As I promised, here is the overall ranking for that production day:

Sforza: 7.2
Empress Eugenie: 7.3
Benzibab: 7.1
Catherine the Great: 8.4
Overall Score: 7.50

Overall, this was a solid production day and a great way to end the show. You can tell the producers put in extra effort producing these four episodes. I bet the overall score would've been higher if the Green Monkeys won in Empress Eugenie, but the whole production day is still amazing and I love all four of these episodes. I don't think any production day can top this one. The next best one is probably the Atocha/Annie Taylor day and the Nostradamus/Polynesian Girl day. ;)

Also, I have a feeling that Freydis is going to get a great score. I think I have that whole episode memorized by heart, and there are a lot of great stuff from there. Interesting legend, fun temple game sequence, and the temple run is fun as hell to watch. I love that episode an could see it ranking just as high as Annie Taylor and Catherine the Great. Easily the best Purple Parrot episode.  :mrpurple:  :mrpurple:  :mrpurple:  :mrpurple:

I am going to do Blackbeard next for sure. I already watched it not too long ago, and I could see it ranking as low as Alhambra and Bifocal Monocle. Seriously, the editing was really crappy in that episode and all of the rounds were mediocre. I should have it up by the end of the weekend.  :mrred:

And I just noticed, today is the one year anniversary for this project.  :mrred: It has been a great run and we have covered over 70 episodes in a year.  :mrred: That is great considering how many episodes there are. Like I said, I am trying to reach the 100 episode mark by year end. ;)

Actually, yesterday was the one year anniversary. The OP says this topic was started 10-10-12, though yesterday was the first year anniversary of when the first review "Belle Boyd" was posted. And yeah, Empress Eugenie definitely would've ranked higher if it had been a win. But it was the second highest episode ranked on that filming day, if that says anything. ;) What was the overall ranking for Annie Taylor's filming day again? I'm pretty sure you posted those rankings, but have long since been buried. I know for sure we haven't done Nostradamus' overall ranking yet.

And good luck ranking Blackbeard. I wouldn't be surprised if that ranked in the 2 range, like Bifocal Monocle and Alhambra did. I should have the episode review for Freydis up by tomorrow.

I think it would be interesting to rank all of the production days and keep them in one post. So far we have finished the Empress Eugenie day, Henry Hudson day, and Annie Taylor day. I think I am going to keep all of the production day rankings in this post and update it once another production day is complete. I will also put a link in the original post too. ;)

Also, I was wrong about the Benzibab day being the highest ranked day. The Annie Taylor day did have a higher overall score than the last production day of S3. Which is surprising, because of how low Electrified Key ranked. But the other three episodes that day were very high and evened out it's low score. Once we are done ranking more production days, I will put it into this post. ;)

At long last, here's my episode review of "The Milk Bucket of Freydis." :mrpurple:

THE MILK BUCKET OF FREYDIS

MOAT: 7/10

For this moat, the players had to stand on stacked tubes and pull themselves across using the polls above them. This was a decent round, and most of the players didn't even use the tubes to cross the moat. Probably because of the kids were a little on the short side. At the end of the round, the Red Jaguars, Green Monkeys, Silver Snakes, and the Purple Parrots advanced to the Steps of Knowledge.

LEGEND: 7/10

This legend talked about a tough viking named Freydis, who was the sister if Leif Erickson. She worked harder than all her men put together, and could even chop down a tree in no time flat. She could also rope a cow in under a minute! Then out of nowhere, a group of Eskimos came by and attacked. Freydis was not at all afraid, and hit the Eskimos on the head with her Milk Bucket. On top of that, she wrestled two more to the ground during the tirade. The Eskimos were so startled they ran off, and Freydis' milk bucket disappeared and made its way to the temple. This legend was pretty good, I just wish it could've been more detailed. Reading about Freydis and how brave she was was interesting, as was the tidbit about her being related to Leif Erickson. Especially since we already had an artifact named after Leif Erickson earlier on in the show. But the legend was just a little too short for me.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 8/10

The Steps of Knowledge was a solid round. There were not many wrong answers, and the round ended quickly, which is always a good thing. Chris of the Purple Parrots was very smart on the steps, answering all the questions for his team, and ended up being the first team to finish. The Silver Snakes joined them on the final step not long after, ending the round in just 7 questions.

TEMPLE GAMES: 8/10

The temple games featured some great domination by the Purple Parrots, and was generally a very exciting round. In the first game, Chris and Joshua had to put together a viking head/helmet by putting horns on it, all while avoiding the swinging obstacles. It was a close match, and one interesting thing I'd like to note is that one of Chris' horns was dropped on the ground, but was still counted. Nonetheless, the game ended in a tie. In the second game, Tarrah and Jennifer had to put bells on the spitting animal head's neck. I've got to say, Jennifer of the Silver Snakes was downright TERRIBLE at this game. She kept touching the ground the entire game and only got one bell on the animal head's neck. Tarrah on the other hand, was a beast in this game, never touched the ground once, and ended up winning the game. I guess Tarrah's very short stature helped her here. With the Purple Parrots leading the Silver Snakes 1-0.5 pendants, it all came down to the final game. In the third game, the players had to row a boat to the buoy, then turn back around by pulling themselves back to the starting point with a rope. Tarrah and Chris smoked the Silver Snakes, and winning the game, earning them a full pendant, and going to the temple with 2 pendants!

TEMPLE RUN: 9/10

This was a solid temple run. Tarrah may not have been the fastest player on the show, but it didn't matter. She did a great job in the temple, and even caught a few lucky breaks too. Such as the first wall painting working in the Jester's Court, the first Dark Forest tree contained the key to the Shrine. And she wasn't removed from the temple when she detoured into the Room of the Secret Password briefly. Tarrah grabbed the milk bucket with 32 seconds left on the clock, and then things really got interesting. In the Pit, Tarrah tried to jump across the Pit, but instead, ended up crashing against the rock slab and landed in the ball pit! That looked like that had to hurt, and she even broke the milk bucket too. Nonetheless, Tarrah recorded a solo win with only one second left on the clock! Talk about a nail biting ending.

FINAL VERDICT: 7.8/10

Freydis was a very exciting episode from beginning to end, and Chris and Tarrah were very dominant players throughout most of the episode. In the end, it was only one player that mattered. Tarrah was a great player and totally deserved to win, especially after everything she had to go through in the temple. Plus, Tarrah easily had to be one of the shortest players this show has ever seen. Her Purple Parrot T shirt looked HUGE on her. I honestly prefer this win to the Belly Button of Buddha. I realize they were the same layout, but Tarrah's run was so much more exciting because of the nail biter ending, and it was a harder layout. Jennifer's layout was far too easy, and she was just plain average. And Jennifer looked rather clueless at times, Tarrah at least knew what she was doing most of the time. Overall, this episode is worth watching and I definitely recommend this episode to everyone.

Milk Bucket was an amazing episode and my personal favorite Purple Parrots episode.  :mrpurple: I always thought that the tubes used for the moat were pretty pointless. It always looked like it gave the players a harder time crossing rather than making it easier. I also remember the legend for how Freydis was related to Leif Erickson, who also had an episode already dedicated to him (Stone Marker  :mrred: ). Freydis reminds me of a character in some TV show that acted just like her. Maybe the character was suppose to be based off her? :P

I remember the temple games very well too. First off, that swinging obstacle game was way overused during that production day. I am surprised they didn't use it in Charles Lindbergh. I also remember Tarrah dominating the Silver Snake girl in the horse spitting game. It reminds me of Kelly from Billy the Kid doing the exact same thing in the exact same game. :P Actually, the Silver Snakes weren't a good team at all during this temple games round. Didn't you also find a Reddit post by them where one of the players called Tarrah a bitch? Yeah, I doubt that she was one. They were just butthurt that they lost.

I love the temple run the most about this episode. I honestly wouldn't have mind if you gave it a 10.  :mrpurple: It was very fun and exciting, and came all the way down to the wire. I don't see how Tarrah compares to Jennifer from Buddha. Tarrah had much more challenging objectives, and she completed them very well despite her tiny height. Plus, Jennifer looked confused half of the time. I will take Tarrah over her any day.  :mrpurple: The best part of this win was the ending where Tarrah jumps across the Pit, smacks her face into the edge, and then brings the Milk Bucket out with one second to spare even after facing such a ugly hit. You have to give credit to Tarrah for winning after all that. Great temple win and this one ranks #6 on my list.  :mrpurple:

I guess this episode doesn't outrank Billy the Kid in the end. But that is okay because both episodes are amazing. Maybe Metal Beard will be the episode that finishes higher than both? Either way, all three Purple Parrot wins are amazing and exciting. Good review and we only have Metal Beard left to rank for Purple Parrot episodes.  :mrpurple:

Next up is Blackbeard's Treasure Map.   :mrpurple:

Yeah, the Silver Snake boy from that episode called Tarrah a bitch, for no reason. And he complained that both Chris and Tarrah stole their idea for which path they should take in the temple. How is that possible? It's not like players get to choose how their layouts turn out. Also, he complained that his partner was useless, and even compared her to a down syndrome character named Corky. What a jerk, Jared wasn't even that bad in the Mystical Spellbook episode. You should see his other posts on Reddit too. They're even worse than his comments of Tarrah.

By the way, which TV character does Freydis remind you of out of curiosity? I can't really think of any, maybe you mean a Nicktoon character? :P And yeah, the temple run was amazing. Tarrah really isn't comparable to Jennifer either. Tarrah had a harder layout, AND had a more exciting ending. Tarrah was a great player, Jennifer was just plain average. I sort of wish it would've outranked Billy the Kid, but maybe the average rating the legend got sort of brought it down? Oh well, there's always Metal Beard, an episode that should also rank pretty high. :mrpurple: And total word on how all three Purple Parrot wins were amazing and exciting. Besides Freydis, they don't get nearly enough credit as they deserve. Good luck with Blackbeard too, that episode was horrible the whole way through, ans poorly edited.

I wonder how many contestants were dissatisfied with their partners? I mean I know they most likely don't know their partner besides that one production day, but I think insulting their level of intelligence is going too far. Both players were working towards the same goal: to make it to Olmec's temple. Keeli from Stone Marker did the same thing in her temple run interview about Chris. Although she wasn't as harsh as the Silver Snake boy and I think she was just joking around. :P

As for Katie from Mystical Spellbook, I definitely believe her because Jared looked like the type of contestant that would be a jerk. Plus, Season 3 was a breeding round for attention starved kids. He looked like a jerk even before reading Katie's interview. But at least Jared showed some signs of chemistry with Katie. The Silver Snakes boy from Freydis sounded like a douche.  :? Contestants like him (Silver Snake Boy) and the Green Monkeys boy from Mulan are contestants that I am glad didn't go to the temple.

I don't think Egyptian Queen will outrank Billy the Kid, but I think it will come close. All of the rounds of that episode were exciting too.  :mrpurple: Once that is covered, we will be done with all the Purple Parrot episodes too.  :mrpurple: I think the legend from Freydis is what brought the score overall score down for that episode. It probably would've reached an 8 ranking if it wasn't for that round. It reminds me of the moat from Atocha that drags down the episode score a lot.

As for Blackbeard, I am almost done with it.     It seems like everything that could go wrong in an episode happens here. Everything was pure crap about it. You don't know how many bad edits I have encountered. There is the infamous ass picking moment in the moat, the legend has no figure, the Steps of Knowledge music ends randomly before the round is over, the temple run has some crappy shots that are not present in other S1 episodes, and the ending lacks credits. Not to mention, this is the longest taped episode ever too. Blackbeard is really a steaming pile of crap. Not even Belshazzar (the real first episode), was even this bad.

Yeah, Jared and Katie at least looked like they were pretending to like each other on camera. And Jared got pissed at Katie because he was convinced it was her fault the team lost. But at least we know Jared had enough sense to NOT insult Katie and refer to her as mentally challenged. On the other hand, Joshua (the Silver Snake boy's name) and Jennifer from Freydis did show at least some chemistry on camera. So they did pretend to like each other just like Katie and Jared did. Other than that, the male Silver Snake was an asshole and I'm glad he didn't go to the temple. Why was Tarrah referred to as a bitch again? He's just mad that he got destroyed in the temple games. I do remember Keeli dissing Chris in her interview too. But it goes back to the same point, pretending to like each other.

And Blackbeard was definitely poorly edited. Like one of the contestants picking at their butt in the moat, and no intern dressed as Blackbeard for the legend. They didn't even have a copyright at the end or any credits either. This may have been the first episode edited, but NOT the first episode ever recorded. I honestly don't know why people seem to think that just because it says "Episode 1," it automatically means it was the pilot episode. There was no pilot episode recorded, according to Kirk's radio interview. Then again, they sort of deserved a bad episode after throwing production together and NOT taping a pilot episode before hand. It's pretty much their own fault for being so ill prepared with production. I can't imagine how low that's gonna rank, I'm guessing it will be in the 3 range.

Yeah, Blackbeard was definitely a S1L5 episode like Oracle Bowl, Leonardo Da Vinci, etc. It shared many things in common with those episodes from moat rejects to temple game sequences. It definitely was not a pilot episode either because it does not share the same quirks as Belshazzar and Galileo. Although that didn't stop it from being a disaster.  I wonder if the Belshazzar and Blackbeard temple runs (not episodes) were taped back-to-back? Both episodes had screwy doors in the Room of the Harmonic Convergence. But yeah, it was not the first episode produced for sure.

I finally finished Blackbeard!   And good riddance too, because this episode was horrible as hell.  I swear when some of these Legends episodes were really bad, the whole episode had to suck. This episode was no exception. This also had to be my longest episode review too because there was too much to talk about. I am so glad to get this episode done. -_-

BLACKBEARD'S TREASURE MAP

MOAT: 2/10

The first players on each team had to pull themselves across the moat while floating inside of their innertubes. Once they made it to the other side, they had to take their tubes and throw it to their partners. Once their partners grabbed on to the tubes, then they had to pull themselves to the other side the same way. The first four teams that made it across would go onto the Steps of Knowledge. The idea used for this moat was very bland and boring. Not only that, but it seemed to give the kids a lot of trouble throwing it across too. It was one of those moats where it took along time for the last team to make it across. Altogether, this was a very boring and lackluster moat.

LEGEND: 8/10

The meanest, most ornery, and the ugliest Pirate to sail to the seven seas was Blackbeard. He tied ribbons around his long black beard and hid fuses under his hat to make himself look more frightening. When he felt dull, he would set fire to his own ship or shoot one of his own crew members to keep them on their feet. Blackbeard liked attacking Spanish ships and stealing all of their jewels. If a hostage took too long to take off their ring, he would cut off their finger. Once, he even made a man eat his own ear. He would take his treasure to shore and hide them with the help of a few men. Sometimes, the men who helped him never came back. According to legend, one of his fourteen wives held his Treasure Map and it eventually made it's way to the temple.

This episode featured a pretty graphic and gruesome legend. I actually found this legend to be interesting for this very reason. A lot of the legends featured on the show would sugarcoat the gruesome details, but this legend did a good job detailing how fierce Blackbeard was. However, unlike most S1 legends, this one failed to use a dressed intern as the historical figure for this legend. Why? I am not sure, but this episode was filled with a lot of quirks. So I had to deduct one point for that. Other than that, this was a pretty neat story.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 3/10

This Steps of Knowledge round was the exact reason why I could not stand this round in Season 1. Olmec threw out a couple of questions that were very close to being correct, but because they were not the exact answers as his own, he didn't count them. For example, one of the questions he asked was, "What did Blackbeard use to tie around his beard?". The Orange Iguana girl answered "Red Ribbon", but the correct answer was "Bow" and Olmec still counted it as incorrect. He did the exact same thing for a couple of other questions. As a result, we had a pretty long Steps round. Yet, if this was Season 3, these players' answers would've been counted as correct. So S3 were very lucky on how Kirk and Olmec were generous about their answers. What saved this round from getting a really low score was that it was actually very close and all four teams eventually made it to the second to last step. The Red Jaguars and Silver Snakes eventually advanced onto the next round. On a side note, the Steps of Knowledge music ended before the round was over. This is a recurring theme with bad editing in this episode.

TEMPLE GAMES: 5/10

The Silver Snakes featured Hector, who was 12 and liked to play the trumpet, and his partner Karisa, who was 11 years old and wanted to be a teacher. The Red Jaguars featured James, who was 11 and played as a forward in soccer, and Sabrina, who was 11 and a goalkeeper in soccer.

Temple Game #1 - Load the Cannons

In the first temple game, Hector and James had to push their cannonballs to the top of the ramp with their backs and load it into their cannons. Once they get the first one up, they had to do the same thing two more times. As time goes on, water will gush out from the top of the ramp and make it harder for the contestants to climb to the top. The first player to place all three cannonballs at the will win. James ended up being more dominant in this temple game, and won it 2-1. For the most part, the temple games were okay. I liked the Pirate theme that was used, but the competition was pretty boring and sucky. It felt like the best of the worst would go onto the temple games.

Temple Game #2 - Buried Treasure

In the second temple game, Karisa and Sabrina had to bury through rubble to find Blackbeard's treasure. Once they find a piece of treasure, then they must climb to the top of the shaft and place it into their bin. The girl that had the most pieces of treasure after 60 seconds would be the winner. Both girls struggled in this temple game when it came to climbing, and the final score was a 2-2 tie. This put the Red Jaguars up 1-0.5

Temple Game #3 - Raise the Jolly Roger

The final team game had the two teams assembling Blackbeard's Jolly Roger flag. Both teams had to work together to assemble his flag by having one player grab a piece of the flag and placing it onto the top of the pole. When placing the flag pieces, they must match the correct number with the correct panel. If not, then that piece will not count. The team that assembles the most pieces of the flag after 60 seconds will win. In the end, the Red Jaguars and Silver Snakes tie 4-4 a piece. But with two pendants, the Red Jaguars go onto the temple games.

EDITING: -1

I almost never do this for most episode reviews, but this episode deserves it for the really bad editing. There were just too many bad shots in this episode that it made it look really crappy. Even Belshazzar and Dead Man's Hand had better editing than Blackbeard. I had to deduct a point for the very poor editing because it was just very bad. Here are some standout moments from this episode.

- During the moat, one of the female players can be seen picking her butt.
- The legend for this episode lacks a historical figure shot in the moat like all of the other S1 episodes.
- The Steps of Knowledge music ends before the round is over.
- The temple run featured some bad shots of the camera panning out of the temple where you can see parts of the set.
- The ending lacks any credits of some sort.
- This episode is two minutes longer than any other episode on the show.

TEMPLE RUN: 1/10

This episode featured by far one of the worst temple runs ever on the show. Sabrina was very challenged player in the temple and she only made it through 5 rooms in 3 minutes. How can that be you ask? She just didn't know what she was doing at all. She originally starts low in the Cave of Sighs and granted access to the Wheel Room. After lifting the stone slab up to reveal the door to the Room of Harmonic Convergence, Sabrina tries pressing the actuator next to the door but it does not open. So she is forced to backtrack to the Room of the Three Gargoyles and try to take a different route. If you watch this temple run more closely though, you can tell that Sabrina did not press the actuator hard enough. I really think the door would've opened to the Room of Harmonic Convergence, but Sabrina was too retarded to press the button the right way.

After taking the Troubled Bridge with very little time left, she eventually makes her way to the Heart Room where she has trouble figuring out where to go next. With the clock winding down, Sabrina literally just gives up and starts walking back towards the temple gates. Seriously, she turns around and walks back to the entrance.     Sabrina was a horrible contestant and one of the worst players on the show. This is easily one of the worst temple runs ever. The only worst one I would say is the "Golden Cricket Cage" one. I can guarantee you that 99% of any of the other contestants that this show featured would've done much better than Sabrina. Please do yourself a favor and try not to gouge your eyes out like I almost did after watching this abomination.

FINAL VERDICT: 3.6/10
"Blackbeard" is a horrible episode and one of the worst episodes ever featured on the show. To clear one thing up, this was NOT the first episode ever taped. So it will not get any sympathy from me for having early quirks. That honors belongs to "The Golden Cup of Belshazzar", which was ten times better than this crapfest. This episode was definitely taped on the same day as the other S1L5 episodes. The reason why it is labeled "Episode 1" is either because this episode was the first planned episode ever and got scraped for a later production day, or it was the first episode edited. Whichever it was, it was not one of the first episodes taped like the other S1L1 episodes.

Aside from that, this episode is pure garbage. It was so cringeworthy and almost all of the rounds were cringeworthy. The only round I liked was the legend, which saves this episode from being ranked in the low 2's range like Alhambra and Bifocal Monocle. The temple run was very pathetic and it makes Season 1 look very bad. I would say only watch this episode for completion and never touch it again. I have only watched three times in my 23 years lifespan, and one of those reasons was to write this review.

For a minute there, I thought you were giving the temple run itself a -1. Not that it wouldn't have deserved it. And I'm certainly not surprised with how low the episode overall ranked. This temple run is one of the many reasons why I hate the Red Jaguars. Their temple runs are always my least favorite, and this run is no exception. Sabrina is the walking poster child for why you should NEVER send the slow witted player first into the temple. It really did look like she gave up at the end, when Kirk said "You might just want to come down now...." Not to mention, Sabrina looked like a man too. With her caterpillar eyebrows and boys haircut. I know this is shallow, but she has got to be the ugliest contestant this show has ever seen. Even James looked more feminine than her. This temple run and episode was terrible, there's a reason I always skip over this episode. I've only seen the full episode twice, so you have me beat by your three times. -_-

And this was definitely NOT the first episode ever recorded. People like to claim it was just because it was labeled "Episode 1," but this was NOT the pilot episode. Every interview Kirk has done discussing the show says there was never a pilot episode of any kind made. Methinks this was the first episode that WAS gonna get produced first, but due to production constraints, it got pushed aside. Furthermore, this entire episode was taped in S1L5 in its entirety. Belshazzar was filmed in S1L1 except for the temple run. So Belshazzar naturally, was the real first episode ever recorded. And had to have its run postponed due to time running late. So thus = Blackbeard was not the pilot episode.

Overall, great review. I'm thinking of doing Scheherazade next. It's definitely one of the more boring episodes, but anything is an improvement over Blackbeard. I'm thinking Scheherazade will rank in the mid 5 range.

I actually like the idea of giving certain temple runs negative numbers.  Runs like Blackbeard, Golden Cricket Cage, and Bifocal Monocle totally deserve it. And yeah, Sabrina is easily the most masculine looking girl on the show. Either her, or Jennifer from Buddha.  I still remember Ed's review for this episode listing her as a guy. That temple run was very pitiful and no excuse for that sad performance. If you can't figure out the Heart Room, then you don't belong in the temple.

And I like to think that Blackbeard was the first episode they were going to shoot, but postponed it for a later time. That is the most plausible scenario in my mind. But it was not a pilot episode that they shot way before the show started because the episode is more "professional" then Belshazzar and Galileo (like it didn't have that "Rightful owner" line in it). Belshazzar was definitely that episode that took 18 hours to tape and couldn't finish. I can't believe Katherine and Sean and the producers survived that long ass day. I really wish we could get an official answer on Blackbeard though from one of the producers. I know they most likely don't remember many details from a 20 year old episode, but I am sure they still remember the first production day ever on the show. :P I am glad to get this episode done either way.

Ivory Elephant was a very boring episode, and it probably ranks up there with "Bent Shaving Pan". However, I could see Ivory Elephant finishing in the 6.0 range though. I remember the legend being pretty interesting and the Blue Barracudas didn't do too bad in the episode. At least it had some interesting moments, unlike Bent Shaving Pan. But that is not saying much. I do remember that this was the last temple run that TMH needed for his site, and it was a pretty bland temple run for him to get 100% completion. I also noticed you claimed Nathan Hale and Egyptian Queen. Egyptian Queen is definitely going to get a high score. Will it finish higher than Billy the Kid? It's possible. Nathan Hale will also be very interesting with the layout change and crap officiating during the temple games. I think I am doing "Two-Cornered Hat" next.  :mrred:

At least Jennifer from Buddha sort of looked like a girl, she just had a boys haircut. Sabrina just looked like a straight up dude. Both with a boys haircut and bushy eyebrows. For someone with such a pretty name like Sabrina, she certainly looked like a man. And yeah, I remember Ed on his site referring to Sabrina as a "he" too. I also remember TMH's episode review of Blackbeard being a timeline on how awful Sabrina did in the temple. And yeah, I wish we could get a straight answer on the production of episodes likes Blackbeard and Belshazzar. Kirk remembers when the real "first episode" took 18 hours to film, but I doubt he remembers the name of the actual episode. I highly doubt the producers remember anything about some 20 year old episode either.

And Ivory Elephant is a MUCH better and much more interesting episode than Bent Shaving Pan. Though it's not really saying much, like you said. Good luck ranking Napoleon too, that was a pretty good episode. And it was one of the episodes played in the "20 episode cycle" Nick Gas had in late 2006. As for Egyptian Queen, it will probably rank in the high 7/low 8 range. I'm not sure if it will beat Billy the Kid though. Nathan Hale on the other hand, is a very sloppily produced episode. I honestly don't see it ranking higher than the 5 range.

Thanks to Nick GaS, I remember a lot of details about Two-Cornered Hat without even having to watch this episode. :P I will still watch it though to make sure I don't miss something. I think this episode will rank in the high 6's or low 7 range. One of the very few good Red Jaguars episodes. :mrred: Nathan Hale is an interesting episode where it would've been much better if certain things didn't go wrong Like if the Silver Snakes actually tied Christina's temple game, they would've gone to the temple with two pendants. Or if they found the very easy half-pendant, the run would've gone a lot smoother Christina was a terrible player though either way and she moved pretty slow too.

Here it is, my episode review of "The Ivory Elephant of Scheherazade." :mrblue:

THE IVORY ELEPHANT OF SCHEHERAZADE

MOAT: 5/10

For this moat, the teams had to swing across the moat using a rope. If you fell into the water, you had to go back and start all over again. Not much to say about this round, as nothing really noteworthy happened. The Green Monkeys, Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas, and the Silver Snakes ended up advancing to the Steps of Knowledge.

LEGEND: 7/10

This legend centered around King Shahryar, who married a woman daily, only to do away with them the next day. This continued until the vizier announced that there were no more women left to marry. The king demanded that the vizier find a woman, or he was dead meat. The vizier then brought in his daughter Scheherazade, who was willing to marry the king. That night, they got married, and Scheherazade told the king a story about an Arabian adventurer. With that, the king did not do away with her, and fell in love with Scheherazade. He even gave her an Ivory Elephant, which eventually made its way to the temple. This was a pretty interesting legend. A king doing away with all these women was an interesting read, but I took off a few points because I felt like the legend revolved more around the king than it did Scheherazade herself. I felt like the latter character was being used more like a secondary character, then a titular character. Furthermore, what's with these unspellable names like Shahryar and Scheherazade? It is so easy to confuse the spelling, it's not even funny. I know that's just how names are sometimes, but still.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 6/10

The Steps of Knowledge was a typical round. Monica of the Blue Barracudas was very smart on the steps, and answered all the questions for the team. But it was the Red Jaguars who were the first to finish, and the Blue Barracudas followed suit not long after. The Green Monkeys got 2 questions correct, and the Silver Snakes only got one question right.

TEMPLE GAMES: 6/10

While the temple games featured a unique set of games, the outcome was very one sided. In all three games, it was obvious who was gonna win each time. In the first game, Brad and Cameron had to spin the giant Olmec wheel, representing the stories Scheherazade told the king. Cameron had some trouble rotating the wheel, so that gave Brad an upper hand, winning the game. In the second game, Monica and Bree had to take a string of harem beads, and jump up and place them on the ceiling above. Monica beat Bree 5-4, completing the full pendant for the Blue Barracudas, giving them a lead into the final game 1-0. In the third game, the teams had to climb up a bunch of tubes, and carry a dome to put on top of the Arabian tower. This game was only ever used in "The Very Tall Turban of Ahmed Baba." I think they should've used this temple games more often too. It put a lot of emphasis on teamwork, and I liked the overall objective of the game. Anyways, Brad and Monica blazed through this game, and put the dome on top of the tower very quickly. This gave the Blue Barracudas the full pendant, sweeping the Red Jaguars in the temple games 2-0, and earned them a trip to the temple!

TEMPLE RUN: 5/10

This was one of these temple runs where the team loses because they fail to take shortcuts. Monica goes in first and she moves pretty slow. In the Observatory, she took a long time assembling the stone columns. Most contestants would assemble it from the bottom up, and but her assembly consisted of her putting it together from the top down. Unfortunately, that method ended up costing her a lot of time. In the King's Storeroom, Monica is removed from the temple with 1:40 left on the clock. Brad goes in next and is faster than Monica, but unfortunately, he fails to use shortcuts of any kind when he was in the temple. He detours into the Ledges instead of going directly up to the Crypt, and fails to use the Shrine/Forest passage after assembling the monkey. He makes it as far as the Dark Forest, where his time runs out. This layout is just like "The Missing Portrait of Hans Holbein," only the latter layout was a lot harder.

FINAL VERDICT: 5.8/10

This was just an average episode really. The Blue Barracudas swept the temple games, but fell short in the temple. Brad and Monica would've had a much better chance at winning if they had taken more shortcuts, and if Monica did not stall in the Observatory. If they had reached the elephant, they would've entered every single room just to get there. On a more shallow note, Monica had hands down, THE longest hair in the history of the show. It literally went all the way down to her butt, and even her bangs were long too. I've never seen someone with hair that long before. Overall, while this episode is utterly boring, I still recommend it.
