This looks like a daunting task, but I will be sure to keep up with it.I agree. Erika and Jeremy's victory was pretty laughable, but they did dominate the pre temple rounds. I can't wait to see their rankings. Great list THK, I can't wait to see the rest.
I am interested in how some of the contestants like Jeremy and Erika rank. I mean sure, they were pathetic in the temple. But they were pretty dominant outside of it.
I wonder how Kim would fare. How can someone who won her temple game and team game do so badly in the Temple?
Well, both Kim and Jackie's teams won the temple games 2-1. Meaning they tied the third game, when both players won the other 2 games fair and square. And yeah, wasted potential indeed. It's kind of sad to see players who didn't even ENTER the temple, score higher than their not so great partners.I wonder how Kim would fare. How can someone who won her temple game and team game do so badly in the Temple?
Yeah, this is the thing I don't understand about some of these players in the temple.
Both Kim and Jackie won their individual and team temple game, yet were beyond pathetic in the temple. Both are a good example of wasted potential.

Gabby gets a higher ranking than Leah. What the hell.....My sentiments exactly. It boggles the mind...
THK is busy with school and will get to it when he finds time. Please be patient.
PONCE DE LEON AND THE LOST FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH:
I find it kind of strange that James has a lower score than his partner in the temple. I mean he was kind of slow and stupid during the run, but at least he made it one room away from the artifact. I mean he knew what he was doing in every room, but messed up by not taking the Shrine shortcut.
Also, his partner made some strange decisions with her alloted time in the temple. This includes unnecessarily backtracking to the Observatory as if the Heart Room magically opened or something.
Oh don't worry, I hope you don't think I am trying to criticize your rankings. I just found it to be kind of surprising that James had a better ranking than his partner. Then again, you are right about him being pretty clueless and he pretty much set himself up for that last temple guard at the end of the day. And its not like his partner had a chance anyways, so I think your score for her is fair.
Please don't change your score because of my opinion. I am sorry if I came off sounding rude. ;)
No opinions on the Gordian Knot temple run? :|It wasn't bad. The only thing really wrong with it is Retina going all the way around the horn instead of trying to take a shortcut.
One week later and still no reviews for this layout? Don't worry THK, I know school is getting in the way. ;)
Yay, more rankings! Glad to see this thread get revived after losing most of our progress.*looks above TRJ's post*
Mulan was pretty much a snore of an episode. Jessie was just painful to watch during the moat, and they only got to the temple because Stephen hauled ass through most of the rounds. Yet it was HIM who fell apart in the temple. And don't get me started on that Green Monkey boy either. I am so glad he didn't get to the temple.
Golden Goblet was a pretty blah episode too. From what I see on the rankings, the boys were pretty strong, and the girls were pretty weak. Especially the Purple Parrot girl, who I agree with you that she looked like she didn't want to be on the show. As far as the temple run goes, Rachelle was okay, but she did move pretty slow. I would have given her a 5 for her performance though. I wonder how Taylor would have done had he gone in first instead.
Not much else needs to be said about Leopard Skin Cloak, except it was PP Pwnage! It was clear the Blue Barracudas were no match for the Purple Parrots. They were just plain average, while the Parrots truly shined. It's such a pity this team didn't win, but Chandra should not have taken that elevator. I agree about your sentiments on Ahmed Baba and Annie Oakley though. It's nearly the same run, only different artifact location and the former team won. But either way, I agree with your rankings.
And Snakeskin Boots, another PP Pwnage episode. And unlike the aforementioned team, Kelly and Tony won. The strongest points were Tony sweeping the steps, Kelly OWNING her individual game, and the close competition in the third temple game. And I completely agree with you about the win itself. I always thought it got a lot of undeserved hate just because they didn't travel through 9 rooms and have 1029384756 objectives to do. Everyone seems to think that this run is just "Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder 2." Just because the layout was medium and Tony had a bad exit plan, doesn't make it a terrible victory. This is easily the most underrated victory ever. Yet runs like Benzibab and Ahmed Baba get praised all the time, which didn't have particularly hard layouts either. Though I would have given Tony a 7 for the temple run, and I don't think I would have graded Kelly's performance for the steps. Since it was Tony who swup the steps for the Parrots. But either way, I thought it was a great temple run and it deserves all the praise it gets.
Overall, great list! :D
I would've given Chandra a higher temple rating and a higher temple rating than Nick. All Nick had to do was get to where Chandra was taken out. Now he did do that, but he acted kind of dumb in the Pit by unnecessarily swinging on the rope. Reminds me of Brian from Bent Shaving Pan, but much better.
Then, it's a good thing Irish went in first instead of Brian. I haven't seen Bent Shaving Pan is a long time, but I remember Brian being very slow. If he had gone in first, Irish probably wouldn't have had a chance to go in. As far as Nick goes, maybe one or two points lower would have been good. I mean, remember his awkward key placement in the King's Storeroom?I would've given Chandra a higher temple rating and a higher temple rating than Nick. All Nick had to do was get to where Chandra was taken out. Now he did do that, but he acted kind of dumb in the Pit by unnecessarily swinging on the rope. Reminds me of Brian from Bent Shaving Pan, but much better.
Yeah, I had a hard time deciding what to give Chandra in the temple. I mean she did great besides taking that elevator and even made it one room away with about a minute left on the clock. And this is taking the same route that Shane took in the temple too. As for Nick, maybe I could lower him down just to a 7. But I don't think he was bad as Brian though. Now that boy looked lost. ;)

Anyways, for your next ones, I say go ahead and do Xerxes/Henry Hudson filming day. Good luck getting decent rankings from those teams though. Since that filming day wasn't very good.
Oh, how robbed was Levi Turney.
I agree with the rankings.
The Snow Cone kids sucked, REALLY BAD. The Red Jaguars should have gone to the temple in that episode, since the Silver Snakes kept barely winning round by round. And the temple run is just so painful to watch. Did both players really spend all three minutes they had traversing the bottom floor? I've only seen the full episode once, and trust me, once is enough for me.
The Upside Down Compass episode was alright. While it's not the most exciting episode, it's best of the worst. And PP Pwnage struck once again! But they kind of lost their thunder by the temple run. The layout was pretty tough, but both players moved a little too slow. As for the pre temple rounds, Sherra pretty much led the team, and she kicked ass in her temple game. Derek was just average at best, not much to say about him. The Green Monkeys were horrible though. I echo your sentiments that I am SO glad they didn't go the temple.
The Bent Shaving Pan was basically a snore. Neither team impressed me, and the temple run was lacking a bit. Both players moved way too slow, Brian being the worst of the two. While he truly had little time remaining, he only got as far as the Dark Forest. That's all I have to say about this one.
And god Xerxes.... huge disappointment. The Green Monkeys did NOT deserve to go to the temple. I don't care how lucky they got with the tiebreaker. To say Levi was robbed is an understatement. While him and Candice probably wouldn't have won in the temple, I know they would have done a better job. Should have been the Purple Parrots.
Keep the rankings coming! :D
Elizabeth's ranking seems a bit lenient, but otherwise, not bad. These rankings are agreeable. :)
Temple Run is a little too high.Elizabeth's ranking seems a bit lenient, but otherwise, not bad. These rankings are agreeable. :)
In which category in particular? I guess the temple run might be a little high and I could lower her Steps down a little bit, but she was a good contestant though. :mrorange:
Nostradamus was a great episode from beginning to end. And what a coincidence that I was just watching this run the other day. I happen to think Elizabeth's rankings are fine. The temple run might be a bit lenient, but then didn't even last long anyways. I remember Jason REALLY struggling in his temple game. But those ceiling games are pretty crappy anyways, so I won't hold it against him too much. The Purple Parrots were also a solid team, especially the Purple Parrot boy. Too much they choked once again at the tiebreaker. I wish both teams would have gone to the temple, but the Orange Iguanas definitely deserved it more. And the temple run was great. Both Elizabeth and Jason did great.
The Broken Wing of Icarus was actually a very exciting episode. The Green Monkeys and The Silver Snakes dominated this episode. From being 1 and 2 in the moat, double sweeping the steps, and tying 1 pendant in the temple games. Too bad the Silver Snakes choked at the tiebreaker though. They probably would have done better in the temple. As far as the run itself goes, Jason sucked. At least he made it to the artifact, and the ending WAS a nailbiter. But, he ended up blowing it at the end, so his low ranking was deserved. Also, didn't it look like April was gonna cry after time was called? She looked upset, and she kept wiping her eyes during the end credits. If that were the case, then I wouldn't blame her.
The Bonnet of Dolley Madison was also another episode I've seen recently. It was a good episode. Man, did Ashlie suck during the steps or what? They just barely got down to the bottom because rang in incorrectly three times. The Parrots on the other hand OWNED IT on the steps. The temple games were good though, but the Iguanas destroyed the Parrots. Especially in that third game, when the Parrots kept dropping their pieces. They were clearly no match for the Iguanas. The temple run was exciting, but disappointing. Matt was a BEAST in the temple, in the little time he lasted. Just look at the way he assembled that stone column. If only he didn't try for a direct path, it could have been an amazing solo win. Ashlie was okay, she looked like she was a pain the whole time she was running. Probably because of her trip up the stairs. Too bad she screwed up in the Dark Forest, and couldn't even get out of the Jesters' court once she DID grab the bonnet.
And finally The Priceless Portrait, where we are reunited with those Purple Parrots who got DQ'd in the Applewood Amulet's moat crossing. They were a good team, but they sort of choked in the third temple game. The Silver Snakes were a good team, but I liked Jim better than I did Kristen. I agree with you that this run could have been a win if Jim had gone in second. Speaking of the temple run, it was a good effort. Kristen hesitated way too much, but at least she found the half pendant. And it wasn't even SIGNALED to her. Christina from Secret Battle Plan, take note. The last seconds of the run were pretty exciting, since it was the first time an artifact was even REACHED in the bottom central shaft. But, time ran out nonetheless. On a more off topic note, who thinks the crew just randomly put the Portrait in the Laser Light Room, just for the fact "an artifact has never been in there before?" Great way to wrap up Season 2 though, even if it wasn't a win.
Also, notice how the Purple Parrots made it to 3/4 of the temple games in this episode, but lost each time? Two times to the Orange Iguanas, no less. Darn, but those other teams still deserved it anyways.
Oh god, it hurts to sit through this production day. Since most of them episodes were either average or just plain bad. But, here are my thoughts:
Man, I hate the Smashed Printing Plate episode so much. It's literally one of the worst episodes in the history of the show and there's a reason I've only seen the full episode once. The Parrots OWNED IT during the steps, only to get destroyed in the temple games. And Jason totally cheated in the team game! Not only there too, but I believe he cheated in his individual game too. Jason kept making basket tosses while the Purple Parrot boy fell off the horse. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you supposed to wait until the opponent gets back on the horse to start making tosses again? Dana won her temple game fair and square, but only because the Purple Parrot girl threw her jar of ink too far. And we just discussed the third temple game, but at least Dana didn't cheat. And don't even get me started on the temple run. Terrible performance by both players. Jason was slow and clueless, and Dana is far and away the most obnoxious contestant ever. And after running her mouth all run, Dana couldn't even get out of the Pit in the 30 seconds she had. Pathetic. I agree with your sentiment on how could this team sweeps the temple games, only to give a lousy temple performance. This team did not deserve to go to the temple. Should've been the Purple Parrots.
I actually like the Mystikal Spellbook episode. The Green Monkeys were a very strong team all day, while the Silver Snakes were just plain average. As far as the temple run goes, Katie should have gone first. She had a MUCH better job what to do in the minute she had than Jared did all run. But, it was a hard layout, so I don't think they would have won either way.
The Useless Map was an average episode. The Orange Iguanas were a very dominant team until the third temple game. The biggest downfall was Jared tripping in his third temple game. So he basically cost the Iguanas the full pendant. Such a shame their run ended in triple capture. What rotten luck they had. Though Hallie should have gone up into the King's Storeroom instead of going into the Tomb. Had the run not ended in triple capture, they would have grabbed the Map, maybe even brought it out too.
And finally Golden Spider Web. I've only seen the full episode once or twice, but all I remember about it is that it's a snore of an episode. And of course we got Jeremy's cheating in his temple game. Which I still say it was an honest mistake. But either way, he wasn't that great of a player and his low temple game score is still deserved. Even if the team had the full pendant, no way would they make it past the Jesters' Court with the layout they had.
Great rankings like always. Which production day are you gonna do next?
Ah, the infamous "Shaking log" production day. Where the moats have terrible editing and missing fog due to the long moats. Anyways, my thoughts are as follows:
Mush Pot Hat was a pretty good episode. The Green Monkeys and the Orange Iguanas were just about on par with each other. Not much to say about this episode other than it could have been a solo victory had Chris started in the Ledges. Or if Angela had picked up the pace a bit in the Pit. Not the Wall Climb like you said. *cough* ;)
I hate the Cracked Crown episode. It all started with the REALLY long moat. This had to have been the "45 minute moat" for sure. Looks how long it takes to even get the THIRD TEAM across. The moat fog is completely gone not long after the second team (which I think was the Orange Iguanas) got across. The steps were nothing special, the temple games were pretty painful to watch too. Winter, (the female Green Monkey) was utterly pathetic in her temple game. She fell off the horse literally in seconds. That's the only reason Kerry even won her game. I don't remember the team game performance, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Green Monkeys sucked there too. And the temple run was just awful. Josh should've gone in second. Not Miss "I'm gonna walk through every room and take a wrong turn at the end of the run" Kerry. I don't watch this full episode very much. And now you know why. Plus, this was one of the overplayed ones on Nick Gas. :|
Impress Theodora was an average episode. Having just seen this one not long ago, this moat was also pretty heavily edited. I agree about the Green Monkeys sucking at this moat. I mean, weren't they the 4th team to finish, and the mist was just starting to disappear then? The steps were an average round, see notes below for my thoughts on it. The temple games were a pretty close match, and yes the Green Monkeys and the Orange Iguanas are best friends on this filming day. Only this time, the Green Monkeys go to the temple. Could have been a 2 pendant tie if it wasn't for the Orange Iguanas sucking at the third temple game. Neither player could even knock a soldier down before time was up. So I think your scores on them were a little too generous. But, that's just me. The temple run was alright, both players were kind of slow. Too bad the elevator kept stalling at the last second. If it weren't for that, could have been a last second grab. But, this close loss wasn't as exciting as the "Blue Pearl" episode.
And finally, Stone Head. This was a pretty disappointing episode. The intro is heavily edited because of yet another long moat crossing. Though this moat wasn't nearly as bad as "Cracked Crown's" moat. Since the fog didn't start disappearing until after the third team had crossed. The Blue Barracudas owned it in the temple games, the Silver Snakes were most certainly no match for them. Still a good competition despite the sweep. The temple run sucked. Heather was slow and got lost so easily and what little time she was in the temple for. Tony was pathetic. While 4 snakes in Medusa's head is a bit much, he spent over a minute figuring it out. And don't get me started on how poorly he smashed those pots. After time was called, you can tell Heather looked SO PISSED that they lost. And Tony looked equally as pissed as well.
Other notes I have:
* The Mush Pot Hat moat is the only episode where the players don't struggle immensely at the moat. That's seriously the shortest moat to feature "the shaky log." Correct me if I'm wrong though.
* And yes, we see the Silver Snakes from the "Priceless Portrait" episode here. But instead of losing the moat, they lost at the steps, after not getting any questions right. I wonder how they were still let on the show, since these guys didn't actually lose at the moat? Oh well, I'm glad they were given a second chance, since they did great in "Priceless Portrait."
* And basically, Mush Pot Hat was the best episode on this filming day. The rest were okay to bad.
Like always, great rankings. :D If I start rankings, I'll probably do the first S2L2 filming day. Since I've seen all the episodes from that day recently, so I thought you and I might compare rankings. Up to you of course.
I always thought the 45 minute moat was Stone Head's since part of the intro was cut out.But in that one, the fog didn't disappear nearly as soon as Cracked Crown's did. The fog in Stone Head's moat only disappeared after the 3rd team gonged in. I'm sure that moat did indeed take a while though. As far as the cut intro goes, it was probably just some bad editing.
I didn't give David a ranking in the moat because all he had to do was sit in a floating ring while Eusinia pulled him across. No skill needed for that. Even John, Tia, and Kim can sit in a ring with no problem. That's why there's an N/A for David in that one.Oh yeah, I remember now. Kind of an odd moat making all the teams do that. But, since it was the first of its filming day, they probably didn't do that again for the other moats. And yeah, good call discontinuing the +/- aspect, unless it's a tiebreaker question, it's not necessary.
I guess I'll be more lenient with the temple games in the Cobra Staff episode. I knew I'd get criticized for that. No +/- bull crap from now on for me.
Edit: Before I forget, I gave David and Eusinia both a 10 in the team temple game because they deserved and earned it. They owned that game! They get credit for that one. Very well coordinated and speedy at the same time. They made the Blue Barracudas in that game look like a joke. They're keeping the 10.
I know I'm a little harsh on Jennifer too, but if I were to rank her temple performance, I'd probably give her a 7.5 or maybe a little higher. She basically had the entire temple to herself with Damian getting taken out in the Throne Room, just three rooms in. She was definitely fast for sure, but she made a couple of mistakes. I'll have to rewatch the run though.
Yeah, I disagreed about Bobby's rankings as well. Just because "he was fast" and "looked like he knew what he was doing," doesn't make him an amazing, beast player. I know the production error wasn't his fault, but I'm not gonna give him special treatment just because he got lucky. And I thought the "Golden Ship" rankings were a little too generous. I would have given both Joe and Gabby a 5. They weren't bad players per se, they were just too slow and had terrible luck. I can sort of see where he was coming from when it came to Robbie and Steve. I mean, Robbie's artifact was closer to the temple, but he took the direct path. Where as Steve's artifact was much further in the temple, where the wall didn't break down anyways.
Lea's ranking was too harsh as well, she did great despite minor hesitations in her run. On the other hand, I'm curious to see what Steve would have done had he gone in first instead. Also, I'm curious to see how anyone would rank the temple games from Mata Hari. I remember before the database crash, that episode WAS ranked, and the female Blue Barracuda did a terrible job. Worse than Evan, Jon, and Tia even. But, to each their own I guess.
Plus, we don't want to get too carried away with discussion about who's rankings were good or bad. We want to leave plenty of room for anyone to do their own rankings. We can still discuss other peoples rankings, as long as the conversation doesn't drag.
Anyways, the only other thing I have to say is yes, the Mata Hari games were terrible. Kirk had no idea what he was doing. He took the "furthest along" rule WAY too far, causing the Silver Snakes to win the temple games undeservedly. Though I'm not sure how much better the Blue Barracudas would have done in the temple. I mean, did you SEE how pathetic that female Blue Barracuda was in her third temple game? Imagine what she would have been like in the temple.
And btw TRJ, you got the pendant score for Delphi wrong. The Purple Parrots beat the Silver Snakes 2-1 pendant, NOT the 2-0.5 you stated. Just thought I'd point that out. ;)
I really need to get on with my rankings. Any requests? How about the Pytheas/Dried Ear of Corn filming day? I think I remember you doing those rankings before the database crash.
Well, the last S2L3 day.... not a very remarkable filming day besides Napoleon. Either way, here are my thoughts on the rankings:
Efoua was just plain average at best. The only remarkable thing I can think of are the close competition in the temple games and the rare Blue vs. Orange match up. Which might I add is the last of only a mere 4 episodes to feature that color combination. But back to the episode, the Blue Barracudas and the Orange Iguanas were neck and neck all episode. By double sweeping the steps of knowledge and tying the first 2 temple games. But in the end, Orange won fair and square. The temple run was boring, that layout was hard. Though the shrine/shaft door was open, meaning Bobby should have taken that shortcut. It certainly would saved some time, and maybe he would have grabbed the hand at the last second. But, who knows....
Iron Mask was an average episode. And what a coincidence that I've just seen this one recently. The Blue Barracudas were a VERY strong team pre temple rounds. And they absolutely destroyed the Green Monkeys in the temple games, who pretty much had no chance. Though I personally thought both players were pretty sucky, especially the Green Monkey boy. Man, was he horrid in his temple game. He kept dropping the masks in the ceiling game, and never even scored at all. For the temple run, Danielle definitely would have won it if it wasn't for the Medusa's Lair dead end. Justin was pretty fast though, you gotta love his head first dive out of the Dark Forest. Imagine if the wall didn't break down though.
Queen Nzinga was just plain boring. Nothing much to say about this run except Renee should have been able to spot that obvious half pendant. I mean come on now, Claude, Kerry, and even Aqila found their half pendants. Why couldn't she? Though I'm not sure if the wall would have broken down. Since that has been theorized here in the past. Ugh, this was a horrible temple run. I was rooting for the Purple Parrots in the temple games. :(
And finally Napoleon, the breath of fresh air on this filming day. It was a great episode, and just about every round was close. Not much else to say about this run except if Carly had opened the shrine/shaft door properly (she didn't press the button hard enough), they would have won for sure.
Man, now that I think about it, Season 2 had quite the streak of losses too. I mean, between "Tall Turban" and "Snakeskin Boots," none of the other teams won. Though some of the teams (like the aforementioned Napoleon) actually reached the artifact. I guess mostly losses was a good way to balance things out since there had been 7 wins within the first four filming days of Season 2. Good stuff like always, which filming day do you think you'll do next?
Also, one more thing I forgot to mention. Since when was Renee's individual game supposed to be declared a tie? I mean, if she fumbled her crown, and it didn't make it in the basket, then she lost fair and square. As for the temple spirit, she could have avoided it, just like Joel and Justin did. And if that had happened, we could have had another "Butch Cassidy" esque win on our hands. Otherwise, I don't think the wall would have broken down. But there was no excuse NOT to find that half pendant.
As far as your next rankings go, if you're really gonna do S1L2, good luck. Some of the worst episodes and/or runs come from that filming day. But at least you'll have John Sutter to look forward to. If you change your mind, you can do the S1L3 or S1L7 filming day. The ones you originally thought of doing. Of course, it's up to you.
In fact, the only season two team that has an excuse for passing the half-pendant is "The Missing Eye of David" team.
In fact, the only season two team that has an excuse for passing the half-pendant is "The Missing Eye of David" team.
I would argue that the Walking Stick team would have an excuse, too, since their half-pendant was nowhere in sight. Not to mention that Ryann wouldn't have even needed it had she followed Chris' path.
I never said I was great at giving rankings. I'm human. ;)
About done with Leopard-Skin Cloak. After that, I might go for Snakeskin Boots as well.
I never said I was great at giving rankings. I'm human. ;)
About done with Leopard-Skin Cloak. After that, I might go for Snakeskin Boots as well.
What about Sacred Ring? You said you were going to do that one and Leopard Skin Cloak next.
Well, the Sacred Ring kids were pretty weak, but they did decently during the temple games. I especially liked the temple game sequence where each story led right into the next game. If that makes any sense. While they were an IMMENSE improvement over the Lost Lion Tail kids, they still kind of sucked. The temple run is pretty terrible, and the path they took was pretty strange. But still, I blame Brian 100% for this loss. Not just for his detour into the Dark Forest, but for not signaling back the pendant to Gracelyn. Not that she was too much better though, since she moved much too slowly. If it's any consolation, this is the only triple capture by the Purple Parrots. At least they didn't have to endure anymore of those type of scenarios.
And enough has been said about Leopard Skin Cloak and Snakeskin Boots. PP Pwnage! And I think 6 is a decent score for Kelly for the temple run. She moved at a decent pace, but we never saw much of her since she only lasted 3 rooms. Tony was great too, even if he didn't have a stellar exit plan. The only difference between him and Jason is that Tony only faltered a bit at the end. Jason sucked the whole way through. But, both Purple Parrot teams did great, and it shows in their near identical team ratings.
And yes, you did review those aforementioned teams before, TRJ. Right here. (http://phantomstemple.us.to/index.php?topic=2324.msg104434#msg104434) Should be easier now comparing your rankings to the ones PP319 did. ;)
Also, did the Red Jaguar boy from "Bifocal Monocle" really do THAT bad in his temple game? I haven't seen this episode in ages (and you can imagine why ), but didn't he miraculously make it halfway up the cubby hole/trampoline before Thomas won the whole game? Not like either team was super spectacular, this whole episode screams "filler/waste of space."
Ah, at last the rankings are complete. Now for my thoughts:
The Bifocal Monocle was a terrible episode. TERRIBLE episode. There was nothing remarkable about any of the rounds, and BOTH teams in the temple games sucked. And don't even get me started on the temple run. Though considering the Red Jaguars' poor performance in the temple games, I'm not sure if they would have done a better job. How on earth do they get on the show? I know they're just kids, and can't all be like Gator and Jarrid, but good lord. Your review and rankings of this episode reminds me all over again why I always skip over this episode whenever I go back to rewatch episodes.
The Battle Flag episode was alright, IMMENSE improvement over the aforementioned episode. The Green Monkeys were a pretty dominant team all episode, though the Red Jaguars were an okay team too. It was Natalie who sucked though, and that's what brought the team down. The temple run was okay, but disappointing. This really should have been a win. But Olivia's hesitating in the Pit and Jonathan's screwing around in the Room of the Ancient Warriors prevented that. Oh well, typical result for an artifact in the Center of the Room.
The War Fan episode was just plain average. You're right about both teams, they both barely scraped by each round. Though the Silver Snakes had an early lead during the Steps. But the other teams caught right up to them. The Snake also did an okay job in the temple games, but they struggled with the third. If it wasn't for that, they could have swept the temple games. And we all know about the temple run, the door got stuck and prevented this team from winning. Oh well, at least they got the second prize at the end. What I don't understand is.... why didn't the production crew just stop the run to fix the door? Or better yet, give the team a restart on a later day. If they can postpone Secret Battle Plan and Belshazzar for production issues, couldn't they do the same here? Especially since this was the first filming day of Season 3. Maybe the production crew figured by Season 3, they can handle production issues. So hence, there was no need to postpone or refilm everything.
And finally, Sir Gawain. An episode that was WAY overplayed by Nick Gas. Plus, this was one of the few episodes that was on YouTube back in the day. The episode itself was still pretty good, but really, it wasn't all that exciting. The temple games were okay I guess. Both Tiffani and Donna sort of struggled with the team game, even if it was Donna who won. The second temple game is TERRIBLY voiced over. Seriously, just listen to Kirk's voice, it sounds really annoying. Plus, I love how he almost calls Jahmel "Donna." And you're right about the mace too, it was like the Spotters couldn't even swing on it properly. And yes, this was the first time the "swinging boulder" game was used. That's probably why the spotters had a hard time swinging the boulder back and forth. And the team game was sort of a mess, since both teams kept missing the bucket. But in the end, the Orange Iguanas destroyed the Purple Parrots in the third game, with a score of 8-3. And the temple run.... I find Tiffani a tad overrated. Sure she got back on the platform and didn't run into any temple guards. But she still moved pretty slow and honestly, she was just lucky with the path she took. And yeah, that artifact was HUGE. I can definitely understand her slowing down trying to bring that artifact out. Overall, it was a good win, and Tiffani did a good job. But I find it overrated. I don't love this episode, I just find it average at best.
Whew, that was long. As far as the whole filming day goes, it was just average. I honestly didn't find any of the episodes that exciting, and Bifocal Monocle was just atrocious. Though I did like the moat crossing on that filming day, and thought it was pretty cool. Plus, all the rounds with that moat were close. Good rankings like always, I still want to try my hand at it. I'm not sure which taping day I'll start with though.
Notice how the Purple Parrots lose in the temple games in 3/4 of those episodes except for "Roland". :mrpurple:And I guess that means "William Tell" is part of the "Hans Holbein" production day?
So no "Clovis I"? Awesome!Nope. It's Gwalior.
So IIRC, that day consisted of "Pytheas", "Belle Boyd", and "Sojourner Truth"... I don't remember the other episode, is it "Tokugawa Ieayasu"? If so, then that will be a production day full of two pendant runs. :o :mrred:
Thanks guys. Those two truly were good players. The reason I gave Damian an N/A for the Steps is because he never attempted to ring in and he never answered anything. Jennifer did the work there.

Better that than a 0.
Maybe I will do your personal favorite Purple Parrot episodes "The Lost Lion Tail of Little John" and "Sultan Suleiman" after these sets. :mrpurple:
S1L8 --> Covered by THK, but they were deleted.Missing Eye ;)
Enourmous Iron Nose Ring, Ahmed Baba, Ivory Elephant, Shriveled Hand --> This might not be a bad day to cover. I might do this one next.
Lost Lion Tail, Cosa Rara, Sultan Suleiman, Jeweled Necklace --> Good luck with this production day, I could never sit through this one.
Mummified Hand, Egyptian Queen, Madame Tussaud, Lost Taj Mahal Turban --> Another production day that was pretty good that is worth doing.
Gwalior, Belle Boyd, Pytheas, Sojourner Truth --> I am already half-way done with this one, so this is another possible choice for me. But I like the "Ivory Elephant" day a little more.

I think this was pretty good. I like how Beth of the Green Monkeys almost had double the score of her partner. :P No surprise that Jammin John ranked high either. I personally would've gave him a 7 or even an 8 in the temple. For being the first temple run ever, he did great in y books. He moved fast, didn't stall much, and had a good map of the temple in his head,
I am looking into finishing the Chandragupta and Bandit Queen day once I am done with all my exams on Wednesday. ;)
RJF, are you going to rank the Snow Cone team next? I saw you talk about Snow Cone in the Main Spam thread and I was thinking that you will do rankings for the losers known as Casey and Heather. If so, then good luck. Those two were just awful in the temple. Looking back at my rankings for them, I was generous. :oops:My God, it was so frustrating just to watch the legend, let alone the Temple Run. I may as well, but be prepared for my anger.

NOTES:
This episode sucked, I didn't like it at all. The Silver Snakes did not deserve to go to the temple and they barely beat the Red Jaguars in the final temple game. Heather looked pathetic in her temple game where she kept stepping on the same pole that was wrong. Also, she kept stumbling in her team game.
The temple run is not any better and Casey did not know what he was doing either. Heather fails for wasting all that time in the Dark Forest.
Wow, they ranked even worse than when TRJ ranked them. Nissa and Kevin would've done a MUCH better job in the temple than Casey and Heather did. Now I know why I never watch this episode. I've only seen the full episode once, and I intend on never watching it again. :roll:Any requests? I don't know which to choose from.
Oh well, any idea which episode/players you're going to rank next?
Yeah, Travis and Elisa were robbed, big time. And I have a request for you: How about ranking Olivia Emma and Robert next? Let's see if they really do get too much credit. I remember you ranked them in the Spam Topic a long time ago, and I ranked them somewhere in this thread last year.Honestly? I already have a feeling they're gonna have high scores, particularly Olivia-Emma. I know the run is simplistic, but you can't deny the players blazed through the episode.

NOTES:
Another excellent episode! This moat seemed to take a long time too. The mist was completely gone when the camera panned over to the Purple Parrots after the moat. And yes, those Blue Barracudas who "broke" the gong were Janet and Chris from "The Priceless Portrait of the Polynesian Girl." For the Steps of Knowledge, the Silver Snakes naturally take the Blue Barracudas place. And they do answer at least two questions correctly. I don't understand why people say "they didn't even answer one question."
The temple games were VERY close and neck and neck. But really, the Purple Parrots and the Green Monkeys were neck and neck all episode. They were 1 and 2 in the moat, very smart on the Steps of Knowledge, and tied the temple games with 1.5 pendants. Speaking of which, the third temple game was just impressive. NONE of the four players fell off the horse. Though Robert was starting to falter a little at the end. I also love how when the game is over, Kirk sounds like he's saying "Oh shit, he's tired!" XD In the end, Olivia-Emma gets the tiebreaker right and they go to the temple! Recording yet another tiebreaker loss for the Purple Parrots. :( I wouldn't change the results for anything though, I just wish both teams would've gone to the temple.
And the temple run was great. Their layout wasn't particularly hard, but the rooms were the hardest the show had to offer at the time. Robert goes in and he does a decent job. He gets removed by two consecutive temple guards in Medusa's Lair and the King's Storeroom, and Olivia-Emma takes over. She passes up the half pendant, but it doesn't affect the outcome, and I assume temple guard was in the Crypt. She gets to the Viper's Nest, has trouble finding the Amulet, but she grabs it and blazes out of the temple. The ending was such a nailbiter, she wins with literally one second left on the clock. Recording by far the closest finish in the show's history. Both Robert and Olivia Emma were so excited, and so was Kirk. Solid.

I updated my list for most of the Season 1 episodes. The list may look like an eyesore right now, but I promise I will find a way to make it look better. I stopped at Stone Marker and I will finish with the rest of Season 1 later. Hopefully I got everyone's ranking for each episode. Let me know if I missed someone. ;)And this is why I add weight to later rounds.
Also, I know I am going to do Sultan Saladin next now. Why? Because THK has Lea with an overall score of 5.2. Meanwhile, Lisa has an overall score of 6. -_- Tell me how does that make sense? A strong temple player all day over a player who really didn't belong in the temple in the first place. Oh yeah, let's give Lea the same temple score as Gabby and Joe who only went through 4 rooms.

NOTES:
This episode featured two very strong teams. The Purple Parrots were dominant in the moat and did well at the Steps, while the Green Monkeys were right behind them in both categories.
The Purple Parrot boy, Brent, was very strong in his temple game. He knocked down all four soldiers in under a half-minute. Poor Jarrid struggled in this temple game and couldn't even keep up with Brent. Jessica and Mary were very competitive in their temple games and both ended in a close tie.
Jarrid and Jessica were very fast in their team game. They only beat it in what, 19 seconds? It only took both of them 4-5 pushes to knock down all three ships. The Purple Parrots were close behind them, but Jarrid and Jessica were just too good hear.
And do I really needs to say much about the temple run? They owned everything! I did have to give Jarrid a slightly lower score for the mistake in the Secret Password, but other than that...
Best team on Legends ever?
Overall, this was easily the best episode of the entire production day.
John and Tia would probably rank in the 2 range, like the Blue Barracuda girl did for THK in the Mata Hari episode. :o Episodes like Snow Cone and Cricket Cage are episodes I wouldn't even touch with a ten foot poll. O_OI'm gonna go and dive into that anyway just to get it over with. You're in for a shock when you see the ratings.
Let me guess, they rank worse than the Blue Barracuda girl from Mata Hari? Either way, good luck.I haven't watched that episode in so long. How bad can she be?
Well, she sucked balls in the team temple game, the one with the dragon tunnel. Seriously, she couldn't pull herself up the tunnel if her life depended on it. I know these are just kids, but how hard is it for you to pull yourself up a mere tunnel? I sort of want to see your rankings for Cricket Cage first. But if you want to do Mata Hari, then that's fine too.

NOTES:
If you didn't know already, but I love this episode. :mrblue: Seriously, it's such a fun episode and not only was the best episode of S1L2, but it was also one of the best episodes on the whole show. Luckily, they saved the best for last. :mrblue:
If you didn't know already, Jennifer and Damian were in "John Henry's Lost Hammer" as the Blue Barracudas. They didn't make it past the moat though in that episode. That is alright though, because they kicked ass though and had a strong return in this episode! :mrblue: They went first in the moat, first in the Steps, won two pendants in the temple games, and won their temple run. Not many teams share that same stat line, but they were the first to do this.
THK originally gave Damian a 0 in the Steps of Knowledge. I don't agree with this score at all. Even though Damian didn't answer any questions, that doesn't mean he didn't know any of the answers. Giving him a 0 makes him look worst than he really performed. iO always give a player at least a 7 even if they don't answer a qestion. Jennifer was the one that was chiming in and she did an amazing job in the Steps. She was attentive and even got an answer right with any of the choices being revealed. I am not sure how the Silver Snakes made it to the temple games though. They barely advanced by the moat and now they just barely advanced by the Steps.
The Blue Barracudas were pretty strong in the temple games too. This biggest highlight of the temple games is the miscount of the first temple game. In the first temple game, the contestants were pushing pieces of gold through the dragon tunnel. In the end, Kirk miscounted the final score. The Silver Snakes actually had more pieces of gold than the Blue Barracudas. But he called it a tie. It didn't matter, because Damian was moving much faster than Brooke and would've won anyways if he had a couple of more seconds left to put his other pieces of gold into the bin. Jennifer had bad luck in her individual game where she dropped one of her sacks of gold. She was doing better than the Silver Snake boy and would've won if that sack of gold didn't drop on her. But at least they still tied.
For the last temple game, I noticed something that I have never noticed before. During the team game, after the players had to slide down the slope, they were suppose to run back through the middle of the slides in order to reposition themselves again. Damian kept running on the wrong side of the slides because he was suppose to run through the middle. I don't really call this cheating, but I deducted a point from him for not following the rules. But Kirk clearly stated they had to run through the middle. The last team game was a nailbiter though but the Barracudas won.
The temple win is very exciting and I can't understand why people think Jennifer's temple performance was so flawed. Yeah, she hesitated in a couple of rooms of the temple, but many S1 players did that. I am not sure on what basis that THK gave her a 6 in the temple. She didn't seem clueless to me at all. Even though her strategy didn't work out, it didn't throw her off at all. She moved very fast in the temple and brought the Map to the Lost Gold Mine out with quite some time to spare. Pretty good considering she had to move through 8 rooms. I gave Damian a 9 also because his speed was unbelievable and who knows how far he would've made if he wasn't taken out early? If Annie gets a lot of praise, he should also receive recognition.
This was a great episode and team and I am not sure why THK ranked these two players so low. A team that wins first in every round is definitely not a fluke. I loved this episode and it was a nice way to cap off an otherwise miserable production day.
Overall, this production day was pretty sucky up until the very last episode. Those first three temple runs are among the worst in the series. But Map to the Lost Gold Mine on the other hand was one of the best. This is how I rank the episodes overall:

NOTES:
Unlike "Lost Hammer", this episode was a disaster. The moat in this episode seemed to give more teams trouble. John was halfway across the moat and he struggled majorly getting across. Yet, he somehow managed to chime in first. The Purple Parrots finished last and it was painful to watch these teams struggle.
The rest of the rounds were just mediocre. The temple games were pretty embarassing and the Purple Parrots really should've gone to the temple. How did the Silver Snakes win? Well Tia tied her game and they barely won the last temple game. Also, John looked like a fool and got beat by a girl in his temple game.
The temple run... I think we all know how bad it is. Unlike THK, I gave John a 1 in the temple. This kid wasted over a minute trying to get to the Heart Room and this includes backtracking all the way to the Cave of Sighs. Who knows how far he would've made it if he wasn't taken out in the Heart Room? Tia was even worse (if that was possible) and this whole temple run was a load of crap. These two made it through 4 rooms in 3 minutes and there is nothing good to say about it. At least "Lost Hammer" had Billy who sort of redeemed that run.
The Purple Parrots would've done much better than these two losers. Even though I wasn't impressed with the myself, they still performed better than John and Tia. No doubt in my mind they would've had a better temple performance. This whole episode is laughable and John was such an annoying loser also.

NOTES:
Ah, the episode I have seen so many times.
To be honest, the Orange Iguanas did not look too impressive in the temple games. In the human maze game, it looked like Tiffani was taking her time to get through the holes. The Purple Parrot girl was not much faster, but she at least was trying a little harder. The second temple game with the boulder was so badly coordinated. I mean the "mace" was not even working half of the time. I guess that was the first time this temple game was used? And finally, the Purple Parrots missed a lot of their cups in the team game. But Tiffani once again messed up the team game because she was taking her time putting the cups into the bucket. Overall though, Orange managed to beat Purple.
And now for the temple run. Tiffani was pretty slow in the temple and she got lucky with her temple guard placement. But she also did many things right in the temple including making it back to the platform and taking the Dark Forest shortcut. And not only that, she dragged that huge ass Helmet out of the temple and still managed to win. Taking all of this into account, she did a solid job in the temple and I gave her a relatively good score.
