Sorry I wasn't online at all yesterday, guys.  It's more than just being busy, because my laptop crapped out and now it won't even give me a login screen.  I'm typing this from the library on campus in the middle of working on my term paper, which I had to restart from scratch because I hadn't backed up my files after starting it.  Hopefully I won't lose everything, but I'll see once Tech Support opens in about a half hour.


If worse comes to worst, my laptop will have to be sent directly to Dell for repairs, but only after I'm back home for break (thankfully, I go back Wednesday).  We'll see how it goes, but before I get back to work on the paper, I just want to thank everyone who submitted answers to help the research along.  I should be back in a matter of days.

The camera swerves through a thick rainforest, and after multiple turns, it eventually stops in front of an ancient temple.  The eyes of giant stone head next to the temple gate light up red as he begins to speak:
"LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE!"
The show's logo forms as two halves of a Pendant of Life come in from the sides of the screen and merge; the show's name appears above the logo as the camera pans across the entire temple.
"With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is NOW!"

On this final word, Kirk emerges from a thick patch of jungle plants and shrubs, then runs into the foreground and up a wide set of steps to greet the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple.  The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards.  Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures of his temple.  Which one are we gonna hear about today?"

Faint orange lights underneath Olmec turn on, and the camera cuts to a close-up of him as he replies:
"The Second Seashell of K?ne Milohai."

"All right! Well, the legend is set," Kirk says in response as the camera cuts back to him, "and one of these six teams will have a chance to retrieve the Seashell.  Will it be:
"Troy and Valerie of the Red Jaguars?" the camera pans to each team in order, their first names briefly appearing at the bottom of the screen?
"Jake and Rachelle of the Blue Barracudas,
"Michael and Katie of the Green Monkeys,
"Kaleb and Annie of the Orange Iguanas,
"Randy and Lynn of the Purple Parrots,
"Or Danny and Vivian of the Silver Snakes?"

"They'll have to pass some tough physical and mental tests," Kirk says, "and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter the Tem? enter Olmec's Temple.  But first, they have to cross the Moat, and here's how they'll do it today?
"One player from each team is holding an ancient surfboard.  When I say 'Go,' he'll put the surfboard into the Moat, and he'll stand on it and go across by climbing hand-over-hand on the knotted rope above him.  Once the first player's across, it's his partner's turn to pull back the surfboard and he'll make it across by standing on it and climbing on the knotted rope."
"As soon as the second player steps onto the deck, it's his job to run over here and hit the gong." He hits the top button on the Red Jaguars' gong? which lights up red? to demonstrate. "The first four teams to hit their gongs will be going on to the next round.  Hey teams: Are you ready?"
The players all cheer and shout in response.
"Olmec: Are you ready?" asks Kirk.
"You betcha!" Olmec replies.
"All right then," Kirk says in response. "On your marks, get set, GO!"

On "Go," the first players do as directed, but within the first few seconds, the boys from the Red Jaguars, Purple Parrots and Blue Barracudas develop a notable lead over the girls from the other teams.  The female Green Monkey even loses the surfboard under her feet, and her feet touch the water, prompting her to go back and start over after only six seconds. "Green Monkeys gotta go back, but there's plenty of time, they can catch up!" However, it's not too long before the Red Jaguar and Silver Snake have to restart as well, making the Purple Parrots the first team to get a player across to the other side, in eleven seconds.  The Blue Barracudas and Orange Iguanas also get their first players across about six seconds later.
"This game takes a lot of balance," Kirk narrates as the second players on the Parrots, Barracudas and Iguanas start pulling on the ropes attached to their teams' surfboards, "and you can't go too fast but you gotta keep up!" The Green Monkeys get their first player across next, after twenty-four seconds, with the last two teams closely following suit.  A few seconds after starting across the Moat, the female Purple Parrot's surfboard slips out from underneath her, and she has to retry, but just as she starts back, the Blue Barracudas follow suit, but the Red Jaguars finally get their first player across (:30).  On the other hand, the Orange Iguanas maintain a steady pace and a significant lead, and thirty-eight seconds into the round, they are the first team to light up their gong.
"We got our first team: the Orange Iguanas! We're looking for three more!" Kirk declares while the Red Jaguar finishes reeling in her team's surfboard and the other players develop more of a lead.  A few seconds later, however, the Green Monkey goes too fast across the Moat and loses her grip on the overhead rope, causing her to fall into the water, but the Blue Barracuda makes it across and hits her team's gong after a full forty-five seconds, followed very closely by the Purple Parrots. "Still looking for one more team? and it's the Silver Snakes!" Sure enough, the Silver Snakes make it across and place fourth, banging their team gong fifty seconds after the round began.
"Blue Barracudas, made it across no problem at all!" announces Kirk as the camera cuts to him and the Blue Barracudas celebrating around their gong; he high-fives the boy on the team before continuing. "They're going on to the Steps of Knowledge, along with the Orange Iguanas?" the camera briefly shows each qualifying team, with Kirk stopping in between to allow for applause? "and the Purple Parrots? and the Silver Snakes! The Red Jaguars and the Green Monkeys? Tough match, it was really close, but we got a great gift for 'em and here's what it is." Troy, Valerie, Michael and Katie will each be receiving a copy of Ponyo on DVD.
