Sultan Saladin, easily. Galileo is overrated and I don't care what anyone says. It's my opinion and no one is gonna change it.

I actually just watched both of these the other day. Vote for Sultan Saladin here!

This is a tough choice for me. I love both of these episodes and they were some of the best episodes in Season 1.  :mrsilver: Galileo is my all time favorite Silver Snakes episode though, so I am going to vote for it. It was a very entertaining and solid episode all the way through. It might not have the best production quality as later episodes, but that is part of the charm for this episode. I loved all the early quirks of this episode. From the ridiculous line about Galileo dropping the cannonballs on sandwiches to make pizza, to the temple performance by the Silver Snakes make this a fun episode. And Jammin John was a great contestant and I love the ending.  :mrsilver: Sultan Saladin was a great episode too and I enjoy it a lot. However, I just didn't find the earlier rounds as memorable as Galileo. This was close, but I love Galileo more. ;)  :mrsilver:

Quite frankly, I don't see what the problem is with Galileo. It was an excellent temple run, and that's why I voted for it. It's asking too much and exaggerating to call them "the most overrated team on the show." They're underrated, nobody ever talks about them. Can someone please back me up on this? I love Galileo, and I'm not gonna hate it just because everyone else likes it.

I really enjoy both episodes equally, but I just enjoyed Sultan's temple run more which is why it got my vote. This was as close to 50-50 for me as any of these matchups have been so far.

And I want to add this too. It's asking too much to expect these early Season 1 players to know the temple like the back of their hand. The way Jammin' Jon handled those rooms, easy or not, was honestly, very impressive for a first ever temple run. Obviously there were some kinks to smooth out. I'd much rather see Jammin' Jon in the temple than the utterly boring wins like Tall Turban, Genghis Khan, and Dr. Livingstone. Where the players were just average at best. This hate seemed to come out of nowhere. I mean, nobody talks about it at all. Jammin' Jon is underrated, and he deserves all the praise he gets. Him and Jennifer deserve to win and I happen to think this was a wonderful episode. I'm sure others, like TRJ, will agree with me on this too.

EDIT: Chart is up.

Galileo is indeed an amazing episode, and it has been my favorite Silver Snakes episode since I first watched it. The awkwardness of the overall episode is part of Galileo's charm. ;) Like the "You must find one of Galileo's cannonballs and bring it back to its rightful owner line" and how flat Kirk sounds in the temple. I am not calling it the best episode ever, but I don't really consider it overrated. As PPF mentioned, Jammin John and Tia handled their layout very well considering what they went through including being the first temple team ever and the malfunctioning Mine Shaft elevator. I don't expect this episode to have a high production value like the last day of Season 3, and it is understandable if the Silver Snakes had their moments. Luckily, Galileo is highly praised on this forum by many. ;)

I hope that makes sense. I am not saying that everyone should vote for Galileo, but I don't feel like it is overrated. People praise because it was a solid episode despite being on the first day ever. At least the temple run didn't turn out like Wild Bill Hickok where it was riddled with production errors. But if Sultan Saladin wins too, I don't mind at all.  :mrsilver:

It's Jennifer TRJ, NOT Tia. You might want to fix that.

And I agree, I like Galileo for its quirkiness, and for Kirk's flatness throughout the episode. This was the first temple run, and Jammin' Jon and hell even Jennifer handled their layout just fine. I don't know if this is a sudden thing, but Galileo is underrated and is not nearly as talked about as other wins on the show. I thought it was an excellent temple run, and Jammin' Jon deserved to win, easy layout or not. :mrsilver:

Well, seeing as how Galileo is not currently up against any of those runs, what does that matter?

Well, it looks like Galileo pulled through! This was a close match-up though, and I would've loved to see both episodes advance. Too bad Sultan Saladin didn't get paired with Trojan Horseshoe or Mush Pot Hat, or else it would advance for sure.  ;)

Yup, Galileo gets to advance. I'll be more than happy to praise Jammin' Jon, since he's really not talked about here. I'm sure you'll do the same. ;)

No, I won't. I hope it gets blown out in the next round. Now that I've said that, you'll probably pick it just to troll me. Fuck this episode for knocking out Sultan Saladin, which is truly miles better than Galileo.

It's going against Lucky Pillow, so the Cannonball will stop rolling.

I know, and that's good.

Honestly, this result has me so pissed off right now. I don't think I'll be playing anymore because of this atrocity. Have fun with the rest of this contest, guys. I most certainly won't.

Do what you want, because I'm still gonna be a Galileo fan 'til the end. Even if it won't win, I'm just glad it made it far.

Just remember guys that we are in the final 32 episodes right now. That means we literally have almost 1/4 of the episodes remaining. I find it hard to believe that someone wanting to vote for one episode over an other a troll vote at this point. It is not like someone picked Golden Cricket Cage over Sultan Saladin. Either Sultan Saladin or Galileo wasn't going to advance. Just because one doesn't advance doesn't mean you are wrong for picking it. Sultan Saladin just met its match this round. From here on out, some of these match-ups will not be unanimous. That's just how I see it. ;)

Plus, Sultan Saladin DID get three votes, so it's not like the results were completely lop sided. Neither episode was gonna win against Lucky Pillow anyways. So both episodes were doomed from the start. This hate for one episode was just so sudden and out of the blue, but that doesn't mean you can't vote for it. It's not the end all be all and it's not that big of a deal.

And the end of the day, it is just the luck of the draw what episodes get to face each other. I mean I would say that it is an accomplishment that Sultan Saladin even made it this far. It could've faced a juggernaut episode in day one and not even past the first round. I don't think you should stop voting because of one episode you liked didn't advance, PP319. I mean I am sure there are other episodes you want to make it far in this competition and your vote might matter whether they advance or not. Same thing for everybody here. Please don't stop playing because of one outcome. The best part of these tournaments are the later rounds. ;)

Yeah, I'm sorry if I upset you. I don't want you to be mad at me because of one thing I said. And I hope you're not mad at me either, TRJ. Since I pretty much dragged you into this. Really TRJ, I hope you're not angry with me. Because this is more my fault, and I should take more blame. I'm not a very compassionate person like you are, and I need to work on that. :(

I am not mad at anyone. ;) Believe me, I have hosted and participated in a lot of tournaments over the years. I hate to see people give up on them and then later regret not voting in other match-ups. I just wanted to point out that it is not worth quitting when we made it this far. And truth be told, Galileo won't get past Annie Taylor anyways.  ;)

If we all know that Lucky Pillow is going to win, then why bother having the match at all? It seems rather pointless and would be a waste of time.

Maybe because Lawrence of Arabia or Apanuugpak may take the title instead? Apanuugpak took the win when TRJ did these tourneys.

Sorry if I'm ruining the fun for everyone. I just like the Sultan Saladin episode, A LOT. You all know how I feel about Galileo. Just for the record, I don't think it's a bad episode. To me, it's one of those episodes that's just there. It didn't excite me like it did to everyone else. I'll just blame Kirk's lack of enthusiasm and move on.

It's the same reason why we had a matchup for Golden Cricket Cage/Billy the Kid and Snow Cone/Nostradamus in the first place. It is simply because one episode has to advance over the other. One thing I find interesting about these tournaments is not only about finding the best episode, but also how far certain episodes advance too.

I wasn't actually sure who I was going to pick as well because I was 50-50, then I leaned toward Galileo for more excitement, a close win, and Jammin Jon. Now if I had went Sultan Saladin instead, then this would have been a tie and this poll gets added a day.

Also, this tourney was for fun. It's not like I'm awarding $250,000 or something really nice for a prize, but it is not a big deal. I even had picked some episodes and I was all alone earlier in the Opening Round.
Title: Re: GLET Day 94-Round of 32: Galileo vs Sultan Saladin

Yeah, and there were a lot more questionable episodes (ie Sacagewea) that advanced when they didn't deserve it. Once this thing is over, nobody is gonna even talk about this tourney. Just like nobody talks about the tourney TRJ did a while back.

Anyways, this lasted much longer than it should've. Like I said, I want to lock this thread. But I guess we can keep this open and let the thread die once and for all. Besides, we have a new tourney up right now. Which I'm pretty sure has its maximum votes right now.

I can go and delete some posts if you want. Since you're right, a topic like this does NOT need a third page. I even think 14-15 posts to a topic like this is too much, let alone over 30. Do you want me to delete most, if not all the posts after your winner announcement? I won't do it if you don't want me too, but it will certainly clean up this topic.
