Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now.

(Kirk is seen coming down the steps of the temple)

Kirk: Thank you, thank you! It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of Marie Curie and her Radioactive Rock.

Kirk: Ah, right. Well, the legend is set and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the rock. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They?re going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec?s temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and here's how they're gonna have to do it today.

One member of each team is sitting on a floating block of ice and your partner is behind you. When I say "go", you will balance on the ice and your partner will push the block to the shore. If you fall, or if a knee touches the ice block, you must go back and start again. When you're done, run over and hit the gong! (Kirk hits the Red Jaguars' gong) The first four teams to hit their gongs go on to the next round...are you ready?

Teams: Yeeaaahhh!!!!

Kirk: Olmec are you ready?

Olmec: You betcha!

Kirk: All right! On your marks, get set... GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: That's it! We've got our four teams! Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Blue Barracudas, along with the Green Monkeys! And the Purple Parrots and the Silver Snakes! Orange Iguanas and Red Jaguars gave it a great effort too. They will not be going away empty handed though, here's what we have for them:

Kirk: As we continue our quest, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about Marie Curie and her Radioactive Rock. But, you teams, pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple.

Olmec: Marie Curie was a great Nobel-Prize winner who might have set the biggest milestone in medication. Curie was born as the youngest of five children, and grew up to marry her husband Pierre during University. They then ended up studying radioactive materials. Something was making them very stressed at that time: they were trying to find something about a certain rock that they knew was different.

Marie: Honey, what have you got so far?

Pierre: Nothing! It's going horrible! We've spent hours of studying and research but we still get stuck in this predicament!

Olmec: But the two scientists never gave up. Eventually, they found an element in the rock and called it "radioactivity", which later became a method to treat cancer. But legend has it, that the Curies were so happy that they had got it that they left the rock in the back of a cupboard, never to be revealed again. Years after they died, the rock ended up in the temple. Your quest is to find the rock, and bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you Olmec, but tell us: where is this rock?

(Camera shows the rock, and zooms out to show its location)

Olmec: The Radioactive Rock can be found...in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey.

Kirk: Okay, the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Now, teams, you are standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about the legend you just heard. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're first, your step will light up. Try it!

(Purple stomps down first)

Now you guys (pointing at the Purple Parrots) answer the question. If you've got it right, you'll move down to the next level. If you're wrong or run out of time, I?m going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec?s Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

Kirk: These two teams will play for the right to enter Olmec?s Temple, and they're gonna do it right after this!

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let?s get to know our team players. On the Silver Snakes, we have Jack. He likes tennis and his favorite subject in school is Science, like Marie Curie! And his partner Elissa likes to play and watch lots of baseball and basketball. Let's hear it for the Red Jaguars!

(Applause)

Kirk: And on the Green Monkeys we have Daniel. He likes running and playing the guitar, and wants to form a rock band. And his partner Tiffany likes listening to pop music and playing football. Let's hear it for the Green Monkeys!

(Applause)

Kirk: Okay you girls might wanna get ready over there, and you boys stay here for the first game. Now this is what's going to happen. In the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant). They need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. And this is temple game number one:

Marie Curie needed to study and compare many rocks, and of course this couldn't be done all at once. Now you're going to have to do the same. Now, when I say go, you guys are gonna crawl through this tunnel and try to carry as many rocks as possible as you run back here, and put them in your bucket. The team with the most rocks at the end of 60 seconds wins!

Alright, we gotta carry some rocks. Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Well, the time is up! Let's check it out over here. The Green Monkeys got two, four, six rocks. The Silver Snakes got wo, four, six, eight, NINE rocks! So that means the Silver Snakes get the half pendant of life! The next game is also worth a half pendant, and here it is!

Marie Curie definetely needed lots of books and scripts for her research, and she had a tough time finding them too! When I say go, you'll run out onto the platform and get a pile of books from the other end, but....beware the boulder! If it hits you, you must drop your pile and get another one. The team with the most books at the end of 60 seconds wins!

Alright. Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay, let's count up now. The Silver Snakes got...two, four, six, eight, ten, thirteen books! The Green Monkeys got...two, five, seven...thirteen books too! Unbelievable! That means they both get a half pendant! The next game is worth a full pendant, and here it is:

Marie Curie had to travel to many different, and sometimes dangerous places during her research. Now you're gonna do the same. When I say go, you have to cross this maze of steps. But if you step on one that sinks, you must start again. When both partners have crossed, that team wins!

Okay lets get started! In position...on your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Ohh!! Silver Snakes got to the end first, meaning they have the full pendant! SO that leaves them with two, and Green have a half...the Silver Snakes are going to the temple!

(Cheers)

We didn't forget about you, Green, you're getting a cool prize too!

(Prizes are announced)

The Silver Snakes are going to Olmec's temple, they're gonna retrieve that rock, right after this!

(camera pans to rock)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. The SIlver Snakes have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec is gonna give us some information on how to retrieve this Radioactive Rock.

Olmec: You could start by running through the Mining Chamber and climbing down into the Pit of Despair. Crawl through the pit, then race into the Chameleon Chamber. Change the color of the right chameleon and you could choose to go up the Lion's Lair, or into the Spider's Lair. If you escape, you may have a chance to enter the Sacred Safari. Find the right key to go upstairs, or plough through the wall and into the Lion Cage. Ride the cage up into the Viper's Nest and pull the snakes from the jars to open the doors to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue and you may be headed for the Vine Drop. Next, race up to the Mouth of the Jaguar. Put the fangs in the mouth and jump back into the Pit. Pass through the Room of the Three Gargoyles, race down the stairs and back through the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good luck!

Kirk: Okay, you guys won two pendants in the temple games, and here they are. Now, who's going first?

Elissa: I am!

Kirk: Okay, now, when I say go, you will race through the gates into the temple and make your way through the temple. But be careful ? the Temple has many locked doors and dead ends. Also hidden in the Temple there are also Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a Temple Guard will jump out and grab you. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Jack's turn to enter and try his luck. If you can reach the letter, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. You?ll have three minutes, and for your efforts you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!

(Prizes announced)

Kirk: Okay, Elissa,  let's get in position! Put your mouthpieces in. Let's put three minutes on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GOO!!!

(Elissa runs straight into the Mining Chamber, where she is greeted with a temple guard)

(She recovers from the shock, and enetrs the Pit with about 2:44 left)

(She then slides down into the Chameleon Chamber, where she is taken out)

(Kirk yells, and Jack retraces his partner's steps and enters the Chameleon Chamber with 2:11 left)

(He lights up the right chameleon with about 1:54 left, and races up into the Lion's Lair. The thrid temple guard grabs him)

(He then enters the Vine Drop with 1:32 left, and tries the actuators! They work and he enters the Shrine)

(1:25 remain as he grabs the Radioactive Rock and races through the Vine Drop)

(He runs up to the Mouth of the Jaguar and jumps into the Pit with about 1:09 left)

(He has a bit of trouble navigating the Mining Chamber, but falls and races out of the gates with a whopping 0:49 left!)

Kirk: They did it! They did it! Unbelievable! 50 seconds left! They did it! They got the rock and made it through, all the way! They got the rock! Congratulations to you all! All the prizes! Whooo! Hey, that was great today, and I'd love to stick around more, but, hey...it's been another great Legend of the Hidden Temple and you'll get more soon! Buh-bye!

(Credits scroll as the camera pans to the open door of the Vine Drop to the Lion's Lair)

Olmec: Hmmmmmm....

Summary:

The layout for the episode was quite simple, but most of the room still had objectives. Elissa wasn't the fastest in Legends history, but did make some progress. When she was taken out in the Chameleon Chamber, then Jack raced in and completed the Chameleon Chamber and up to the time-consuming Lion's Lair. But, surprisingly, he completed it rather quickly. The actuator in the Vine Drop allowed him to the artifact and he raced over the top of the central shaft and back through the Mining Chamber to the temple gates with well over half a minute!

But with that ugly mod side of my post out of the way, I did like this fic. Keep them going, and don't feel afraid to add a bit more detail wherever necessary.

ALSO, review the temple instructions and run post for SEVERAL continuity errors:

1. Since when did the GREEN MONKEYS become the SILVER SNAKES
2. NO HALF-PENDANT required, as they (Silver Snakes JACK and ELISSA) already had 2 FULL PENDANTS
3. Incorrect Artifact reference (during the instructions step)
