Lost Season 4, Episode 5.
The Tattered Emblem of The Big Red One

The camera traverses its way through several plants to simulate a thick rainforest. It eventually makes its way to a large stone head. Its eyes light up and it begins to speak.

OLMECpx]The Moat:

OLMEC:
On the opposite side of the moat from where you are standing is an ancient ring. When Kirk gives the signal, one of you needs to jump in and swim across the moat to retrieve it. Then toss it across to your partner so they can climb in. Once in, pull the rope to bring them to the other side. Once they have reached the other side, get out of the ring, run over and hit the gong. (Kirk hits gong for clarification) The first four teams to hit their gong will go on to the next round.

KIRK:
All right. Teams, are you ready? (wait for response) Olmec, are you ready?

OLMEC:
Let?s rock.

KIRK:
On your marks. Get set. GO!

The Legend:

KIRK:
As the quest continues, it?s now time for Olmec to tell us about the tattered emblem of the Big Red One. But teams, you?re going to have to pay attention, because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to Olmec?s Temple.

OLMEC:
Serving under the motto ?Duty First,? The US 1st Infantry Division is the longest continuing military service of the American Army and have been the idols for modern warfare since their beginning. The Division was first formed in 1917 on Governor?s Island in New York, and consisted mostly of men who were previously monitoring the US-Mexico border. Their leader was George S. Patton.

PATTON:
All right you grunts, I bet you were thinking that America was never going to get involved with the Great War, but guess what? We?re going over there to personally accept our welcome gift.

OLMEC:
Each troop was given a special patch to sew onto the sleeves of their uniform: a red numeral one on a tan background, representing themselves and future members as the first American army men to set foot on the battlefield during wars. Their nickname, The Big Red One, came as a result of this emblem?s appearance.

PATTON:
We?re shipping out to Europe, and when we return, we?ll be heroes.

OLMEC:
The infantry landed on the shores of France to assist the tired French soldiers.

FRENCH SOLDIER:
Mon Dieu! Thank you for your help. The Germans are relentless foes, and we would surely be defeated if not for your assistance. Can I get you some cheese? Coffee, perhaps?

OLMEC:
On the infantry?s way to Paris, they came across a French town which had been conquered by the Germans. The American troops armed, and were able to reclaim the city after only 45 minutes of fighting. They also crossed the Rhone into German territory; further than any troops in any nation?s army had done in this war.

PATTON:
Stay in your own country, you German losers!

OLMEC:
The German?s knew they were defeated and retreated back into their established borders. An armistice was signed shortly thereafter ending the war. A lack of care for one of the American soldier?s uniforms caused it to fall apart at the seams. The emblem from the sleeve blew in the winds until it finally made its way to the temple. Your quest is to find the tattered emblem, and bring it back here.

KIRK:
Thank you, Olmec. Tell us, where is this tattered emblem?

OLMEC:
The Tattered Emblem of The Big Red One can be found in the Quicksand Bog.

The Steps of Knowledge:

KIRK:
Players, you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec is going to ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you?re right, you?ll move down to the next level. If you?re wrong or run out of time, I?m going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level (Kirk descends steps for emphasis) will be one step closer to Olmec?s Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

Temple Games:

KIRK:
Welcome back to Legends. Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let?s meet our players. (Reads individual player profiles). All right, why don?t you get ready for the temple games, I?m going to explain what?s going to happen here. In the temple games, teams are competing for those Pendants of Life. They?re going to need the pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. Olmec, will you tell us about temple game number one?

TEMPLE GAME 1:

OLMEC:
The Big Red One traveled to France from New York across the Atlantic Ocean, and you?re about to do the same. When Kirk gives the signal, push your boat off the ramp, and make your way to Europe. When you get there, plant the American Flag, turn your boat around, grab the rope, and pull yourself back. But be careful. If your feet touch the water, you?ll have to go back to Europe and start again. The first player to plant the flag and get both feet back on the dock wins.

KIRK:
All right, let?s start the mighty voyage. Let me get out of the way, and we can launch the boats. There?s no time limit on this one, so on your marks. Get set. Go.

TEMPLE GAME 2:

KIRK:
The second game is worth a half pendant, and the other team can score there. Olmec, tell us about it.

OLMEC:
The Big Red One left the comforts of civilian life to defend the freedom of our oversea allies. But no soldier can be expected to fight without the proper provisions. Buried in the pit in front of you are six items no soldier should be without. When Kirk gives the signal, jump in the pit and scour for the objects. When you find one, place it on the board and find the next. The first player to find all six objects, or whoever has found the most at the end of sixty seconds wins.

KIRK:
These two aren?t afraid of getting a little dirty. Let?s put sixty seconds on the clock. Don?t go until my signal. On your mark. Get set. Go!

TEMPLE GAME 3:

KIRK:
We got a tough match here heating up. We?ll go to the third and final game. It?s worth a full pendant. Olmec, tell us about temple game number three.

OLMEC:
According to legend, The Big Red One was able to drive German forces from a city in less than an hour. Here, you?ll try to do the same in less than a minute. Above you hang four German soldiers. The first player will load their cannon and attempt to hit the bulls eye above their head. If hit, the soldier will drop down to where the second player can get it. The second player must grab the soldier and place him in the stockade under the first player?s firing platform. The first team to shoot down and place all four soldiers in the stockade in under sixty seconds, or whoever is further along in sixty seconds wins.

KIRK:
Here we go. This is for the temple! Let?s put sixty seconds on the clock. On your marks. Get set. Go!

The Temple Run:

KIRK:
Welcome back to legends. The ______ have proven themselves worthy and now have earned the right to enter Olmec?s temple. But before we get started, Olmec?s going to give them some information that is going to help them retrieve The Tattered Emblem of The Big Red One.

OLMEC:
You could start by running up the stairs to The Crypt. Grab the books from the skeletons and pass into The Spider?s Web. Maneuver through the webbing, and you could climb into The King?s Storeroom. Smash the clay pots to find the key that will lead you into The Chamber of the Sacred Markers. Match the symbols on the right to those on the left, and pass into The Armory of the Ninja. Place the swords into the correct sheaths, and open the door to The Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue, and you may be headed toward The Lightning Room. Connect the power cords to create your own lightning to open the door to The Pharaoh?s Secret Passage. Climb down the tunnel to The Quicksand Bog where you could smash through to the Dark Forest, but beware the Temple Spirits that may inhabit the trees. Find the key in the tree, and you?ll enter The Den of Tribal Masks. Align the masks in the center of the room, and you?ll gain entry into The Dragon?s Lair. Open the dragons? mouths to find the tongue, and pull. Then, race through the Spider?s Web, climb through The Ledges, race down the stairs, and back through The Temple Gate. The choices are yours and yours alone. You won ____ pendant(s) in the temple games. Who?s going first? (wait for response) Very well, _____, when Kirk gives the signal, you?ll race through the gate into the temple and make your way towards the tattered emblem. Hidden inside the temple are temple guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you?re caught without a pendant, you?ll be taken out of the temple and it will be ____?s turn to enter and try his/her luck. If you reach the artifact, all the doors in the temple will instantly unlock, and the temple guards will vanish. Return through the gates with the emblem within three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded. And here?s how: (reads prizes).

KIRK:
All right. They want those prizes, so let?s see if they can do it. Let?s get ready. Mouthpieces in. Olmec, lower your gate. (Wait for gate to lower). Put three minutes on the clock. On your mark. Get set. Go!

Fan Summary:
The Tattered Emblem of The Big Red One

Name of Artifact
Temple Run Summary:
Chad was as eager to begin this temple run as much as he was all episode, so much so that he jumped the gun on the first temple game. But his grit and tenacity could only carry him so far. Choosing The Crypt as his point of origin, he pulled all three books, and jumped belly-flop style into The Spider?s Web. Seeing Chad flop around in there for forty-eight seconds ensured that the room lived up to its name. Yet as funny as this was, it wasn?t the funniest part of the temple run. That honor came when he finally squirmed his way to the other side, and traversed down from the King?s Storeroom into The Chamber of the Sacred Markers, where he actually tried to outrun the temple guard. He was able to make it into the next room, and fortunately the temple guard was able to get the pendant from him before he grabbed the first ninja sword which I believe he would have used to defend himself. Chad was then subsequently removed in the Shrine. Luckily, he went peacefully. Emily ran into the temple with less than a minute remaining, and was only able to get the torso on the silver monkey before time ran out.

Episode Fanfic written by Adam ?Carveyfan? Jaspering. Episode Summary format and Temple Diagram in the style of NickLegends.

Basically I just copied one of the maps from Nicklegends into Photoshop, edit it in the necessary manners, upload it to Photobucket, then pop in the necessary HTML to make it appear on message boards.
