temple Runs in a row that only encountered one Temple Guard.
