The Dark Forest / Connecticut Elementary School shooting, at least 25 dead
« on: December 14, 2012, 02:02:29 PM »
Holy shit. Some sick wacko opened fire at an elementary school in Connecticut this morning and killed at least 25 people, the majority being students at the school:

R.I.P. to the victims and thoughts and prayers to their families.

This is worse than Columbine!

The Dark Forest / Hurricane Sandy
« on: October 26, 2012, 05:13:45 PM »
Oh boy, this could be a big one. The way the models continue to trend, this could be a historical storm. Flooding rains on one side, blizzard on the other. There's already been a state of emergency declared where I live, and isn't even expected to hit here until Tuesday or Wednesday. Hope all of you east coast (US) members are OK!

The Steps of Knowledge / Downtime
« on: October 01, 2012, 10:29:50 AM »
Apologies for the downtime the last two days. The board's host's hard drive was failing, so they had to replace it. I assume the time it took to do so was because it was the weekend.

EDIT: Just realized that the server switch screwed up the time on the board. Thankfully a minor issue. Just go the Look and Layout screen to fix it.

EDIT: Official explanation for the downtime:

The Heart Room / Legends episodes on iTunes!
« on: June 12, 2012, 05:28:34 PM »
Yes, you read that right! Nick has added some S1 episodes of Legends to the iTunes Store, as well as Figure it Out (both old and new) and Global GUTS. They are available for purchase separately ($1.99 each) or in a single volume ($5.99). Unfortunately, all of the episodes available, except for one, are downright some of the worst episodes in the history of the show! Here's the full list:

Blackbeard's Treasure Map (Episode 101)
Wild Bill Hickok and the Dead Man's Hand (Episode 104)
John Henry's Lost Hammer (Episode 105)
The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan (Episode 106)
Elizabeth I's Golden Ship (Episode 107)
The Star of Sultan Saladin (Episode 109)
The Keys to the Alhambra (Episode 110)

Just the mere presence of Legends, GUTS, and FiO on there is exciting, though (at least for Legends) could they pick some better episodes? And adding Double Dare would be great, too.

NOTE: The (Episode ###) part is what each episode is called in iTunes.

We have threads for some of the other major sports leagues, so why not? :P

Still kind of bummed that my Sabres didn't make the playoffs, but there's always next year.

Tapatalk Forum App provides super fast on-the-go forum access to discussion forums that has activated the Tapatalk plugin, including ours. Here are some screens (note that the screens aren't of our forum, but it's still the same general design):

The Treasure Room / Make your own episode!
« on: November 28, 2011, 08:31:32 PM »
And all you need are a few generators from Random dot Org! I'll go through it round by round.

1. The Moat

This one's easy. Just place all of the team names (starting with the Red Jaguars and ending with the Silver Snakes) into the List Randomizer and randomize it. The first four teams listed move on to the Steps of Knowledge.

Alternately, use the list randomizer with two entries for each team. First four teams to have both of their entries listed move on to the steps.

2. The Steps of Knowledge

Same as the Moat, but without the two teams that were eliminated there. Top two teams advance to the Temple Games.

Also, use the Random Integer Generator to determine how many questions the two losing teams answered correctly.

Alternately, use the list randomizer with three entries for each team that made it this far. First two teams to have all three of their entries listed move on to the temple games.

3. The Temple Games

This one's easy, too. For each temple game, use the Dice Roller (roll two dice) to determine the result. Higher number gets the half/full pendant, and if the numbers are the same, both teams get the half/full pendant. In the event of a tie in pendants, roll again for the tiebreaker.

4. The Temple Run

This one's probably the most complex, if just for the amount of things you need to determine (though some only come into play depending on the amount of pendants the winning team has), although they all use the Random Integer Generator. I'll simplify it with a list, note that 1 = the first room going counterclockwise from the top rightmost room that can fit the criteria, and so on, going counterclockwise.

Artifact Location: 1 to 9
Guard Locations (3 integers): 1 to 10 (1 to 9 if the Jesters' Court is in play, unless it's the location of the artifact)
Half-Pendant Location: 1 to 12 (Only needed if the team has 1.5 pendants)
Half-Pendant Acquired: 1 to 2 (1 = Yes, 2 = No; Only needed if the team has 1.5 pendants)
Player Speed/Intelligence (2 integers and 2 randomizations): 1 to 10 (left number is speed, right number is intelligence)

Outcome: 1 to 3 if team has 2 pendants, 1 to 4 if team has fewer than 2 pendants

1 = Victory, 2 = Reached Artifact, 3 = Out of time, 4 = Guards (only applicable if the team has fewer than two pendants, and, if they have 1.5 pendants, didn't find the half pendant)

The Temple Games / 24-hour window?
« on: November 19, 2011, 10:28:27 PM »
I think that in order to cut down on "bump"s, and to prevent the games from becoming inactive, if a new list/puzzle/question/whatever hasn't been posted in over 24 hours, anyone can go. Any objections?
