Episode 91px]

The camera swerves through a thick rainforest, and after multiple turns, it eventually stops in front of an ancient temple.  The eyes of giant stone head next to the temple gate light up red as he begins to speak:
The show's logo forms as two halves of a Pendant of Life come in from the sides of the screen and merge; the show's name appears above the logo as the camera pans across the entire temple.
"With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is NOW!"

On this final word, Kirk emerges from a thick patch of jungle plants and shrubs, then runs into the foreground and up a wide set of steps to greet the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple.  The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards.  Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures of his temple.  Which one are we gonna hear about today?"

Faint orange lights underneath Olmec turn on, and the camera cuts to a close-up of him as he replies:
"The legend of Demetrius Ypsilanti and the Dame's Diamond Necklace."

"So, the adventure is set, " Kirk says in response as the camera cuts back to him, "and one of these six teams will have a chance to retrieve the Diamond Necklace.  Will it be:
"Daniel and Jessica of the Red Jaguars?" the camera pans to each team in order, their first names briefly appearing at the bottom of the screen?
"Jason and Jen of the Blue Barracudas,
"Michael and Alyssa of the Green Monkeys,
"Tyler and Sarah of the Orange Iguanas,
"Matt and Kylie of the Purple Parrots,
"Or Neil and Kristen of the Silver Snakes?"

"They'll have to pass some physical and mental tests," says Kirk, "but in the end, only one team will get the right to enter Olmec's Temple.  But first, they?ll have to cross the Moat, and here's how they'll have to do it today?
"In front of each team, there's a balance beam that goes across the Moat.  When I say 'Go,' one player from each team will start to walk out and try to make their way to the other side, but if they fall in, they gotta go back and start it over again."
"As soon as the second player jumps down onto the deck, it's his job to run over here and hit the gong." He hits the top button on the Red Jaguars' gong? which lights up red? to demonstrate. "The first four teams to hit their gongs will be going into the next round.  Are you ready, teams?"
"YEAH!" The players all cheer and shout in response.
"Are you ready, Olmec?" asks Kirk.
"This rock is ready to roll!" Olmec replies.
"All right!" Kirk says in response. "On your marks, get set, GO!"

The first players on each team? the boys on the Blue Barracudas, Orange Iguanas and Purple Parrots; and the girls from the other teams? start making their way across the Moat on the balance beams.  They take little time to cross, surprisingly, although the girl on the Red Jaguars and the boy on the Purple Parrots slow down a little to avoid falling into the drink. ?And they gotta? they gotta keep their balance so they can get across! All the teams doing great!? The male Orange Iguana is the first player to reach the other side, closely followed by the girls on the Silver Snakes and Green Monkeys, all less than twenty seconds after the round began.
?These guys are fast! Who?s gonna be first? I think I know!? Twenty-six seconds into the round, the girl on the Orange Iguanas steps off the beam and runs over to hit the gong. ?It?s the Orange Iguanas! We need three more teams?? Not too long thereafter, the boys on the Green Monkeys and Silver Snakes run over to hit their gongs. ?We need one more team!? Near the end, the girl on the Blue Barracudas loses her balance and falls into the Moat, having to go back; this allows the Purple Parrots to lock into fourth. ?And that?s it! We got our four teams right here!?
The camera switches to the Green Monkeys celebrating around their lit-up gong; Kirk high-fives them when he runs onscreen. ?Green Monkeys, up like a shot! They were all fast, they stuck it out, and they?re going on to the Steps of Knowledge, along with the Orange Iguanas?? Kirk holds for applause as the camera briefly shows each winning team? ?and the Purple Parrots? and the Silver Snakes! The Red Jaguars and the Blue Barracudas each gave it a great effort.  We got a great gift for them both for playing and here?s what it is.?
Dee reads the consolation prize:
?Look at the entertaining fun you?ll have when you strap on Moon Shoes! Super excitement is yours when you bounce higher than ever! Don?t leave earth without Moon Shoes, from Big Time Toys!?
Title: Rediscovery EP: Demetrius Ypsilanti and the Dame's...
Post by: The Ancient Warrior on July 12, 2010, 05:03:53 PM
When the camera cuts away from the consolation prize, the four remaining teams are now at the top of the Steps of Knowledge, along with Kirk. "The quest continues, and now it's time for Olmec to tell us about the legend of Demetrius? Yipselanti and the Dame's Diamond Necklace.  But pay attention, teams, because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple."
Olmec begins to tell the legend:

"In the early 1800s, one of the mightiest countries in Europe was the Ottoman Empire, which controlled land as far east as Iraq and as far west as Greece.  But the Greeks were not happy about their nation being controlled by an outside power, and those in Constantinople formed the Phanariots, a band of rebels led by the Ypsilanti brothers, Alexander and Demetrius.
" 'We've cared for this land ourselves for thousands of years!' Demetrius shouted to a crowd. 'We'll never bow to this sultan of yours!'
" 'Yeah! We'll do whatever it takes to set ourselves free!'
"Alexander led the secret Society of Friends to gain underground support, and Demetrius was a general for the Phanariots.  Together, they found a lot of Greek allies which they brought to war against the Ottomans, but legend has it they found themselves outgunned.
" 'It's no use! Demetrius, we can't afford the weapons we need to defend ourselves!'
"The crowd groaned as it retreated, but Demetrius had an idea.
" 'I think I know who can help us, bro.  Don't worry!'
"That night, Demetrius crept out to the mansion of Manto Mavrogenous, a wealthy Greek woman living the city.  He climbed up to her bedroom window and rapped on the glass, and Manto walked over and opened the window to talk.
" 'Well, aren't you the peeping Tom?'
" 'Sorry, but it's urgent!' Manto helped Demetrius climb into the room. 'We can't afford any weapons in the war, and we need more money! Can you help us?'
" 'In that case? Take all the jewels and sell them.  I have way more than I need.'
"Demetrius did just that, and the Greeks won their independence.  However, Demetrius didn't sell ALL the jewels.  He kept Manto's diamond necklace, and gave it back to her as an engagement present.  When they died, the Necklace made its way to the Temple.  Your quest is to find the Dame's Diamond Necklace and bring it back here."

"Thank you Olmec," says Kirk after Olmec finishes telling the legend, "so where is the Diamond Necklace?"
Olmec replies:
"The Dame's Diamond Necklace can be found in the Cannon Room." The camera zooms in on a diamond necklace hung around the cannon in the room, then fades back to Kirk.

"All right.  Teams," Kirk begins, "you're now standing on the Steps of Knowledge, and in a minute, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you.  If you're right, you're gonna move down to the next level, but if you're wrong or run out of time, I'm gonna give the other teams a chance." Kirk starts walking down the steps as he continues. "The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple.  Olmec, we're now ready for your first question."

Olmec begins:
?Which country did Demetrius Ypsilanti help to free: Greece, Turkey or Russia??
Tyler hits the marking first: ?Greece.?
?Nice job, Orange Iguanas, step down!? calls Kirk, and the Orange Iguanas move down to the second step. ?Next question.?

Olmec now asks:
?Was Demetrius Ypsilanti?s brother named: Christopher, Cosmas or Alexander??
Tyler stomps in again: ?Alexander???
?That is correct,? says Olmec in response.
?They step down, and just like that, the Orange Iguanas are already one step away from the Temple Games!? Kirk explains as the Orange Iguanas move down to the third step. ?We?re looking for two teams.  Next question, Olmec.?

Olmec continues:
?Which of these former countries controlled Greece: the Soviet Union, the Ottoman Empire or the Holy Roman Empire??
Matt rings in first: ?The? um, the Otto-Man Empire???
?Correct,? answers Olmec.
?Purple Parrots, step down!? Kirk remarks, and the Purple Parrots nervously move down to the second level. ?Next question, Olmec!?

Olmec asks:
?According to the legend, did the Greek rebels not have enough: Allies, Money for weapons or Inside inf???
A stomp from Tyler interrupts Olmec: ?They? needed money for weapons.?
?That is correct!? shouts Olmec, allowing the Orange Iguanas to jump down onto the bottom step and start celebrating.
?We got our first team for the Temple Games, it?s the Orange Iguanas!? Kirk announces as Tyler and his partner high-five. ?We?re still looking for one more team, who?s it gonna be: the Green Monkeys, the Purple Parrots or the Silver Snakes? Next question.?

Olmec then asks:
?In our legend, did Demetrius enlist the help of: Maria Bochkareva, Manto Mavrogenous or Madame Tuss???
Matt gongs in and hesitantly answers: ?Man-toe? Mav-or-o-genius???
There is a pause.
?That is correct.?
?Tricky pernounce? pronunciation!? Kirk laughs as the Purple Parrots walk down onto the third step. ?Green Monkeys, Silver Snakes can still get in this.  Olmec, next question.?

Olmec?s next question is this:
?Which of these did Manto offer to Demetrius to sell???
Kristen buzzes in: ?Her? diamonds.?
?That is not one of the three choices,? replies Olmec. ?The three choices are: Gold, Dresses and Jewels.?
Michael stomps in and guesses: ?Jewels???
?Correct,? answers Olmec.
?Green Monkeys on the board!? Kirk narrates, and the audience applauds as the Green Monkeys move down onto the second step. ?Silver Snakes, still plenty of time.  Next question.?

Olmec continues:
?According to the legend, did Demetrius give the Diamond Necklace to: A merchant for money, Alexander for his wife or Manto as an engagement gift??
Matt hits the marking first: ?It was an engagement gift for Manto???
?THAT IS CORRECT!? bellows Olmec, and the Purple Parrots hop down beside the Orange Iguanas on the bottom step.  Kirk reappears onscreen and runs up the bottom step between the two teams before the four qualifying players start celebrating with each other.
?We got our two teams going on to the Temple Games!? Kirk declares while running up the step and turning to face the camera. ?They?re the Orange Iguanas and the Purple Parrots! Green Monkeys and the Silver Snakes, c?mon down here.? The Monkeys and Snakes do so, stepping down to levels to meet with Kirk. ?You guys gave it a great effort too, and we got a great gift for you and here?s what it is.? Michael, Alyssa, Neil and Kristen will each be receiving a copy of Astro Boy on DVD.
When the camera cuts away from the consolation prize and back to the Steps of Knowledge, and only Kirk, the Orange Iguanas and Purple Parrots are still present, and all are on the bottom step. ?These two teams are gonna be playing for the right to enter Olmec?s Temple,? he says, ?right after this!? The camera pans out and zooms in on a patch of tropical plants in front of the Bamboo Forest.  Then, the show?s logo reappears and the camera fades to commercial.

When the camera fades back in from the commercials, the show?s titlecard is displayed over a shot of some jungle plants in the foreground of the Bamboo Forest.  The pendant splits, the title shrinks into the distance and shortly after, the camera segues to Kirk and the two remaining teams standing in front of the Pit of Despair.
?Welcome back to Legends,? says Kirk to the camera. ?Now is the time when the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let?s get to know our two teams a bit better.? He turns camera-left to talk to the boy on the Orange Iguanas, an average-sized kid with medium-length dirty blond hair, deep blue eyes and freckles. ?On the Orange Iguanas, we have Tyler.  Tyler, how old are you?? He holds the microphone up to Tyler?s mouth.
?Thirteen,? he replies.
?And I understand you want to be a game designer.  How come??
?Well,? explains Tyler, ?I?m really into video games and my older brother? I?ve seen him program these games on his own website, it?s cool.?
?Maybe you can make one with him sometime,? Kirk suggests before moving further to the left to talk to Tyler?s partner, a brunette with straight shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. ?And your partner here is Sarah.  How old are you, Sarah??
?Twelve,? replies she.
?And it says here you like to draw and paint,? Kirk reads off the index card in his hand. ?What do you like to draw??
?Um? Lots of animals,? explains Sarah, ?tropical rainforests? waves, beaches? I like everything.? She smiles.
?Ooh, nice,? Kirk says. ?This is a creative team! Let?s hear it for the Orange Iguanas!? Tyler and Sarah clap along with the applauding audience, and Kirk goes to the right side of the camera frame to talk with the boy on the Purple Parrots, a short-dark-haired boy with hazel eyes. ?And on the Purple Parrots, we have Matt.  How old are you??
?Thirteen,? he replies when Kirk holds the microphone up to his mouth.
?Now I heard you say you?re all about sports? you play? What do you play? Tell us.?
?Well, um?? Matt lists, ?I play basketball and football a lot, some soccer, some swimming? depends on the time of the year.? He shrugs and laughs.
?All right,? Kirk comments.  He then goes to the far right of the screen to talk to Matt?s slightly shorter partner, a brown-eyed girl with freckles and her wavy dark hair tied back in a ponytail. ?And Kylie, how old are you??
?Twelve,? she answers with a smile.
?And you play the piano, right?? says Kirk. ?How long have you been doing that for??
?Eight years.?
?How?d you get into it??
?Well,? explains Kylie, ?my older sister plays piano too, she showed me a bit when I was little and I thought it was cool so my parents? signed me up for lessons.?
?Ah, very nice,? remarks Kirk. ?Let?s hear it for the Purple Parrots!? The audience applauds once more for the Purple Parrots, and Matt and Kylie clap along with them.

"So you guys ready to play?" asks Kirk.
"YEAH!" answer the teams.
"All right! Then why don't you girls go get set up for the first Temple Game," Kirk says, pointing offscreen somewhere to the left, and Sarah and Kylie walk off in that direction. ?And you guys can go get set up for the second one over there.? Kirk points off to the right, and Matt and Tyler move accordingly before Kirk faces the camera and continues talking. "In the Temple Games, each team is competing for?" he opens a pouch and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? "Pendants of Life.  The winning team's gonna need those Pendants to protect themselves from the DREADED Temple Guards as they make their way through the Temple.  There are three Temple Games, and Olmec? tell us about Temple Game #1."

Olmec begins:
"Demetrius Ypsilanti and the Phanariot rebels needed support from the Greeks in order to fight for their independence, but living in Constantinople, it was tough to avoid the Ottomans at the same time.  Before you stands a series of platforms, and at the other side, a meeting point for the Phanariots.  When Kirk gives the signal, choose a platform and step out onto it.  If the platform sinks, it means you've captured by the Ottomans, and you'll have to run back and then try again.
"The first player to make it to the meeting grounds on the other side? or the player that's further along at the end of 60 seconds? wins."
"So they gotta sneak behind enemy lines," Kirk remarks as the camera segues over to him in front of the equipment for the game. "This is tough! Let's put 60 seconds on the clock." A countdown clock appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and Kirk dashes to the left to avoid being in the way of the camera. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
The game starts off slowly, with Kylie guiding Sarah up through the second correct step, but both make an incorrect choice for the third platform and have to go back (:52).  Shortly after, though, the girls make it a bit further.  Halfway across, with 42 seconds left, Sarah discovers a second path (closer to the camera) which branches off, allowing her to tie the Purple Parrots? score. ?This is a lot of work, you gotta remember where you?re? Orange Iguanas just got ahead!? Sarah is the first to find where the two paths merge again, and Kylie follows her through a couple more steps. ?Could the Orange Iguanas win th? Ohh! She?s gotta go back!? As Kirk says this, Sarah makes the wrong choice two steps away from the end and has to start over with 32 seconds to go.  Kylie, standing on the furthest-back step in the eighth row, chooses the only other possible platform, in the center of the ninth row. ?Purple Parrots need just one more?!? Finally, Kylie chooses the closest step in the final row and sets foot on the far platform with 25 seconds on the clock.
?That?s it! C?mon over!? Kirk calls as he runs onscreen again and the countdown clock disappears.  Kirk meets Kylie at the far side, and Sarah runs over shortly after. ?Purple Parrots stuck it out and they got to the end first, it was tough, but they get the half-Pendant of Life!? The audience cheers for Kylie for a few moments. ?Orange Iguanas can catch up in the next game, it?s worth a half-Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec continues:
"In the Greek Revolution, Demetrius led the Phanariots against a large Ottoman army.  But in this game, you will only need to take down four soldiers.  When Kirk gives the signal, load your slingshot and shoot a cannonball at one of the soldiers sitting on the wall.  Then, load another cannonball in the slingshot and shoot again.
"The first player to knock down all four of the Ottoman soldiers? or the player that knocks over the most soldiers in 60 seconds? wins."
"It's a little one-on-one for our players here," Kirk comments as the camera transitions to him from Olmec. "60 seconds on the clock." The countdown clock reappears in the bottom-right corner of the screen, while a purple half-Pendant appears in the upper-right. "And let me get outta the way? don't wanna get hit by a cannonball." He dashes offscreen to the right. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
Tyler and Matt adjust to shooting with the slingshots fairly quickly; Matt scores first by knocking down his second-from-left target with a full fifty seconds to go.  However, Tyler knocks over his rightmost target immediately after, followed by his second-from-left target with 43 seconds to go. ?Both teams doing great so far, it?s a hot match!? A few seconds later, Matt knocks over his leftmost target as well. ?Two to two!? However, as the boards are being cleared, it?s harder for the players to accurately knock down the remaining targets; cannonballs slip through the holes between targets on many occasions.  Finally, with 23 seconds on the clock, Matt knocks over his rightmost target. ?Purple Parrots need just one more?!? With about ten seconds to go, Tyler hits his second-from-right target, but not hard enough to knock it down. ?Ohh, I thought he had it for a second there!? With five seconds left, however, he knocks down the leftmost target. ?Just one more! Can they get it or will the Purple Parrots go first?? However, neither player hits the last target, and when the clock hits zero, it and the half-Pendant on the screen disappear, and a pattern of ceiling spotlights flashes to indicate the end of the game.
?Time?s up! Let?s see how they did!? Kirk explains as he reappears onscreen and calls the boys over. ?Looks like Orange Iguanas, Purple Parrots, both got three of their soldiers, so they each get a half a Pendant!? The audience applauds again before Kirk continues. ?So the Orange Iguanas have a half Pendant, the Purple Parrots have a full Pendant, but this next game is worth a full Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about the third and final game.?

Olmec narrates:
"According to our legend, Demetrius Ypsilanti managed to get help from the wealthy Manto Mavrogenous, who offered him a collection of jewels which he could sell to finance the war.  But, legend has it they had to transfer the jewels secretly, and that's what you'll do in this game.  When Kirk gives the signal, one player from each team will grab one of the jewels, then both of you will climb up the wall.  Transfer the jewel over the wall, and then climb back down and place it in your bin.  Then, do it again.
"The team that transfers the most jewels in 60 seconds wins."
The camera transitions to Kirk. "This is for the Temple," he says. "Let's put 60 seconds on the clock." The clock appears onscreen; an orange half-Pendant appears in the upper-left corner, a purple full Pendant in the upper-right.  Kirk then backs up and moves out of the camera frame. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
The girls grab the first jewels from the floor around them as soon as Kirk shouts ?Go,? then they and the boys start to climb up the walls. ?This is tricky, they gotta keep climbing and they can?t tell where their partner is, so they might have to wait for ?em?? Tyler makes it up the wall much quicker than does Sarah, but the Purple Parrots make it to the top of their wall around the same time, with 46 seconds to go.  They make the transfer, then start to climb back down. ?And now they gotta climb back down and put it in the bucket? Orange Iguanas a little behind, but can they catch up?? The Orange Iguanas, in fact, are only a few seconds behind the Purple Parrots, but going back down, Tyler moves a little faster than Matt and manages to close the gap.  By the :35 mark, both teams have put their first jewel in the bin and are just starting back up the wall again.  However, with about 28 seconds to go, Kylie loses her grip on the wall and ends up dangling by the bungee cord for a couple seconds.
?Ohh! That could cost the Purple Parrots, let?s see!? Kirk remarks as Kylie tries to swing back towards the wall and recover.  In the meantime, the Orange Iguanas make it to the top of the wall around the same time, with 24 seconds on the clock.  Eight seconds later, they make it back down the wall and score a second time, but the Purple Parrots are not too far behind. ?Orange Iguanas a little ahead, but can they score again?? With ten seconds left, the Orange Iguanas make a third transfer over the wall, the Purple Parrots with seven remaining. ?It?s gonna be close, it?s a race to the bottom!? With two seconds to go, Matt drops the sapphire in his hand, and it misses the bucket.  Tyler places the emerald in his hand in the bucket with one second on the clock.  Immediately after, the ceiling spotlights flash, the clock and Pendants onscreen disappear and Kirk runs out.
?That?s it! That was close!? Kirk comments as he walks over. ?Let?s check it out! Bring over the buckets!? He grabs the buckets for the Orange Iguanas and Purple Parrots. ?Let?s see, Purple Parrots got?? he pulls out a ruby and a diamond? ?one? two jewels.  Orange Iguanas got?? he pulls out a diamond, a topaz and the last-minute emerald? ?one, two? three jewels! The Orange Iguanas are goin? to the Temple!? Sarah squeals in excitement, then jumps up and down with Tyler before Kirk goes over to talk with the Purple Parrots. ?Purple Parrots gave it a gallant effort.  We got a great gift for ?em and here?s what it is.? Matt and Kylie will each be receiving a $100 U.S. Savings Bond provided by Nestle.
When the camera cuts away from the consolation prize, only Kirk and the Orange Iguanas are at the base of one of the walls used in the third Temple Game. ?We?ll see if the Orange Iguanas can make it through Olmec?s Temple, retrieve the Dame?s Diamond Necklace,? says Kirk, ?right after this!? The camera runs to the left and zooms in on the cannon in the Cannon Room, around which the Dame?s Diamond Necklace is wrapped.  The show?s logo reforms over this shot and the camera fades to commercial.

When the camera returns from the second commercial break, the show's logo is partially covering a shot of the Orange Iguanas' torch at the far side of the Moat.  The Pendant of Life splits, the title fades into the distance and the camera segues to Kirk standing in front of the Temple's stairs, to the camera-right of Tyler and Sarah. "Welcome back to Legends," he says to the camera. "The Silver Sna? I mean, the Orange Iguanas have proven themselves worthy and now have earned the right to enter the Temple.  But first, Olmec's gonna give them some information to help them retrieve the Dame's Diamond Necklace."
Olmec begins to give the rundown:
"You could start by running up to the Room of the Ancient Masks.  Push in the correct mask, and pass into the Pit of Despair.  There, you could race up into the Observatory, read the instructions on the far wall with the telescope and follow the instructions to open the door to the Central Dock.  Assemble the ship, and pass into the Den of Totem Poles.  Turn all the faces forward; that may take you below or lead you into the SHRIIIIIIIINE of the Siiiiiiilver Monkey! Assemble the statue, and you may be headed toward the Pirate's Cove! Place the torch in the correct holder to go back, or spin the ship's wheel and enter? the Graveyard of Ships.
"Stand on the correct grave to go upstairs? but beware the Temple Guard that might be haunting one of the graves! Or, plow through the wall and into the Viper's Nest.  Reach into the snake jars and find the key, and you'll enter the Bamboo Forest! If you escape, you might have a chance to enter the Cannon Room, where you can grab the Dame's Diamond Necklace.  Then, pass through the Pit and finally climb through the Cave, rrrrace down the STAIRS and back through the Temple Gate.  The choices are yours and yours ALONE!" Olmec pauses for a second. "You won 1 ? Pendants in the Temple Games.  Who's going first?"
"I am," says Tyler.
"Very well, Tyler!" replies Olmec as Kirk hands out the Pendants of Life. "When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the Temple and make your way towards the Necklace.  Hidden inside the Temple are three secret passages that may lead you into the Bamboo Forest, as well as Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms.  You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on BUT? if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Sarah's turn to enter and try her luck.  Hidden somewhere in the Temple is the other half of your Pendant.  If you can find it and you're carrying the other half, you will get an extra life.  If you can reach the Necklace, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards? will vanish.  Return through the gates with the Dame's Diamond Necklace in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!"
?   For just getting into the Temple, they're both going to get a skateboard provided by Vans.
?   If they can grab the Necklace in three minutes, they're also going to get an Xzibit Video Game Rocker, provided by Dreamseat.
?   And if they can get the Necklace out of the Temple before three minutes is up, they'll both be going to the Bahamas! The Bahamas Princess Resort, on exciting Grand Bahama Island, offering tennis, swimming and international entertainment.  Fun for the whole family, from the Bahamas Princess Resort!

"The Bahamas! Sounds great!" Kirk says before turning to Sarah. "So, Sarah, tell us: How're you gonna get to the Necklace?"
"Um, we're just gonna? go down into the Cave," she says, gesturing to the rooms as she speaks, "then we're gonna go through the Pit? then we're gonna? hopefully we're gonna get in, get the Necklace and get out, but if that doesn't work, we're just gonna go up and try going a different way."
"And hopefully you'll get the Necklace and out and you'll get the Bahamas vacation," Kirk says with a smile, to which Sarah nods.  Kirk then turns to Tyler. "All right, Tyler, you're going in first, so let's get you in front.  Put your mouthpieces in.  Olmec, lower your gate!"
Olmec groans gutturally as he lowers the gate; the faint orange lights under him are turned off.
"Set the clock for three minutes." The clock appears onscreen. "On your mark, get set, GO!"

?There goes Tyler, up into the Temple!? Kirk announces as Tyler starts up the steps. ?They got a Pendant and a half, and there he slides down, into the Ledges!? Tyler has a bit of a hard time squeezing through the ledges of the Cave, but eventually he makes it down to the lower crawl tube and hits the actuator for the lower crawl tube leading into the Pit of Despair. ?He?s into the crawl tube, and moving on! Tyler?s strong!? Tyler crawls down through the tube and slides into the Pit of Despair with 2:39 on the clock.  He promptly walks over to try the direct actuator for the Cannon Room, but the door does not open (2:33). ?He?s gotta climb up? he wanted to go left, but he?s gotta go up first!? Tyler looks for a path to the upper ledge on the left wall of the Pit, so that he can try either of the other doors.  It takes him a while to make it up there using the handholds, however. ?He?s having trouble climbing, but he?s hanging in there? that?s why they?re here, folks!? Tyler hoists himself up and over the ledge after roughly fifteen seconds of climbing, and hits the actuator for the Central Dock door, which does respond.  He then crawls through and enters the Central Dock with 2:14 remaining.
?Go Tyler!? Sarah struggles to call from the foreground, but she sounds a bit quiet or out-of-breath.
?Now he?s gotta put the ship together? and hopefully the door?s gonna open underneath!? Tyler gathers the two masts at the same time and places them in position in the ship (2:06); he then goes back for the crow?s nest and places that as well with exactly two minutes to go.  With a brief flash of light, the sheet-like door in the back of the room shoots up, revealing the ladder leading up into the Observatory.  Tyler looks around for a moment before starting to climb up.  He sets foot in the room after a few seconds, but as he goes over to the telescope, someone approaches him from behind?
?TEMPLE GUARD!? shouts Kirk as Tyler turns around, startled by the guard (1:50). ?He?s gotta give him the Pendant!? Tyler takes a couple seconds to get the Pendant of Life off his wrist, but finally hands it over to the Temple Guard and goes over to the telescope again, starting to focus it. ?He?s gotta check out the writing on the wall?? The camera cuts to a shot of the writing on the wall? ?Spin Saturn and Venus?? before cutting back to Tyler taking his eye off the telescope (1:40). ?I think he knows what to do now!? Tyler spins the Venus model on the camera-left altar in the front of the room, then the Saturn model on the right altar.  The two other doors leading out of the room both open, and Tyler goes down the staircase into the Den of Totem Poles with a little more than ninety seconds to go.
?Next time a Temple Guard gets him, it?ll be turn for Melissa!? Kirk comments as Tyler looks around in the Den of Totem Poles. ?He?s gotta line up the faces to open a door?!? Tyler takes a look at the camera-right totem pole, and starts lining up its three faces, making them face the other totem pole.
?Nope! No, you gotta?? Kirk struggles to explain when Tyler finishes with that totem pole and goes to the other with 1:20 on the clock. ?Point them at the front of the room!? Tyler looks back at Kirk, turning away from the stage-left totem pole (1:16). ?The front of the room!? Tyler goes back to the totem pole he?s working on, then starts turning the faces towards the foreground.  When he finishes with that pole, he runs over to the Shrine door with 1:07 remaining. ?Gotta finish the other one!? Tyler goes back to the right totem pole and slightly adjusts the faces to match.  He completes the room objective with exactly a minute to go and moves on.
?All right, now he?s into the Shriiiiine of the SIIIIIIIL-ver Monkey!? announces Kirk, and the audience starts cheering louder. ?With a minute left! Can he do it all by himself??
?C?mon?!? Sarah calls from the sidelines.
?He?s gotta get three pieces and put the monkey together? he?s gotta get the base first!? Kirk remarks as Tyler puts the torso on the pedestal upside-down (0:51).  He moves a small, wedge-shaped object? the other half of Sarah?s Pendant? out of the way, then tries placing the torso again. ?He?s gotta get the base first!? Tyler finally hears Kirk this time, and goes over to grab the base off the shelf (0:47).  He takes the torso off the platform, then puts the base on the pedestal first and properly places the torso over it with forty seconds to go. ?Now he?s gotta go back for the head?!? He scrambles up onto the back shelf, grabs the head and brings it back to the front of the room before placing it in the statue and jamming it down (0:33).  The vertical passage does not open, so Tyler heads into the Pirate?s Cove? where a second Temple Guard appears immediately, removing Tyler with thirty seconds on the clock.
?Oh, Temple Guard! Go Sarah!? Kirk shouts, and Sarah launches into the Temple. ?She?s gotta run like the wind now?!? Sarah slides down into the Cave with 23 seconds to go, and climbs up towards the higher crawl tube which Tyler did not use earlier on (0:16!).  She hits the actuator, and scrambles through into the Pit of Despair with twelve seconds to go. ?Into the Pit of Despair? she?s gotta move!? Sarah stands up on the ledge in the Pit, using an indent in the wall for leverage (0:10!!).  She then walks over to the balance-beam-like planks connecting the two ledges of the room and chooses the one further back in the room; she walks across this and heads through the Observatory door as the audience counts down the last seconds of the run.  She makes it up the stairs into the Observatory with one second on the clock, but time expires there.
?Oh! Time ran out in the Observatory, she tried to make it but there wasn?t enough time!? laments Kirk, Tyler by his side. ?Tyler cleared out a major path, and they both gave it a great effort.  They still get the skateboard package, and we gotta get outta here? Here comes Sarah now!? The camera cuts to Sarah running down the stairs from the Room of the Ancient Masks and arriving where Kirk and Tyler are. ?I don?t wanna, but we gotta get outta here.  Join us again next time for more adventure and another great Legend of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!? The three wave at the camera, and different views of the Moat, the Den of Totem Poles and the Cannon Room are shown as the credits roll.

Episode Summary
Episode 91px]

Name of Artifact: The Dame's Diamond Necklace
Season: 3
Layout: 2 (12 overall)
Result: Failed acquisition
Team: Orange Iguanas
Pendants Won: 1 ?
Location of Artifact: The Cannon Room

A very average Season 3 episode, in my opinion.  It seemed like every other episode in the season featured an artifact in the central shaft and/or a faceoff between the Orange Iguanas and Purple Parrots in the Temple Games, and this episode featured both.  Unfortunately, the Temple Run wasn't anywhere near as successful as "The Heart Shaped Locket of Elisabeth of Bavaria" (Layout XI), which also fit both criteria.

The run was very reminiscent of "The Entrails-Stained Crown of William the Conqueror" (Season 1, Layout II) in that the male frontrunner started low in hopes of getting straight into the bottom room of the central shaft, but was forced to take a time-consuming climb and was taken out in his seventh room with a disappointing thirty seconds to go.  The difference, however, was that Sarah seemed smarter than her partner? she used the upper crawl tube in the Cave rather than the lower one (allowing her to walk along the beams in the Pit of Despair without climbing the walls) and went directly up to the Observatory without going into the Central Dock.  However, time ran out there.  A strategy like that, combined with a better speed, would've been necessary for the team to at least grab the Diamond Necklace, as this was a difficult run.

Trivia and Records:
This was the first time in The Rediscovery's history that a team used both crawl tubes leading left from the bottom entrance room (this is partly because the Pit of Despair in Season 3 was the first pit room that allowed access to both crawl tubes).

Another team completely screwed over by trying to take the direct path to the artifact.

Great job!

Will my Orange Iguanas EVER win in "The Rediscovery" again?

Of course, sir! :P It'd be too harsh to only have them log wins in one season out of three.  You may have to wait patiently for the next win, though? keep in mind that the Green Monkeys didn't win at all until almost a third of the way into Season 2.

I felt like it'd be too much of a coincidence to make one of their first appearances in the season a win (even if that actually happened in the real show for a few teams).
