The Legend:
KIRK:
As your quest continues, it?s now time for Olmec to tell us about the Poisonous Cake of Rasputin. But pay attention guys, your knowledge may bring you a step closer to Olmec?s Temple.
OLMEC:
Near the end of the Tsarist rule of Russia, an evil adviser by the name of Rasputin served as an aide to Tsar Nicholas II. Many people believe that he had the power to not only heal the Tsar?s illnesses, but also was able to hypnotize him into obedience. His actions earned him the nickname ?The Mad Monk.? Other advisors to the Tsar became suspicious of his deeds.
YUSUPOV:
Pavlovich! I suspect that Rasputin is a witch. We must burn him.
PAVLOVICH:
How do you know he is a witch, Yusupov?
YUSUPOV:
He turned me into a newt!
PAVLOVICH:
A newt?
YUSUPOV:
? I got better. OK, maybe he didn?t. But how do you explain his curing of the Tsar?s son?s hemophilia? Or how he somehow convinced the country to enter the World War?
PAVLOVICH:
You?re right. Those can?t be coincidences. We must get rid of him before he takes over all of Russia. Let?s meet at your house tonight, and we?ll get him.
OLMEC:
That night, Yusupov prepared a piece of cake and a bottle of wine laced with enough cyanide to kill ten men. He ate half the cake, and drank most of the wine, but didn?t die.
YUSUPOV:
He?s still alive! That?s impossible!
PAVLOVICH:
He is a witch! Enough of this secrecy; just shoot him.
OLMEC:
Yusupov shot Rasputin in the back, and watched him fall to the floor.
YUSUPOV:
And now, I shall incautiously walk over to the surely deceased body to check his pulse, positive that he is in fact dead.
OLMEC:
Rasputin grabbed Yusupov by the throat and threw him to the other side of the room, acting as if nothing had happened. Before Rasputin could flee the room, Pavlovich fired three more shots into Rasputin?s back. Rasputin was wounded, but still alive. The two men proceeded to beat Rasputin with fireplace pokers. Assured he was now dead, they wrapped him in a blanket and threw him into the icy Neva River. Days later, coroners found the body with his arms reaching above his head. An autopsy was performed, and the cause of death was found to be drowning. He was not only alive when dumped in the river, but he would have survived had the top not been frozen.
PAVLOVICH
Well, that was scary, but at least he?s dead. Nothing bad will ever happen to the Tsar Nicholas II again. Nosiree?
OLMEC:
The Cake Rasputin never finished eating was saved as a reminder of the horrible evening, and it has found its way into the temple. Your quest is to find it and bring it back here.
KIRK:
Thank you, Olmec. Tell us, where is this poisoned cake?
OLMEC:
The Poisoned Cake of Rasputin can be found in The Dungeon.
The Steps of Knowledge:
