Episode 4: ?The Royal Septor of Isis?

*the camera zooms in on an ancient lush jungle, the palms are moving away as an elephant is heard*

*all the palms are gone, showing Olmec*

Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple. With your guide? Kirk Fogg!

*Kirk is shown slidding down a zipline & jumping off into the usual area*

Kirk: Thank you everyone. Thank you Olmec. Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are The rooms are filled with lost treasures protected by mysterious Mayan temple guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The Royal Septor of Isis.

Kirk: The Royal Septor of Isis! Well, one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the Sandal. Will it be *camera zooms into each team as they cheer & the usual* The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They?re going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec?s temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and Olmec will tell us how they?ll have to do it today.

Olmec: Each team will have 1 rope. There will be a small "island" (platform) in the middle. On go, one player will swing out to the middle of the island. They will pull a hanging chain, which will release a hooked bridge that was attached to the bottom. Than, you'll walk across the bridge to the other side. Than you're partner will swing across & walk across the bridge to ring the gong *Kirk bangs the Silver Snakes? gong*. The first four teams to hit their gong will go on to the next round.

Kirk: Alright, teams are you ready?!

*the teams cheer*

Kirk: Olmec, are you ready?!

Olmec: Oh yeah!

Kirk: On your marks? get set? GO!!!!!

*all 6 first players swing out & fail miserably*

*after they try again & only the Silver Snakes make it across & they pull the chain & walk across*

*the 5 first players & 1 second player try again*

*Silver Snakes make it across & bang the gong, while all players fall in the water*

*they try again & the Orange Iguanas & Green Monkeys make it across*

*the Green Monkeys make it across the bridge, but Orange falls*

*the 4 first players & 1 second player swing across*

*the Green Monkeys & Red Jaguars make it across*

*Green Monkeys bang the gong while Red Jaguars cross the bridge*

*Red Jaguars, Orange Iguanas, & Purple Parrots fall in the swing, but Blue Barracudas make it across*

*on the next swing, Red Jaguars & Blue Barracudas make it across & bang the gong, Blue Barracudas first*

Kirk: Wow, that was a long moat! Going onto the Steps of Knowledge are the Silver Snakes! & the Green Monkeys! & the Blue Barracudas! Also, the Red Jaguars! Orange Iguanas & Purple Parrots, you guys couldn?t make it this far, but you?ll still be going home with a gift! *Olmec explains prize*

*the camera changes to the four dry teams on the top of the Steps of Knowledge*

Kirk: As the quest continues, it?s now time for Olmec to tell us about the Royal Septor of Isis. Bur before we get started, pay attention, because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to Olmec?s Temple.

Olmec: One of the most well known Egyptian gods is Isis. Wife of Osiris & mother of Horus, her name literally means ?female of the throne?, & she showed that. The emblem around her head was that of a throne. She juggled the activities of being queen of the gods, and taking care of her son, Horus. She might have been a sweet loving mother, but she was as tough as nails. One person tried to kill Horus, so there would be no heir to the throne, but she took care of him.

Isis: How dare you try to kill him!

Killer: I want to lead the throne, not your silly son, & he?s gonna die for that!

Isis: Never!

Olmec: & with that, Isis took her royal septor & struck the person on the head.

Killer: Ouch! Agh, now I know never mess with Isis!

Olmec: Isis & Horus treasured the royal septor, but one day, Isis lost the septor & it made it?s way to the Temple. Your quest is to retrieve the Royal Septor of Isis & bring it back here!

Kirk: & where might the Royal Septor of Isis be, Olmec?

Olmec: The Royal Septor of Isis can be found in the Ladder of Doom!

Kirk: OK. Teams: you are standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about today?s legend. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. Go ahead, stomp on it!

*Silver Snakes hit the step*

Kirk: OK, Silver, since you rang in first, you would be able to answer. If you?re right, you?ll move down to the next level. If you?re wrong or run out of time, I?m going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level *Kirk runs down there* will be one step closer to Olmec?s Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for the first question.

Olmec: Was Isis one of the most well known: Roman gods, Egyptian gods, or Greek gods?

Green Monkeys: Egyptian gods!

Olmec: That is correct!

*Green Monkeys move down a step*

Olmec: Was Isis? son named: Hortus, Horcus, or Horus?

Silver Snakes: Hortus!

*the audience laughs*

Olmec: Incorrect!

Red Jaguars: Horus!

Olmec: That is correct!

*Red Jaguars move down a step*

Olmec: Isis had an emblem around her head? The emblem was: A moon, a throne, or a star?

Silver Snakes: A moon!

Olmec: Incorrect!

Blue Barracudas: A star!

Olmec: That is correct!

*Blue Barracudas move down a step*

Olmec: Isis? wife was: Osiris, Syrus, or Clyde?

Red Jaguars: Osiris!

Olmec: That is correct!

*Red Jaguars move down a step*

Kirk: Red Jaguars, one more correct answer & you move onto the Temple Games.

Olmec: Is Egypt located in: Africa, Asia, or Australia?

Red Jaguars: Africa!

Olmec: That is correct!

*Red Jaguars move down to the bottom*

Kirk: Red Jaguars, you are the first team to move on. One more team can make it. Blue Barracudas? Green Monkeys? Or the Silver Snakes?

Olmec: Isis? name means: Female of the throne, male of the throne, or is squared?

Green Monkeys: Female of the throne!

Olmec: That is correct!

*Green Monkeys move down*

Kirk: Green Monkeys, one more correct answer!

Olmec: Is the ruler of Egypt the: king, pharaoh, or dictator?

Green Monkeys: Pharaoh!

Olmec: That is correct!

*Green Monkeys move down by the Red Jaguars*

Kirk: Blue Barracudas, you knew that one. Silver Snakes, come on down here! You guys fought hard, but came up a bit short. Don?t worry, you won?t be leaving empty handed. Here?s what you win for your efforts. *Olmec explains prize*

Kirk: *only Red Jaguars & Green Monkeys are present* These two teams will be playing for the right to enter Olmec?s Temple & they?ll do it right after this!

Kirk: Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let?s find out a little about our teams. On the Purple Parrots we have Troy, who likes to run & lift weights. His partner is Olympia, who likes to play soccer & shop! On the Red Jaguars, we have Tom. He likes to read & wants to work for the government when he grows up. He is paired up with Diana, who likes to cook & also wants to work for the government! What a coincidence! But on the Green Monkeys is Maia. She likes write & wants to be a teacher in her future. Her partner is Shawn, who likes to camp & he wants to be a doctor when he grows up! Let?s here it for the teams! Now, girls get ready for the first Temple Game, guys get ready for the second. Okay, go get ready for the Temple Games, I?m going to explain what?s gonna happen. Teams are competing in temple games to win: Pendants of Life. *shows two pendants* They?re going to need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. Olmec, tell us about temple game number one.

Olmec: Isis was very protective about her septor. Now, you?ll have to take care of your own septors! Crawl out (while being pulled by a bungee cord) & grab the first septor! Than slide back & put the septor in the bucket. Keep doing this & try to get all 4 septors. The first person to get all 4 septors, or the person who gets the most septors at the end of 60 seconds wins.

Kirk: It?s a battle for the throne! On your marks? get set? GO!!!!!

*Diana & Maia are both crawling & they both get the first septor in the bucket with 0:52 left*

*Maia starts to take a lead to the second septor, but slips & gets pulled back*

*Diana gets the second septor with 0:39 left*

*Maia gets the second septor with 0:30 left*

*Diana gets the third septor with 0:26 left*

*Maia is trying to get her third septor & Diana her fourth & both are holding their positions so they don?t slide back*

*Maia slips & Diana tries to go for the fourth septor*

*Diana reaches for the septor & grabs it, but lets go of it before she gets back to the bucket*

Kirk: Time! Red Jaguars had 1? 2? 3 septors! Green Monkeys had 1? 2 septors! Red Jaguars win the ? Pendant of Life! Don?t worry, the Green Monkeys can come back in the second Temple Game. Olmec, tell us about it!

Olmec: The Egyptians built the pyramids as ancient burial grounds. Now, it?s your turn to build a pyramid! On go, climb up the rock wall & grab the base of the pyramid. Climb down & put it on the floor. Then go up & get the second piece. When you get back down, put it on top of the first piece. The first person to get all 6 pieces of the pyramid in the correct order, or whoever has the most pieces at the end of 60 seconds wins.

Kirk: This is exactly how the Egyptians did it? not! On your marks? get set? GO!!!!!

*Tom & Shawn are climbing up the wall & Shawn gets the first piece on the bottom with 0:47 left, when Tom gets it with 0:44*

*Shawn gets more of a lead & gets the second piece on with 0:35 left, when Tom gets it with 0:31 left*

*Shawn gets down with his third piece with 0:09 seconds left*

*Tom gets down, but can?t get his piece on in time*

Kirk: TIME! Green Monkeys got 1? 2? 3 in the correct position! Red Jaguars got 1? 2 in the correct position! Green Monkeys win the ? Pendant of Life! It?s tied a ? Pendant apiece, it comes down to the final Temple Game. Olmec, tell us about it!

Olmec: Isis & Horus were a team to be reckoned with. In this game, one of you will be Horus, the other Isis. Horus will stand on a platform & Isis will try to shoot balls at the other team?s Horus. If Horus falls off the platform, the other team gets a point. At the end of 60 seconds, whichever team has the most points wins.

Kirk: It?s a game of war for the full pendant. On your marks? get set? GO!!!!!

*Maia immediately hits Tom & he falls off, while Diana has some problems trying to get Shawn off*

*Maia gets Tom off again & Diana gets Shawn off*

*with 20 seconds left, both teams are having problems (that they?ve been having for a while) but finally, Maia gets Tom off one last time with 4 seconds left*

Kirk TIME! Green Monkeys got 3 points! Red Jaguars got 1 point. The Green Monkeys go to the Temple! Red Jaguars, you guys fought hard, you guys rocked, & you won?t be going home empty handed! *Olmec explains prize*

Kirk: *only Green Monkeys are present* We're gonna see if the Green Monkeys can retrieve the Royal Septor of Isis, and we're gonna do it right after this!

Kirk: Welcome back. Maia & Shawn have proven themselves worthy and have earned themselves the right to enter Olmec?s temple. But before we get started, Olmec, can you give the Green Monkeys any clues about your Temple & how to retrieve the Royal Septor of Isis?

Olmec: You can start off in the Miner?s Cave. Crawl through the tunnel to make it into the Pit of Anguish. If you can get across, you can head into the Crocodile?s Mouth! Grab the fish from the walls & put them into the crocodile?s mouth & you can go up into the Ranch! Or you can head into the Anaconda?s Sanctuary. Untangle the snake & attach it to the wall & go into the Sacred Safari! Find the key in the elephant?s mouth, but beware of the Temple Guards, disguised as elephants! You can go up, or bust through the wall into the Battlefield! Jump on the trampoline to reach the ladder in the Ninja?s Secret Training Chamber & climb into the Ladder of Doom, where you can grab the Royal Septor! Put the correct torch into the torch holder & enter the Shriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine of the Siiiiiiilver Monkey! Assemble the statue & go into the Chamber of the Royal Containers. Dump the containers on the floor & find the key to go down, or head into the Observation Tower! Line up the telescope with the markings on the wall to open the door to cross the Stumps of Dejection! Use the 2 planks to get across the four stumps, or jump back into the Pit of Anguish. Race thorough the Hammered Nails & back to the Temple Gates! The choices are yours & yours alone! You won two pendants into the Temple. Who is going first?

Maia: I am!

Olmec: Very well, Maia! When Kirk gives the signal, you?ll race through the gate into the temple and make your way towards the Royal Septor of Isis. Hidden inside the temple are temple guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you?re caught without a pendant, you?ll be taken out of the temple and it will be Shawn?s turn to try her luck. Hidden inside the Temple is a ? Pendant. If you find it, you get an extra life. If you can reach the artifact, all the doors in the temple will instantly unlock, and the temple guards will vanish. Return through the gates with the artifact within three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded. And here?s how! *Olmec explains three prizes*

Kirk: Maia wants it all! On your marks? get set? GO!!!!!

*Maia goes up the stairs & slides down into the Miner?s Cave*

*she goes through the tunnel & goes into the Pit of Anguish with 2:43 left*

*Maia tries the door to the Crocodile?s Mouth, but it doesn?t open, so she climbs up the wall*

*Maia gets up the wall & goes into the Ranch with 2:17 left, showing Shawn the ? Pendant on the horse?s ear*

*Maia goes in & saddles the horse & crawls into the Chamber of the Royal Containers*

*Maia has problems in the room*

*she grabs the pots & smashes them on the floor & finds the key*

*Maia tries to actuator to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, but nothing happens*

*Maia has trouble getting the trapdoor open with the key*

*she gets it open with 1:44 left & a Temple Guard comes out, but she gives him her pendant, & she crawls down into the Anaconda?s Sanctuary*

*Maia falls onto the cargo net & grabs the snake & can?t untie it*

*Maia has a lot of problems untying the knots*

*Maia finally unties the snake & gets him to the other side & goes into the Sacred Safari with 50 seconds left*

*Maia puts her hand in the elephant?s mouth & gets the key, but can?t get the door open*

*she tries everything & the wall doesn?t bust open*

*Maia goes up into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey with 18 seconds left*

*Maia grabs the base & puts it on sideways*

*she grabs the middle & puts it on upside down*

*she grabs the head & turns the base around & tries to jam the head in*

*she goes to fix the middle when time runs out*

Kirk: Aww, so close! She as only 1 room away! They put up a great effort. They still get a prize. We gotta go, see you next time on another great Legends of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!

Fan Summary:
The Royal Septor of Isis

Name of Artifact: The Royal Septor of Isis
Season: 4
Layout: 7
Result: Ran Out of Time
Time Remaining: N/A
Team: Green Monkeys
Pendants Won: 1.5
Location of Artifact: The Ladder of Doom
Temple Diagram:
Temple Run Summary: There were some brutal layouts, but this was one of the worst, having Maia change floors 3 times. She went through the Miner's Cave & had to climb up to the Ranch. She got confused in the Chamber of the Royal Containers when the Shrine of the Silver Monkey door wouldn't open. The Temple Guard scared her, but the worst was yet to come. She spent 56 seconds in the Anaconda's Sanctuary untying the snake. She than got into the Sacred Safari, where she got more confused when the wall to the Battlefield wouldn't open. She took a little more than 30 seconds to get up to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, where she spent that last big getting the monkey. Originally, the base was sideways, the middle upside down, than she fixed the base & was trying to fix the middle (with the top trying to jam in still) when time ran out. At least she pointed out the 1/2 Pendant in the Ranch to Shawn, in case he needed it. Maia gave a good effort, but the layout would've required 8 or 9 rooms to pass through before the artifact, because we don't know of the Shrine/Ladder door would've opened (making 8 rooms), but if she had to go through the Battlefield, it would've been 9

Isn't it spelled ''scepter?''

As always, I love the attention you put to every part of the show, even the introduction and Kirk's commentary. So, this would be temple run #3 where the frontrunner does not reach the artifact, nor is removed by a guard. I can certainly see the crew making that layout, though. It seemed to me they felt especially mean somedays.

Well done.

Thanks! Haha, I don't know about the spelling stuff, but you can put it however you want in the directory. Was it more realistic?

I count this as the 4th, but I'm a little shaky on one of them.

The Warped Mirror of Achimedes (the diagram says time ran out, but the description seems like he got it before time ran out)
The Staff of Mansu Musa
The 38th Folio of William Shakespere
The Royal Scepter of Isis

No worries, I liked it.  Honestly I think we should take historical liberties with the legends if it makes things more interesting.  The real shows certainly weren't accurate much of the time.

Sorry about that. He was supposed to be getting the artifact, and then time expired before he could leave the room. I'll go back and fix that.
